Make it so the wake command puts you to resting not standing. Makes a bit more sense, and doesnt really change anything balance wise.

I agree, it doesn't change anything...so why spend the time? The one thing it would stop is groups sleeping up and getting ready to continue. Waking to resting means you're waiting that much longer for your groupmates.
