The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. #17708, "Anti-Deathblow edge"

An idea for a deathblow edge, taken off the qhcf.net log board.

Preservation instinct
When fighting village berserkers, an unprotected person is often more wary of the deathblows they might attempt on their fragile form. This edge gives them a higher chance of parrying deathblows. The same people, while under magical protection not inherent to their class, are unlikely to feel the need to be as wary.

Hope that kinda makes it clear. Unprotected thieves, warriors or even noob mages who don't know wands can take this edge with the hope of not eating as many big deathblows at the hands of rampant berserkers. It requires parry and chances increase vastly with the persons ability to parry(making mages poor at this edge, but they still get a minor bonus) and works better if you know the ragers weapon. All bonuses disappear when magical protection is used.

Yay? Price can be scaled on how much it would effect ragers. Largely, I hope it'll encourage more of them to deathblow mages than rely on it as a tactic against uncaballed warriors they don't like. Assuming that uncaballed has enough edge points, and feels they're beaten by ragers oft enough, they can use this to even the score!
