You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

Some of the special-purpose forums are listed below along with their replacements (as of writing):

#24392, "Edge request"

Any chance of putting in the helpfile what it required to get the edge? It is a pain at times playing the guessing game. I also noticed with Elzebeth I had to have a certain amount of imm exp to unlock some edges.

Demystifying, in this case, would probably be a good thing. People can keep track of where they're at and have a goal to strive for that requires no immortal/mortal help...purely independent.

They're more than anal already.

The mystery is a very large part of the fun. It's just great to know you've done _something_ right, when you see that edge list growing.

Just stop crunching numbers, you can just as well have fun without it. And you'll probably have a whole lot less stress about things too.

The more things are mystified, the more you run into the borderline ooc questions people feel like they have to ask in-game. Then you give them the answer, trying to stay within some kind of fantasy-rp at the same time. All the while it could simply be avoided by having the requirements clearly stated.

There is a ####ton of stuff outside the tiny realm of edges that is and always will be much more ambiguous (like figuring out all the mechanics of a PK).

Seconded. I think we waste too much time worrying about number crunchers. People who want to play that way are going to those guys are so anal about that stuff, that they likely knows how many licks it takes to get to the center of the tootsie roll pop. That doesn't mean I care or that I'm going to take the time to figure it out. I just want to know how to get to the good stuff in the middle.
