To bad you died I was going to get you geared one of these days! But it was nice to have someone to greet you when you get on, especially when it is against hunsobo waserax and ktaar... But I enjoyed our time and talks, and I hope you can find time to come back! good luck with the next char and see you in the fields.

Wow, this was my first caballed character. I'm still pretty much a newbie. I really enjoyed it though. In my opinion the Fortress is a good place to start out. I learned a lot from you guys.
I con-loss'd for several reasons. After all the stuff I learned I kept having this nagging feeling that I could have done so much better. I also felt that I had not done a good enough job with the role and stuff since I still hadn't gotten any edges. I usually have two by this time. I also just wanted to see what happened when you con-loss'd as opposed to deleting. Finally, my wife is about to give birth to my second child and I know my time to play is going to be cut drastically. All in all, I learned a ton, I hope to be able to play more in the future.
Thoughts on the Fortress: At this time it was a great place for me to be. When almost everyone on your group list is evil or a rager it was nice to be able to sit in the Fort and talk to lowbies trying to do some recruiting. I also really enjoyed talking to recruits and learning what each character's role sort of is. That was very beneficial to me. On the downside, often times I was the only Fortie online and I always saw atleast one empire in my range.
Goodbyes:
Nathayla - Thanks! If it had not been for you I would never have ranked. It can be so daunting when almost everyone in your group list is evil. You have a lot of promise. I think you'll do a lot better as soon as you learn your way around.
Amada - You're a sweetheart. Thanks so much for the initial talk. I think I was planning on just being an independent again, but after talking to you I decided to go for the Fort and go in.
Lyriana - Thank you SO much for kind of taking me under your wing and teaching me stuff. You know a lot and what you've taught me will help me out so much.
Soayel - Thanks for inducting me. I was really thinking I'd never see you to get inducted. Wish we could have talked more.
Niheriva - You are a badass. I was with Juliane getting preps to go retrieve when you logged in, saw Ktaar, Waserax I think and Drakolas and went in yourself. I turned to Juliane and said, The Captain must be a badass, and she said, yeah, pretty much.
Thoric - Thanks for showing me stuff too. I'm sorry I got you killed that one time. My two year old had hit the mouse and clicked on something that screwed up zmud for a few moments. I knew you were pissed about it, sorry man.
Dewrit - Thanks for showing me the mage stuff. I think I could have thought of only one of those places on my own.
Drezen - I totally feared you, thought you were a badass. Enjoyed the limited banter we had.
Thanks to everyone else I interacted with! This character was the first in a long time to have a lot of rich character interaction. It's been a long time since I had good character interaction and I hope my next one will be similar.

Niheriva is pretty much custom built to jack up evil priests. And especially duergar. If someone told me to create a paladin and let me pick race, cabal, tattoo, virtues, and gear, and my goal was to shaft duergar shamans, Niheriva is pretty much exactly what I'd come up with. It doesn't hurt that the player is also no slouch. So while Niheriva facing three characters is still impressive, it's not quite as impressive when two of the characters are duergar shamans.

shaman beat the piss out of shield paladins, unless they have faith, in which case they are pretty damn close to invincible against shaman unless they are total noobs.
i have played both sides of the coin, my shaman tooled paladins till they all suddenly got faith and then it was just like hitting your head against a brick wall.
not to detract from nih he is def a very very talented player in addition to his class advantages.

Sect leader of divine has some pretty dam good powers himself. This isn't the first time he has taken a pot shot at Nih. So your race/class doesn't match up well, big deal. Neither does a necromacer, but I seen certian necromancers school Nih.

Have you ever had healing curse?
In order for your plan to work against a non-moron paladin, the shaman would have to first apply plague and poison, damage the paladin significantly (which usually involves dispelling sanc), then apply healing curse (which has a 2 round lag and is fairly hard to land on a target with decent saves, which includes most paladins).
I've played paladins, and yes, I had trouble with duergar shamans. Mostly because of dispel spam. That's not as scary when you can do the same right back to the shaman. Suffice it to say Niheriva also has several other advantages in the priest-fighting-department compared to my Paladin. That isn't a whine; just the truth.

Sorry, Daevyrn but this isn't the first time he has posted about Nih's powers. One was erased one qhcf.net. The bottem line is, you as a duergar shaman with empire powers are afforded a lot of advantages. You can see assassins and thieves. You get extra protection with black sanc. Your heals cost less. Your communes can't be spellbaned. You vs a healer outlander is no constest. You vs an invoker is pretty much in your favor. The list goes on...
So you vs one paladin, you got to take the opporunity to make sveral sly remark. Sorry, I just don't find others doing the same.

Jacinda pointed out that Niheriva must 'rock' because he took on three at once. Waserax pointed out simply that two were duergar shamans which were considerbly 'meat' for niheriva to eat. No way did waserax slight niheriva rather than point out that niheriva has a build that alows him to handle two of the three with super ease. For instance, take that same situation and make Niheriva another class trying to solo raid with that defense.

>Sorry, Daevyrn but this isn't the first time he has posted >about Nih's powers. One was erased one qhcf.net.
I explained why I posted that, and it wasn't to slight Niheriva.
>The bottem line is, you as a duergar shaman with empire powers >are afforded a lot of advantages.
Sure. And this has no bearing on my assessment of Niheriva's ability to kick duergar shaman ass.
>You can see assassins and thieves.
Alright. They're still less likely to be killed by me than I am to be killed by Niheriva.
>You get extra protection with black sanc. Your heals cost less.
Do either of these make me especially more scary? You could give me invulnerability and infinite mana, and anybody who knows what he's doing still won't die to me (solo).
>Your communes can't be spellbaned.
True. Unfortunately I'm still dying to ragers. Man do I suck. Now I'm just depressed.
>You vs a healer outlander is no constest.
Most people vs. a healer outlander is no contest. Niheriva vs. a healer outlander is no contest. "Duergar shaman" is hardly unique in that regard. That said, what are my odds of killing an outlander healer? Not very high.
>You vs an invoker is pretty much in your favor.
Same issue as with the healer. I might, and I emphasize might, be able to make an invoker flee. Like this fight I just had with Tumarellen, where he took on me and an axe-spec Blade. He pretty much ignored me the whole fight, killed the blade, then sticks around for another 8 rounds or so before fleeing and teleporting at his leisure. Still covered in bleeding wounds. As long as he wands up and is prepared to handle rot then he has very, very little to fear from Mr. Duergar Shaman.
>So you vs one paladin, you got to take the opporunity to make >sveral sly remark. Sorry, I just don't find others doing the >same.
I'm really not trying to whine about how hard I have it or suggesting that Niheriva is somehow undeserving of the perks she's received. I just thought it was noteworthy that she's achieved the absolute pinnacle of ass-beatery when it comes to priest vs. priest fights. You don't see that very often.

and say that Niheriva is setup and completely able to destroy any evil character. I can wand up with the "almighty" ram/goose and still get tooled like a newb by him. For me, it has a lot more to do with his special little area attack virtue. Sorry, Niheriva is so stacked that the "fun-stick" isn't even there to fight him anymore. The last time I got him close, and I mean to writhing his little cloak took him away to safety. So, screw you anonymous poster, you don't know jack.

I made him flee that being said he is one decked out char, and eq does make a huge difference in this game. Although I do think these cloaks add absolutely nothing to the game. Nep i thought the basic idea in the game was that everyone should be killable?

Thanks, Gillen. I had a lot of fun with this character. I'm glad I could teach you something. I know you have a baby to contend with to get to play. I understand that. I have a two year old and another on the way. I pretty much can only play when she sleeps.
I had fun running around with you. Best of luck with your next character. I know the ranger class was very hard for me. Well, I have had a hard time with PK on all of my characters, but I liked Rangers for pure ranking. I thought they ranked fast, atleast my felar and arial rangers did. Giant ranger takes much longer I bet.
Anyways, just try to learn a few new things with each character, that's what I try to do.
Take it easy.

Ah, a two-year old and a baby coming, exactly what I had. Now a 3 year old and a 1 year old (who stopped sleeping well for me recently!)
I only get to play from work and late at night when kids cooperate. It's impossible to mud with an infant, especially when also trying to keep it secret from your wife! But, as you know, with kids, mud time is even more critical for your sanity.
congrats on the new baby coming, btw, and good luck again.

Oh no no, who is going to read the maps for me now? I am glad I could help you, or better, I thank you for all your help, particularly in those cases, many cases in which I got lost. I will take your advice and try to learn my way around. I am happy I found this world of interaction of the characters behind the characters running around Thera, right here.
Hope to see you around, perhaps in between the bottle feedings or late-night diaper changes laugh* Congratulations to your family ! I wonder what name you will choose. :-P

Hey! Yeah, thanks for the help. Without you I wouldn't have ranked at all. You have a lot of potential if you'd just get out of your guild! I only say that because with my newest character I see you in there all the time. Ya gotta get out and explore some. I still use the qhcf.net site as a crutch when it comes to makes a lot, but the more you navigate yourself the better you get. I used to always be the followee and I never learned too much until I started either trying to recreate the navigation or logging a trip and reading it/figuring it out later. That's what I was trying to tell you one time, to make sure you log everything so you can go back and read it later, not sure if it came across right though.
Anyways, I hope you are still having fun with the game, that's what it is here for.
We named our son Justin. He's almost 6 weeks old now. Thanks for the post! See ya around!
