You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

#3063, "gear attributes"

When I identify stuff, I sometimes get those attributes:

It has a chilling aura of evil
It seems to be dark and cloaked in shadows.
It has been imbued with a blessing.
It shines with a pure, goodly aura.

I'm wondering what those means... does an evil character benefits from using gear with a chilling of evil, or cloaked in shadows?

Does a goodie benefits from using goodly aura stuff?

The blessing confuses me because it is sometimes on evil stuff...

Anyone knows about it?
Thank you.

That stuff is mostly for show.

Real goodies shouldn't (and if I'm not mistaken, in the case of Fort can't) use stuff with an evil aura. Paladins can remove it. An evil probably wouldn't let such petty details as a goodly aura bother them, if they were able to use the gear in the first place.

Darkness does nothing afaik.

Blessings have nothing to do with a goodly entity, since evil and neutral healers can toss those out just fine. IIRC healers and paladins can wield only blessed weapons.
