"If you use Steam and have friends on your buddy list, you can add your MUD client to your list of Steam applications. Launch the client through steam and everyone on your buddylist will see your status as "In-Game: Z-MUD." Older players may say, "hey, you MUD? It's been years, what do you play?" And there's your opportunity to introduce them to CF. It's happened to me three times now.

Like I said, niche, but easy if you're already using Steam."
