You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

#2405, "Orc snares"

Snares are by design.. to trap people, or alert the trapper of their presence correct?

Orc snares throw rocks, not trap someone, however I snared a ranger and when he got hit with the rock, not only did he not come out of camo, it was almost instantly I was ambushed..

Something seem wrong with that? Not asking for it to be like a ranger snare that gets to stun you, but ... not out of camo, not even a three second lag.. so I spend (I timed it) 35 seconds to set a snare that does nothing more than hit.. Someone?

Maybe some tweaking on that?

And it's not really a high priority for anyone. So if it changes...you'll know.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

With a disclaimer unless it becomes a priority to fix, that the skill itself is just worthless.

It has a 30 second lag to creat, doesnt lag the person who snares the trap, doesnt bring from invis or camo.. and causes weak damage.

On top of that, if you make it in a room with your group mates in the same room, they set off the snare by walking out.

I'm actually suprised something like that has been overlooked as long as it's been but since not too many people play orcs, ..ah well.

I'll be watching for the post.

that's not entirely worthless. I used to carry a supply of edible faerie fire preps for some situations.

I agree that won't help if a ranger ambushes you right away, but it will help sometimes when people aren't expecting to be flushed out.
