The way you can just shrug off being horribly abused in all orifices, and never miss a beat and still be an allaround fun character to have on, is truely inspiring. I wish I could be more like you as a player. Just all around awesome.

I was just scrolling through Philis' PK deaths, and noticed I'm not in there nearly enough. One error I know for sure is this:
Dec 20, 2007|Lv 51|The Shadow Grove|Kelteon vs 1: Philisrhynga (100%,KB)
I know with 100% certainty that Kelteon died here, and I killed Philis after.

Exams finished, and I had 2 weeks to play CF as much as I want. Cue Philis.
Wow, what torture she was. I can't say I'm sad to see her go in the least. Not only was she probably the worst PK character I have ever played (beyond the initial learning stage of this game) but I felt like the deck was always stacked against her. Skills never seemed to work at the right times, I ate stupid mob deaths and I had crappy gains. All in all it was mostly horrible experience. My legacies seemed to never come into play. Dungard permalagged me countless times despite having taken Hamonious Equilibrium and Llorenz stunned me for entire fights over and over after having Resist Arcane edge and Bards still tooled me nonstop with Fortress of the Spirit. Obviously I don't expect the edge/legacy to negate these characters, but I thought it would help....in retrospect I would've done things completely differently. Having said that, there was one thing that kept Philis going...
The Imm that roleplayed with me was just awesome. I convinced myself several times not to delete (I also love con dying my ragers caus that's the only way to go baby!) because of the obvious thoughtful work the IMM in question put into the interactions. I am far from an elite RPer, and I usually freeze up in front of imms but I really got a kick out of the couple run ins with the Svirf Emissary who played right into my role. I was stunned by how cool it was, and you have my sincere respects. It's just too bad this character obviously wasn't lasting long enough to have any real sequence of RP events of consequence. The extra con given was basically just more torture for me, but I appreciate the gesture. I even trained my con with an edge because I thought I could make the rites and maybe hope to get Veteran of Battle or something and stick it out, but the Rites came at literally the ONLY time in the past 2 weeks that I couldnt' CF. Just another crappy thing about Philis.
I could gripe about what I think are some unbalanced changes (dex in general seems just crazy powerful and A/B/S invokers that evade my pummel and lags me for 3 rounds in quicksand is just bogus IMO). I don't want to sound like the bitter veteran who is a sore loser, so I will just stop.
As far as characters I interacted with, some were terrible, some were good. I won't go into the bad too much because I think it's a bit hypocritical since I'm sure lots of people hated Philisrhynga.
Gwevsomething invoker : Here I will go into the bad, I've played many Marans, and if I was in the Fort with you I would probably ask to be uninducted so I didn't have to interact with you. Everything about you just felt wrong and like some prick OOC trying to make the game miserable for everyone else. Are you 9 years old? If so then that's ok and I have lots of hope for you as a person. If not, meh, gl with life. I have never full sacced someone in 5 years of playing this game, but I think you would have been the first and I hate that you made me feel that way.
Iltch : Effective, but annoying, but that's how you should be I guess. I don't think I get the whole 'nexus' thing. I guess i didn't roleplay enough with you guys.
Shifters : Almost all of you smoked me, if I thirsted right away I would make you run, heal up, then come back and kill me. Most of you were fun to chat with about stewing and were cool when you killed me.
Invokers in general : Sucks that it's such a boring cycle....flee if you don't have A/B/S/prot/stoneskin up, cast quicksand kill Philis if you do. Not your faults, but just wish the fights were more interesting. THere are some very powerful ones right now, so good job on that.
Yevandr : Very solid, I liked your presence and you'll be a solid Commander.
Harol : Don't take dying so hard and you'll be a great Drillmaster. To be honest, it's probably better if you don't let the OOC bleed through at all, I know this is hard because even with Philis after I ate some bad deaths I was just fuming and roleplayed pretty badly. Take a deep breath, count to 10 and then just start regearing.
Note on defenders: It seemed like most of you just took defender path so you had field dressing for yourselves. I never saw people patching up the giant, and i almost always had to ask for a bandage if I was hurt and you were nearby. Village is supposed to be a brotherhood, but I rarely got that feeling like in the days of Acaga and Gerylanst. That being said, Philis probably didn't do much to change that.
Everyone else : Some looted, others didn't hwen they could've/should've. I try to expect to be looted, so i usually take full loots pretty decently. Sorry if I whined at all but i don't think I did too much. I think I looted once or twice a couple things, but usually I didn't touch anyones corpse, magical or not. I try to keep things fun for everyone, and dying is punishment enough .
In general I was disappointed at the amount of 'safe' players in hero range right now that would take zero chances in a fight against me. There were some good fights though, and I appreciate that. I also realize the dangers of fighting a berserker so meh, maybe I'm super biased and just wanted you to lay down and die for me .
Alright, I guess i'll leave my name even though I'm pretty ashamed of Philis.
See you in the fields,
Gryshilniar/Icthaen etc.

I really didn't take pride or was happy killing you, because well, I knew you well with Ghirnlark and I like your spirit and you will go far in this game with that attitude.
Having said that, Philis grew pretty bitter at always getting smoked by Fortress and that fight with you and Darascus sealed the deal of her not just letting elf bards (there were like 5 of you guys) sleep her and just take her to fiendtown. But no hard feelings, I think I got myself killed twice protecting your corpse (to Llorenz and Dungard ) but I don't regret it. Keep it up, but PLEASE slow down just a tiny bit on the bard notes. They lose their impact and important when there is a new one everday.
All that said, gl with Kelteon and anything else in life.
Cheers.

I thought Philis was awesome!! Your pots and stuff cracked me up, and I thought "wow, this guy must be cool to play the village with." Our fights were fun, and you always took losing well. In a way, I'm sorry that I contributed to your con death - for what that's worth. I'll miss seeing you around.
To the more nuts and boltsy stuff - I'm like, shocked, that you had harmonious. Whatever it might have done for you didn't seem to make enough of a difference in our fights, as you said. I've had it before myself, and I remember being dissapointed as well. Thing is, from a game balance perspective you you make a character unlaggable it will pretty much never die - so... tough balance to strike.
Anyhow. Best wishes man, good luck on finals and with future CF chars.

Damn you Dungard, I want my 4 con back (wait no I don't). Yeah I think the most angry OOC I got was when I was permalagged by you for like the 15th time. Just so frustrating when I enter something with 1000 hp and i get it in when i have 50hp. I also should have taken the time to practice mace but I'm super lazy when it comes to skill perfection . All in all, Dungard struck me as an impressive character, anything bad I said was just IC and your attitude reminded me of the happy go lucky marans I love to play.
I tried to press the stew and pots things pretty hard for a while and I kind of got a kick out of seeing even my enemies talk about if I just got stewed or if I stewed someone or who was stuck in my pot. Always fun to be able to impact your peers even in a small but positive way.
Gl with everything dude.

if as a villager getting lagged out is your problem. If your a high int race I suggest taking striking. If your pretty much anyone else then take fires.
While neither legacy actually stops the lag they let you out tank someone trying to simply lag you out. Combine those with surrounding and then you got a real hard to lag villager (well laging as a tactic against you becomes innefective in lots of situations)
Fires is great cause it sneaks up on people, they get you down low on health fast then spam bash and suddenly stop hitting you hehe.

Yeah any relatively high spec warrior pretty much just smoked me in melee and since I couldn't seem to break your swords it equated to pwnage. You did seem to usually have stoneskin + prot which I think is probably pretty comparable to resist.
Good fights and I enjoyed ranking with you as Ghirnlark and seeing you from the opposite side as Philis.

First off, why you gotta con die when I'm not on to sing for you??? I knew you were close, and now I'll forever regret having missed it.
Well, I'm sorry you con died. I hope you had fun with Philis. I had fun with Philis. I really enjoyed taunting you when you died, and I was really looking forward to seeing you make stew for the rites. I probably spent way too much time watching Philis, but I kept thinking... any second now she's gonna win, and I was ALWAYS pulling for you.
Why? Because win or lose, the bits in the pot were going to sing. Corrlaan pointed out Philis' holiday role entry, and I had to goad you as a svirf after reading that bit. When you won the role contest I think you got some further emissary action, and a swank belt customized just for Philis. I was hoping you'd catch Iltch before he got the jack off (heh) just once and toast him good, but I never got to see it.
I sincerely hope you enjoyed this character even though you ate it plenty. Keep stuff like that coming. A fire giant who wanted to be a chef but wound up hating magic and anything smaller than them because of a new years eve seduction by a svirf mage. Now that's classy.
Again... anonymous while I sort out who I'm gonna be when I grow up.

I already said it, but our interactions absolutely kept my character going when I was dying 7-8 times per login. I was truly laughing out loud when the Svirf emissary gave me the belt, I looked at it and it said something like 'To an unmagical Giant for a magical night. Classic stuff.
Yeah I never ever got Iltch or any of my true nemesis's - Llorenz, Dungard, Nolyek, Iltch, Eoria etc. but you can't have it all and this character just didn't have it in the cards to be successfull. I also made a ton of mistakes which hopefully I'll learn from .
As for you growing up, whatever it is I hope I am lucky enough to interact with it, because you are and will be a great boon to CF. THere was something just fun and unpretentious about the couple interactions, and I loved that. I didn't feel as much pressure as I usually do in front of imms (And I even tried being one :p )
Again, thanks a bunch. I'll see if I have the logs to post some of them here or on Dio's. I'll also try to get my PBF so we can have a good laugh over my pk ratio, or role

The player behind Philis (who's a very good friend of mine in real life) is the kind of guy you want playing CF. There's a reason a lot of people keep saying "good to have you back Grysh!", "it's awesome that you're back Grysh!", "keep them coming Grysh!", etc.
He's the best example of the guy who perseveres, takes a painful death (many in Philis' case!), gets full looted, ganged, but still makes the game fun for everyone else around him, will not full loot jackasses who full looted him, will go out of his way to help newbies, etc...and all of this even though OOC, Philis was pure frustration for him.
Anyway, Grysh, glad you came back! Keep them coming! And I'll see you on the fields!

It's a real shame to see you go. Fjarn and Philis probably would have made a great team, in that "nothing ever seems to go my way" kind of way.
I feel you on dex changes. Nep may defend the evade code, but I swear to god there's only so many "bad RNG" days a guy can take before he stops believing in statistics.
I don't usually post with active characters, but I thought Philis deserved a pat on the back and an "I feel you" on dex and brains getting melted..

Heh, yeah it's a shame I didn't get to see you much. This is probably my 6th or 7th villager and I didn't get the brotherly vibe, probably because there weren't that many hero villagers on at the same time very often and the ones that were were usually evil and that doesn't translate well to helping each other out.
Fjarn seemed cool, I like your combo on paper a LOT, although I don't know how it will work out in the current CF landscape. I always wanted to play a scout, I just need to get the balls to not have deathblow/field dressing and roll one up.
Hang in there dude, things did go Philis's way in some fights, and they will for you.

Aw. I really liked Philis. Never really wanted to kill you cause I saw how hard you took it all the time. I did get you that once but that was mainly from the pincer spam. Something about pincer that doesn't like cheetah. Hardly ever seem to be fast enough to dodge it. I'm glad you took that axe. I was trying to figure out a way to help a little without seeming like I felt sorry. I would have got you some other axes but all the ones I saw were magical. Oh well!

Haha that said I really enjoyed your company and the whole stew thing just cracked me up. I only wish I could reach your level of rp. I completly agree with all of your criticisms of the new dex changes, its friggin rough being a high damage villager now. Having to thirst to fight abs shifters every single time just sucks hard core.
I wish every cabal had the parity rules like village, pk would be a lot more fun, but the noobies need to latch onto someone and eventually players learn not to be ####s to each other when they realize how much it sucks happening to them.
Good luck with your next.

Anyone that knows me or my characters would know I was the player of Philis pretty quick. There is an elite CF group who can die 8+ times in one login session and not be doing it on purpose. I am a prominent member of this group.
Yevandr just oozed solid villager through and through, and I thought your RP was just fine. I see a solid run as Commander ahead of you, so enjoy it as it's a damn tough position to get (I've never even come close!) and you earned it.

I liked Philis alot, I know sometimes you got mad at me for being hyper aggressive but its sorta spelled out in the role among other things. I liked philis alot and thought you were one cool char and always got a good chuckle about Philis stew etc. Good luck with the next and way to go down like a villager should.

I tried to get mad because if I don't, I think I would come off as a storm giant more than an actually evil, albeit ridiculous, fire giant. But no hard feelings, Aritu had good spirit though I think you can do even better at hero because your combo is very solid. I think my first villager was Liurnya, a felar Vynmylak tattoed defender and I had a blast. Enjoy yourself.

Unless you wish 181 hours of pain and frustration on Yhorian, I don't get it! But I'm dying to know.

I think this character probably just really really did not play to your style.
For example, even as a fire giant, I would say that with Fortress, a one on one fight vs. most bards (something like Emperor is a bit of a special case, of course) should still be heavily in your favor. (Or I'm ass with bards. I've fought that matchup from both sides and that's how I read it.)

My encouters with Fortress consisted of : Gwevfedl(sp) and Darascus smoking me for obvious reasons (quicksand + a/b/s/prot/stoneskin 70 dam iron axes doing grazes), Dungard who just outclassed me with his combo, Nolyek who I had close fights with, Bjorn who outmelleed me and had dam redux to counter any big pincer or pummell and seemingly unbreakable swords and elf bards who slept me/sang fiend etc. I think I beat or killed a few paladins but I'll have to get the PBF to see. That was the only class I could compete with (a fight that obviously favors me).
Eoria I just had zero chance against, strange bracers enabled her to smoke me in melee so bash wasn't a viable option and once I was distorted I couldn't do much else but die with some class. The only bard I had any success against was Atalass, but even then I think she killed me three times. Pre-hero, the fiend (any bards fiend) would kill me in 3, maybe 4 rounds from full hp.

Forgot to mention Kostyan. I have mixed feelings about you, but all in all you came off as a damn evil dark-elf so props to you for that.
I don't think you can understand the frustration it was trying to fight you, and you taunting me nonstop was pretty cruel (yes it fits into your rp but geez dude, are you aware of what our fights were like?). You must've killed me 4 times at the Destructor, which is just ridiculous, I seriously don't think I hit you in melee more than 4 times in 30 fights. It was just gross how badly you owned me and how nothing ever worked against you. I must've missed half my dirt kicks on you and you must've either evade or STSF 1/3 of my skills. Add to that I basically was entwined after 2 rounds with you being unable to flee.
But gah, I disgress. Good fighting.

I figured you'd con-die before the Rites, actually! Nice to see you at least waited a day. Sorry this char didn't work out for you. FGRBW (Fire Giant Rager Berserker Warrior) can be a tough row to hoe, but there have been some successful ones out there - probably with different builds than you.
I thought you were, hands down, a total success in the RP department. I loved the stew concept, and I thought your RP in general was top notch. You definitely improved the RP of those around you, which is (I think) a great accomplishment.
I'll echo what others have said: you bring a lot of well-rounded characters to the game, and we all appreciate having you in our midst. Thanks, and good luck with your next incarnation!

Hah, I got a kick out of you the rot death belt, something about you saying 'now don't go and lose it right away' and sure enough I think I had it for about 1 hour of CF time. But I enjoyed having it for that one hour. I sound like a broken record, but thanks again for the interactions, stuff like that is never expected, but it can really inject life into a character that was really struggling, and make it worthwhile to hang in there.
I'm happy to see the dwarves are getting some love since I've played so many, enjoy Immland.
