Just have a better idea and a More serious role playing angle I want to try.
Was a 4 path invoker. 9 9 9 8 in Fire ice lightning and air.
No worries. I know he sucked.

Always wondered how much it mattered in having a high affinity - is it just practicing time taken or more like damage/mana-cost/etc?

Mana was never a problem as costs were much lower.
Damage seemed normal but more often at upper ranges.
Learning rates were ultra-fast.
And I think I actually penetrated another invokers fireshield albeit for barely any damage. (Not sure on this)

Then okay so it didn't make it through a shield.
On a side note, does stone skin reduce spell damage? What about gates?
