#212, "Looking for a few Baer pointers"
|
I can't login right now and read the help file, but, I have a basic understanding of the religion.
What I want to know, most especially from Baer herself, is some advice on playing a Baer follower rager. I know its been done before, but, it sounds like that line is even tighter than being a goodie in the Village.
Is it going to be unacceptable from a religious POV to hunt goodie mages. If your hand is forced for some reason, is it then ok, so long as you RP some remorse? I can see some good character color from the inner conflict between hating magic and not wanting to slay goods. In your opinion, is it possible to RP the rager in such a way that he can justify the slaying of a goodie mage? I understand, it's probably more beneficial for the character to use other methods than violence against goodie mages such as trying to convince them away from their path. But, it doesn't make sense from the rager side to turn a blind eye to casting goodie mages. What if you just kick the #### out of them but let them escape?
What if a group of forties are jumping an evil rager. The same inner conflict question arises. Should he help the brother in arms, despite him being evil or let the forties disrupt your war against magic. Even more so, what if a mage is part of that group?
What if you kill a good mage on accident? Let's say I'm hunting and spot a group of mages ranking. In a hunt speed is everything, and you could lose a possible skull delaying too much to see someone's alignment. Also, as a rager, there aren't any ways I can think of to discern alignment beyond race.
What about wearing evil equipment? My guess is no, but, I just wanted to ask.
Will it be acceptable to twist the regular perception of good/evil into one that equates no magic with good and magic with evil?

No offense, but this sounds more like an excuse to follow her religion for RP perks without actually following her religion for the religion's sake.
Also, I'm 99% confident that you can't twist the regular perception of good/evil, simply because, well, she's good, and she hates the regularly percepted evils.
As for good mages, you can always ask first when you see them on who pk.
As for just "kicking their ####es" but letting them escape, I tried to do the same thing with good criminals as a good trib. Strip weapon, let them flee.
In the end, just remember that she IS a Good imm, and the imm of the Fortress. Killing other goodies isn't something she'll like, so kicking their ####es is definitely a better idea than killing them.
And like Daev said, if you plan to kill good pc's, NEVER take her tattoo. Even one or two kills = tattoo definitely worse for you.

I'm not qualified to comment on the Baer RP angle of this, but from a purely mechanical standpoint, if your character will kill good PCs, you do not want Baer's tattoo.
