#616, "Santa 2008: Cabal Outer/Summoning"
|
How about getting rid of the ability to summon from the entrance of cabals, (while the cabal guardian still stands guard). Could have an echo for some realism. "The maran tarabal senses your dark magic and lashes out, distracting your concentration."
This would accomplish two things, 1)Give the defender a chance to stand his ground and prepare a bit while facing a hoard. Especially with the lopsided cabal numbers we have been seeing the past few years. There are usually 3-4 attackers vs 1 lone defender, and it goes both ways. Empire/Maran/Outlanders, etc. Battle already has an answer for this. 2)It would prevent the groups of 10 elite dwarven guards and crap that get summoned to cabal outers (from both defender and attacker).
Once the attacking side gains entry to the cabal, and wants to draw out the defenders by summoning, they can do so, while inside. The design of cabals makes it so some cabals are better for defense than others. For example: Take fortress, it is huge. The two flee rooms on either side kinda even things out for a defender, but it is still a pain in the ass when facing summoners. My experience has been the poor smuck standing valiantly in the fortress agaisnt a few Imperials just gets summoned and rocked. Or the fortressites get summoned one by one, while the rest of them take 30 seconds to navigate out and try to rescue. By then the victim is usually dead.
The same is true of Empire. Two summoning paladins and some backup agaisnt one lone blade makes for dead blade. There should be a bit of a perk for the lone defender.
If numbers are even and both sides are fairly matched it really doesnt mater much if they want to play the summoning game. In reality though cabal fights are usually so damn one sided. Hope is the worst of evils, for it prolongs the torment of man.

It also gives them more protection and an easier time to escape as soon as the outer is hit...

Well...I tend to blame that on the bandwagon jumping playerbase, and don't honestly want to optimize the game for them.

Yes they do, one of the few perks they actually get.

A valid (if sometimes annoying) tactic.

I talked with Nep about this, and I agree, I think the only place summoning is potentially overpowered in the cabalwars is keeping people from fighting at their inner. So long, and thanks for all the fish!
