When the imm's are done deleting stuff they don't want us to see, also I bet they are making some sweet loot off of it, how many have already donated to get the pbf up??

I don't know of any pfiles that have been edited to delete anything. There are various histories that can be updated, and one of them is Immortal only which isn't published via PBF, and where any of that "stuff they don't want us to see" would go.

Also...when I chekced earlier today, we were 100% up to date with all paid for PBFs. Now go somewhere else to make #### up.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

I'll second Isildurs comment - it was nice having you around. It was fun watching my PK range dwindle by 50% or more the moment you logged in and it was nice to have someone know the knacks of the game so well on your side. I'm sure the Chasm will miss you.

Almost every time I log on, I get kind of a nervous feeling in the pit of my stomach because my pk range looked so damned discouraging. When you logged on, that feeling immediately lifted. It was bittersweet, being on the side of a monster that reduced a necro with a full army to a mere summoning bitch. But I was perfectly happy in that position.

And as for how you lost your weapon.....weak. That was the most anticlimactic #### I've ever seen. No blaze of glory. No massive Fort-Outlander-Battle-Trib ubergank where everyone dies but the last guy kills you.

Nope.

One moment it was there. The next, gone.

C'est la vie. Or whatever. I'm not French.

Hope you were lying about the no more serious characters thing. Best luck with your next.

The suspense is killing me.

Is it because it was termed buggy or questy? Or purely out of respect for Ravon not wanting the method publisised? I really, really have to know

Some quick goodbyes:

After I played Thos and lost his weapon in Hell, I really wanted to make another AP for exploring. I like that side of the game a lot more and an AP is the class that can do the most in small groups. I had a lot of fun with Ravon and got to see most of the stuff I wanted to see.

In general though, this character spoiled the game for me to some extent. The cheating accusations ran really wild and annoyed me quite a bit, considering my last character had built up 120 charges straight at the end, and the three most prominent players at that time were 2 IMMs and Daurwyn. My second (and last) imm interaction in 400 hours was Twist telling me "Be careful, everyone thinks you're cheating".

Lashes: Bash on a drow AP is overpowered with almost 400 charges. Lashes goes beyond that. It's slightly less good than it should be right now, it was significantly too good before. I doubt you'll see another succesful drow AP with the changed lashes skill, because, face it, drow AP's suck.

People complained that I was too conservative. I don't think those same people have had a successful AP. At the same time, I lost three or four weapons in equally bizarre scenarios with Ravon that cost me 100+ charges altogether before I got started on the good weapon, which is when I started to start playing more conservative.

These days, I'm traveling around way too much playing tournament poker to find more than a few minutes of time here and there on the slow hotel wireless. The last death was mostly being lagged out and I didn't feel like logging in once every week for an hour as a leader to keep what was left of my set.

Immortals didn't seem to like me much this time around. 2500 imm exp (as it turns out, not even enough to pick most of the good AP edges), no sort of cabal edge, and one psuedointeraction with the now defunct Iukulli where he showed up, called me a "machine", then left. Also frustrated me that Daevryn wouldn't respond to my notes about a bug that caused an archmage to crash the game right before I had him killed, or that a certain ST quest wasn't fixed, or that no one did anything about my tattoo. No problem. I know my RP wasn't stellar.

Sorry to all those I got killed on 9th. And to everyone wondering: No, I didn't lose my whip in PK. It was some sort of perhaps bug, perhaps by design thing that I sort of thought would happen anyways. I'm sure it'll be changed around the time Nep plays his next AP =D.

Thanks for a great game. I'm not sure I will have another serious character after this one.

-Som/Altin/Thos et al.

Having been on the receiving end of a couple of those myself with mortal A-P's I do sympathize, though we talked about this one a bunch, and are content to leave this one as designed.

I never interacted with Ravon, but I liked the "idea" of there being a "Ravon" around. It was fun to see all the whining and hand-wringing you caused.

That said, I'm a little jealous. I took one peek at your gear once, and for all the time I've been playing this freaking game, I still don't know how to get most of it. Woe is me.

...since what you put up there sorta makes it seem as if we were in "cahoots" or something.

What I called you up to talk about was the fact that we had cheating accusations against you (IRC permas, IM hookups, etc.) and that while there wasn't any evidence of it, the number of complaints made it so that we were going to have you under a microscope. I felt you deserved to know that.

I'll have you know you kept me awake on a couple of nights, wondering what sort of character concept I could make that had a chance to take you out alone. I had a couple ideas that I'm pretty sure would not have worked.

All in all, good char. Good luck with your next(?).

Would that have been...

Ijuwatora - I just want to kill ravon

or

Rawibemybi - Ravon will be my bitch

or

Ifidokira - If I don't kill ravon...

probably more like...

Iditorajuliev - I died to ravon just like everbody else

I'd been told by more than one person that there were logins being organized for the sole purpose of charge-gathering, before he became such a monster. These were people who (claimed they) were told "We're all logging in at so and so time in staggered intervals to go and charge Ravons axe. You in"?

I can't honestly say that the accusations were true or say that they aren't true. Without being someone who personally speaks to Ravons player OOCly, everything is secondhand (but not however third hand, these were people who claimed to have been asked directly to participate). Most of these people weren't what I would call close friends, but more than one was someone I would certainly consider reliable. Two are people who I would easily consider extremely reliable, and who have never been near so much as a whiff of CF controversy and one of THOSE is someone currently on staff and active.

That being said, these same accusations have sprung up before anytime a character gets to be powerful. There's always some accusation of cheating in one form or another, be it immortal favoritism, OOC help, timed logins, bug abuse, or god only knows what else. One thing I notice is the amount of accusation tends to run at about the same rate as the increase in said characters power. Are they all cheaters? No. Are they all innocent? Doubtful.

Ultimately, only the players actually involved will ever REALLY know for sure. Even the staff can't know everything, only what actually happens on the mud.

I'm not going to add my own speculations on this one, because I have an admittedly tainted view of the character. After having been subjected to probably one of the cheapest kills of my entire CF career by the character who least needed to kill someone that way, I was left with a pretty big feeling of "bleh". Perfectly acceptable IC for an evil bastard to do something that cheap, but it was certainly the low road in a "high road/low road" situation.

Before I had lightning control, there were no accusations of cheating and I struggled for every charge. Afterwards, there was no point to even having a gang because the chance of permalag was so high. No one single character was going beat me in multiple encounters with lightning control. Mostly because opponents are just making dumb mistakes. Other people just got in the way. I'm not sure you realize just how good the synergy was in the interval from 50 to 150 charges.

<<I'm not going to add my own speculations on this one, because I have an admittedly tainted view of the character. Haha. I wish I knew what specifically you were referring to. Still funny.

<<Two are people who I would easily consider extremely reliable, and who have never been near so much as a whiff of CF controversy and one of THOSE is someone currently on staff and active.

Just curious who this is. "I know this guy ON STAFF and he knows that you were cheating but I can't say anything more". Seems like every other idiotic accusation I've ever heard of. Why did the Imm's look and find nothing? Who is it? If it's a guy on staff, why didn't he do anything? This is just blatant trolling.

In any case, the playerbase is full of people like the above poster and it is most of the reason I don't enjoy playing CF anymore.

<<"We're all logging in at so and so time in staggered intervals to go and charge Ravons axe. You in"?>>

Maybe you are just sad you weren't invited. You must be under 300 pounds to permagroup with me.

Well, just wanted to congratulate you on a kickass PK machine! Insane really! You've killed all of my chars at some point since I returned from CF in may I believe. (Not 100% certain) Except Cedek who was a Scion briefly.

Just kickass classy! Keep it up! And I sure hope you return to CF despite some of those bickering sore losers.

I actually don't have an opinion on the cheating accusations one way or another. I didn't really play enough at the time when you were around, I was already logging in too infrequently to run into you much. I'm just telling you what was being said. You take it for what that worth, because you are already fully aware of whether or not there was cheating going on. You don't need to speculate, so I'm not trying to convince you one way or another. Nor am I trying to convince anyone else, since I honestly couldn't give a rats ass one way or the other.

Or maybe since I'm quite under the 300 lb mark, you should spend less time CFing and more time clue huunting. I wasn't accusing you of permagrouping, I thought I had spelled that out clearly enough. I suppose not.

I liked you a great deal, and I watched you more than you realized. You kind of killed my desire to interact with you when I saw our entire conversation posted in one of the chat channels, however. That wasn't the best thing to do when I told you specifically that I didn't want to be revealed yet.

Anyway, I thought Ravon did a great job adding a new Zorsaul-caliber entry to the halls of infamy and am sure people will strive to come close to the standard you've set for the AP class for years to come. Good luck with your next!

Ravon was an interesting Char for this age but nothing against him, Palan was still much Scarier to me. Maybe it had to do with Palan and Zorsaul being around at the same time that made it more interesting, two of the deadliest charachters in CF's history. And once again back then the acusations of cheating were flying so much it wasnt even funny.

Unsurprisingly, I wasn't responding to your notes during periods in which I wasn't logging on at all. Not that you necessarily would have known that, but it wasn't anything personal. CF just wasn't where my time was going.

"I fought this archmage at some point in the past and the MUD crashed" also isn't enough for me to figure out why. I'm sure if I had logged on during the week in which the first note was presumably sent about it that I would have seen a better one, but I didn't.

Beyond that, I think you understand the makings of your situation, such as it was. Ravon definitely got to be a very, very tough character, but when I did watch him he wasn't, aside from that, all that interesting. We've all made PK-effective characters that somehow just didn't have that spark of interestingness / good RP / whatever, and hopefully none of us are too surprised when there's not a lot of love heaped on them.

Q: Did you log off, and then log back in several minutes later, as a tactic?

I saw you do this multiple times, and you'd always log back in right when people were retrieving their items from the Chasm, when of course they'd approach the matter differently (or not at all) with you there. I could chalk once or twice up to coincidence, but like I said I saw it multiple times.

Just curious.

C'mon. Give me a little credit.

Also, I can't believe I failed *3* flees that time east of the Watcher to let you escape. I wasn't going to use that tactic, but you guys trying to drag me off a cliff was lame. It was all a tactic to get you to turn off eyes in the end, anyways. You probably would have thought what I was going to do next was cheaper in the end, but alas, you deleted before I could cheese you =D

Not my idea, but there was no way I was going to keep it from happening, if it could be done.

I was kinda just "there" for that one. And hey, you lived anyway (I think that was probably an oversight in the code saving your ass, btw). The time at the Fortress that you mentioned...it pissed me off because a 400+ charge, insanely-geared AP decided to try the most cheesy thing possible as opposed to just kicking ass. Albeit, a sound tactic...I mean it's that way for a reason, right? Still...y'know.

But on the flipside I can understand being pissed at the cliff attempt. You're lucky I didn't try earth rippling you over the edge instead (or I'm lucky I didn't try...either way! )

I did, however, come up with a whole cheap-o plan to take you down. It involved that one place where I escaped from you...sneakily. You either were oblivious to the ploy, and got lucky, or were wise to it.

Well, if there was one place you were going to kill me, that's probably one of the most unlikely. You should have stuck around in the other half of that area - I was coming after doing a quick preparation or two, and we would have had an interesting - albeit very brief fight.

You actually had a shot at the Outlander refuge when myself and Meldressen were trying to retrieve against 5 or six of you. If you had anticipated me using the orb of travel and planned for it, I think I could have died there. C'est la vie. Too bad we didn't fight more, especially in that one place.

Remember me trying to zap you a bunch of times?

That was damnation.

Not sure it would have negated the effect (probably not), but it was the best I could provide to the battle.

I did try to grease potential wand users, weapon jugglers, and the like. Ravon was no exception. That time at the Refuge, though, I can't recall if I tried to grease.

I had a hunch about damnation due to my own orb failing to fire while cursed in the underdark.

I figured it was the underdark effect, but was holding out a bit of hope for curse being a factor.

i know in the later years of yevs life if both he and cezar were on at the same time magic was generally very weak, especially after we threw tons of stuff into the forge. that might explain why it failed in the underdark. The orb pretty much works almost anywhere and anytime, even in the village... UGG!!!

I thought you were just content to camp out at the entrance. BUT, I know how powerful you would have been in that other place, since I know how it works. Bleh, speaking in such a round-a-bout way is annoying!

Why is that lame? Seems to me when a character gets as powerful as Ravon, there's no reasonable way to take him down. What would you describe as a non-lame tactic that could actually get the job done? If the only other option is go like a lamb to the slaughter, it seems acceptable, or even admirable to use any tactic (within the rules) that will put an end to the ridiculousness.

You certainly were one tough SOB. About the only person I couldn't beat in a fight. And everytime I came up with a counter to one of your abilities (ie lashes of the slave) you went and produced another tactic against me (damn you dispelling curse). I had two ideas to counter that. One, start off cursed, two get fortified faith. You were a beast, but sadly, I didn't interact with you much outside of combat. Most of my enemies I managed to at least RP with them. You, not so much. Anyhow, good luck with your next.

I was a huge Ravon snooper; I don't think there was a time when you and I were both on where I didn't snoop you for at least a little bit (unless you were in ST or Hell, in which case I bowed out pretty quick). Your fights were just a lot of fun to watch; you were skilled, smart and were ballsy, which is a great combination for PK.

Your RP was, to me, meh. It really felt to me like you were mostly about PK as a means to garner the power to explore. Not that you were a *bad* RPer by any means, you just didn't seem to ever really spark. It almost felt like your heart wasn't into it. And while I'm cool with that (hey, do what you like to do!), I just couldn't ever really justify throwing XP at you for anything other than PK related activities. And once you built the charges up, I couldn't even justify doing that, since you were too powerful to ever really have the opportunity to do anything unique or interesting in your fights.

It would have looked like this: "Kastellyn has added 500 XP for: Ravon killed another group of three while raiding Empire. Second time today. Le yawn."

So it's not that the Imms didn't *like* you, it's just that it was hard to find standout things to reward you for (the bad-assery and subsequent PKness bringing their own set of rewards).

As for lashes, not sure how they tweaked it, but it was just sick at high charges, and that was never the intent. I don't think anyone ever envisioned a 400+ charge whip wielding AP.

And I, for one, don't give a crap if people thought you were too conservative! You played how you wanted to play to achieve your goals, and you were successful as hell in doing so. I think anyone who has played an AP to Hero knows this. There were more than a few times when I (as Khar) regretted very, very, very much not being just a tad more conservative.

Overall, I thought you did a great job of rolling up a highly effective, extremely challenging, non-standard AP. You proved that both dark-elf and whips are viable options, and you played a character that had a very powerful (and very positive, IMHO) impact on the game.

Good luck winning mad cash on the poker circuit, and I hope you get the CF bug again (and the time) to throw another character into the mix.

The first time I didn't know about the seeing hidden bit.
The last time I saw a character of mine die that fast was
my first orc as a lowbie who headed to darsylon to rest for the
repop.
I just assumed a death every time I saw you log in after that.
*rofl* but it was still fun trying to figure out where you might
be at THAT moment, and can I get that blackjack off fast enough???

The sands of sorrow one was funny as hell though.
After the others who were there are dead I will probably post
that one. A 2 minute roller coaster of Crap-we're-dead ... no wait
we can make it out of this ... better! we can kill HIM! wait them..
crap-we're-dead ... no no we can make it... hehehe.
Well okay most of that just went on inside my head, no time for
typing out gt's in THAT situation.

Still you were cool about how you went about things, you knew you'd
kill me in a heart beat, you knew I'd come try to defend anyway like
an idiot. You could have rubbed it in and didn't, which I
appreciated.

If you come back, best of luck with the next.

I liked Ravon alot but I got really miffed at hearing all the accusations of cheating and that scions were all a perma or irc connected bunch etc etc. I knew it was bollocks as I only found out who you were after I was inducted and I then found out who played a few of the others but as I dont use IRc for anything other than idle chat I just felt like the achievements of You, Chrichuk, Llorenz, myself and a couple others were somehow kept in the shade when they were really all solid in their own right. It did get a little boring for me as you grew in power for a few reasons:

1) Loads of people logged out when you logged in so hunting became almost pointless.
2) Raids were never really risky when you were on so I actually started to play a few lowbie characters when you were on instead of Elemek, which was a mistake as it diluted my own character.
3) My log in times were never suitable to actually aid the quest that I managed to seed and have you work on with the cabal. I enjoyed the start of it all but not having the hours to go into hell etc made me feel a little worthless in that department after starting it all.

You did kick a lot of ass and the setting up of Pissudin on the ocean was really 'amusing', even if I did feel dirty afterwards.

heh i remember that one time when you found me and 5 others in organia and killed all of us. we were betting in group which one was going to die first and stuff. heh.. btw how did you find us? i think it was me, sybea, adina, katara(i think), krengner, and someone else..

and there was this other time where the fortress darascus had me wait by the outlanders base and stalk you a bunch and try to assassinate you, to get that whip away from you. i got all the stalks off however you were gone by the time i got to where you were.

It's very easy to tell when a bunch of people are in Organia.

Even if you have no power to locate people (and there are such things in the game), people in Organia can't receive tells.

It's an easy way to figure out who is there.

"Tell Patick I'm coming for your soul."

If Patick can't hear you, try someone else. If those that can't hear look like a group... they are probably in Organia or one of a very limited other number of places that prevent it.
