In response to Reply #44
Edited on Wed 27-Apr-05 08:21 PM

Just responding here that I'm not responding because I wasn't really very familiar with this character nor was I involved in the Harbinger decision at all. I started detatching myself from ongoing MUD duties due to my imminent MIA status mentioned on my Amarnathe forum. And no idea how the PBF nuts and bolts work.. a general inquiry on the general forum, or e-mail, to Zulghinlour might be more fruitful. He does the PBF stuff but I'm not sure how thoroughly he reads the regular battlefield.

Hopefully Lyristeon or Innis can answer your questions. I believe they worked out a consensus regarding the Harbinger decision.

Sorry I have no better answers, but since I was lurking around the forums this past week I thought I'd at least give you the reason I havn't responded.

I got the info via email I wanted,
and quite satisfying. However I was told that
my role mysteriously disappeared while active?

I remember being pretty creative in it and would
like to see a copy, seeing how I do my roles an
stuff off the fly, whoever is in that dept. if they
could find the time to do that for my PBF,
there will be much rejoicing.

An thanks for chimin in Amaranthe

What was it, that I was doing so well that
warranted such a quick leadership position?

Honestly, I was floored when approached with it,
and even more so when I actually got it.

Given that this was my first shot, and also that
the player consensus thinks I sucked, what was it
in particular that made this possible?

It's gettin lonely. Only people I have to keep me company are the tribunals and imperials, and whereas I love fighting, I would like someone there with me, just once? *smirks* I only interacted with this character once, and it was crazy, kept referring to yourself as we and stuff. Anyhow, latez and I'll see ya in the fields.

Well, finally did it. Made leader, got a tat, firsts an everything, very unexpected at the time, and as in most of my 40 range deletes, I just sum it up with hating hero range.

Gangs of four an five full looting my 2rings and 1 axe, my whole pk range logging out when the moon is full, or not coming out of a guild for a good hour, tons of #### talking by people who i can and have killed solo enough times only to have em come back with a couple friends... It gets old.

To all the people who use deaf, because you cant take the crap talk you were dishin out before I killed you, weak. Yes, I did it on purpose, and I went out of my way to get to you every time I saw you around.

I think i've run across more new players with this character than I have in my whole cf carreer, and I used to be pretty helpful, but maybe its just RL adding up, im bitter. Parents divorce, broke, unemployed, moving, etc etc, disheartening to see the #### ive seen with this character.

The amount of cheating, and ooc corelations between players in the game is a lot worse than I had originally though, maybe I'm the only one that takes it this serious anymore, or maybe im just the only one thats noticing.

Enough bitching..

Outlander-

Lyristeon- I've been studying you for some time now, character by character, and I think I finally got somethin goin on this one, which leaves me very satisfied. However, I kinda felt a little cheated, for as many chars that I have tried to get empowered, and how ours went about, maybe you were just busy. But thanks for believing in me, i tried to be as chaotic and unpredictable as I could, died horribly in easy fights, pulled off some cool ones, and all that jazz. This was my first druid, obviously, and you gave me a go at it, thanks!

Huntress- The interview was divine. Having guardians step in to do interviews in place of absent leaders is just awesome. You should do that a lot more when its like that. I made a point to be around, and to be accessible for everyone. Now, if you didnt do what I asked, you didnt get squat, but I think I was more than fair and more than just about, thanks again whichever Imm you were.

Innis/Amaranthe- I know your hands were in there a few times, and about that shard, I didnt know what the hell it was other than I couldnt drop it, and it was just laying around. Blame the thief!
Honestly I thought I was gonna get scolded for killing the herald at the inn, and when I didnt.. well.. heh

Arminas- You started to drift your playtimes, which sucked because we were an unstoppable combo, killing with insane speed. Staying up all ours of the night beastcalling deathraps on main roads was just awesome.

-Gileanas- I knew you would be sunwarden when I was Huegyn, and my farewells will be the same. Consistant, and very skilled.

-Beidal Man... Man... You pissed me off so many times, but I just
had to remember that you gotta be learning your class like I was learning mine, but comon dude.. Tasild attacks the guardian, not even 5 minutes later your in healing sleep, not in the cabal, but outside it.. Think a little man

-Vandir- When we were talking, and you brought up my past char Huegyn, the way you spoke about em really hit me, and it was very cool. Thanks for charging into those suicide frustration missions with me. Your great at keeping your head, and learning very fast.
Dont be me, an stick it out.

-Saephii The stealing thing, was going to get you killed real fast. That's just plain annoying, rp or not, and the moment I noticed my inv was missing something, I woulda done some damage you wouldnt have walked away from.

-Fereksah Another one I knew with Huegyn, strange I ranked up, an passed you, an you were still in the same rank window as my last char, but your rp is awesome. You really bring out that 'felar' presence, and that alone made me like you a lot, plus your char just has a cool persona.

-Reggie Heh... Heres the nice way to put it... You wanna take off for a week, dont come back crying you didnt get picked for birthday boy. You wanna make threats at me then log out not even 10 minutes after a riad, that you Just logged in for.. Had I stuck around, you were going to get uninducted. I dont like you, the chip on your shoulders bigger than mine.

I know I forgot some, its 10am, and I havent been to sleep yet from yesterday cause im playing this mud.

Tribunal-

Arvinis- Going out of character, telling me to shut the #### up, and then talking #### when you got a boat load of tribs logged in, is weak.

Empire

Baltas has my respect, would actually come at me, without a couple friends. Win some, lose some.

Rest of the empire always had company, if they didnt, they died or fled writhing.

Bad taste in my mouth your cabal leaves every one of my characters, in such an ooc way.

First druid, first leader, first real tat, highest empowerment
I didnt do too bad till after the 40th rank, then i started gettin beat down. When I used preps, it was easier, but the time it takes me to get two little potions, ill risk regearing

Was very fun ranking up, after making Harbinger, everyone just seemed out to get me, so.. i sent out after everyone.

Hope you enjoyed the crazed lunatic chaotic druid, because thats what he is, wild as we are...

Thanks. Yeah, I figured out a couple of days ago that this must be you, since you seemed to be on for nearly 4 days straight and were playing an outlander. That and the number of times you disappeared from my pk range because you were a ghost made me expect to see this soon, which is disappointing, because I liked your character.

I was subjected to a much greater degree of character assassination when Brutgelyth posted his anathema log. At least, I was assassinated by everybody that wanted Empire to be fluffy bunny luv. What I posted about you gets nowhere near that level. In fact, I wouldn't have really even cared that you were aura hunting using know alignment if you had presented me with some semblance of a reason for it. My character, Grimblgrom, was a scholar and he would've accepted anything you presented him with. Now I see that you can't even present a halfway decent reason in an ooc arena so I'll call my assumptions validated. Add to the above that my post came less than a day before you deleted and I'll call you hypersensitive. If you're bitter over RL life situations or jade about mass logins/offs I'll accept that. But don't try and pin the blame on my rather innocuous post.

but now he's bitching about character assassination trying to make it seem like my post had something to do with the lack of fun he was experiencing when in actuality it probably had very little. Judging from other posts in this thread it seems like he'd already alienated people through his own actions.

You are welcome on the interview...we try to make things happen as best we are able. Yep, I watched you quite a bit...I even made a note about Herald killing. The shard thing...I honestly chalked it up to RP, since the light-side/gray-side/dark-side should not get along on all matters. Good luck to you.

I only interacted with you as an applicant and interacted with people who interacted with you.
So I did not really get a chance to know you.

But from what I saw "grumpy professor" was just one side of you.
You were also as controversial in your judgements and decisions as Ward Churchill was.
I was hoping it would be just your character role.

But your farewell note full of veiled accusations plus your/Daurwyn "F you... NO F... YOU!" thread on Dio pretty much left nothing to the imagination.

Little advice: Dont bring your RL grievances into the game.
Neather you, nor people around you would enjoy them.

In a very good way.

Very evil healer, with evil ambition. I gave you my best shot on eastern, and your shawtabbies an lashing was just too much, but I went after you like three or four times on it.

Then you an the empire came in a mass an raided outlander, and I'm just thinking to myself... do I just go keep ranking, do I bitch-out and log out like I see half my pk range do when the moon is full, or do I go suicide.

Well, I NEVER, NEVER, NEVER logged out because of odds. Never. I'm proud of that. But man, you sure could make those odds, heh.
Had you actualy gated a bit more often, were a bit more aggressive, you probably could have gotten a lot more kills. It took me a good while to prepare before fights, learning the class an what not, but at the same time, I'm glad you didnt.

Well played

But you wouldnt stray far from jurisdiction without another tribunal on. When you did, you were quick to run.

This is a concept I just cant grasp. No one leaves town, without back up. Soon as more than one trib are on, then they start leaving, and eat a pill the second they get hit.

I just dont see how people can have any satisfaction with those kind of characters. Orcs.. I'd understand, but the Tribunal as a whole, other than Onirakoth..well sorta, Tasild, and who was that one...Murcadin sp? would never even so much as set foot in the woods, or only for 10 seconds.

I will say one thing, your also one of the few tribunals that didnt go ooc because of my killing/taunting, so kudos for that. At least some people care about the gaming experience other than getting their perma/sweet set.

Lots of people don't like dying. They don't like regearing.

Many times, when I had locate object, I could say exactly which outlanders were around. If they didn't vis ever, I knew they were all sitting together in ambush.

I mean, you've even said yourself how great it was to sit on eastern and make beastcall deathtraps. I assume that consisted of plantgrowth followed by briars.

Druids are a dangerous class, with or without gear. But when you know that there are lots of enemies there (and I'm aware that often there are not) you are stupid to walk into them. Instead of criticising about not coming out of the cities, maybe don't all sit chamo waiting to ambush.

I'm not saying it is right to stay in the city. In fact, my own last trib spent as much time outside as in, and I don't like ones that won't leave. But if there wasn't a thrill in chamo ganks, people wouldn't do them, and if they didn't happen, more tribs would come out.

some frustrationg you had, but as you yourself said you would be a deathsquad. I remember a few times walking past a certain point on the eastern eating a MANGLE from a trap, then a demo/3 RAZES plus damage from pets then running only to get an Annihilate on a call lightning. Honestly I tried my best to battle you in areas where you couldnt complete destroy me (though a few times at the Spirit left me with my mouth open). But I thought you did a fairly good job of killing

I really have no interest in who is playing who. That being said, I am not at all surprised that it was you. Of course I am thinking your opening line is sarcastic.

As for the character side and starting to get it, you were a much better Lyristeon follower than you were an Outlander. This is not a knock on Crendal, but to be the Harbinger, you must maintain some semblance of consistency. Balancing the religion with a leader role that requires this can be difficult. There were a few things that you did that made me feel two ways. As a priest of mine, I liked it. As an immortal of Outlander you made me wince a few times. Nothing was ever really bad enough to get the boot, but if you kept on the path you were leading, it probably would have. Which again would have pleased me religion wise. Maybe that will give you an even greater insight into your studies of me.

Now, if you can just maintain some control with your next, you just might do something extraordinary. Good luck.

I didnt ask for leader, I liked it, but didnt 'desire' it, because I knew I would get hunted down, and have a hard time ranking.

Even aside from that, Crendals split-personalities and his chaotic tendencies still came first. When I would think about my actions, W.W.L.D. type thing. Is this chaotic enough, ok.. can I do this and still be Outlander-ish.

From the mid ranks, I figured eventually I was going to get an uninduct, to see how much of a follower to you I was, and honestly I wouldnt have deleted if I was, just for that. As the type of druid I was, and our little relationship, you had to come first, and my actions had to be Chaos bred first, and outlander bred if it fit.

For the most part I got it. I dont know why people seem to think just because they 'asked' me something I have to tell them or im a bad RP'er, most people I wasnt trusting anyways and simply would say whatever I could say to get a reaction out of them, or just plain ignore em. If you werent a friend, then I just didnt really care.

If you were a friend.. I probablly messed with you more then.

BTW, ...eyes cross, then float aimlessly.
I used my tattoo several times in pk, never noticed if it did anyting, and no one seemed to complain about it. Could you tell me what the affect was?

This character was always trying to whip on a ton of people regardless of the moon.

Whether those were people he actually should have been attacking is a question for people who aren't me, but from what I saw he wasn't a fair-moon druid.

Wow... I was going to post something nice, as I thought Crendal was fairly well roleplayed. And if anyone understood annoying roleplay, I thought it could have been you. Most of the time, I thought you were a complete donkey and played it quite well. I thought it would have been good to have a leader not everyone likes, but is leader because they know how to get things done. Maybe it wasn't roleplaying. ::shrug:: Anyway, good luck with your next, I suppose.

I wrote most of my goodbye still in growing frustration with the dio posters.

Your roleplay stood out, was Very consistant, and your playing an outlander thief.. That is very cool.

Yes I liked you, just.. worrying about someone stealing my inv when I think a raid is coming, or when I know im going to be too stoned to do it, it's just bad. Giving you thornheart for fun wouldnt be very cool either.

I did like you, so dont get me wrong there, I just dont think you should be stealing from cabal mates is all. But glad you enjoyed my character.

I actually started to like Crendal a little bit. Here's the thing. I had to go on a week long trip for work. I've put in many many many hours alone into Outlander. I've worked hard at what I'm doing with Reggie. Now, for you to get inducted while I'm gone, then get harbinger, is rather fast...don't you think? How would you take it if the table was turned. As for what Isaid to you when I got back. Like Aesrira used to say, we were a pack. The lead wolf gets nipped at and attacked at times if the others thing he is weak. So I told you, show it. You had started to, then destroyed the whole thing.

Sorry man, but you deleted rather quick to be throwing insults my way.

I have to say that I am surprised that someone gets a leader position within a week of induction. They could be the most deserving person ever, but a week doesn't seem enough time to demonstrate that.

I think a lot of this stuff is frustration from game taken ooc, and perhaps missplaced. I hate seing that because it's really needless... So what if someone hides away when they are vurnerable? Or if they got someone they know from before equipting them... All that is small change really.
You played a great charecter, that's what metters... if your ass got kicked... well you kicked back stronger of what i saw. If someone hates you for ooc reasons, or takes his ic hate for Crendal to ooc it's ignoreable.
I think your biggest mistake ever with Crendal was taking out frustrating in your farewells post (and deleting of course). I say keep ic ic and ooc ooc though i understand where you come from, being allways outnumbered attacked and seing the folks scatter when you are ready to fight back can make anyone frustraited.

Oh and about the hunting and equipment. Not true.. i never looted a corpse, i think, surely i never destroyed a corpse just to not let the belongings return, and my corpse is allways looted fully, even from useless things.. Like what in the world are you going to do with a glass of wine? it was special to me!!!!! :p

Anyway just saying what i didn't think of saying the first time. Great RP amazing fighting, See you around.

Then Crendal isn't getting to play on a level playing field. That's not really fair.

It's almost equivalent to letting fortress use clients and making Empire tie one hand behind their back and having no use of clients. It will make things an uphill battle from the start.

Crendal was all about relying on yourself, and being able to face anything by yourself, or at least trying mentality.
He was an outcasted, abandoned child, orphaned from dead parents,
and exiled from his caretakers homes.

He pretty much trusted nobody, At all. So people at rank 16
sending me tells saying its time to talk.. Just wasnt going to sit well with him, because similiar to his religios ideals, action speaks over words. And words can only be lies without action.
I wanted outlanders to be proven, and generally lower thank the
specified age, you dont do #### for retrieving, dont have camo, and havent Proven you can get food without cabal powers, and without buying it.

In most of my past outlanders, it is usually post 30-40 when I get inducted, and I think it's great that you have to show that much dedication before getting in.

I know my char seemed to move fast, bust bear in mind, one week to the average player playing a few hours a day.. I was playing in about one day, day and a half, sometimes with 15 playing sessions minus bathroom/dinner breaks.

189hrs in like 2wks or so, is a pretty long time when you think about it, in game.

Last note..

I didnt Ask to be Harbinger, and I'm not even entirely sure why, but I just kept on trucking my chaotic nature, my characers different personalities, which is all in my role, and had a blast doing it. I really felt I couldnt get any farther, not to mention RL, I need to get some things done.

Lol, dude druids have an easy time of getting their own food and water so easy for you. Plus you power rank every single one of your characters and then auto delete a week later. Most people don't do that, so setting it at 28 just sucks for everyone but you. Well good luck with the next one, try not burning yourself out in a week.

The majority of people wanting to join seemed to be turning away from one way to another, so unlike rangers and druids, wont have wild time.

Doing the whole interview induction process, just to get the wildtime message kinda kills the moment also. I thought it was in the better interest to be sure they had it, rather than spoil the moment and time taken into the interview/induction part.

And I've played several non ranger-druid outlanders, even for me
I had to Learn where to get food other than scavenging from another class. I thought this vital to area knowledge of inductees.

Higher rank shows that they are willing to rank, obviously know how to form groups, and have a basic idea on how they should be supporting themselves, w/o powers.

Like with crendal, I was landing PK's pretty nice, even before powers, and to me, and to my leaders idea, this is how he wanted his outlanders to portray. Self-reliance was just a serious issue, and he didn't take it lightly.

I got real bummed to find Huegyn gone, though i found it out much later than it happened. And i only started guessing lately that you are the same player, and now you're gone too! BAH!

I think your rp was awesome, even if i got a bit scared the first time i met you, and you started refering to us both in third person. I didn't even understand it right away, thought you talked to someone invisible. But once i got it it was real cool.

As Crendal you created the impression of the "grumpy professor".. Who actualy is allways there to help but never loses his grumpyness, and is best not to be messed with unless you want a tree growing out of your chest.
Suicidal as our fights was, with you around it was at least for more than nothing.. even if i was too dead to enjoy it, we usualy got what we came for, and it was fun.
Can only say i am sorry about not bweing more help, pking with experienced CFers at this rank and with a ranger out of the woods is something i think will take me more than one dead meat to learn. At least with you around it was well worth it.
And how others had to gang up to five people to take you down, or when they were three you mennaged to get away... cool.
I am really sorry about how i snapped and quit after my last death with you in game.. i try not to take things ooc, but it was just too painfull.

I hope you stay around, and i hope i won't get on your bad side with other charecters . Good luck!

Well pity you didn't stick around, Outlanders need a hardcore leader now to rebuild the cabal. And from your hours I can tell you sticked around a lot

Well good luck with your next.
