Hey - whoever paid for my PBF, thanks! I'm touched. It's rather boring though, isn't it? But you all can see all the various spells I spammed up from 38%...wow is that painful.

I wonder what kind of a storm mother would raise her kid to be chaotic evil. Rather peculiar story, but I suppose you can create such situation somehow. A role like that would have worked better with human or such, I think.

So! That's that. A couple of words, and a few goodbyes.

As everyone who interacted with Evania probably noticed, E was my first character on CF. I played other muds before, but some friends told me CF was the best of the best, so I wanted to give it a shot. And may I say, this mud is HARD on newbies.

People I loved:

Alarian, you're great. Thank you for giving me a chance with some RP, it was truly appreciated. When you make it to having a religion, I'll have to roll up something that follows you, I'm looking forward to it.

Varkathos - you were the rock this poor newbie clung to! Thanks for
taking pity on me and giving me so much help! You're awesome.

Jaeiin and Aesrira - Man is it hard to have a tell RP with two
different chameleon'd Outlanders. I love the fact that you both were willing to RP with your enemies. I'm only sorry I never made it to hero range so I could make good on all my threats!

Imobach - I was sorry to see you delete, but I hope you found something to play that you like more.

Melacarfina - you really only seemed to take a shine to the people in
the cabal you'd had a hand in getting inducted. Other than that, I love your spirit, and the fact that you still kept your chin up against such terrible odds!

Khalo - Thanks for teaching me to say "NO!!" when someone yells and
asks if I'm ready for them to try and kill me. If E had been a shifter, her form would have absolutely been "sitting duck" in Ruined City. I was thinking to myself, oh my god this wanted shifter has 9 levels on me. Oh my god I have to try and do something about this. Well, I did something. That something was die brutally. Oh, and for the rest of you, if a Tiger is trying to chew your leg off, forget the manacles, just run.

People I didn't really love:

Phaelim - Wow, after every one of our conversations, I was left wishing I hadn't picked sphere purity and tried to follow you. Ah well, you live, you learn. I've read on other posts that people liked their interaction with you, so I'm not sure if you were just that cranky to me or what but...

Onirakoth, of course I'm going to talk about you here. I give you
props for being able to RP what you RP. I find it ironic though that in Varkathos' good bye thread you talk down on him for disrespecting
within the cabal, as disrespect seemed to be the foundation of what you built your character on. I'm not sure what Marmaanth saw in your character that made him think Provost, but I thought the way you treated the other Tribunal was very not cool. A good example is the way you treated Melacarfina the day she asked you (before you became Provost) not to sleep in the Vindicators room. Yeah, it works to play a lawful evil jerk, but a lot of peoplearen't going to want to play that game with you, and I think Tribunal's plumeting numbers are a test to that. A word of heartfelt advice, try and RP with your cabal members, find out their motivations a little bit before
you judge them.

And, lastly, Marmaanth. You definitely took some kind of strong dislike to me, I wish I knew why. I must have done some kind of cabal faux pas on accident. When I saw you made Onirakoth provost, my stomach sank, it really did. And then, right after, it seemed to me like you'd placed all your money on an long shot in a horse race, and when that horse went lame, you ran out onto the race track to push his rear over the finish line, not really caring if you got trampled. I know you're supposed to be the "Voice of Law", but "because I said so" didn't seem very lawful to me. I am glad the help Law file was revised, on the other mud I played Mobs WERE protected under the law system, and since the help file didn't indicate anything else, I assumed this was the same. Well I sure was wrong!
Unfortunately, our argument wasn't even really over that. While yes, from my IC perspective, I couldn't really make an RP difference between mobs and PCs in a city, I understood after that this was an unspoken rule that everyone knew about except me. All I really wanted though was for you and Onirakoth to say Oh, I see how you made that mistake, we should fix this to make it more newbie friendly. But no, you two decided it would be better to treat me like dirt and tell me I wasn't smart enough to "get it." I'll say the same thing Varkathos said, the chances of me playing Tribunal again are zero under current mortal and immortal leadership. I'd like to see
Tribunal work more towards a balance, if you have an evil leader,
consider placing a good leader as well and having them have equal say. It would make the cabal a lot easier to handle for the opposite alignment playing from the leader.


Well, despite some bad experiences with my first character, I have grown to really like this mud, now that I think I'm mostly over the torturous newbie curve. Hopefully my next cabal experience will go better.

I really felt bad about this whole thing. I could tell that you just weren't explained that mobs weren't protected during your induction, like you should have, and I felt bad about having to come down on you like I did. Just as a side note, that whole situation made it to where every applicant gets a talk about exactly who is and who isn't protected by the laws (at least every applicant that gets inducted by me). Tribunal, in my eyes, is supposed to be very newbie friendly and I'm sorry it didn't work out for you.

On other matters, when dealing with Onirakoth, you have to remember what you are dealing with. He is an evil bastard. There are plenty of things that the character does that I don't want to do as a player, but that is his role. Again, like I said under Vark's post, what you were trying to do could have been roleplayed (I've seen it done successfully before) but the way the two of you went about it was just all wrong. From the moment you started shouting out OOC comments, I knew the whole thing was going bust. You just have to remember you were dealing with an evil healer and a lich god, not Bria (an older elf law cabal Imm) . I'm glad the situation didn't turn you off of CF because I could definately see you had some flare to the character and flare goes a long way. Best of luck with your next.

I don't know where the idea that Tribunal should be for "newbies", or that it should be moreso newbie friendly than the other cabals. I think the necessity of relying on cabal mates in times of need is too great for any cabal. It can be stressful being part of a cabal as a newbie. A lot of death, looting, responsibility, etc. I think there is a new direction for the Tribunal with you as Provost. Just my opinion.

Also, sometimes investigating crimes and placing warrants can become slightly overwhelming. If you've ever been a Tribunal, you know what I mean. All the complaints, griping and whining.


Evania just didn't want to understand that only "adventurers" were protected. A term coined by Marmaanth. I think it might have upset Marmaanth that Evania just couldn't accept the "Laws" for what they were. Was looking too much into it. And also wrongfully flagged someone. But Evania couldn't kept on keeping on, I think.

Evania was arguing that the laws didn't say anything to suggest that mobs were not protected.

She is correct in that argument.

Having been told they were protected solves the problem with her, but she is -still- correct that the laws don't spell it out. The laws could use a tweak for newbies.

Evania AND Varkathos continued to argue with Marmaanth, amoungst others that were in Varkathos' log. So no, IC they did not understand and did not want to understand. They wanted clarification beyond the "voice of law", which is what contituted their reprimand.

I don't think your point is being missed so much as it isn't a good point.

I understand perfectly well how the Tribunal law is supposed to work. So no, I wasn't "trying" to understand that.

None of this, and nothing you could say changes the fact that the "mobs are not protected" interpretation was in no way written into the laws at that time.

Tribunal is a cabal about order and process, about having a set of clearly known rules that are followed. It isn't a cabal where "because I say so" should be good enough. It isn't a cabal where "because this is the way we've always done it even if it's not written" should be good enough either. It used to be against the laws to have weapons wielded in a temple and you don't see that being enforced either.

If it's not written in the laws or in the Spire, it shouldn't be part of Tribunal dogma, and you sure as #### shouldn't talk down to people for taking (or in my case, just arguing the validity of) another interpretation.

I want to say one thing: Evania looked damn good for the first character. If you keep playing, your tenth, if not fifth, will become a legend of CF.

In fact, had you stuck it out with this one, it may have been your first that could of taken part in an epic part of CF.

Just go look at what the Ruined City is now.

Ruined City does look amazing, I only wish I'd been able to do more and been able to be a bigger part of that great RP!

As far as my fifth or tenth character goes, I keep reading on all these forums that girls can't pk. Well, by the time I get there, I'm going to have to try and disprove that theory!

I thought you were already gone or something. I really really liked your char. I think you're going to do very well in cf. And yes Mela for the most part only likes those in tribunal or... which ever ones she can had to the list of portential magistrates. Have to keep the recruiting up! Of course Mela has plenty of uncabaled friends... just not many in other cabals. I was soo sad when you got booted. I can't believe you weren't given the chance to come back. I don't know if your char just went crazy when booted or what. Don't get upset over having an evil imm and evil provost. I really believe that just because marmaanth is evil doesn't mean that the cabal goes evil. Yes lots of people in trib are evil, but it's not because of marmaanth. I know when I interview someone if they are good or evil I go over things like if that would interfear with them and law. Because in Mela's mind good and evil doesn't mean anything only law. Which as a player, I think that's how a good tribunal is. Now... those that tend to sway with good and evil... just had spice to the rp. Like the wonderful Onirakoth. You should have gone to be suck in the sands of sorrow with him for like half an hour... make you two warm up too each other. lol Good luck with your next, you're doing great!

It wasn't that the character went nuts, I just didn't want to play. Cabals interest me, and while I probably could have tried to get into Fortress - or played the character insane and tried to go Outlander!! - my heart wasn't in it anymore. There are so many classes/races/cabal combos on CF that interest me, I figured I may as well start fresh.

And I can't say I wasn't offered a spot back in the cabal - Alarian asked me if I wanted back in after I told him what happened. I said no.

As far as sleepover / campout in the sands with Onirakoth goes, two fiesty characters of opposite alignments sharing a sleeping bag sounds like a bad idea to me!

Ya I remember that conversation. Both Jaeiin and I wanted to give you a bite. Its a shame we only got to speak that once after a raid, but I enjoyed it. I especially liked your stealing analogy. I often use it when speaking with applicants who say, outlanders would never steal! Lota fun.
