You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

#1, "Kicking things off."

The religion is now three years old and I wanted to be a little more open on what I expect and what you should expect. There is a lot of room for play in this religion, but, there are a few things I can share that may help you if you decide you want to be a follower.

1. My spheres are chaos, deception and wisdom.

2. Chaos does not always mean stupid. Especially in my religion where wisdom is just as important.

3. Self-reliance gets praise, being needy gets scorn.

4. The gaping maw is about causing people to be left with their mouth hanging open in shock and surprise. Not dismay and disgust.

Do not confuse my religion with Entropy. That is usually the beginning of the end for a character unless they are truly unique. And my judgment on whether or not it is unique is the one that matters.

Outlander is the cabal that I help oversee. While I give my opinions regarding all of Outlander, I am pretty much the one who sets the boundaries for the evil side of Outlander. I will answer questions regarding all of Outlander, but, some questions that come up may not get answered the way you want just to keep some of the secrecry that the help files suggest.

Fire away.

Entropy bards (say) became very predictable. They'd dopple someone, come straight to a ranking area, and fiend people. Not very chaotic in my opinion when they used this same tactic again and again.

Equally, it is not difficult to predict what some of your followers will do. Let's take a hypothetical follower and say that they are close to completely predictable when it comes to who they'll pk upon logging in and how they'll do it. (It may not be the same person, but it fits a definite pattern.)

Both of the above, to me, feel at odds with both entropy and your own religion.

Would you say this is the case? Or is extreme pk predictability 90% of the time fine as long as 10% of the time (say) you do something that isn't predictable? Because to be honest, that's still probably less than the average character that doesn't follow your religion. Surely your religion, of all religions, should never give rise to a stereotype.

Predictability is quite a broad description. A ranger that uses creep extremely well is predictable in that you know they are creeping. A bard who dopples walks in and fiends is also predictable. There is an element of being lame that has to be taken into account.

Some of my followers are Outlanders and they kill enemies to the cabal ideals and that is predictable. What makes someone special is when they create maws in doing what they want. This is not about tactics though. Using tactics that work is a sign of wisdom. Making them work in situations that could prove to be unpredictable or more likely to fail will cause the gaping maws.

For every one follower who understands that concept, there are five who don't. Very few empowerees of mine get full empowerment and even less get the tattoo because they are missing the flare that my religion requires.

Did you read Soelanzin's role? And if you did, did it fit that of sphere chaos and pico's illegitmate son role well? I heard from an Imm before I deleted that it was the most Twisty Role ever read. I am going to by Soelanzin's pbf this monday after I got paid, But was wondering if my grasp on chaos/fate is as good as I thought it was. Read all of pico's teachings myself and pretty much everthing in all the forums and was just wondering what you thought of that Role?

Peace out Graping Moo. =)

I am going to have to wait for the PBF because I really don't remember him.

I would hope you would respond to the ROLE after its up in a few days. I spent about 150+ hours writing about 6 pages, and I fuggered up and lost the last one before I could enter it. But I thought I was a Chaotical Enigmation of Distandards for the Entropical being.
