Well, at least thanks for the immterraction.

There is no greater compliment a person can give. I wish I could say I remembered our interaction. I remember interacting with you, yes, but I don't remember what happened or what was said, but I'm glad it was enjoyable for you. May you have many more enjoyable moments to come.

We were at the Ysigrath swamp and you were following me around as usual... and I started preaching to the orc, or he started preaching to me. In either case we said something and some whispy music floated in the air and kissed 'em on the cheek. Then we go into the swamp and poof, you appear. Then you two go to talking and I go to wandering. Iunna shows up and we have a fight so I go back to listen to you. Then Iunna comes back and we argue some more, and you two are still there. Eventually I go to listen in to the rest of the whole thing. That spark your memory?

Yup. Thats exactly how it was. I have the whole thing logged, I just reread it - damn, that was good. I think I will post it on Dio's logboard (it is too long to post it here, I don't want to
clutter this place), so you can go there if you wish to refresh your memory. That conversation was not only fun, it made me think more and better about the roleplay of my char, as a result the char became more defined, more unique and more fun to play.

Oh yeah, I do remember now. I'd love to see a copy of that log if you care to send it to me via email. Thanks. Again, I'm glad it helped and that you really did enjoy it.

You might find it amusing that the only thing that bugged me
about you (before I guessed from your bug reports that English
wasn't your first language) was that you spoke very precisely
as an Orc ("Greetings, Initiate of the Scarab!" and that sort
of thing). Ironic, huh?

Yeah, I think it bugged quite a few people. I was asked a couple of times how an orc can speak so (grammaticaly) correct. The OOC reason was because it annoyed me a bit that all people thought hat orcs should speak corrupt language. I mean why? There's nothing in the helpfile that states tat all orcs speak like this. They have a low intellegence compared to other races, true, but still is average intellegence, which most of the PC orcs have, not sufficient to learn to speak correctly? On the other hand, I needed an IC reason, because it was a reality, created by the players that orcs speak corrupt language. So one who grew up among them, normally should've spoken like this as well. And I had such a reason - Mordizzug's mentor was a drow necromancer. She was the one who told him about the Scarab Cult and he spent hours, listening to her preaches. She of course spoke undistorted language and Mordizzug, who wanted to be like her in so many respects, learned to speak precisely as well.

Well, i'm assuming he had a maxed int, and the description for that is "average" right? So, what i've always wondered, is why being of average intelligence dictates that you must have poor command over language in general?

From the Tolkien perspective (which might as well be valid in
this case) Orcs are a corrupted transformation of the Elvish
race and have their own native tongue (the "black tongue"?
something like that) which is a fairly primitive-sounding
language (my favorite Orish word is gorbash). Their
command of the common tongue isn't all that great, however.
Will everyone of average intelligence be able to speak a second
language well? Not necessarily, especially if that part of the
brain isn't where their intelligence lies.

Yeah, but should everybody HAVE to have broken common? I'd think at least a fair chunk of people with avg intelligence should be able to learn their second language with some degree of proficiency if they're immersed in it.

I think this question is actually worthy of being placed on the "Ask an Immortal" board. It would be interesting to know what do the imms think about it. In any case, I believe it should be up to the player. If you want your char to have a distorted speaking, no problem, if not, no problem again. Just have an IC justification.

Ah well. You are the luckiest orc I did ever meet. That spine breaker saved your life countless time, and of course I wasn't going out of the forest if I could help it. I will miss fighting you. Good luck on your next character. WOOT!
