This has something to do with improved mortal regen rates. Something where mobs who are full health aren't that interested in tracking and attacking or something. If you're trying to fix it... I'd look there. If not... I'm ok with that too.

...on ranking against 'razor-sharps' with a class that can neither hide nor make itself invisible from them after you break off for a brief period of health point regeneration. You'll notice eventually.

Don't think it's the not chasing he's refering to. I was wondering why they were doing what they were doing.. suprised the heck out of me because I didn't remember it being that way...

..when was this change made? I didn't see an announcement or anything.

I don't have any chars at the moment, so I can't check in game.

A bug maybe? Who knows, but I've noticed what he's talking about (probably). Either way, if they haven't posted it, they probably don't want it to be common knowledge... which means of course that it already is amongst the people they would want to hide it from, and isn't among those who would discover it for themselves or are newbies.

I have noticed at least as a newbie that mobs are now tracking and not auto-attacking me when they should be for instance I attack a mob, i flee and rest one room away, on the tick the mob comes and does not attack, now I got a mob following me and not attacking. Though sometimes they do attack. Odd change but it seems that under certain circumstances they just follow without attacking.

on a race that can see infravision? And the room you happen to be in dark and you having no glowing objects?

This will happen all the time..remember, just because you can see in the dark...not all mobs have infravision. So if he can't see you ..he wont attack.

What he's talking about (at least I think so) is that some mobs seem to now "forget" that they're mad at you after a few minutes. I've noticed this a few times on a few different mob's lately.

They don't stop tracking, just don't attack. And it has nothing to do with them not seeing you as far as I can see.. because my character is normally lit up like a christmas tree.

I've found mobs (in general) to be, for the lack of a better word, less relentless since recently than I have always known them to be. For example, besides what Rome specified I've also noticed that certain mobs who used to commence their tracking after being attacked apparently no longer do so. Since the mobs I'm speaking of are in an area that was written by Nepenthe, this is certain to add a little spice to this discussion I'd say.

That said, I'd be quite willing to accept the possibility that this is simply all in my mind since I indeed have a rather vivid imagination to begin with, but reading through the thread it appears various other players have had similar experiences. I can also pretty much confirm that these incidents all happened in a room that happened to be well-lit, so while Ordasen's statement could certainly be true in some cases I have my strong doubts that this is the case here.

Or are we observing CF's equivalent of a form of mass-psychosis? It never ceases to amaze how truthful Yanoreth's remarks about CF being an interesting studyground for psychologists really are. But then again, the staff probably reached this conclusion long before any of us ever did.

At any rate, since under the current state of affairs the average player ends up with a little more breathing room with regards to sudden mobdeaths and the experience penalties that follow, I just assumed that this was a subtle change to give players with my point of view on mobdeath experience penalties a little nod while still keeping these penalties in place. Hence the remarks I made in my original post in this thread.

Darn spelling errors. Posting while being just awake is never a good idea.

Yeah, rolled up a char and tested this out. Its definately a bug. Some hours they'll track you and attack, others they'll just track you in and not do anything. Even outside during daylight, even when I'm wearing glowing objects. At first I thought it might be night too, but it was 7AM outdoors when it happened.

' Some hours they'll track you and attack, others they'll just track you in and not do anything. '

When I noticed that in particular, the first that came to my thoughts was 'RNG' rather than 'bug'. That is part of the reason why I believed it to be a deliberate change. It would be rather dissapointing if it turns out to be otherwise.

Though I suppose everything has an upside. If it is a bug and becomes fixed, that would also mean I no longer am under any sort of 'moral obligation' towards the staff to grit my teeth and take a mobdeath for a change.

*snickers*

I personally don't know #### about this change, so while not 100% I'm leaning towards bug.

But I suppose when it became clear you were not aware of any such changes being made while you are also one of the most senior members on staff, the chances of it having been deliberate were significantly reduced then and there already.

At least it doesn't come as a complete surprise because of this. It's still a pitty however.

dark arial attacked me and did not re-engage even though it tracked me. It was not blind, and as far as I know, there is no "dark room" on the battlements where the guards are.

I was grabbing gear from a semi-tough mob, and, after whittling them down a bit, I ran back to where he was and, lo-and-behold... no autoattack!? ..happened a couple of times.

I assumed it was due to the mob bleeding tremendously from my super-mean dagger maledicitons, but now I am guessing that it was because it was the first full-moon of the year and I was outside and it was raining and I was wearing all black gear, with the exception of my glowing dagger, of course... (that's a joke...*cough*)

And, it was against an NPC I would ~assume~ has infravision...so ?? Maybe it has always been like this, I don't know.

But I've also been known to consume a couple jack and cokes while I settle down for the evening, so perhaps one could attribute my observations to that...

Just thought I'd confirm my sighting.

And it isn't mob specific, but rather appears to be some sort of level range specific. Meaning if they're razor or just became lucky blows they don't autoreengage (even if they are tracking) but death and anything less than just becoming lucky blows acts normally.

..is that it takes some time for the aggressiveness to wear off. The three different mob's I've seen it happen on were all in the same area (I was solo exploring), and all razor+.

If I had to guess, I'd say it was somewhere around 5 hours in between fights when they suddenly didn't want to thrash me anymore.
