You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

As to brink/I logging on/off at the same time. Ponder this. I work 8 hrs a day from 8-5 I get home from work and usually log on, Around 10:22 system time (which is when you pointed out that I log off) it is about 11:22 pm eastern time (right about the time I go to bed w/ my wife). Also I am boggled why you would bother to post "he logged off xxx" at all. Its a game, and my priority list has shifted quite a bit from when I first started CF at age 16. So yeah, I'm going to log off if I don't see myself as having fun right at that moment. And it kind of irks me that you would bother to note that I log off. Like I have some "duty" to play the game. It isn't like you are sending me a weekly salary check for playing, and until you do I will continue to log in/off whenever I see fit regardless of opinion on it.

Fair enough. I'll also continue to offer my commentary and opinions regardless of opinion on them.

If you want to be the Battle guy who regularly logs off as soon as he's outnumbered, that's fine. As long as your adrenaline's not up, etc., it's not against the rules. However, you're also not going to be the Battle guy I give a free legacy for continuing to beat ass against the odds, which I typically do a few times a year.

As to logging off when the odds were against me....When weren't they? I played many hours at hero, and lets see prior to my deletion there were maybe 3? active hero chars in Battle. None of which were online with me very often. So I don't see how the odds weren't stacked against me...ever. Regardless, I try ot log on every day for my lunch hour and talk to applicants etc. I don't know if you just caught me logging out at bad times or what. But I can honestly tell you I don't give a crap about being outnumbered. If you look at my char history- All of them have always been outnumbered. I like playing the underdog- more things to kill.

I wouldn't have overall called this an underdog character. I believe you think you were, but I'm not sure how that would be true by any objective standard.

Not that statistics are everything, but look at the numbers on your PBF. Is your gank-o-meter way lower than your ganked-o-meter, as I would expect from most underdog characters? No, in fact it's higher. Was your cabal item taken a ton? No, you retrieved it a whole twice in this character's life. (One of which I gave you XP for, by the way, because it was underdoggy and it was cool). 2 times! I can point to a few currently existing characters who have had to retrieve their cabal item over a hundred times -- I'm not sure how Fhaen would have been fit to so much as shine their underdog shoes.

Sorry if I seemed whiney, it was not my intent. Its hard to get reason/understanding out of one line comments. Fhaen was a throw-away anyways, I just didn't expect the log out type comments. Maybe I misread the intention, to me it said "perma with brinkmun" or something to that effect, more than likely he and I have similar schedules. Anyways keep trucking, and maybe one day I will roll up a diamond in the rough
