Given the yearning for a mage cabal, thought I'd toss out a poll on it. What five powers, previous or present, would make for a kick ass mage cabal?

Mine:
Tome (because I love my invokers)
Transform (Old Master, not early scion or despoil)
Ward of deflection
Orderly mind (Except not just for orderly people obviously)
Counterspell (It's a tough call between volley and counterspell, but always on wins out)

Note: I did not say make for balanced, just kicking of thine ass.

Brew is about as close as you get on that one.

For you little cheaters, what five powers, past or present, from mage cabals, would make for a kick ass mage cabal?

Centurions? Sheesh.

Ok Ok. I'm counting Scion as a mage cabal, btw.

1) Forsaken portal
2) Old school tranform.
3) Counterspell
4) Scourge
5) Magical Control

Brew is nice and all but, eh. *shrug*

Oh, forgot all about scourge. Kind of forgot about magical control too, probably better than orderly mind since conjies and shifters would get jack from that really. And I hated brew. b key, brew key, c id potion, drop potion, sac potion, repeat nineteen more times to find a potion to keep.

Considering you didn't specify these had to be mage-only oriented powers, my list :

1) Spellbane
2) Insects
3) Centurions
4) Transform (old school)
5) Tower of Iron Will

If you have spellbane up, you'll also bane (or try to bane) every spell you cast. It's probably not worth it.

Doh. Ok, replace with eyes of intrigue. ToIW takes care of spells anyway, though you have to wait to rank 51.

Tess is nice, but it doesn't finish kills as well as insects I'd say. Given Nep's statement about bane, I'd indeed swap it for eyes of intrigue. Vigilance, meh, I'd rather have centurions for dealing with ragers.

But I don't see tess nearly as much as a tool for finishing kills as a tool for getting to my victim quickly after I've located them with eyes of intrigue.

In my personal experience what puts a cap on killing isn't being able to win fights, but getting the fights in the first place.

With tess, you don't need eyes, just hope they aren't in a massive gang waiting for you to tess in. On the other hand with eyes, you just locate them and then run there and kill them. Personally I'd rather take eyes with some chars (muter, shifty, ap, necro) and tess on others (conjie, invoker).

Why not take piercing gaze for the detects instead?

Isn't straight detects and has some limitations, although it's an awesome, awesome power.
