Well that just bites it. It seems like all the fun people are just dropping like flies. When I played Temp, I enjoyed teaching a bashful, almost redeemed necromancer how to waltz. It was even more fun trying to make him continue eye contact with her. Heh. I enjoyed seeing Syth evolve from the icky little dead-man lover into the repentant and fairly wise student of the black arts. I think you did a great job of keeping in character and played some interesting quirks into your personality. Good Job. Oh...and uh...sorry about a certain Maran shaman who accidentally killed you on the spot in front of the Inn. Good luck in the future.

Those hunts we had were a blast. It's a shame I couldn't talk to you much after you turned to the light, since I was away from the game. Would have been...interesting. Ah well. I'll see you later, ole buddy.

Yeah, I enjoyed those hunts as well, though I mostly felt like I was just sort of tagging along. I kept looking forward to meeting you again after I redeemed, but I wasn't exactly sure how I was going to handle it.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-04-02 AT 10:54 AM (CST) This is the shortened version. It's still too big, but oh well.
There are two reasons I deleted Sythvaur. One was that I had run out of goals for him, and I was having trouble coming up with new ones. The other was that I decided I want to learn the game, and that I am presently not able to do this with Sythvaur, due to his restrictions.
Overall, I was very pleased with Sythvaur, and I'm very happy to have gotten the opportunity to play a good-aligned necromancer.
Things I think I did well: Successfully redeeming a necromancer Keeping a fairly consistant spoken tone Keeping a consistant personality
Things I wish I'd done better: I was a pretty shoddy Warlock I think Didn't PK well, could have made up for disadvantages with supplements I bet. Didn't leave any lasting mark (maybe a book written somewhere?)
I had so many friends and acquaintences with Sythvaur, I really can't give each of you a paragraph of thanks, so I'll just list a few of the people who stood out to Sythvaur (in no order, whatsoever).
Gharith, Serramana, Temperaleai, Ashrum, Bellarosea, Yirri, Gloreinfell, Vynmylak, Calradian, Annalena, Felgaire, Neyis, Derexal, Tharynkar, Theerkla, Avin, Jarel, Korvalhn, Viornsra.
Since there aren't many imms to thank, I'll do that seperately:
Shokai: Thank you very much for allowing Sythvaur to be redeemed. I enjoyed talking to you the few times we did, and am grateful for the chance to be redeemed. If you could respond with just a few thoughts about Sythvaur's roleplay and doings I'd really appreciate that. I think I did a decent job in many regards, but I bungled it towards the end of his life. I'm curious if you redeemed him on roleplay merit alone, or if you thought that since I was a newbie it would be a good time to experiment with a good-aligned necro.
Il/Savraeth: I enjoyed our interactions, and want to thank you for the help you gave Sythvaur. I always got a quick response from you, and was very satisfied with the results. If I play here long enough, maybe I'll get a notion of how the Twin Goddesses thing works. Usually you showed up as Savraeth I believe, and I'm guessing it's because Savraeth has sphere death and Sythvaur was a necromancer. I don't know how much role you had in my admittance to the tower (at least you didn't throw me out), but I was glad to have been there even if I didn't live up to the challenge too well.
Valguarnera: I very much enjoyed the one talk we had. I didn't pull it off quite as well as I'd wanted to, but I was trying to go from mumbling because Sythvaur was afraid of you, to righteous indignation at slights aimed at Shokai, but I think I made the change too abruptly. Ce la vie, I liked your take on things, and I'm looking forward to getting an elixir from you in the future.
If you feel slighted that I didn't mention you, I'm sorry. Anyone who wants a personal response, I'll be happy to give one. You can reach me as Valkenar on IM, or morgoth@brandeis.edu.
As for the mechanisms concerning Sythvaur's redemption, I don't know how much I can talk about that, so don't bother asking me what spells I could cast or anything, unless someone (probably Shokai) posts here saying it's okay to talk about it. Otherwise, ask whatever you want about him. I still have his role if anybody wants to read it

Well, I am sorry to see you go, but I figured you were loosing intrest when you stopped showing up as often. You did very well with your limations and were well roleplayed. I wish you would have been around in my younger days with Karithia. I am sure we would have interacted a great deal more. I don't know how much you know about me, but I am sure you would have found it intersting. Well in any case, I wish you well on your next character.

Thanks. The little we interacted was good, though the first time we met was at Savraeth's shrine. I kept kicking myself because I always forgot your name for some reason. As soon as you said "I was there when you talked to annalena" I would always remember the whole thing, but for some reason your name just wouldn't stick with me. What I knew of you was all good though

Great character from my interactions. Whether you knew it or not, your presence was one of the catalysts to shape and hone the role of Vynmylak. Your crusade in seeking the redemption provided much inspiration and a view of the larger world for a Skyborn-following Servant; not only did it validate some beliefs, but added the opportunity for depth in other aspects. Being able to witness your character being cleansed and then brought fully into the Light has been one of the best immteractive experiences I have had opportunity to see. Great job!

I'm really glad to hear that. Of the 3 or 4 folks I would regularly encounter in Shokai's shrine, you were probably the one I had the most meaningful interactions with (not to slight the others). Sythvaur always looked up to you, and was very happy to have someone to talk to when he was getting worried.

I never had too many insights into what went on with you until Avin. You managed to be involved with everyone else while doing your thing. Heh, damn you lived long, I remember ranking you as Ssthrenki (remember how redundant you and Gharith were?) and then I never made it above 24 with Yirri but you and her had several conversations about her conversion. And I noticed you had gotten converted after Yirri died, I'll bet you finally were thinking to yourself how annoying a wait it is for an Imm to notice your conversion.
Geez. It's been too long for me to say anything else meaningful. Other than that we both have a long way to go to learn to kill other people even with how long we have been playing.

>I remember ranking you as >Ssthrenki (remember how redundant you >and Gharith were?)
I remember Ssthrenki, sure. I was trying to remmeber the people other than Gharith that I met earlier, but was having trouble. I remember noticing the redundancy of us travelling together, but since Gharith was so much a better necromancer than me, I personally learned a lot more from it than I would have anyway.
Heh, wow, Ssthrenki, Yirri and Avin. I would have mentioned all three if I had really sat and thought about it. Ssthrenki was one of the few people I looked around for as a youngin'
> Other than that we >both have a long way >to go to learn to >kill other people even with >how long we have been >playing.
I don't know what you're talking about. My 2% PK ratio clearly designates me as elite. Yeah, part of the problem with me is that I have avoided PK, the first couple characters I had (Valkenar, Tellevron, Camyriela) just due to total lack of skill, the next couple (Sythvaur and a living character whose fate is uncertain) because of getting totally involved in roleplay situations. I made a couple of characters to be PK-learning characters (Hrothain and Xeracles) but ended up rage-deleting Hrothain (only time I've done that) and converting Xeracles to evil without immortal intervention. Maybe someday I'll really try to learn PK. I sure hope so.
