You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

Some of the special-purpose forums are listed below along with their replacements (as of writing):

#10, "Unlearn Command"

There are a number of times my characters would have loved to have removed or reduced certain skills/spells. True, a lot of it has to do with preventing them from sucking up bonus skill gains from leveling or imm exp, but it would also be nice to remove some clutter from my practice list or voluntarily give up certain abilities due to my role or self-imposed atonements.

Syntax: Unlearn <skill/spell>, ie unlearn infravision, unlearn improved compare, unlearn armor, unlearn elbow, etc

If the skills/spell is above 50% when used, the unlearn skill drops that ability down to 50%. If the skill/spell is below 50%, it will be dropped to 1%. If unlearn is used on a skill already at 1%, it is removed entirely from a person's skill list forever.

This kind of thing would give players a little more control over their destiny, and make me less anal about having to master every odd item in my practice list when I only needed to use that ability for a short time and will need to use it again.

It seems you are optimizing for a clean practice list (I want all 100%'s!) and that's not going to happen.

As for dropping the ability down in effectiveness...why would you ever want to do that? So you can spam it up and get more xp again?

If you don't want a specific skill for roleplay reasons you can always pray and ask to have it removed.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!
