#417, "The outbreak of the unlaggable"
|
Whats the deal with certain characters being unlaggable lately? I've been speaking to a great deal to other characters in IC and I've not been the only one to notice it. A couple of us even have been trying to put it to the test and some people seem to be able to shake off all of the lag skills like lash, bash, trip, wallop, swing, cranial, and bearcharging, etc. I am not niave enough to think there are not ways around it, but the number of people playing different classes doing it is starting to get very annoying. I think this is something that needs to have a look at because whoever figured out to whatever it is has obviously been flapping their gums or is playing a whole lot of different characters and that's what seems to be the issue.
I'm sure there maybe a rational expliantation to it, but if there is I'm sure most of us would like to know what it is, because it really getting irratiting that one person can shake off four people doing everything possible to keep them in one place. It's not like were missing. Did y'all nerf most lag skills or something?
I also know this isn't the most viable place to post this, but you two have been very kind in answering peoples question and I just hoped you might be willing to reveal what's going on here. I know the tone of this post might seem negative, but I can't convey through text that it's just a general nagging curiousity, no malice intented what so ever
Am I just a idiot and imagining this or is there something to it?

Nothing around this has changed within probably the last several years.

Does anti-ganging code reduce lag? If it does, that probably explains it. Try not dog-piling people.

That was just a test that some of who took notice attempted. Now that you mention it, it was probably not the most brilliant idea. The majority of those I have spoken to are noticing this when we're dookin it out with another character one on one though on a majority of characters that are two low to have many of the skills or legacies required to shake of relentless assaults of attempted laggery. Maybe I'm just imagining it then and will have to let it slide. Doesn't change the boiling rage that works to the surface when level thirty low dex mace warriors and rangers/druids in civilization skip around ever you throw at them.

It seems like certain combos became much more powerful with the anti-gang code addition. Was that an unintended byproduct or an intended design?
Examples would be a strong invoker or mummy/lich.

I'm pretty happy with the way it sits now. For various reasons I don't think it juices power characters as much as you might think it does, but really, if it lets, say, a tough invoker more realistically try to get his cabal item back from six opponents instead of hiding or logging off, isn't that a good thing?

Champions Stand (paladin sup) Harmonious Equilibrium (warrior legacy) Bloodthirst (Battle Berserker Power) Masochism (Shigru Orc adaptation skill) Sure Footing (Ranger Mountain and Caverndweller home terrain skill) Bash (not consistent lag) Cranial (not consistent lag)
There may be others, but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

There are a few Trannies around right now who seem to be pretty happy to throw a full spectrum of goods up on almost anyone, just for the asking.
My knowledge of haste outside of Bloodthirst is pretty limited, but this might have something to do with it.

Though it certainly reduces the likelihood of something like bash landing (and probably trip), but I can't say for certain about any other skills.
I assumed the OP meant, lag moves hitting (not missing or echoing out due to anti-gang code) but not getting much actual lag out of them.
FYI, I think maybe warpriest heavy has a chance at reduced lag as well when facing multiple opponents. "- Small chance for heavy armor to reduce the effectiveness of a stunning attack; this is very rare unless the shaman is fighting multiple player opponents."
Though usually I would assume stunning as sleeping (stun, blackjack etc.) it seems like lag moves in this context to me.

You have correctly interpreted the warpriest thing.
