I enjoyed most of our interactions. You had a lot of energy which I admire. Also, I think you put some effort into the personality, which came through as somewhat crass, but not without effect.

Sometimes I would just boggle at my keyboard, but I knew Ilimya would hardly raise an eyebrow.

Our first interaction was pleasant enough with Ilimya telling you how big a fool you were, but in the end Ilimya softened up a bit, especially when you could aid her get levels. I know I was too nice, but Ilimya needed a friend, or whatever one could call Gosen.

It was a shame that you were not satisfied with the game aspects you described. I hope you find more fun if you decide to play again.

my lovable char really hated you for calling her a fool, but in the end yeah, since I saw you alot more than the others, save oqoko, you got the brunt of her

*Gosen snuggles up to Ilimya*

my internet wont be connected until tomorrow, I do though, have another char I made when I was ticked. Think I will keep it. More to prove some things than not. Also pass time. It wont be until jan 9th before classes start, and will be my last char for a while yet until summer likely. whatever comes comes. I will say though, you were fierce. I liked your char and I liked that you put your balls to the wall with her. well.. maybe not balls. anyway. take care ilimya, and keep truckin eh

everyone I am now in misourri once again, just moved from nj. I left on tuesday of last week. Yes, I was online alot. No job because of moving, and I am not one to be able to sleep more than two or three hours at any given time.

I came back to carrionfields to pass time until the day I left, hopefully have some fun in the process and see how things have come. In alot of ways I am saddened even more, and were it not for Oqoko's char I would not even have stayed until the last series of events, to which I had sent mud notes to in reference of.

I will say alot of things in this note. First, I was also Faior. City ties thief of galadon. Except for the poison path which I wont take far, due to their minimized charm-person effect, I truly loved thieves after their revamp. While not powerful in melee without preparation/planning/etc they have alot to offer near every cabal, not to mention dirty things like planting *a skill probably most used by every thief of mine* and just ruining peoples' prep days *stealing their knapsack *. The large amount of tribunals, vs just about everyone else just made the cabal boring. The pbase to where it was back when I really played often has shrunk dramatically. This combined with thieves just seeming absolutely horrible to play compared to before I couldnt play him anymore. Blackjack at level 46 was still 75. Another thief, one that was in old age, still had not mastered blackjack. This with my char is with a few hours dedicated to nothing but blackjack alone. Here is a skill, though with a small fail rate and time, is very versitile and a thief can turn the tide of many very hard fights. The skill however, does not improve and cannot be relied on at all. A skill that does not go above 75 is a skill I only use in times of desparation. In much the same way trip *to note, I comment on bash and skills such as smash fr orangutan* felt like a complete and utter waste. perfected before level 15, easy for thieves eh? eh. Please read while I explain.
Trip was already balanced in game by things such as the fly spell, fly potions, some races already have flying *to keep in mind, shapeshifters and arcanes have the fly spell before level 10, and the reasoning behind the changes to trip and bash and the like was to give a little aid to mages in teh lower ranks while they were significanty weaker to melee classes. It was teh mages that chose not to get potions of flying, which were cheap even before the tower of sorcery came about. Chose to walk, usually visible I might add, outside the cities where no arbiters/tribunals were about. For 100 copper, something which you can get at level 11, 15 by bartering three items easily gotten by a level 11. 15 potions of flying, yet because of laziness of mages and pity on those that wouldnt attempt to prep in the slightest, several classes abilities of tripping were reduced to innefectiveness, and as for thieves, really their only ability in combat. Meanwhile, though classes such as necromancers and a-p's which did not have flying as a spell, and now no longer even needing to prepare for flight since the miss rate of trip is extremely high, flee/sleep is the strongest combo in early game. You will not keep a mage from being able to cast, no matter what your race/class/skill level is. Spells, which are powerful in their own, rule completely. things to cure diseases/poisons/etc/are all more expensive than that one potion of flying mages/shamans etc did not before bother to get. Later on with teh char in the mid ranks Trip did seem to work more often, though to me was still completely and utterly useless. I had not yet gone off of city ties to thug yet, but as tribunal was still fighting. I would give it about a 75% success rate when my enemies werent flying, which was just about everyone. Most all skills are two round abilities, and quite a few spells are the same. Trip/bash/smash lags just long enough for their two round to go off before trip/bash/smash goes off again. The lag of the skill is the same as the lag of theirs, so essentially the lag they are affected by the one tripping them is 0, while their ability is doing 100+, the trip is doing about 4 - 10 damage. Needless to say I wasnt pleased. While again it can be argued a thief can trip a round after, instead of immediately to make it three rounds of combat before they get off another spell, keep in mind at mid ranks, everyone CAN get barrier/aura/shield by level 32. This boosting necromancers flee/sleep as well as necromancers full undead army is enough to usually take three people with barrier/aura/shield with very little problems. Keep in mind invokers at around this time are fully shielded, take less damage than their spells to me anyway and the extra round of lag still near garauntee's the death of a thief *to which nearly happened through shield and stone skin, the two I had on me at the time* the invoker was fully protected level 39 I was level 34. The invoker wasnt flying but I did miss every one of my trips. anyway still kept with my thief.
went thug path for knife to have something that the thief can do, as well as cheap shot etc for the few times trip was worth something.
I stopped playing faior entirely at level 46. I will not touch another thief likely ever again until something is done drastically with them.

So I made gosen. Being a male, 27 years old I wanted to do a very cuddly bitch. i think I succeeded rather well. went shapeshifter because I wouldnt have to deal with the frustrations of skills, lack of memory where nice eq is, feeling like just wasting my time waiting for empowerment, etc, that and forms while not uber at hero ranks even with barrier/shield/aura, have their strengths. I went double utility hoping for the fox, which I got, and a form that might compliment it, to which I didnt. the ####ing worthless orangutan. Yes I did use orangutan more in combat than I did the fox. The fox is the best hunter there is. orangutan is a slightly better fighter, and had facebite. Unfortunately as a shifter in order to continue the rp with all the people you have been and interactions, you have to bend over and take up the ass what you get. I was already losing interest in this char with the cabal having.. a rather lack of people and applicants. Fully protected neither of my forms were great at fighting. At this point I would have deleted were it not my ongoing interactions with Oqoko and her story being oddly similar with mine, and teh romance involved in it.

A little later in my chars life I had noticed some things that were rather just plain stupid. Speckled pills, cheap, easy to get, heals with the heal spell, and can be done faster than a healer can full heal someone with the rejuvinate spell. not to mention that a few of these can even be gained at a single time with barter. I used the ones I got from isnhiooeua's corpse, but never bought any of my own because I personally believe no item in the game should do a job better than a job already in the game. In a short time in one fight a warrior I was fighting healed over 1k hp. I truly mean, within 3 seconds. Here was me thinking wow, healers were supposedly to have the best healing in the game but they have given an item with no limitations have it instead. Then me thinking as well didnt zulghinlour say two years ago the pills were going to be changed?
Only thing I can see is that they are easier to get.

Later still was my characters last straw. Apparently someone noticed old twarek assists the executioner in combat. To note, does not strike criminals, just assists the executioner/special guards. And you know just as well dwarves assist each other, namely the elite dwarven guards/orumous. So while raiding the tribunal with no defenders in range, tac also raiding with me. With their bashes/trips *effectively with the numbers being able to permalag* tac did die to the army at teh executioner, twice. I died later to the mass of them still chasing me. I just plain got tired. There should be no mobs that assist inner guardians. There should be no cabal that says hey, we cant be raided because we have unlimited guards/mobs to defend us. That is presicely what happened.

As well the anti-gang code needs finished. It only affects melee people from what I saw. Spells were not reduced in effectiveness/damage, nor did they miss at all. Just as well, anyone with mobs with them is immune to teh code, this includes all mercenaries/special guards, because the check for a mob fighting goes off. At least this is what I ahve seen during the times I ended up fighting multiple people/multiple + mobs.

I know this post has become a very long rant, and I am sorry. Its just that I used to love this mud, alot. I spent years playing it. Every few months I come back to see how things are doing. It seems while that the changes are in names of balancing classes, things are just made unbalanced. Shield and aura wands, while can mean alot, but barrier wands as well at level 32? Level 32 humans can fight level 23's, already that level 23 had a massive disadvantage, and has a 100% chance of dying to necro, you did what? I'm sorry, but again I am leaving CF. I do not like the things that have been done to this.

Anyway, I am out. Will respond to posts below, and in a few days when internet is up at my house, if I dont check it here at my brothers, I will be responding more.

You say you strongly disagree with pretty much every statement I made. At least elaborate. I am not against speaking with you about it

Fox is somewhat defensive with a bit of utility, orangutan is somewhat offensive with a bit of utility. Seems like a good fit. Other than Hyena, I can't think of what form I'd rather have.

Orangutan comparing damage output etc, fox outdamages the orangutan. both have speed, but fox has the run ability, which saves you from spam of e, enter, e, enter, etc. heh. it does save a bit of time even with lagless moving.
The orangutan can make someone bleed, and has an ability which has a chance to lag someone a short time. The two of them have the same armor class and same dodging ability.
To note, the bleeding is short duration, though damage isnt too bad. The lag is short duration and to me, completely worthless except for chasing someone, the smash starting the fight after they ran is worthwhile damage to use it, and even though if it misses, a good chance of missing, or doesnt lag at all, then you will likely lose the person you are fighting. most of teh time I didnt even switch to orangutan, just run to them and murder, or bite, since its a 2 round lag on murder and they can flee immediately because of wimpy.

I wanted hyena/fox, or rattlesnake/fox. Quite likely the reasons are obvious. I will also mention every utility shifter I have had, or utility/something else, I have gotten orangutan every time. Most all of them I deleted after I got it. I kept gosen, as said before, mainly because of oqoko and my interactions with others.

I'm dumbfounded by that post. If I didn't know better I'd be sure you were kidding.

All I can think to say is, if you (being Gosen specifically) think something is unbalanced about CF, odds are better you just don't understand the game. Reading you say orangutan is terrible is like reading a statement from someone who thinks they understand football saying that passing is terrible and people shouldn't throw the ball.

Except that guy would be closer to right.

No, I wasnt kidding by my post. To me, the orangutan is terrible. A possible two-round lag that is only possible, and not a perma-lag ability. its dodging/damage isnt exactly something to smile at. both are weak. its hiding in woods ability, I could do with my powers anyway, so I really gained nothing by it. Unless someone is near dead, bleeding doesnt do much for me. Especially having an enemy that makes money sitting in their guild *tribunal* so they can always heal irreguardless. *not to mention speckled pills*. I had everything I wanted in the fox that the orangutan could do, and more. It also has a higher damage output overall for 1 round than the orangutan. It can also see everything but assassins in wilds/duo. it can get somewhere faster than orangutan too because of run.
Compare orangutan to the hyena or the rattlesnake. I wont even bother. The orangutan is out of its league.
As per the football comment, more can go wrong on a pass play than a run play, and some quarterbacks really shouldnt throw the ball *to note a certain qb with a very high interception rate this season* though because of screens/etc and others I love running myself with madden and other games, I do not ignore passing, and something I use overmuch

Rattlesnake is defense, not utility. Cobra is the utility snake. Utility forms are generally well balanced, which is why I don't usually bother with double utility. If you want offense or defense to complement utility, then take off or def minor. You're not the first double utility shifter to I've heard to complain about this.

sorry for the long delay in teh posting with this guys, am not just trying to beat up a dead horse. still no internet. friday payday. damn two week pay period.

and yeah I did. was faior/gosen, and before that nothing for over a year.

as far as offense/defense, I agree with their balance with each other with all save orangutan, which I wont get into again. What I meant as a form to compliment fox.

Fox, isnt the greatest of fighters against other chars, though can hunt quickly, get away quickly, can see everything, and yeah it can fight. A form to compliment it is one more suited to the pk aspect, rather than hunting aspect, as the hyena with teh higher damage dealing, especially when it ate a corpse, and also its damage reduction makes it nice. The cobra has a very high dodge rate, granted only one attack but it hits very often, can poison, and heals, which tactically I would prefer it over the hyena. Then there is the orangutan...
anyway, I have time for a few responses before I go back home for the night. been watching my nieces and nephew, but brother got home

You're free to tell Nepenthe that he doesn't understand CF's mechanics. To continue our sporting analogy, you're also free to give hitting tips to Albert Pujols.

But at the end of the day, when a person has played a nigh-infinite number of highly effective characters like Nep has, and you're putting up the kind of numbers Gosen did, don't be afraid if we're inclined to take Nep's word over yours.

My advice? Learn from what he's saying.

hmm.. about four or five chars ago I had khalizad. my last leader, empire war master. think that was a few years ago. with and without preps destroying bad/good players alike. I know just as well Nepenth has had some chars that havent exactly been on par with himself. Gosen actually got into very, very few fights with anyone just because of her forms, and as mentioned before, chat was already beyond my deletion point anyway, and only was there for oqoko.

Well,

Nep did say when Nightguants first came out that they weren't over-powered. We just didn't understand them. I really thought he was on crack back then. How is sancing, invoker shielding, bard preps, wands, summoning just about anywhere into noexit, no recall, deathtrap rooms with 500 masters waiting not overpowered

Classes regen a lot poorer while bleeding. In drawn out raid situations, you can use this to force a withdrawal. Bleeding is one of my favorite abilities for long fights, beyond just killing someone off who flees with 15 hp left.

Orangutan is sick. It punches, which small races like gnomes and svirfs are vulnerable to. It has a nice damage attack. Additionally, it can camo, which is really useful when you don't have your cabal item. Its great as group support too. Fox doesn't even compare, in regards to what type of damage it does, they are easier to tank and have a generic attack with little in the way of damage attacks. When you have this many people telling you you're off the mark you should consider re-evaluating your stance.

As far as football, even if your running game is superb, if you don't at least hold the threat of being able to throw they're going to pack the line and you won't get anywhere. Real life isn't like Madden.

Shifter camo is much better than chameleon in the terrain where the shifter is able to camo. This is due to the fact that shifter camo is faster and doesn't use mana like chameleon(which is a power to call) does. Also, you won't lose your concentration with shifter camo if chameleon is not perfected. Shifter camo is also faster to use than chameleon, having less lag. So it is useful even if you would have your item, making chameleon less useful.

helpful yes, though what is not here is the obvious.

--Classes regen a lot poorer while bleeding. In drawn out raid situations, you can use this to force a withdrawal. Bleeding is one of my favorite abilities for long fights, beyond just killing someone off who flees with 15 hp left.

This is true. However in most of my fights bleeding is nothing. Right now I am forgetting his name, but such like the svirf, the justiciar of teh indigo triangle. I did use orangutan against him. Good damage, the rare times it hit. But such as when he was writhing in agony, he fled, three room chase, but he was already at perfect health from using the said items above. That was only 3 rooms away and in a second or so timeframe. Was he bleeding? yes. Did it matter? no. The bleeding lasts a short time and does small damage. Good against villagers with no ability to use those items, and unprepared people, but against the majority of lawmen who make gold out the wazoo just from sitting in their guild, or anyone that can gather decent value items, can get healing with ease. The facebite if it blinded with any regularity instead of rarely, or gave a loss to a stat such as other bleeding abilities, would be more worth using to me than just as it is.

--Orangutan is sick.

Yes it does punch, taking advantage of a racial drawback of gnomes and svirf, or humans and that sized reduced. Okay. So the two attacks it gets that average mangles if and only if they hit, are instead against two races, and those two races only average ***DEMOLISHES***. Yes, they can hit for devistates, but they can also mangles against the same people. I speak of average only. More than not the case was that at least one of its only two attacs was dodged/parried/missed entirely, halving its melee damage in total. A fox, six attacks per round, and thuogh it has gotten mangles, and as low as eviscerates, it usually got dismembers/massacres.
Against all but warriors, it hit almost always, and against warriors, hit on over half its attacks. Thank you certain elf warrior of the village .

Let us say each form hits with every single attack for average damage, and let us even consider it a gnome or svirf. Two demolishes, which is about 240 damage. Six dismembers, which is sbouy 360 damage. Any questions? I mentioned the smash skill earlier in the thread. Better damage than fox, yes, it can and usually mangles on averate, most I have seen against a mob is oblit, on a person devistate, svirf. 150 damage or so I will say, but likely high. has chance to lag, about same chance to miss entirely. lag isnt long duration, etc. Fox can bite every round, average dismember. damage about 120 for 2 bites, same duration as 1 smash. no other effects. is little difference, and that little difference doesnt give weight to orangutan.

You mentioned the orangutan having chamo. Yes it does, and yes I was in a cabal with chamelion. I also had another form that could hide. Hyena can too in a desert I think? I dont know about the cobra. I have never had the form. Yeah, the orangutan camo is good to have if and only if we dont have our item, which was honestly not that often. It was mentioned in another post after yours, that its better cause it takes less mana. Uhh. Keep this in mind. You are draining your mana in shifter camo every tick. You revert your out of shifter camo. etc. if you call cham, spend the 30 mana or so it takes to do it, you can go out of form and still be camoed, you can do it in ANY form whatsoever, and out of form, and can be done in more places than shifter. Making it more versatile, and usable for healing more than just hp and moves.

you mentioned its great as group support. With its two attacks it wont be dealing a high end amount of damage comparatively to most people/forms, tanking it woudl likely do okay in a group gangbang, but since it can lag your opponent your likely ganging, yeah, it would do better than the fox, who would solely do damage. Though, any day of the week, I would rather have fox because it can see those assassins, thieves, and rangers running about. I prefer versatility with all this, over.. a possible lag attack and less damage.

PS. how are they easier to tank? *smirk*

It's obvious that you've never played a Tribunal for a reasonable amount of time to understand how much money they make, or as the case may be, don't make.

Most of your combat comparison is just wrong and I'm not interested in arguing with a brick wall.

>Though, any day of the week, I would rather

This I can't argue about. The fox absolutely has its strengths. For some players, those strengths may fit their play style better than the strengths of the orangutan, and it's great that two people can pick utility and hope to get two different forms.

forget my name back then. I had a provost of tribunal, also a fox back when the grove was running hazard over the tribunal. I remember it was really two of us, me and a vulture carrying alot of the fight. I forget my form. The fox was most useful to me of any form to any char because of him. Nothing could hide, that meant alll those grovelings Though I have never had vindicator or justiciar, I have had magistrates and provincials and one provost. while sitting in your town for a few hour session of spell-practicing, or shift-practicing, or generally interacting with other chars, that little amount of gold builds up to a rather large amount, and it doesnt take long. that combined with gold from loots from special guard kills, which though there are less criminals now and people willing to become criminals, there still are.

When I fought him with my ram/mongoose shifter, he had blunt vuln covered and haste boots. He was the toughest Trib warrior I fought as Frearrir, so this is not an easy opponent we are talking about here.

"I dont know about the cobra. I have never had the form."

Cobra has forestblend and it can camo in forests. It also has regeneration, which is something that makes sitting camoed in form worthwhile.

he was taking full damage from my orangutan when it did hit. yeah he was hasted. yeah when stone skin came up I knew it. yeah he was prepped, though not out the ass. I wouldnt for just an orangutan either, unless it was fully wanded, and likely not even then. The other svirf trib was far tougher. That one also has the five colored mail. The point is this, that he could heal with teh pills, fine, etc, that he can eat them lagless and regain all lost health in manner of less than a few seconds, that is completely retarded. That is the issue I am putting on, and that fight the example.

I have never had the cobra. I have fought it. Its a form I love

Why would a well geared warrior who preps not be able to outfight a utility form? Use a bit of logic here.

As for your other arguments, I found orangutans to deal quite good damage for a utility form. I think you're a bit off on combat wise, I typically have no problems outfighting a fox whereas an orangutan can pose something more of a problem, depending on what I am.

You choose double utility and outlander. I'm not sure why would you particularly want utility as an outlander, let alone twice. To me thats like a staff spec taking pole as his other spec, and then complaining that he doesn't have enough offense.

I have never worried about an orangutan after their smash was changed with any form. I have eaten them utterly basically. fox has always been a bigger problem for me for every char I have had, that has at least fought both of them. I will not that it hasnt been all that many.
As per your first line, also keep in mind utility form had barrier/aura/shield/stone skin. 1360 or so hp at the time went pretty damn far too. He had to flee before I had to. While he had pills and could heal and basically outlast me even if teh pills had lag on it, umm, it being lagless healing that I was ranting about, literally. he was fully healed *snaps his fingers* like that. While orc healing with their skins is lagless, its a skill to the class/isnt full heal/have to kill for the skins, even if it is something of a weak monster/is a skin can be gotten etc, it isnt something available to all classes like the pill is, and to me is something easily abused.
Irreguardless, it isnt something that will be changed to be, what I see at least, mroe balanced, by having a little lag attached to it. Using the pills with just a little lag, would that have won it in for me? No, but it would have been more balanced than an immediate full restore at little cost.
I have a char now, so all know. Its a char that I am taking out aggrivation with. My char after I will be taking advantage of quite a few things done by the imms I dont see as being fair. I will likely be ruining alot of players experience doing this, and hopefully some points will be made with actual logs. This is my last post on my death board. I am sorry in advance, but it cannot be said that I did not firstly speak of it.

I've never had the kind of problems you're describing improving blackjack. Neither has anyone else I've spoken to. I have to assume you were running around wielding and axe trying to blackjack things or something similarly counterproductive.

Necros/tripping/etc chunk: Man, where do I even start here. Trip is still great. Even at the low levels trip still feels horribly unfair to me when I'm on the thief side of things and not the mage side of things. Contrary to what you think, a necromancer with fly potions cannot realistically keep fly up for life. If, on the other hand, the necromancer quaffed a fly potion because they saw you coming, you already botched the biggest advantage you had as a thief -- in most cases, you almost couldn't make a bigger mistake. Finally, no, "anyone" cannot have aura, barrier, and shield running at 32nd level. ####, I doubt I could do that. And even if they could? Again, not for life, and why are you letting the mage prep and then kill you?

Orangutan worthless? Are you kidding me? I've seen many a shifter declare double utility PRAYING to get orangutan. That's a great form. If you couldn't beat people with it, it's because you couldn't beat people.

Speckled pill: Not as easy as you're saying, and honestly, not even my preferred fast healing solution.

Old Twarek: Briefly true, and since fixed.

Anti-gang code: You don't understand and I'm not interested in explaining it right now.

Level 32 mage dominating etc: If you think so, make a level-sitting level 32 mage and prove it. I don't think you can even get the A/B/S together, but even if you did... any good player playing a character with bash will still kill you, to name but the simplest answer to it.

Most elite players with a necro could conceivably mop up their range especially with wands and/or cabal powers. I'm sure there are plenty of logs of necros that did just this. You don't remember any bad ass 32 human necros that smoked tons of people?

Everything else you said is dead on though as usual. Surprised you don't think a 32 necro can beat people down consistently. Out of curiousity what class do you think distends most at ~30's? Tell you players what, I'll pay pal anyone $20 dollars to distend a 32 necro. Any takers?

No, they generally blend together. You need a lot of style to stand out from the midlevel murderous necromancer herd.

>Everything else you said is dead on though as usual. Surprised
>you don't think a 32 necro can beat people down consistently.

Oh, it definitely can. Reread the post carefully. I'm saying, in essence:

1) I don't think you can really put together the full wack of A/B/S on you at 32.

2) I don't think it's as easy as Gosen is saying it is, so I'd challenge him specifically to try it, and

3) While you can definitely rack up high numbers of kills, you are not unbeatable, especially at 32. I don't even really think it's the toughest thing at those levels. Specifically, if you choose to fight good players (i.e., you don't just word/teleport/quit whenever you see somebody you have reason to believe knows what they're doing enters the area), against those players you'll almost certainly die at least as much as kill.

I've seen low 30s necromancers rack up high kill counts and low death count by being glorified bottom feeders (e.g., repeatedly killing the weakest guys they could) and being extremely conservative with any real opponent. I've also seen players take down other top players but take their fair share of deaths in the process. Killing the best without dying to the best is a rough proposition.

I havent deleted faior yet, I think he is still there. his skill is 75, and no, almost always wielding a dagger and nothing else. As per blackjack, the blackjack was always in main hand, and mace 100 by the time I was practicing it much. There arent exactly many thieves running around, but the one I saw with any frequency was the one that could haggle bones off of a lich. I forget his name now. He also gave up on blackjack. look at his skill too. No, I wasnt using an axe, though I know what this is in reference too (whistles innocently while thinking of his shifter spam casting spells for improvements and wondering why there isnt one)

Necros/tripping/etc chunk: Man, where do I even start here. Trip is still great. You said here even at the low levels trip still fels horribly unfair to you when your on the thief side of things. yes, I agree. but even with the things I saw it carried over far into the upper ranks too. all those misses in the lower/mid 40's. As per necromancers, they cant keep fly up for life. they dont have to. Trip is going to lag someone for two rounds. If, and truly only if they havent spam walked, they are going to flee/quaff a potion of flying. Even moreso, thats if, and only if you outlive all their pets. believe me, I can hide, I am going to stay hidden. As per wands, How long do you keep logs of the things characters do? I believe it was razmorthin at level 32 that got ganged by 3 people, one of them being a druid with two pets. Those three got their ass kicked, and I think two of them fled, before the necromancer bit it? Its in a log on dios. Look out the damage redux he had on him on that fight. level 32. and if you can look at the wands he had. I know from sitting there stealing from him he had all three at level 32. Again no, not for life, but as a thief with no perm-lag ability, or defenses to fight the army for that long *with teh non wand preps I remember from about 2 years ago when I played last * A thief just isnt going to kill a necromancer even without pets/flying, etc. I am not saying its not probable, just not likely.

Orangutan worthless? Are you kidding me? I've seen many a shifter declare double utility PRAYING to get orangutan. That's a great form. If you couldn't beat people with it, it's because you couldn't beat people.

I on teh other hand have had the other forms. To me it is worthless compared to the fox, the hyena, and the snake. Most of my shifters have been double utility. in every scenario I can think of except for chasing someone, I would rather have any other utility form. #### I would rather have almost every other fourth tier form, and even some third tier forms in most cases.

Speckled pill: Not as easy as you're saying, and honestly, not even my preferred fast healing solution.

Eh. I would get speckleds because I can geta few at a time with 1 item, and the healing is lagless. The potions and the like I used to use when I gathered them were also of healing, but there is a lag to quaff. There isnt with eat. There are also no negative effects to the pill. I would rather 20 pills on me than a healer.

Old Twarek: Briefly true, and since fixed.
I was getting more and more ticked when I was writing before. It could have been he was assisting the special guards, and then all of mortorn etc assisting. Thank you for fixing it, but it was still too much for me to even bother keeping my char around after that one.

Anti-gang code: You don't understand and I'm not interested in explaining it right now.
I wrote it much more to point out that as long as a mob is with any party, the anti-ganging code doesnt work on them. That includes special guards, to which five people and 2 special guards are not affected by the code, and the solo 1 person they are ganging doesnt even get to see all the echoes before they die. There was more to the post but I dont feel like looking right now its 730, at my brothers house on his computer.

Level 32 mage dominating etc: If you think so, make a level-sitting level 32 mage and prove it.

I think again it was razmorthin, and another necromancer, I think also a scion? forget name. They proved it for me. I dont know where wands are. They keep moving, and I keep not playing the game. I dont have a char now, but I do have a thought I just might make another before school starts for me on jan 9th.

I don't think you can even get the A/B/S together, but even if you did... any good player playing a character with bash will still kill you, to name but the simplest answer to it.
you can, they did. Bash does not perm lag. At those levels with human pk range, being able to fight level 23's at 32. The 23's bashes have even more chance to miss than the high miss rate it already has. A necromancer at level 32 with I think can have a mummy, golem, and five zombies. Though changed a few years ago that level couldnt have anymore elite storm giants, they can still have elite dwarven guards and can haste them all for free. five hasted mobs three of them higher level than the level 32, with a/b/s I am not worried about one warrior, even if it was a level 35 arial sword spec warrior that even was able to drive me away from my pets. Rager on the other hand just depends on how healthy I am before I flee, what mobs I have near to vampiric, his weapons, etc. Irreguardless on all of these, a necromancer that prepared in the mid levels can get away with ease. bash/trip doesnt do enough for a long fight

Maybe. A lot of times people won't live through the two rounds if you do it right. If they do live, do flee and quaff exactly as you said? Assuming they don't run afoul of an unlucky flee, parting block, cheap shot, or a dozen other things? If all of that's true and you think you can't win?

Then you get to just hide. The fight's over and the necromancer's done. You had a chance to kill them, and they had ZERO chance of killing you.

A crappy thief isn't, no. One of the deadliest characters currently existing is a thief and I assure you they've killed a metric ass pile of necromancers.

Why don't you explain the free haste to me, because I can think of some, but none you can do at that level.

See, this is why I told you to play it... because your theories are based on about 20 things that aren't true. I can tell you they're not true, but somehow that isn't as eloquent as a random giant warrior bashing you down.

You had a chance to kill them, and they had ZERO chance of killing you.

ugh this is going to get to be a long post, sorry, but eh. At low levels, yes they are going to live through two rounds easily, unless you are decked. at level 30 having over 600+ hp isnt hard. I was over that at level 20, but I had some eq given to me by future cabal mates, and a loot that had some health eq in it. A thief doesnt have enhanced damage till level 25. at level 32 it will be 100 or close to it. Dressed for damage and lets say he has a 50 damroll. necromancers will still have parry, and a ton of hp, and the pets. If they are too hurt to continue, I wouldnt bother with quaffing as the necro, just word. Heal with teh healer of it was close by, then use a potion of flying, fog a bit, try to get him out and etc. Chances are he will try considering i wouldnt have my army with me at that time. Cheap shot didnt go off much at all, but it was only 87. I also didnt have it till about level 36 because it was on a second path to the one I had. I also didnt have parting block. Again different path of thief than I was, and when I did take thug, only went up to cheap shot. Assuming they do flee, they would have to be hurt, which a necromancer knows your weapons, and all my chars but my shifters have most weapons perfected by level 20, as well as defenses. 'Every little bonus, is still a bonus', and I know other players that still do the whole practice thing. As a necromancer its invaluable to them outlasting through lags, and their damages.

>fight. level 32. and if you can look at the wands he had. I

Having and being able to use are two different things.
Look at dio's. The logs there.

>A thief just isnt going to kill a
>necromancer even without pets/flying, etc. I am not saying its
>not probable, just not likely.

A crappy thief isn't, no. One of the deadliest characters currently existing is a thief and I assure you they've killed a metric ass pile of necromancers.

The only other thief besides faior and the one that could haggle etc was a villager thief made leader. I wasnt exactly impressed. Took thug path up though so did have parting block. If he killed necros, they were likely petless, which was stupid of the necros, not anything the thief did that was great. to note however, resist/scouts critical strike, goes a looong way.

Crack crack crack crack crack. I'm too surly and full of red wine to refute this more logically.

Except for the last line, this is a statement of fact. The healing IS lagless, and no negative effects. A few CAN be gotten with 1 item. Potions on the other hand, DO have lag.

See above: You don't understand how this works, because nothing you said there resembles correct.

There are echo's recieved when the code works. there are none when it doesnt. This is a statement of fact to which I have seen. I understand how it should work, only telling you how it can be gotten around, by what I have seen and experienced.

I don't think we've moved any of those wands in a few years.

I didnt play for a few years. I only knew a few wands then, and didnt remember where any were. Is why I did what I did to get them.

>Bash does not perm lag.

Saying bash doesn't perm lag is like saying ####ing doesn't make babies. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. If you're on the bad end of it, you take your chances.

I'm sorry, I usually dont weigh myself down to max weight as a class that can be bashed, and keep myself their size etc so they have a chance to perm-bash me. Keep in mind also, most people dont. If bash is a problem to someone, its find a way to nullify it/make it not matter, or keep dying to it and never learn. except for teh bash legacy/drive lag legacy, I dont have problems with bash. Soemtimes it does? doesnt seem that way to me. As both war/ap end of it, and teh bashed end of it, it misses much more than the lag even really seems worth it.

>At those levels
>with human pk range, being able to fight level 23's at 32. The
>23's bashes have even more chance to miss than the high miss

No.
Code was made at those lower levels to miss more with bashes. also fighting someone 9 levels higher.

>A necromancer at level 32 with I think
>can have a mummy, golem, and five zombies.

You think way ass wrong.

yes, meant three

>Though changed a
>few years ago that level couldnt have anymore elite storm
>giants, they can still have elite dwarven guards

They could still have storm giants. No change made there.

During when that change was made I had a necro and brought him up to spectre. deleted before got quest though. Necromancers couldnt just walk up to a level 51+ corpse and animate it anymore, the higher it was above their level, the less likely it was that they would be able to animate it. It is possible, I dont argue that, but the 20 min wait or however long it is, makes things like elite dwarven guard more worth it at level ~ 30.

>and can haste
>them all for free.

Why don't you explain the free haste to me, because I can think of some, but none you can do at that level.

A stave gotten with I believe it was 5 charges, been a few years since I could use it, but the certain tower where I got my wands has it. Fight for it, easily gotten, low level, and its aoe haste.

>five hasted mobs three of them higher level
>than the level 32, with a/b/s I am not worried about one
>warrior,

See above: You can't have the full wack at that level.

Ok, I am going through dio's. I gave the name razmorthin a few times over my post, but he was the level 51 scion conjurer. Damnit I cant remember either of those necromancers names or would do a search for them. its now 930 and still looking on the forums for that post.
if dont find it soon oh well will look another day, likely a few days from now when I come over here again adn tie up my brothers internet. If someone knows exactly which post it was it was three people ganging a necromancer. A druid and two others specifically, if anyone knows which and can post it as reference to this. While it wont show the wands in the post, it will show how well protected the necro is

>even if it was a level 35 arial sword spec warrior
>that even was able to drive me away from my pets. Rager on the
>other hand just depends on how healthy I am before I flee,
>what mobs I have near to vampiric, his weapons, etc.
>Irreguardless on all of these, a necromancer that prepared in
>the mid levels can get away with ease. bash/trip doesnt do
>enough for a long fight

See, this is why I told you to play it... because your theories are based on about 20 things that aren't true. I can tell you they're not true, but somehow that isn't as eloquent as a random giant warrior bashing you down.

Sorry, but I wouldnt let giants bash me to begin with, unless they were wearing maces, or other crushing weapon that hit hard, then I would do else dependant upon weapon I am using at the time, etc, but I would nullify his ability to bash without even having to worry about it.

I have no idea what you are smoking. My last five or six thieves, three of which are on the PBF (Edomm, Lesuoto, Trotat) easily mastered blackjack. I took some practice, but I had it past 90 within an hour and perfected in two. It is one of the most reliable knockout skills in the game. A thief without blackjack, IMHO, is pretty useless.

okay, now this is last post, I may have missed yours previously. I am smoking nothing but marlboro's. I dont know how you had it past 90 in an hour, but myself and another thief, one of the few I have seen *didnt see you* didnt have it perfected, and myself was still only 75 with a few hours of practicing. And yes, I know, a thief without blackjack is more than pretty useless.

You talk about trip being useless because people often use two round lag skills, which go through just before a trip, effectively meaning the trip doesn't lag them.

How about this for a solution?

Instead of tripping as often as you can, wait until one round after they used their two round skill, then trip. That way they can only do that skill every three rounds. Or if you feel you can time it right, wait until two rounds later and beat them to the punch so they can only do it every four rounds.

If you're a thief and you don't think you can win the fight that way, stay hidden until you can.

Thieves aren't meant to be warriors with hide. They're a stealth class for a reason. If you don't like playing a stealth class (many people don't), we have lots of other classes.

Responding to both. As for why I wouldnt wait to trip again, first and foremost, I had cheap shot. I had a small chance since it was still below 90 to have a chance to perm-lag someone. Two, I dont wait for anything to be able to get more commands in, if I am seeing my commands not happening, its either I am being lagged, which I watch for, or I am laggy, in which I will flee. My commands being entered, actions happening tell me if I am laggy or not. just an old habit.

I know thieves werent meant to be wariors with hide. I like small thnigs about the stealth classes. Their ability to travel and scout, strike unseen, etc. I do not like assassins because of how people use them. I dont play assassins. I have a 0 total assassination record. I had a poison thief. I stopped at mind control because I made someone quaff a certain potion from a certain tower. so yeah.. power word kill. That I could do that to someone with the mind control poison I deleted my char after returning all his eq, without poisoning any of it.

I tend to stay away from classes with one-hit wonders. That leaves open for thieves to me the other three paths. I do like them, but it seems like the thieves have gotten the ####ty end of every tweak, and with teh low amount of people that play thieves at all now, do show my sentiments are not unshared.

I would look at ragers and paladins and assassins and think.. hmm, assassinate is dangerous.. but you can avoid that easily enough by keeping on the move.

Thiefs... are just outright deadly to all my necros. Some of which have been purely based on pking only those who sat on the top of the pk pile.

Kansun, was my bane with my last necro.. I was parinoid about him.

Best set of eq in the game often kept me alive, untill he managed to force me to drop my cube of force.. 10 or so fights with him he eventually assraped me sideways. Gag + Truss = mostpowerfull ability in the game anyway you look at it.

I have to agree with Nep, thiefs can be so lethal if they stick to their enviroment.

Necros are only deadly if the person is slept, otherwise they are weak as piss. I've never seen a "toe to toe" fight with a necro who has been able to tactically beat someone in combat using spells and such.

Wow. That was a mouthful.

Took a chance on you because I really believed you'd make a huge difference. I'm assuming you did because after not seeing you all that much (my fault, not yours) you managed to get yourself a nifty title there. You must have been doing something right. Sorry the whole experience left a sour taste in your mouth, but I find from time to time it does that. Best to just move on. Hope you decided to make it back to our neck of the woods sometime.

I do where too much for you to sneak up on me, sorry about you not being able to spy on me at your gods shrine One of teh things my char wanted to do was do anything she wanted without beign hindered etc. I did alot of things because of that. Visited shrines for kicks, spoke to random imms. Made a picture for eshval, etc. They were my chars wants, and most the interactions were very fun. dunno what to make of eshval.. but.. I wasnt a follower of her at least I didnt get killed

actually the entire sour taste in my mouth is with most chars I have had since after taceoleus I think it was declared half-elves and other half-breeds lesser species to all rest, and were so servants to all the rest. I had a half elf then. . Perhaps my fifth char then I think. Still most memorable fight to me, was me and istendil with my shifter at the time, raiding the grove which was at that time located just noth and east of seantryn modan. There were five defenders, and even though istendil kicked ass, and I didnt we both died.
Istendil ended up having to write a note to the cabal saying, yes, I died. Its not a first, It will likely not be the last. etc, because people were like holy ####, istendil died, what does that mean
He also mentioned that he died because his untested hell gear made him not able to run/word . I have not seen a council of four since that could do anything like they did back then. I have had sect leaders of all but divine, including arcane sect, but hmm.. not shadow since new empire. I have had leaders of every other cabal but maran. I can say nothing now seems as fun as it was back then, back then things were new, things seemed fair. Though there was still gangs even back then same as they are now, the only things that just seemed to me out of whack for a game were just how much damage someone could do with deathblow *which wands and shifter damage/dodging really impressed me on how well they compromised that, as well as other preps/getaway abilities* and power word kill. Compared to then, more and more things since just left bad things in my mouth.

bleh. missed some. Also my chars title wasnt because I was doing anything right. Only because in rl I dont sleed near ever, and when I do its for litle time. I was online an average I think he said 17.1 hours a day? thats why I got the title, and the title I did. I made no difference with really anything. I knew it, and again, would have deleted the char long ago.

interesting to read of the experiences that you encountered. and your feelings on the thief class especially, as i have played a number of theif characters. Regardless of your intentions to not return to CF, I still am inclined to say that i will miss my interactions with you. I did notice you and Oqoko together often, and in fact is how we met. Perhpas after you are settled into your new place, you'll feel the urge to roll another on CF. Great RP is always appreciated

oh yeah, now you posted who you were. duergar shaman
at teh low levels, poison/plague is easily cured by free items. If know where to get them anyway. That is how I was able to last against your plague/poison, be able to heal, and keep comming. There is one thing and really one thing only new people to shamans keep doing that get them killed. You refused to do it. Very patient you were I couldnt kill you, even though could make it you couldnt kill me. I had to teleport to do it, you didnt to survive. Grr blind. The char really didnt matter to me much, so didnt matter if I died to teleport, which invariably, I did quite often. dang trolls. Me and oqoko were never together, save for when out of range, and even that rare because of my cabal affiliation, though there were times if I happened to see oqoko, and I was free, ran in and gave her a kiss that was outside the maran I think, the only time that happened. Actually we met first in galadon pre-level 11, you said my char was beautiful, etc. Then met again in.. your hometown where I saw you recall to, but no fighting happened then. Think you were hurt and either teleported/left before me shifting. Then we fought a third time in said hometown, to which you already having sanc, and me having only second form, I had to beat feet. I do have the right shaman I think?
grrrr
dont feel bad if I dont remember, the char is already done and deleted, and I have moved half way across the country since, and got a job, and done stuff to get into colledge etc so dont be mad
as per the roleplay, thank you. This char was meant to be a fun-loving do what I want type person, which usually involved flirting/teasing someone. She was easily hurt though, being emotional. The one cabal mate she would have killed, that one digger knows it, I might have waited to kill if it even looked like he would make it to hero ranks. Dont insult the feral gnome

Being chased around by someone you call friend because they have to kill you is just hilarious. I saw your roleplaying improve and mine as well. I think you approach CF from the wrong direction, I play CF for roleplaying opportunities not for PK. PK is cool! And you have to like all the RP it can spawn but really I love storylines first and foremost.

That said I have noticed a general tendency towards crapping on each other lately. Bigtime. People caring more about someone's name than their roleplay. People who live only to PK because they do not get roleplaying. Most of the people I have encountered with Okoqo have been amazing. Absolutely amazing regardless of alignment or inclination for the most part. Even those who have slain Okoqo have been amazingly fun to speak with. Ragers, Rangers, rabid Maran, not so rabid Maran, Outlanders etc. I think this character has died to rangers more than anything else.

Even some of the things that are being promoted in game lead to shoddy RP and power gaming rather than good ole roleplaying. Personally I think Ragers have an enormously powerful RPing tool in their cabal's purpose but sadly not all take advantage of it. Also I think people sell themselves short when interacting with their enemies. Speaking to the one you just slew in a civil tone can be very rewarding but so can speaking to the one who just slew you!

I know it is hard to get over CFs huge PK focus but when you do you can enter this amazing world hidden about the game. Some of the Immstaff can simply RP your socks off and I can not encourage all players enough to seek to bring their story to the game. I notice a tendency to power up the levels but let me tell you that the Imms care more for a story well written and inclusive of other players.

Would be nice if players delved equally into chest beating strutting PK stuff and the subtleties of roleplaying. Too much attitude in CF at times with f-bombs everywhere, even here in the forums. It would be cool in the newbie school if there was a way to give XP for learning to use emotes, esays, and socials properly.

Come back and play but go for a combined PK and RP focus. I know you RPed a lot but it seemed only with me.

wasnt just with you, I spoke to people out of randomness. I spoke to imms, went to their shrines, and even made a painting for eshval, though to be honest I had a lack of people at the time to even talk to. You had alot of my attention just because you wanted rp. Varthas of the battleragers I really liked, even though we had to fight each other. Never did get to fight him fully prepped, though my fox then would likely have beaten him. Heh, having to kill a certain mob just to get wands
Ilimya also got alot of my attention, so did every outlander but one whenever there were any on. You didnt get to see much of that, sorry
Also with the two forms I had, my pk ability was much less than it should have been, my struggle for wands made it worse, and then combined with a cabal specifically against mine, with pk-powers that give shifters nightmares, especially un-wanded ones, and then add in things mentioned previous with old twarek etc, the pk aspect with this char was less than most everything I have ever had. damnit I wish I had gotten anything but teh orangutan. feh

Surprisingly, I can put a number on this. 157 hours in one week is too much. Yes, a player did this recently. Yes, I know how many hours that leaves for sleep and personal hygiene. It's not a lot.

The character was created on the morning of 11/9, and deleted later in the day on 11/19 with 180 hours. Three days later, the dormancy period for a deleted hero expired and he ended up here.

180 hours in 10.5 days is ~17.1 hours/day, leaving ~6.9 hours/day for sleep, hygiene, etc.

yes, this seems about right. I sleep as said about 2-3 hours per day. I eat once a day. I shower twice a day *I cant stand being dirty * This combined with I had already left my job because I was going to be moving and as of tuesday no longer live in nj, I had alot of time.
