#36109, "Deleted (Fortress) Icthaen the Indomitable Spirit of the Light"

FIgured i'd get all the goodbyes out of me while it's fresh. Deleted because I felt my roleplay was dwindling along with my interest. I also felt there wasn't much left for me to do. I pked a lot, went up against some cool odds (though towards the end I relied too much on allies which often got me killed) and I knew there was no way I was getting Captain which was my last hope. I don't know how good of a Captain I would've been, crap compared to Iramath i'm sure but i think if they thought I was up for it, I would've gotten it already. No complaints, I received too much attention for a bird anyway

There's also the fact that school is raping me and I simply am way too addicted to this game. I'm in line for a long break. I'd say I won't be back, but I have zero intestinal fortitude so i'm sure i'll be staring at the skull soon enough. On to a few comments and goodbyes.

Pk wise, he turned out to be as good as I planned, for the most part I was happy with my legacies (Fist of the Titan, place of the raging river ) and despite several fights which had me banging my head against the keyboard, I did alright (Those defenses today Martainn were pretty damn fun). Most big fights I had haste and stoneskin up along with my maran powers and the odd time shield, though often i'd just saw screw it, not prep, run in and die and curse at the preps lying in my corpse. A hasted arial axe spec is scary. I ganged too much for my liking, but I fought no matter the odds, at least from my point of view. I made a point of never logging off just 'caus everyone else did or the range got bad. For a couple weeks there were nearly no fights to be had....maybe one evil assassin as the only pk opportunity for hours on end. That's just boring. But things are better now, and Fort will go through a period of struggle without many marans and noone actively inducting. Anyway, on to goodbyes.

Aarn : You are SOOOOO Vynmylak! hehe I kid, but i've had a tatted vynnie follower and i felt the same way following you. You take the best parts of Thror's religion and Vynmylak's and smash them together for a super cool religion. I don't think I even tapped into any of its potential mainly because I was always pking towards the end and didn't even have time to update my role. As always, when I get in the presence of an imm, I freeze up and my emotes turn into jibber jabber. Thanks for bearing with me and you don't know how much your comments on the cabal channel are inspiring to all Fortress members.

Shokai : Was that you who was the Tara'bal on the snow ledge? Either way you're a legend, and for good reason. Wish I could've talked to you in the flesh for some bird on bird action.

Other imm : Thanks for the pimp game. All your hard work is noticed. Exploring a bit with Icthaen made me realize that i'm still a newbie after almost 2 years of playing.

Fortress : Arg. I love you and i hate you. I expected to have to deal with some of you who are new to pking (not that i'm an expert), but from time to time I'd have to clench my hands not to go ooc after yet another healer or scribe would raid without putting up protective shield/translucence AND sanctuary. lol (i'm generalizing, but it did happen quite a few times ). However all of you have good spirit and the right mindset, and that's what's really important and I enjoyed my times with all of you.

Cytherea, Rilliana, Llyria : If I didn't like killing people so much, i'd only play healers because they are definitely the key in any group fight. You've all gotten a lot better since I first met you, and if you keep it up you three will be the sole reason Fort doesn't get hit hard in the upcoming while.

Rycik : Sorry for getting angry about that death. It was just frustrating for me because I had no control over it. You're a good scribe, keep at it. I enjoyed ranking with you when were were little birdies.

Jezerael : I'm glad you're sticking with it. Live and learn. Your complaints were unfounded though, and you deserved what you got. Doesn't make you a bad person, or even a bad healer, just a bad Cardinal. Good luck.

Zak, Azidreth, the dwarves, Nimelerion and all the squires I'm forgetting : Keep with it. Maranation is all about persistance. It's damn tough to seal kills though with shifters, it'd drive me nuts. Nime, take time to get a few basic preps my elf friend and you'll be doing great. Your legacies are sexy. I think I know who you are too, and I guarantee I interacted with one of your chars with Liurnya (felar/rager/defender). I love your style.

Ginharq and Kristin : My regear partners. After every log in which involved one of you two, i'd end up with 70 dam roll and 1150 hp. Too bad i'd go do something crazy and lose it all right away. You both taught me lots, and Kristin it looks like you'll have to take up the slack as Ginharq must be getting damn old. I remember giving her a recommendation with Agaeobab, my last Maran a long time ago. Oh and thanks for bringing me to that Tower, I'd never been there.

Alven: Well deserving Maran, your rp limitations make it damn tough to raid and defend with you though. Great roleplay and competant to say the least. Sorry about getting you killed TWICE in 10 minutes when were younger. I felt like an idiot.

Sydrian, Iramath : Damn you both for deleting. The ownage that would have ocurred if you had hung on would have been fun....at least for a couple days. Great chars both of you. Iramath, thanks for showing me that one thing in the water. That saved my ass many a time after you deleted.

Empire : You guys had it tough, except when Nabburak logged on and kicked ass. The number of times I didn't pincer when you were gushing blood so I could wait for the disembowel was insane. By the time you were writhing, I was either dead or you fled right before. Good enemy. Skolgrar, getting you in town with Onirakoth there was a highlight. Too bad we didn't get to fight more.

Kcejjedi : You were my bane. Even when you missed the assassinate you'd usually get away. I did however get you a few times, once alone which was satisfying and the other times with others. I sometimes got the feeling you would take off your nice set before the assassinate which I think is cheap, but I may be wrong. You were my most annoying foe by far, and the one I worried about the most. Dam it's frustrating to lose a great set to someone wielding nothing but a practice dagger I exagerrate, but you get the picture. You are way too good at assassins.

Scion : Had some pretty awesome fights with almost all of you. Anubris the number of times you managed to get away writhing or convulsing drove me nuts. You manged to pin me down a few times with others though. Get that axes some charges and don't let me disarm it silly. Akscereh you're a stud all around. Treyis sorry about that tough session.....but never sit at your outer without sanc up. Lesson learned. Your RP is cool. Enjoyed the talks. Gakken I think you owned Yintrik....or Pinthovi...two of my ragers from a while back. I forget which, so I was happy I came out on top in our fights. Flurry isn't your only option though

The rest : I'm sure I forgot many. Post and i'll reply.

I'll try to find a way to get my PBF somehow, curious about a couple things.

Thanks to all, it was fun oop.

Icthaen and a long long list of others.

I have only interacted with you once in game, and I was actually looking foward to talking to you more often(once I was older in game of course). And considering all the replies, you were pretty awesome, and it would have been cool to see you as a captain(make my life easier too, since Heas is never on, at least not when I am one). Oh well, maybe I'll see you around on a different character.

From what I seen from you was great stuff. Pity our playing times didn't mesh because invoker plus tanking warrior is fun stuff. So did you get your computer fixed finally or what? I know mines been down for a week or so.

Yeah, everytime I saw Onirakoth on I prayed you would log on so we could go mess him up (stoneshatter him that is) . My comp is fixed and back to it's cute colourful self. The times we were on together there wasn't much to hunt but you seemed to know your stuff without a doubt.
Take care.

Tolchec : Tolchec tells you 'There's only room for one great arial warrior in Thera'... Good times man. I really enjoyed our interactions. It's always walking a thin line when Marans fight and kill neutrals, but I had no problem fighting you since you were so cool in a (from his perspective) cunning deceitful tribunal way. Those tells about getting your talons back had me chuckling. There's nothing like hero warrior/warrior fights so I always looked forward to our battles. I hope you enjoyed them despite losing your gear a couple times. However after the number of sets i'd lost to tribunals, I wasn't about to tell fellow Forties to return your things. Good luck.

Flix : Class act, I really didn't want to kill you on the Mount, but I couldn' t redirect on Tolchec without fleeing. For a second I thought you were a pushover, I later realized not by any means.

Varun, Ghulthruk, Iborenn, Gerylanst : After playing several ragers, I was wary of going up against any of you, so I'm ashamed to say I think I prepped every single time. Varun our talks at the start were a bit too bitchy, but then they got better. Ghulthruk you could've done something cool with the redemption thing, but then you stopped showing up. I had written a bunch of stuff to shokai and aarn about it too. Our fights were just plain ugly. Crazy damage output both ways. Gerylanst I liked you with both of my past two ragers, you'll make a great Commander. I really enjoyed our talk up near Arial City. And did I ever get a laugh out of knowing Ginharq was listening in for most of the talk. Took a lot of guts for her to stand there! I kept telling her to stay back, but she said she was too curious to stay away.

Martainn, Tiburona : Wish you could show up more, any class that could see hidden in Fort is a huge advantage seeing as thieves/assassins are always running around for empire or just being evil in general. Liked both of you. Hang in there.

I am a pushover, I'm just good at fooling people. On the mount was my fault, I was like ahh they're just maran's so I didn't prep at all, in the sewers I prepped more. I'm going to prep more for fights now.

Good luck on your next.

I thought it would be funny to get a rivelry going with you, since I couldn't kill you solo, and I had just gotten those talons like seriously 5 mins before I died to iramath and the band, and I was like, you gotta be kidding me. Anyway nice work, Player liked the char, Mort didn't of course. =P Take it easy, and good luck on your next.

Mainly because he knew he couldn't kill you. Towards the end I made a point of trying to convince other maran/scribes to come help me gang you down, but i realized it was bad rp to bring scribes into Galadon for a bloodfest. So that's why it was just me and Ginharq fighting you and Ceikalaek. I do believe in a one on one fight well prepared I could've taken down you and your army, though it'd be close, and only a disembowel that caught you off guard could finish it. I spent a lot of time sitting a few rooms from you in Galadon checking for your sanc to fall, but I never caught you without it. I must admit, I am a profound tribunal hater and I don't think I could ever play one. Mostly because seeing lvl 18 warriors run after hero fights with guards pulling the 'order all get all corpse' just isn't my thing.

You were alot of fun man. And yeah, youre right, sealing kills with a shifter is damn near impossible. I should have thought of that before trying for a maran. I'll keep plugging away though and more than likely defending like nuts for the next long while. I dont see the fortress getting a new captain anytime soon. Still lacking the cardinal and the marshal and prophet are never around. Yeah it's gonna be rough. You helped zak get past the whole taking his final departure from the fortress and retiring a while back. Had alot of fun with you man. Wished you woulda stuck it out.

What is this?! WHAT IS THIS?!

Damnit, you and Sydrian and Iramath are all in this together, I can tell. Iramath deletes, and Shok and I are like "Maybe we should make Sydrian a leader! Or should it be Icthaen?" "I think Sydrian first because he's older, then Icthaen will be next in line!"

You can see how well THAT worked out.

Great character, certainly not a prototypical rage follower, but it worked. You were a tough bird, I never saw anything get you down in the slightest. I figured when I did that induction on just your recomendation, that you would get the idea that you were next up for leader as soon as the chance arose. I guess not!

Anyhow, good luck with your next.

Ack why do you have to tell me this after I delete! Damn you dwarves and your inability to express your emotions. I realized that my rage would not be something you'd want to set as an example for your new religion, but I thought as my 'reputation' sort of grew it'd be clear that my actions represented a bird that meant business.

I figured my con was too low for leadership, and you giving me Captain would = certain failure in school. Thanks for looking out for my academics . And a big thanks for all you did for the character. I really enjoyed this one.

It's policy here to tell deleted characters about all the TOTALLY awesome things we had planned for them that they missed by deleting. Do we really just make them up on the spot? You'll never know! That's what you get!

No, seriously. You're welcome for the help with the academics thing.

Good job all around. I don't play Aoife as much as I'd like to, but the few times I was able to defend Fort with you were fun. Being mid level healer in a cabal of mostly heros is sort of a blessing and a curse!

You had me chuckling those times you would ask me what I need, i'd say absolutely nothing and you'd say 'yeah right' and show up with gear 10 minutes later.

When you were on I knew there was going to be some good fighting, just wish I could have been hero when you were around and gotten more actively involved in the pking.

I have a soft spot for dwarves. Agaeobab my dwarf shaman still brings back great memories so I liked Ghearden right from the start. Keep throwing yourself in fights and keep ranking up and you'll have a lot of fun. I'm sure Aarn and Shok will find you a good Captain soon enough.
See ya in the fields i'm sure.

Suppose you're the Maran Runaktla talked to most, as
opposed to just focused on trying to kill all the time.
Fights were a bit one sided in my younger days but that
changed (kinda) but is changing more, however the Fort
definitely has a fair amount of competent people still
left.

As far as the ganging, when it did happen, no worries,
I sure don't It's part of the game, so long as you
aren't absolutely one-hundred percent dependent on it,
which you definitely weren't.

I'm feeling the school strain too although I'm managing
to log in a bit regardless, but good luck to you, CF
comes second.

That time you killed me on eastern road with Kcejjedi was embarassing for me. That was one of the times I found myself cursing the unused preps in my inventory and drunken pincer spammage that I fell into from time to time.
A dark elf transmuter isn't exactly the most survivable class, and you seem to be getting a lot better at making them work.
Take care

A real pity, I had looked forward to killing you eventually, which was looking difficult with your accursed "competence." My only hope is that you did not infect the other forties with that most loathsome of attributes. A pity I so rarely got to fight you solo. FYI that impale was extremely bothersome, even without those axes you still fight smart. I also regret that I only interacted with you at the beginning of my existence in the hero range, which was the last couple of days. The few conversations however brief we had were enjoyable. Ah well, we fought many a good brawl, and without you the fortress will be severely lacking in firepower. G'luck on yer next.

Invokers spell death for an arial unless you really prep. Even through Mantle, and stoneskin AND resist lightning your were still doing devastates on average. You were smart to flee when you did yesterday, disembowel was the next command I had put in . I love a good fight, and you seemed quite bent on giving me one. I liked that. I wondered if I could take on invokers as a normal non rager warrior. I think I somewhat succeeded. Anyway, good luck and have fun. Leave our scribes alone please.

Well, I enjoyed interacting with you. You were awesome in battle, I cannot recall the last time someone can go against the odds like you did and just kick butt. Really felt bad about what happened at the chasm today. I look forward to seeing any other creations that you might come up with, and like you, I am addicted as well. Took a break for 2 years and now I am back.

Hah, I left you out just to bug you. That fight that I got you was a definite highlight, even if I did die to my own prep. I sort of felt bad fighting you, since I already knew your style from fighting you countless times with Yintrik and hanging out with you with Pinthovi. Weren't you around for Liurnya too? Geez you are way too old man. Way to be a bad ass drow.
Later.

Another one down already!? No good. Now Gin will just have to drink more ale..you were one of her best buddies after iramath deleted. And I didn't mind helping you re-eq and you losing it like a few hours later..I liked helping you regear and you helped me regear plenty too. And it's good to get a bit of nice gear..to PK with of course. Ahh well..good luck with school! And I'm sure I'll meet your next soon.
