Hated fighting you through your assassin defenses, arial dexterity, and rager damage reduction.
Ah, well.. One less Rager to deal with.

Hey man what gives? We were just fighting like 20 minutes ago. Seems strange to see this.
Good luck on your next. - The Beast

They are alright for many things and I liked the assassins skills though there are sooo many of them its a bind to learn them.
I am just not feeling it for battle like I used to. You used to be able to stand a chance with a rager against groups but I guess so much has changed it is no longer the case. Last two ragers I have had have lost flavour in mid 30's and both died painfully awful deaths to necromancers who did not need to do anything to get the kill. One was a mummy plague and I lost the polearm and died in a round or two before I recovered from dirt kick and Krekaw to ghouls touch, which sucks because necromancers dont need it they already rock with their spells. Anyway, I was sick of imperial raids and having to fight through all the lowbies to try and get my item back only for the empire gank squad to do it again. It was boring, tiresome and not fun and when it is not fun I stop playing a game I play purely for fun.

Battle can still stand up against groups -- at least, I'm still seeing (some) Battle take it to a group and clean house.
In some ways it might be that the strategy of the game has evolved in ways and you haven't kept up. For example, if -5 strength from plague alone makes you lose your weapon as a polearm warrior, you've really erred in how you gear yourself. Swapping out some damage (or whatever) gear for a little more strength might dramatically turn that fight around.
Give assassin another try sometime. I find that a lot of warrior-heavy players take a few tries to really make the transition and tend to at first play essentially as a warrior with hide. Assassin does have strong fighting abilities and a lot of great crippling skills, but it can't necessarily expect to beat every fight or even every group with them alone. Use a little more stealth to scout out your opponents, catch them at a weak moment, or get a feel for how to fight them based on their gear. For example, you should fight an axe warrior geared for all damage differently than one geared for +20 strength.

It was the additonal -5str loss that screwed me with the no-lag to the necro for it happening that turned that fight. I generally do gear for strength as a warrior.
