You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

How hard would it be to start some new games in the inn, maybe have some kind of game invent... in other muds I've seen a connect four and reversi style game just pasted in an inn that would involved looking at the board and inputting commands.

Not that I want to copy this idea or even take it further and put a chess board in the inn (though I drool at the thought of tournaments). I was thinking perhaps we could invent our own game, some kind of original carrionfields style thing. I wouldn't mind a card table where players would get random hands of 5 cards by picking them out and can get echo's of what they are when they drop them. Something as simple as that could bring about something more to the social environment of places like the inn.

At the moment, all we have is chatting and collective gambling, any ideas out there to help the poor gamblers?

Personally I like the idea of games unique to cf, however simple or complex they are.

I also think that the "big spenders" who gamble a lot should be allowed access to a back room, that only other big spenders can get into. That way the major gamblers don't have to worry about gangs of thieves etc, which, if you think about it, would suit a gambling establishment. That's why if you win big enough they'll provide you with an escort back home/to your hotel.

Ya, i'd like more games at the inn. I don't know about connect and reversi tho. On other muds I've seen a very well impletemented game of solitaire, with well done ascii, and on one, there's even a triple triad from final fantasy tactics. Again, very well implemented.

Blackjack could be added, easily doable with just plain numbers and letters, as I think ascii gfx would really #### up the world of CF. Poker too, in fact, a variation on poker shouldn't be too hard to come up with, just using letters and numbers, that would be unique to CF. As for chess.. I remember once being in the Underdark with someone else, and we were waiting for a groupmate, so we started to play chess with emotes. This eventually ended with my groupmate going 'Dude, it's 4am, don't make me break out the chess pieces.' In short, it might be a little hard to implement.

Special socials just to play charades, what say you Yanoreth? Gnome curling for the giants, which I think is already implemented. A game of darts, where your chance to hit depends on all your weapon skills. A new herald skill class 'Magicians'?

For the love of God! Circ.
