You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

Some of the special-purpose forums are listed below along with their replacements (as of writing):

#18052, "On familiar size."

This probably has the incredibly simple answer of being for game balance issues but I'll ask it anyways.

I have been wondering why it is that conjurer familiars are human-sized? A pretty honest question since technically the familiars should be at least gnome-sized if not smaller. I mean, an owl, raven, and shadowcat the size of a human?

In the same vein, shifter forms are the same way. Although I guess it can be argued that when a shifter takes a form they actually become a giant version of that animal. That and what would be the point of giving them control translucence if they were unbashable in the first place, right?
