You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

Some of the special-purpose forums are listed below along with their replacements (as of writing):

#2668, "another small suggestion"

Rome's post on Ask an Immortal made me think of this.

We've all had it happen where we lose link and wake up naked at the pit. Who killed us? We'll never know. Even if the character most positively *would* if his brain (i.e. player) had been working correctly at the time.

So. Add a command that shows the last person to kill you, and maybe what skill did you in. However, code it so that if the character was blind at the time (or if he was assassinated) that the info is appropriately reduced.

Ex. Joe loses his connection (but isn't officially "link-dead" in game) and gets assassinated by Bob. Joe reconnects and types "lastdeath" and gets "Someone killed you with: assassinate."

Ex. Joe loses connection and gets attacked by a Bob the Shaman. Bob's friend Frank shows up and helps gang Joe, but after Joe is already blind. Frank gets the last hit, which happens to be a flurry. Joe reconnects and gets "Someone killed you with: flurry."

Obviously there are times when a character can still know who attacked him even if he dies while blind, but for the sake of this command, err on the side of favoring the attacker. i.e. if a Necro sleeps Joe and spells him up, only blinding him at the very last, then kills him, Joe would only know that he died to "crimson scourge" (or whatever) and not who killed him.
