#10189, "A skill idea for shamans"
|
Ok, so being the dork that I am, I was looking over skillsets for the classes and thought of something when I stopped on the shaman page.
Now, one important piece in the shaman puzzle is the part about how their abilities are very self-centered (i.e.; they don't heal, recall, or do very much of anything that is helpful for their allies). Nothing wrong with that. The thing is, shamans are also supposed to be relentless zealots...so how about giving them a skill that makes them ward off hunger and thirst for long periods of time? I know, I know, you guys are thinking "Mek, give us something BIG to consider for once!" But we all know that the BIG stuff gets shot down way more than the little things.
Another take on the whole shabang might be to give shamans create food/water, but have the food that is created be poisonous to those of the opposite alignment, useless to neutrals, and maybe like normal food for people of the same alignment. I could see cool little emotes going with those poisonings as well.
Eh?

This doesn't strike me as fitting the offensive niche of shamans very well. They're very intentionally limited in their non-combat utility supplications.
While I agree that their non-combat supps should be limited, the reasons for this change are pointed directly at the relentless nature of shamans. As it stands they have a way to heal themselves, a way to refresh themselves, as well as various cures for maledictions. It just stands to reason that they'd have a way to deal with hunger and thirst in a priestly way. I know it might overlap a bit with other abilities that already exist in the game, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't go well for shamans.
Anyways, that's that.

Sure. Let's add the feature to Aristaeia commune.

I just don't see that falling in with shamans for some reason. As stands, all other priests are food/water sufficient so I don't see it as a big whoop for shamans to not be. If anything, I'd be inclined to give them call lightning, just because it makes a lot more sense for them to have it than paladins.
