If you're talking about just when you drop some copper coins on the ground, there are a few options with only one or two copper coins. But then, yes, it becomes just a "pile" - it's not worth the time to make that many different options available.

That's a question of the description being changed to reflect the value of the pile. We moved toward giving you bigger denominations for piles of money, but we haven't finished changing all the descriptions yet.
