ah, this was no rage delete. it was an utter boredom delete. shifter is the most boring class in the game (according to me). even warlock conjurers are more entertaining, believe it or not.
I'll just slide into the rant;
the tiger sucks, it pounces very seldom and it's normal combat abilities are basically null.
the rattlesnake rocks for fighting mobs, in pk however it sucks as people tend to bonecrush/hamstring/whirl or whatever that'll mess up shifting - if your plan is to shift into it, run away and heal up, and shift back to offensive form.
NEXUS: *BORING* oh yes. the only thing you fight is ragers, whom of some reason are either 20 or 0 in your pkrange. usually. so what do you do when they all delete? nothing. nothing. THEY NEED ANOTHER ENEMY. i'm sure it can be worked into the pillars, one way or another. the sporadic enemies dictated by the wyrm are just that, sporadic. and since you don't play at the times he play he doesn't know how things look when you play.
and the bond AHOEHOEA. oh my goodness. and there was some guy over at qhcf saying that it was THE BEST CABAL POWER. AEHOAEHOEAHOEAHO. someone needs to get his facts straight.
There are the drawbacks that so few people tend to think of.
1. your partner is a newbie, for instance in the raid when you're at 7% hp and getting cranialed you finally manage to flee out and he immediately runs back into combat killing you instantly. And he'll do a dozen other things that will screw you up, rest assured - he can think of many things you cannot.
2. you don't participate in other groups
3. you DONT participate In OTHER GROUPS <--
4. bonding with assassins suck.
5. compared to warriors, bonding with thieves suck.
6. no warrior know they can retreat both you and themselves out of combat.
6b. and if they do, they haven't practised it and are out of prac sessions.
7. splitting bonded people is easy, you occasionally have to flee out to redirect and so forth.
8. bonding with arial warriors suck.
9. you fight ragers, your powers are a fragment of theirs. To equal their powers you need to spend 2 hours daily to find preps while they "call resist"
10. nexus warriors don't prep.
11. bonding with rangers rock. till you leave the forest to raid/retrive/defend. unfortunately, it's in those situations you -need- cabal power to help you.
12. skilled people join battle, newbies join nexus.
13. I suck at pk.
14. some dumb f- keeps saying not everything is explored about the bond, WELL IF IT HASN'T BEEN DISCOVERED YET I DONT THINK WE EVER WILL.
15. and now they say priests will now actually do something with the bonds. I have an odd feeling that won't be receive high priority amongst the coders however.
so I had a barrier wand for a while, hell, I even had krivohans for a while and I went to fight shamus. did any of you read that log? I'm fully prepped, against him. I have to flee when he's like not hurt. later however we gang him AND MY GOD DID THAT FEEL GOOD.
I know, my logs are like smooth jazz a late night, comming out of a window in a back alley of venice.
I enjoy rambling.
god damnit nexus is boring, and so are shifters.

perhaps others disagree with me about it beeing boring, but atleast as a warlock you had 3 items to gather instead of one when you had nothing else to do. usually it ment some opposition.

Ah, did you have to leave? For real? You were great. Remember that time in the weald? You, me and a whole bunch of warders. Those were the days. And then the ragers that showed up for no real reason and started cranialing me like there was no tomorrow, good thing you were there to tear them a new one.

I enjoyed our interactions, I realised it was rather pointless to fight you (you were so skilled!), but then I started talk with you and I found a completely other side of you as a player, not only an excellent pk'r but also an rp'r. I almost left battle beccause of it.

I grew up, with the ideas that there is always one team captain, one chief, per tribe so on and so forth. You and I were both leaders and so we would try to pull each other in a different direction when the heat was on. Now to me, I think we had a problem with our communication, and with our form/form to spec's combos. I must admitt, Only recently did I find out that retreat would work to pull both bondies away from a battle. Starting to use this more, and its work is fantastic. I felt your character was a bit more arrogant than you could back up and I really didn't like your character, but that *usually* has nothing to do with the players. From what success I saw, well done. Hope you have fun on your next char.
-Cerc- And BTW, the rift RP is only as good as you make it, there is no set cookie cutter role, and the rift is broad enough to take in chaotic roles, to orderly roles.

Abgaakij was dead and deleted months ago, and I should've by then. But I didn't and turned very distanced each time I would log on. you're a great player cerc, and perhaps one day you will be just as skilled as nydeikon in working with the bond. or more.
but when we bonded it felt like you were where he started, while I was not far from it, seeing as I occasionally log on to irc it means I can't evolve my "pk skills".
good luck, perhaps you can come up with an ic idea for another opponent?

Agreed. However, the great thing about cf is there are no limits. There are plenty of other things to do aside from fighting ragers, but I agree that not having anyone to fight gets boring.
--->1. your partner is a newbie, for instance in the raid when you're at 7% hp and getting cranialed you finally manage to flee out and he immediately runs back into combat killing you instantly. Hope you weren't reffering to me there. I thought we did alright on raids together.
--->4. bonding with assassins suck.<---
Sorry.
--->10. nexus warriors don't prep.<---
Thats not true. I have preped with stone, shield and haste, and it did not help one bit vs rager powers. Not one bit.
--->12. skilled people join battle, newbies join nexus.<---
Thats not true, but who the hell wants to spend time gathering preps, when you still get your ass kicked by resist, deathblow, and thirst. It does not take much skill to gang someone with rager powers, or to kill them solo unless they are a barrierd mage.
Anyway, we explored a bit, thanks for showing me some stuff and so on..The time I lost link and popped up at my pit from pine just sucked..Good luck with the next I guess, you were one of the few nexans who play my crazy times.

Yes, you can always head to he ..., no wait, you can't.

we did.

not your fault.
>--->10. nexus warriors don't prep.<--- > >Thats not true. I have preped with stone, shield and haste, >and it did not help one bit vs rager powers. Not one bit.
and I prep with shield and aura, and it doesn't help one bit. one needs either invoker shields or sanctuary/barrier to have a chance.
>--->12. skilled people join battle, newbies join nexus.<--- > >Thats not true, but who the hell wants to spend time >gathering preps, when you still get your ass kicked by >resist, deathblow, and thirst. and all they do is call resist, call bloodthirst. I SPENT HOURS UPON HOURS UPON HOURS LOOKING FOR BARRIER. and sometimes I would find it, and then loose it. now with the new WAND CODE that I'm sure you BARRIER owners have noticed it gets a PAIN in the ELBOW to get it back, but I'm unsure I should say anything more on that subject. and IF I say IF it's so bloody DANGEROUS to call bloodthirst with all it's DRAWBACKS, then go defender/scout, or go berserker and don't call it.
> >Anyway, we explored a bit, thanks for showing me some stuff >and so on..The time I lost link and popped up at my pit from >pine just sucked..Good luck with the next I guess, you were >one of the few nexans who play my crazy times. > >Zethyr.
yeah, that did suck, but in the back of my head I knew we probably needed to be more to stand a chance there, especially inside the tower but I still haven't been there.

In this thread alone you posted as: Adrigon, adrigon!, Abgaakij, Nilushka, Nilushka, Shokai, and Vahlen. These last two are the ones I'm particularly concerned about and I'll ignore the other self-promoting posts.
Don't think that since this forum is OOC that there will be no consequences for your actions. Your posting IP has been banned from here, plus one of you characters (the R one) has been put in the Realm of the Dead for a private chat before you'll be allowed to play again. Your other character (the F one) has had another strike added to his record.

the tiger sucks, it pounces very seldom and it's normal combat abilities are basically null.
Tiberianus and Daemelin seemed to do well with this form. Considering every time it does pounce you have a good chance of getting a pk you otherwise wouldn't, I wouldn't knock it.
the rattlesnake rocks for fighting mobs, in pk however it sucks as people tend to bonecrush/hamstring/whirl or whatever that'll mess up shifting - if your plan is to shift into it, run away and heal up, and shift back to offensive form.
can't comment since having played a shifter since those changes.
I think it is one of the best cabal powers. Probably the best for ease of getting into the cabal (by which I exclude Maran/entropy etc).
There are the drawbacks that so few people tend to think of.
1. your partner is a newbie, for instance in the raid when you're at 7% hp and getting cranialed you finally manage to flee out and he immediately runs back into combat killing you instantly.
In that case, why follow him? I seem to remember that you could change who follows who after bonding. Let him follow you and you don't follow him. The only reason I assume you follow him is to make things easier on the whole. It just backfired.
And he'll do a dozen other things that will screw you up, rest assured - he can think of many things you cannot.
*chuckle* You can talk through the bond. Teach him.
2. you don't participate in other groups
Nothing says you have to bond instead of group normally.
3. you DONT participate In OTHER GROUPS <--
see above.
4. bonding with assassins suck.
a sneaking tiger who can't be permalagged to death because the assassin can vanish them both out of combat? A bondmate who can sneak close to your prey? Tiberianus and I seemed to do ok. I'd scout ground, he'd scout air. I can remember saving his life a couple of times with bind wounds as well.
5. compared to warriors, bonding with thieves suck.
can't comment, but sneak still useful. Can thieve's help you hide?
6. no warrior know they can retreat both you and themselves out of combat.
umm, so tell them?
6b. and if they do, they haven't practised it and are out of prac sessions.
so tell a younger warrior before he heroes.
7. splitting bonded people is easy, you occasionally have to flee out to redirect and so forth.
but the bond lasts a short time after fleeing sometimes, and returns on the tick if I remember.
8. bonding with arial warriors suck.
yeah, hasted stoneskin arial sword specs are wimps.
9. you fight ragers, your powers are a fragment of theirs. To equal their powers you need to spend 2 hours daily to find preps while they "call resist"
to get haste, stoneskin, shield takes maybe ten minutes tops.
10. nexus warriors don't prep.
if you are a shifter, they used to get haste, stoneskin and flight through the bond.
11. bonding with rangers rock. till you leave the forest to raid/retrive/defend. unfortunately, it's in those situations you -need- cabal power to help you.
here's where I start to sympathise. The road to the village doesn't help matters.
12. skilled people join battle, newbies join nexus.
I disagree. Ye olde pendulum at work. Given you have made nexus out to be harder than battle because of the "handicaps", and yet people have still done well in it, suggests that they are skilled players.
13. I suck at pk.
Play a villager again to remind yourself of why nexan's are dangerous. Then do that stuff to them. You probably won't suck.
14. some dumb f- keeps saying not everything is explored about the bond, WELL IF IT HASN'T BEEN DISCOVERED YET I DONT THINK WE EVER WILL.
MAybe it won't, but if a new combo turns out to be effective, and enemies don't know what it can do. Well, it doesn't really matter then if there are some unknown combos.
15. and now they say priests will now actually do something with the bonds. I have an odd feeling that won't be receive high priority amongst the coders however.
no comment
so I had a barrier wand for a while, hell, I even had krivohans for a while and I went to fight shamus. did any of you read that
log? I'm fully prepped, against him. I have to flee when he's like not hurt.
That's because he's a staff spear spec and designed to fight shifters.
later however we gang him AND MY GOD DID THAT FEEL GOOD. I know, my logs are like smooth jazz a late night, comming out of a window in a back alley of venice.
I enjoy rambling.
god damnit nexus is boring, and so are shifters.
Well, I agree that shifters are a bit dull, but with the BOND you can talk with them, which makes them a lot less dull (since you can use tactics together).
the jazz is not fluid. the trumpet's gone.
The nexus cabal has changed more than most in the time that it's been around, and its powers are of a different nature to the other cabals. I think quite a lot of effort and time goes into the cabal.

It has its uses yes, and I've fought them both as Modion. What I'm trying to say is that it isn't nearly as deadly in my hands than in their hands, to me it appeared that it has been downgraded, my logs demonstrate its combat abilities.

The bond -idea- is great. it's just that it practically needs work.
> >There are the drawbacks that so few people tend to think of. > >1. your partner is a newbie, for instance in the raid when >you're at 7% hp and getting cranialed you finally manage to >flee out and he immediately runs back into combat killing >you instantly. > >In that case, why follow him? There are other times when you need to follow him. Perhaps later there can be a constructive discussion about the bond over at vahlens place.
>And he'll do a dozen other things that will screw you up, >rest assured - he can think of many things you cannot. > >*chuckle* You can talk through the bond. Teach him.
There's no time for that, the village have already killed the sentinel (for instance). Add to that the fact that huraz always seem to full loot (except for that last time, thanks btw) doesn't give you alot of chances.
>2. you don't participate in other groups > >Nothing says you have to bond instead of group normally.
= don't have cabal powers and fight ragers. do you see now why the bond isn't the greatest cabal power?
>3. you DONT participate In OTHER GROUPS <-- > >see above. > >4. bonding with assassins suck. > >a sneaking tiger who can't be permalagged to death because >the assassin can vanish them both out of combat? it's marginal compared to bonding with warriors. but yet again I'd like to point out that an open discussion about the bond would be the best.

no.

that doesn't save my behind right there right now. besides, it's written in those holy texts that any member of the cabal should read.

they give little hp

Find them barrier. I spent -many- hours checking 6-7 locations for barrier.

and if you're retriving things aren't so great.

true. but it's very little.

I think more goes into, for instance, warlocks.

First off you found Nexus boring. Have you ever tried talking to the people you're fighting? Perhaps even talking to, oh say, an applicant? I can't say much on applicants there have been people imm'ed since I last talked to an applicant. However I always have something to do. Can't bond? I've had two hero shifters. Neither one did I Have a problem fighting villagers one on one with. Tiger/Rattlesnake sucks????!!!!???? Imm's I...I...wow. He thought that combo sucked... Bonding with arials sucks? Did you ever go rattlesnake and tank? Massive regen combined with an arial tanking for you? Not to mention a hasted/stoneskin/flying/translucently controlled arial taking blows while your tiger dishes out damage? Whew... Shifters...what can I say on this note. THey're my favorite class. I thank the Immortals in my mind daily that there's such a randomly awesome class in the game. You can't just "know" how to play out what you get. You can just take what you recieve and make it work. I never thought I would enjoy my combo, yet I now am thankful I got it. I'm sorry you were bored with this char and it doesn't look like I could convince you that it was a worthwhile cabal. However a lot of the old-timers have their favorite cabals. I'm not an old-timer by no means but I believe I've found my favorite. And one last thing... Ever witness Whil and Lorak together? You might think twice on that assassin bond comment.

Occasionally I did, though I spoke more with scions/warlocks. I think the major issue here is that we play diffrently, I "demand" constant action (pk action) to keep me interested. sure, I did the ranking lower members of the cabal and getting them some gear but come on... I have spoken with 3-4 applicants though my time in the cabal, and while I think it is entertaining it's not -that- fun. >Tiger/Rattlesnake sucks????!!!!???? Imm's I...I...wow. He >thought that combo sucked...
Play one, then comment on it. Yes, occasionally there was a moment when I could dart out, shift to rattlesnake and regen up some, but not often. some things work better in theory than in practise.

That is fantasy world, no way would they let the arial tank while a tiger "dishes out" damage. as if it did.
>Shifters...what can I say on this note. THey're my favorite >class.
Yes, it shows. Some classes fit better to play with for some people, obviously. shifters are just -not- my playing style. at all.

Yes. What you are failing to see is what the assassin grant through the bond.
