#1531, "lag on looting?"
|
I propose a lag on looting. The same lag would apply to get all corpse, and get (item) corpse. This would at the very least make people think about looting.
The lag wouldn't be considerable, but it would not apply to autoloot. All of the effects of this seem desirable to me. It would give me more of a chance to take a swing against greedy punkasses.

I for one can't be bothered to rehash it.

Look what happens:
Jerk loots the item from the mob you've just laboriously killed.. You've got 1 round to attack him.
Corpse on the ground in the middle of a pfight: People will likely prioritize and stay fighting instead of looting.
People swarm to a pfight in hopes of loot; well, there would be time to get your swings in on them. Especially the hiders and sneakers who (get all corpse;hide;sneak).
People don't give a second thought on looting. I think that looting is atleast as labor / mind / time intensive as feinting.

If I kill someone, and five lowbies are standing around, I will only get 1 out of the best 6 items, if they all choose wisely. That is the best case scenario given sensible lowbies, and I wouldn't like it much. I'd rather they get the chance to full-loot but grab a pile of junk instead of the good stuff.
Also, it would stink that I can't even grab the one good item I want before more enemies arrive on the scene.
And how do you factor in butcher, or ritual of abominations, where the loot all gets put on the ground. Do you make picking stuff off the ground lag people? If not, orcs, rangers, ragers, liches, necros all gain advantage. If so, what about people are trying to retrieve a disarmed weapon? They'd be lagged a round before they could wield the weapon they'd just picked up.
