Wow. I didn't think you would actually do it. lol. I had been watching your char since I started Nazdreth and the first things that went through my mind when i actually met you were, "HOly hell...what did I get myself into." And "I wanna be like that guy!" lol. Aside from that though you were solid. And an awesome rper too. Sorry to see him go and hopefully you'll be back with another bad ass to rock Cf again. Later.

Talk about a long ride. First of all, this wasnt a rage delete, was actually a long time in the making, things just got dull..drawn out..stale..stagnant, yea know. Akscereh was my get back into Cf char after a long long break that I didn't plan to take (war gets the best of ya, huh? hehe). At first I really didn't have much of a point for him, other than to check out this knew immortal which seemed rather interesting. Things just slowly fell into place, more and more, talk about a snowball rolling down hill, all of a sudden I'm the freaking High Chancellor of my favorite Cabal. First leader, didn't know what I was doing at first and for quite a long while as leader too, it's a lot harder than it looks and more of a job than I want with this game but its got its rewards too, Aks touched more "special" gear than I have seen yet in this great game, and couldn't really use Any of it *sigh*.
Scion is a great cabal and needs to keep on trucking, great Imms and hero Imms (though I didn't see Valg once . Not a rip on you big guy, I know your busy ) and Unlimited potention for where the Cabal goes. And man, I am so sorry I deleted when I did, just didn't have the fire anymore.
Shifters are great, love the randomness and potential amazing power that is possible for the class but it does get dull sometimes. As for quest forms, guys please please please dont give out third tear forms, they should be deserved beyond deserved and rare as #### but put some love into them and make them a little interesting. The program to make quest forms wasn't written for no reason. And I am not saying I deserved one or that I wanted one (though we all know that everyone wants one), I am saying though, that when I got that sand lizard I almost deleted there on the spot just from pure disapointment. Sorry, but had to say something bout it, now on to the goodbyes.
Imms
Eshval - Holy ####ing ####, you are awsome. You scared me, tempted me, made me feel totally worthless and loved at the same time. I can't put into words how many times my jaw dropped when I would interract with you. I have so much to say, but it would be pointless cause you should know it all already. p.s. It was very very hard to delete when I finally decided to
Aarn/Shokai - Very short, quick interaction with both of you, but impressive either way. Shokai, I know you would have thrown something at me but you seemed busy, I just couldn't resist taunting you. Aarn, when you actually popped in and started talking #### to me I freaked, but then "The most Beautiful one" was listening in and she said something to the point of "Beautiful!?! A cave troll wouldn't sleep with him." That gave me a bit of confidence.
Muuloc - Didn't see you around much towards the end. The chasm definately needs a little of your special touch now, hands down, great player, great hero Imm. And the whole secret K quest was awsome, especially when Hylondin and I were in Asgaard, Aks came close to dieing quite a few times to those bastards, and I think you did too.
Dreaa - Last, but definately not least. You are the ####, so very evil and hateful, pure drow, great mage, I could rarely think of something witty and spiteful to throw back at you when you would come over the CB. Keep doin your thing and get some Imm ranks, you need a religion
Scions
Hylondin - Been a while, you were a bad ass and learned how to hold your own without a problem. I am glad you died before you could have challenged me, cause I would not have won
Restraal - Pretty well can't say everything I want to, but you were missed. The Chasm wasn't the same without you and Granaak even though I tried my damnedest to rebuild I pretty well failed terribly.
Granaak - In my opinion, you were one of the greater fire giant sword specs of all cf time. And though you said few words generally, your roleplay was rock solid and you were always up for blood letting.
Treyis - Another classic bastard drow, very well played and rock solid as well. Or relationship could have gotten ugly if you stayed around and actually got advisor and a little leverage behind you.
Judaao - What the hell happened? Always fun running with a more than competent duergar though every now and then I thought you were a bit soft, toughen up and be more of an ass. Oh, and the trip into the depths was awsome, if only you knew how close we actually were to getting to where we needed to go.
Sythlindora - Solid, keep doing what your doing, get that last title and get some toys, show everyone your not to be messed with.
Anubris - Get some balls, be more of a ####, and quite running and leaving your group to get slaughtered. Aside from that, you are doin alright
Ounlee - What the hell happened here too? You had a great concept and reason to get into scion, should have stuck with it and took it somewhere.
Fortress
Iramath - My god, I hated you. There was damn near nothing I could do to stop you, a/b/s or no damned a/b/s. At first, you hated me and called me things like wretch and what not, then it seemed like you thought you could actually turn me (HAH), once you realized that was futile we didn't interact too much again.
Icthaen - Another damn maran I absolutely despised. Our talks were, interesting, and a few times you had me back in my chair wondering what to say back, I usually would just laugh or chortle or some such.
Sydrian - Nother great elf, tough as nails. The time I caught you in Veran and almost had you was great, ended up throwing my water bottle across the room cause you somehow got away.
Jez - What the @#$%@#$%??
Ginharq - You were the only maran I ever truly truly feared. The rest I could just fly up to and rip at, win or loose, and fly away as needed. You on the other hand would always turn the tide on me and all of a sudden I was dead.
Tiburona - Anytime the maran came to raid in huge groups, you were ALWAYS my first target, always. Never really talked to you though
Azid - It's not a comforting feeling knowing that there is a maran Eagle in the air with you and the only thing I could do against you was.. well, Nothing. Enjoy my stuff, it was Earned I guess (retarded mistake on my part, oh well, live and learn eh)
I know there are more but I can't think of them (there are always so many damned marans, like rats I tell ya)
Village
I didn't interact with many of you, but a few of you were tough. And I HAAAATE cloud giant sword spec villagers, god, I hate them
Tribunal
Oni - Hah, the time you were helping me get a boa was awsome. My tattoo started to crawl around on my arm as if trying to get off, then trying to get away from you, That was all the hint I needed, never again traveled with a tribunal (even though I was just going to use you and kill you when the opertunity presented itself) and everytime I would see you I would attack
Tasild - Some of the things you did I definately did not agree with, you and that little tribunal thief
Outlander
Alot of you were solid, and I could say some things but never really traveled with any of you, a few times a war was barely avoided between the chasm and you guys.
Scarab
Mmm.. well, err, yeah
All you various Anathema and uncabaled, I will try to through out a goodbye later on, but its 4 in the damned morning and I need sleep.
fun character, great game (imm's keep it up), yada yada
signing off for now (i'll be back, no one can stay away)
Chris NbM - Aks, Jhalstruuv, Gegreigar, Duasgel, Lokaoan, and various unnamed shifters which never got good forms (why do I never get good forms?!?!)

Too bad everytime I would think of something REALLY witty and goofy to tell you I would get the echo that you were in form. Ah well that's what you get with shifters. I think you got me a couple times in group fights as the panther can be a pain after all (I thought it was a joke after a few of our fights) but unprotected it dropped some mean damage on me. The sand lizard was what made you most annoying to me and Iramath, as I remember us chatting about the number of times he'd have you crazy maledicted or i'd have you impaled/whirled and convulsing and you'd fly off and chill with the lizard only to send us wicked tells a few hours later at full health I also loved the fact that even when a bunch of scions were around, you'd do your own thing flying around fighting solo/or with groups no matter. Two thumbs up.
See ya in the fields

Hey, I thought Aks was great. At first you were a little shaky getting your bearings, especially since you had scheduling problems. Resty was my first leader as well, and at first I felt like I was under pressure to recommend you to be removed from leader. Later on I realized you were doing fine, and that Dreaa and Muuloc could go shove it (those manipulating bastards!).
Seriously all in all a great job from what I could see. You seemed like a combination of old hat with a newbie's sense of wonder and desire to explore. I loved showing you 'the dark places' of Thera, and generally enlightening you to all the little tips and tricks I picked up through the life of Resty and other characters (especially at the end of Resty's life). You, Granaak, and Androkin were pretty much the only three to get 'free' info outta me, so count your blessings I've been wondering how Scion is/has been doing lately, as I am still on a nice long break. Shoot me an email (restraal@gmail.com) or drop me an IM (I'll give it to you through email, otherwise Valg would probably spam me with fan mail) and bring me up to speed on stuff.

This post will mirror my post under the shifter heading in gameplay. 1) Why wasnt Akcsereh given a quest form? What does a shifter have to do to have someone spend 5 minutes to change a few things on an existing form. Seems other classes are getting extra legacies, virtues, special leader weapons, ect. The goal of every shifter is to get a quest form. Remove his panther, and make him a shadow demon. Hell it can even hit and act the same way...spice it up slightly and let him enjoy. There needs to be more special forms given out. Giving out a third tier form like sand lizard or snow badger, doesnt really cut it. 2) Second question. Wht was Aesira, leader of Outlander, given a quest form? Massive Raven, plus final defense form, plus final offense form. If Aesira was more PK orientated, thats the most overpowered combo going. Instead of giving quest forms to your own mortal characters, why not make things more interesting for a class that could use a boost.
It also shouldnt take so long to get special forms. They dont need to be all powerful, kill 5 people at once....just slightly better than average with near appearance. Come on.

What was the last one given out? Am I right in thinking it was the nightmare form, which the recipient complained about?
I can see why that would put someone off coding a new one. It was a nifty form that looked cool, pretty much what was suggested here, yet they complained because it lacked fighting prowess.

Well hell, I didnt want to my opinion to come off like this, just wanted to voice my thoughts on the class and the "magic" of the game, which in many aspects is still as amasing as it used to be, but in some it seems to be dwindling. This was not an attack at anyone for Aks getting a bonus little quest form, and I am quite happy I got anything at all, its just with everything in the past that leaders would get thrown if they truly brought the char to life and Aks being stuck with the Panther (really hate the panther ) for so long and trying my damnedest to make it a force and failing quite often unless I had help. There is really no one answer that can be given for this whole subject and the arguement is there just to see all the sides and make a decision. I will stick by what I said though, that quest forms should be highly unique, highly rare, and pretty damn cool . thanks, and sorry if I pushed any buttons that I shouldnt have

I was just curious as to why you werent given one. Just want to hear from an IMM why you were not worthy of one. I thought you were. What does it take? I dont think they should be as rare as they are. Why bother even putting it in the helpfile if you only give them out every for 1 out of 10000 shifters. WHat makes one shifter better than another? Leader char, fights agaisnt bad odds, evil cabal, roleplays well, has respect of foes, has respect of allies, IMM comments so far have been positve. I am just curious for all us non-immortals what it takes...

If you had put forth an honest post asking "What exactly does it take to get a quest form? If Akcsereh didn't deserve one, what do you look for?", then I bet you would have gotten an honest answer from someone that knows. (I have no idea, I'm not high enough ranking to be involved in quest forms) Instead you couldn't pass up the opportunity to take a weak shot at the imms, and lo and behold, no one is answering. I think everyone should be able to figure out a simple life lesson from this!

Unfortunately it's a fact this happened on a couple occassions, and regular players haven't seen forms as good as those since. Although yes, it is a poor way to phrase it.

A couple? I'm aware of one form (maybe two... I can't remember who played the yeti dude) that went out to a member of the staff's mortal. And a bunch that went out to other people (like Zharradam's displacer beast) who have never been of the staff. That mortal took a roleplay angle that was completely unheard of at the time, when RP in general was pretty thin, and most people just powergamed as much as possible. It was also in an era where the rewards were either pretty nuts (Executioner's Grace, etc.) or borderline useless.
Nowadays, our general sense of balance is more finely tuned, and you see a much larger number of rewards going out, and they're much less likely to break things.
Every time some yahoo brings up crap from 10 years ago, going off crap they heard 8th-hand, involving someone who hasn't been on the staff since before I started playing, it sure does encourage me to code a new reward so that I can hear the same griping for the next ten years about how under/overpowered it was, and how the recipient obviously was played by an Immortal, no matter who the actual player is.

Give my next character the wolverine or something comparable and nobody will ever again accuse the staff of giving super special stuff only to people they like.
And in case I haven't said it recently (though I have) I repeat that the game is ten different kinds of fun and if it weren't none of us would be playing it, no matter how much griping may come along. So.......
Thanks.

Mitzju played the yeti aka Baldur. Cador played the wolverine. The R master guy played the bullette shark. I'm pretty sure he wasn't an imm, but I don't remember offhand. Zharradam got the displacer beast. Iuruku got the griffon, but this was before he became a member of the staff. Nightmare went to a mortal character. Hummingbird went to a mortal who later immed. Ice Drake was a mortal, who immed? Both ravens forms went to mortals. So off the top of my head I only remember one maybe two imms gettings quest forms. I think that pretty much covers it.

I'll toss in Lokilith (gargoyle), who as far as I know was never on staff. The black dragon hatchling was made for someone who wasn't on staff, but he died/deleted before it exited testing and went out. There was also a Cheetah way back when, and I think that guy heroimmed that character, so he wasn't on staff at the time.
So yeah, conspiracy rumor mill aside, it looks like the bulk of them went out to people who weren't on the staff at the time. (One or two out of 13, which is pretty believable when you consider that imms tend to be experienced players with solid RP skills.) Thanks for providing data on some of the old guys- I'm a relative newbie.
I put the words "quest forms" in the title of this post so I can refer to it the next time someone with a bug up their ass claims all quest forms go out to imms.

Hey I appreciated getting a quest form.
Whole point was that they are so few and far between. Many many diserving characters dont get them. They should be given out more. Make the shifter class more interesting. Even minor cosmetic changes to existing forms go along way. Stirring up a little #### at least gets some responses. Wasnt like I was crying sour grapes about myself. I thought Akscereh was deserving, along with many others. We want to see more of them. Even deleting marans were suggesting in their goodbye posts that they would have liked to have seen AKscereh get something. If your 'enemies' are rooting for you to get rewarded, then obviously someone is missing something.
No one has even responded to suggestions Ive made, several times in the past, (even responses to your own posts Valg) in regards to making the shifter class more fun. Theres a reason why shifter logs are so boring. I suggest playing one Valg. Manage a good PK record, do the cabal thing, whatever....and at a certain point when you have accomplished a ton with your char., you will be left with the last goal....to please some IMm with time on his hands to make you a special form. ANy shifter who says its not his/her ultimate goal is full of it. With little effort on the staffs part, you can do more to make it happen.
Now I sound plain whiney...#### it. Shifters suck.

Well, my point was that no one has received forms as powerful as the forms the then-immortals gave themselves. But that point was ancillary to the post you deleted.
My main point is no matter how much you jaded, overworked and underappreciated imms are tired of hearing unreasonable player complaints, I'm tired of hearing Nepenthe bluster and threaten to penalize the entire playerbase in response to single-ownership threads on this board.

Nice job, you've really got those scheming bastards on the ropes this time. I mean it's a perfect trap! There's no way they can prove who wasn't a friend, at least not as thoroughly as they proved you wrong about whether the staff was getting lots of quest forms or not. And if they can't prove you wrong, then obviously you must be right!
I'm sure with this victory you'll have shamed them into being nicer to the playerbase they're so mean awful rotten to all the time.
P.S.
I appologize for flaming, and honestly I don't think you're as much of a jerk as you're coming off as. But throwing around absurd, but non-disprovable accusations around is pretty low.

I guess I don't see "I'm not personally going to give out any quest forms this month because I'm tired of reading that they're never given out but that, by the way, when they are it's because the player is either an imm or giving an imm handjobs" as a threat, but to each his own.

Just to bring this back to being about Akscereh...
I thought this character was worthy of consideration for a quest form. You might even be able to see my commenting as such in his PBF. (Aside: PBF is something that came in during my not-really-playing period and I wasn't generally setting up my comments the right way for the first month or two that I was back.) I left it up to the imms that regularly interacted with him to make that call. When I noticed that he had a seventh standard form that in my opinion complemented the character especially well (given his playing style, cabal, other forms, etc.) I figured that was pretty good already. I mean, less flash, I know, but any quest form I would've pushed for giving you probably wouldn't have helped you out as much as that did.

Akscereh was excellently played. There were times when it was not the case, but unless you look at the PBF, that won't be seen. Characters often have the moments where they shine, and it is the exception when that excellence can be maintained. I felt you had a run of excellence, hence I opted to lobby for an extra form for you as a reward. No, it wasn't a quest form...I did notice you using it a great deal. No, it wasn't an uber-killing beast, but you rp'd it with perfection, building your role and changing appearance to suit.
This to me, speaks highly of your abilities. Anyone can kill with a super-cool form, but only the best can accomplish the weaving of rp and pk that you accomplished. If you felt slighted, I am afraid that will have to be your feeling. I was the one who interacted with you the most, and the one who ultimately did not lobby for a quest form.
All in all, you were eerie, creepy and a good follower of an insane artist. Good Luck, and do not worry about all the fallout. Many folks find it hard to understand the CF is dynamic and changes over time. Players and immortals alike can only do their best to make those changes as positive and rewarding as possible.

Most of the people on IRC are actually not like the jerks what whine here about conspiracies. For the most part they are well informed of times past, such as in this instance, the owners of the quest forms. Those who arnt and start acting like morons about stuff like this get smacked by people that actually know what has been going on for years.

I read that as giving quest forms to their mortal followers, not imms themselves. If I misread that, my apologies. (And on third-reading it looks like I probably did.) I'm not too keen though on labling the post's tone as a 'jerk', however. Seemed like a good post with real questions.

Go out in public. Call people names, and act like an ass. Now, when they react to you, you might smugly say to yourself that you "must have hit a touchy spot".
Optionally, you might also conclude that you get what you deserve.
As for the quest form... I thought Akscereh was a very good character. He got very good rewards, including a leadership post, extra CON, title, interactions, and more. By far more than most characters see in their lifetime.
Quest forms, however, are for exceptional characters. Those are by definition few and far between, and their appeal is largely generated by their rarity.

Instead of a quest form, just tweak the description and gecho of one of their major forms? Doesn't affect game balance much other than possible confustion as to which form you are actually facing, but is a pretty decent reward.

Ignoring the thinly veiled flames flying around, I had a serious question.
You stated :
"Quest forms, however, are for exceptional characters. Those are by definition few and far between, and their appeal is largely generated by their rarity."
Is it just me or do I see more and more the characters with titles/hookups etc. having ####ty pk records. I mean I look at the fortress heroes of late and see that every one of them had a gank-o-meter around 2.0 and yet quite a few were titled etc, third legacies, yada-yada-yada. Is there some unwritten rule that if you are relatively skilled at pk the chances of getting an imm-reward are reduced? Do you want characters that die 5-6 times a day but stayed online for bad odds? For me I just don't see how certain PLAYERS continue to get tons of immteraction, character after character, and yet people who are stacked, with very nice pk ratios, etc are wondering why they never have gotten even an iota of immteraction. Take for instance that Herald who did the paintings a while back (Who I did not know at all IC or OOC). You read her PBF comments and she has an interaction with every different cabal leader. Then you see some character who got empowered/caballed, kicked butt etc and they have not a single PBF comment? What gives? Am I missing something here?

Very few of the stellar pk'ers are steller role players. There are on the other hand a decent amount of players with standout roles/roleplaying that are often significantly less capable in the player killing department.
Also, it takes time to hunt down and kill 150 other players. Time not spent interacting with others for the most part, giving imm's less insight into your character other than the fact that you are death on wheels.

It's funny, but I have the exact opposite impression that you do; I think the better you are at PKing, the more leeway you get re: "super-special RP" for interaction and attention.

Since you replied, I'll use you as a recent example of someone who kicks some butt, roleplays well, and got multiple custom rewards (title, in-room description, quest spell, quest skill, other tweaks). There's plenty of counterexamples of people who got various rewards for roleplay without knowing that the pointy end of the spear goes towards the enemy.
To the original question, the rewards go out to cool characters. Different characters show that in different ways, and it's not like the owner of this thread didn't get anything for his efforts- as I've already pointed out, he got a small pile of medium-sized rewards.

You approached the topic like a *%@^ moron rather than in a constructive way. I've personally heroed about 15 shifters because I love the class. Have I gotten a quest form? No. Would one have been cool to have? Sure. You dont see me bitching here because I didnt get one or didnt see someone else I thought might have deserved not get one. Things happen for a reason, if you dont like how they are happening...*%off and go play another game. I can think of several quest forms that have been handed out in the not far distant past, and like was already mentioned in this thread the nightmare(which IMHO is a badass form) got torn to shreds by its owner because it wasnt the frickin wolverine or something. Maybe if people would take a nicer stance with the staff rather than always being pricks to them we would see more things being given out. When you are always bombarded with what you do wrong and how you only give yourselves special bonuses(which is utter #### and anyone that believes the imms do this is a moron), you tend to be less willing to be kind and giving. Try remembering one of two approaches to life, karma is something which what you give out you will recieve back three fold, or biblically cast your bread upon the water and recieve it back ten fold.
Treat the staff nicer and maybe they will treat you nicer. Just my $1.75.

Great fun. Like most air shifters you were an opportunist, but at the same time you would come and fight as that panther and you were terrific as an enemy. I'll never agree with people who just feel like they shouldn't even try to defend their cabal item at the inner guard. At least show up and try and flee if you have to. You never disappointed in that regard, or in any other really, and it's enemies like you who make the game fun.
One thing, why did you always refer to Vershelt in the female? I can't imagine a more obviously male character than he, but you'd always say wench. It made me laugh, but also curious.
See you in the fields!

You were the third Chancellor Granaak had the pleasure of "serving" under and I thought you did a great job. Like you said, I think you had a semi-rough start but then I think you got the hang of being the head mortal in Scion. Granaak never really cared about what people had to say but cared more about what they did and you most certainly got things done.
I appreciate the kind words and enjoyed terrorizing Thera with you. It was funny when we actually had our three or four members on what it was like..if Restraal, Aksc, Granaak and Hylondin were on, my spies would tell me how the other Cabal's would be on lock down with everyone waiting..and us Scion's would be doing our own thing exploring or working on something for the Muse. I think that was a testament to the leaders in Scion and the way it should be..if there are some scion's on..we may or may not come kill you..it depends if we have something better to do or not. I preferred the "or not" times =)
Great job.
Shoot me an email if you do not mind Granaak@gmail.com I have a question wether or not a certain quest you asked me to help with actually got done. {SCION} the Archmage of Eternal Night: Say it.

Absolutely awesome RP there and I liked the induction a lot. It was definitely a new style that I've never seen before in that respect. You severely pissed me off just -after- I was inducted, though. Us frail drow transmuters six ranks under all of our foes cannot hold up in your suicide runs (and apparently neither could you =) ). Sucks you got the lame forms, though maybe they got an edge against other things you weren't aware of.
Regardless, you were definitely a big part of the Chasm and it has taken a little bit of a nosedive since you've been gone.

We must have tangled at least 20 or 30 times at hero. We were always taking swipes at each other, and it was a lot of fun (apparently just for me, though ). I liked that you stayed completely vile no matter what I did to try and sway you to the light. You scoffed at me, ridiculed me, and promised miseries to come...all very Scionesque and wicked. I honestly wanted to see you get some kind of quest form, since you were out in the trenches all of the time, fighting ####ty odds...and when other Scions were running rampant together, you were often still going solo, which I respect.

Well I had fun fighting you, and most of our interactions were quality. My one complaint is that you had a tendency to bitch about honor when you got ganged down... a trait I find wierd from the Chancellor of dark meanies.
Wish you all the best, and good luck on your next one. Hopefully on my team next time!

Knew I would forget at least one important person, damnit.. sorry! You I did not like fighting in the least, entwine is a pain and if you were with Iramath Hurl was Killer (that reminds me that I also forgot a certain outlander who was a super mage killing machine, sorry Cath). As to the bitching about honor, with certain opponents I had to find some soft spot to pry at, and you seemed likely to respond to that though it ended up being in a way that pretty well said I was bitching, oh well

Knowing the #### you put me through in the Derexal/Lokaoan relationship, its just that much sweeter to be able to put a decent hurt on you this time around . Good character, glad you made it back. Lets make sure to line up on opposite sides of the coin again. Just my luck though it will be another assassinating assassin. This is just my pre-emptive h8r! statement.
It was fun, good luck with whats next.

Extremely well-roleplayed character, I liked Akscereh alot, he had a certain air to him, yet it wasn't the ####headish arrogance one would find in the true asses of Scion. Unfourtantely, this is my second shapeshifter in 8 years of Cfing :-P My third mage over level 30, and I came into the game, without a single knowledge of a prep, (Hardcore Rager :-P)(My first shapeshifter got armadillo, back when we only had one fourth tier, deleted accordingly and very quickly :-P) Anyways, I really had good times with you, from rping, to killing, times were great for a time, facing against incredible odds, but in the end, after the important's start dying, and all you're seeing is new faces, it get's really old, and almost weird :-P
I still can't believe you forgot me :-P
Adios my friend, Good Character and Let's see more
