Coulda deleted, felt like seeing a con death. Basically it's all about everyone being a completely hopeless these days.
No one fights unless the odds are 100% in their favor. It's just a boring way to play. Have ##### to do anyway, so mudding can be put on the shelf for now.
A few goodbyes: Kooble: You have no idea how impressed i was when you returned that stuff. Haven't seen that in a long time. Good work.
Battle: Felt like old times, didn't really notice any change in philosophy except for Sehvoor having the odd power trip and making us go raid. Otherwise nothing wrong there. Scouts are exceptionally cool, didn't regret that choice for a second.
Meushen: Sorry to leave you hangin bro, mans gotta do what a mans gotta do. Damned if we didn't power rank like sons of bitches eh? Have fun.
Loborguz: Good that you're back, you can get some new meat thrown into the mix.
Goapa, Grolgthus, Hralleth.. keep up the good fight.
Grunch: Ok. First of all, you're a whiny bastard. Quit bugging people to level you. Go level yourself for the love of god. This has to be said, i know i'm not the only one you annoy. So if you want to make it as a rager. Get off your ass and do something.
Thror: Don't think you knew it was me, but was surprised as hell when you inducted me. Heh. When you're snooping someone and see them doing something wrong. Don't just completely tell them they're lying when they're explaining to you, because things look completely different when you're in a pk frame of mind.
Scions: Sad group of individuals.
Anyone else, i don't really know or care about. If i missed you, it was probably intentional.

I don't remember the glimpses of stellar roleplay, but that might be because our characters never crossed pathes in the past.
You're actually pretty cool, would of mentioned you but we talked what? Twice? Maybe three times at most? Just basic razzle dazzle crap. Would of been cool to hook up with you as a mort.

Don't get me wrong Sehv. You're probably just what a General needs to be. I didn't miss the point of anything in the war room, it's basic stuff that i've been using for my ragers since i began. It's just now been put into words, no big deal. You as a person really started to lighten up after hanging around us, that was a huge bonus. But when we're all level 40 and you want us to go raid people who can retrieve instantly. Not really much of a point to it, that's all. Otherwise you were alright, willing to joke around and all that jazz.

Yeah, I have to agree. The first time I saw you after you became General, you gave like 5 "commands" when none of us were in battle, on things that had nothing to do with battle, and a few of us shafed a bit. My initial instinct was to say something like "Boy, me was general when you were nothin but an itch in yer daddys pants, dun go talkin tactics to me", but I held off because I figured you were new to being General, and I'd wait and see if you mellowed any, and you did, and rather nicely at that. Jhy was 100% on with that.

An even more rewarding con-death may have led you to be on the pillar. Not sure if that matters to you but you were on the right track.
>No one fights unless the odds >are 100% in their favor. >It's just a boring way >to play. Have ##### to >do anyway, so mudding can >be put on the shelf >for now.
It's hard to tell yourself that you need a break, but judging by the typical critics (see below) it's always best to take a break and let them think what they will of you.
On the same note to those who are posting below: Your posts WILL be removed if they have no substance other than to ridicule a player.
>Battle: Felt like old times, didn't >really notice any change in >philosophy except for Sehvoor having >the odd power trip and >making us go raid. Otherwise >nothing wrong there. Scouts are >exceptionally cool, didn't regret that >choice for a second.
"Tactics" as many would call them, usually don't come to light until a raid defense or offense. Usually it is these times when you see the "thinkers" of battle. Wish you could have felt it out a little more, might give you a better impression of the changes.
>Thror: Don't think you knew it >was me, but was surprised >as hell when you inducted >me. Heh. When you're snooping >someone and see them doing >something wrong. Things are different when you are in a pk frame of mind. Usually because all cabal-beliefs and regards to role are thrown aside. I'll stick by my guns on that one. The uninduct macro was itching for my finger for those individuals involved.
A final note: Knowing who you play means very little to me. I judge 'characters' not people who I haven't met. This being said, Isk was an exceptional character. I'll agree with Intronan, I saw signs of RP and PK that I enjoyed. I also watched you quite a bit before I inducted you, which goes to show that if you put in effort you'll be rewarded. That last request you had of the Battle imms was being considered before you even wrote the note. Sorry it didn't come to pass before you got sick of things.
Good luck on the next one.

Yea, that's cool. It's exactly what i'm doing, taking a break. Not saying i'll never give it another try. This was my first 'new school' rager. It wasn't as bad as i thought.
>"Tactics" as many would call them, >usually don't come to light >until a raid defense or >offense. Usually it is >these times when you see >the "thinkers" of battle. >Wish you could have felt >it out a little more, >might give you a better >impression of the changes.
Hrmm.. when i said it felt like old times, that was meant as a good impression on the changes. It was joking around, having a good time, not the anal retentive crap people were telling me about.
>Things are different when you are >in a pk frame of >mind. Usually because all >cabal-beliefs and regards to role >are thrown aside. I'll >stick by my guns on >that one. The uninduct >macro was itching for my >finger for those individuals involved.

Yea, i figured that when Intronan kind of hinted for me to go for the spot, otherwise i wouldn't of really bothered. Being a leadership type char gets really boring really fast, but then i sit and think, being any type of char gets pretty boring fast at times so what the hell.

You have no idea. I fought you maybe twice...once when you assassinated me (or I think it was you) and the other alone. Hmm...guess what, i wasn't with a group. You call us sad, but you don't have a clue how good/bad any of us are. Maybe you should play a Scion and get to know the good...and the bad within.

I had just struck 1000 hp or so for the first time when I got killed by you five, and really didn't feel like having a 60 dam at the time, so I figured I'd just give you back everything and hopefully get the important pieces of my set back. Getting full looted sucks after you work pretty hard hacking and slashing to get a decent set. And you never really gave me any reason to hate you enough to sac or steal your gear anyway. Oh..and was there anything secret to your escapes on the south aliendar? Man, I had you convulsing twice and went to run you down like the tiger I am only to have you dissapear and not be anywhere near. Bah. Could just be poor observational skills though.

That's too bad. You were going to be my choice for captain to replace aylkar.
You managed to roll a character, get into battle and hero him all in the 13 days I was gone. Still, it was good to meet you and I enjoyed the two days i did get to interract with you. I hope it wasn't because you lost that pretty set of gear.
Good luck with your next char.

Its amazing how someone can get bored or judge the mud over a 13 day period. If you knew the problems before you rolled the char, then why roll it?
Jhy, your response to me was just as emotional as some of my other posts, so dont give me that.
You said on #stank you had accomplised more than me with this short char than i have in my last 3 or something. But i question what is it your trying to get out of CF?
For me its just about having fun, for you, i dont know, maybe you enjoy levelling, maybe your addiction controls you.
You and matty are both good players and you can do things to overcome gangs with an AP, specially a beefy one. But why do you expect this of other people. Its like you think its rude for people not to hurry up and die to you. You got 90% pk ratio, what about those poor fools out there that get 10% maybe they have a bigger right to complain?

Did you have a religious experience or something? Like God blinded you on the road to Hamsah, and now you're all laid back and reasonable and stuff?
Don't get me wrong...I'm not complaining. It's just surprising, in a pleasant sort of way, to see that level of sympathy from you.

I'm seeing a trend here and maybe it is that you get bored with a character relatively quickly... But it seems like you've had several really colorful characters in a span of less then a year (I only came back a couple of months ago and took a break due to bar exam) and in their prime delete them. I've ranked with several of your past characters including your Scarab Fire Giant and Dark Elf Invoker (At least I think those were your characters).
Maybe Parv (Ex-newbie king) is right about something. If you truly want to enjoy a character you should think it out before starting it. You'll find it more enjoyable and perhaps they will not be as boring. Then again, I just think you like the PK aspect of CF and just like tearing apart people from rank 11 to hero range. *shrug*

Some people don't play cf for roleplaying, it's as simple as that. Thinking out a character with incredible depth and personality just isn't an intelligent route to go if that's not the primary reason you play cf (unless you just want better pk powers that are rewards for roleplay *cough* gareth *cough). So far as I see it, a lot of the older players were just in it for some fun pks, chatting with a few other real people while you're playing an addictive game, and just going after various "achievements" (good sets of gear, tattoos, cabals, an odd quest or two, maybe a little exploration). Sure, some of us don't mind a little rp along the way if it isn't too tedious... but in the case of people like Jhyrbian and myself you're very likely going to see a significant amount of our personalities in every char we play (for example, you aren't going to see us play a char who avoids conflict unless they're sure they can win just cause there is a cool role that accompanies it). Generally we don't really "ruin" the roleplay of other people, but an ocassional moonwalk or hammer dance is to be expected.

well i am surprised seen you die once and never seen ya loose any eq, yes i have been a bit whiny with grunch but well when you are actively trying to group and go 15 hours without anyone to group with you get annoyed, especialy if your chances of being able to become a hero are diminishing with time, also grunch gets what he wants some way or another and he is smaht fer an orc. Another note alone bersekrers can really do jack, especialy at high levels, anyone with 2 defenses mastered can pretty much beat the ##### out of an orc unless they have some help, that being said its like playing an assassin that can't tank and can't hide or actualy like a thief that hits hard without hide sneak or backstab. yes orcs can hide but in few places and a lot of places that should be caves are not considred to be so by the way. grunch liked you you were a good assassin, the way you and meushen were constantly mastering skills sort of annoyed the hell out of grunch but I finally did some solo ranking and having to rest 10 hours between each kill is annoying but it does help improve skills.
ahh well how the hell did you manage a con death anyways?

How the heck did you CON die with a 90% pk ratio and only being around for 120 hours? Did you piss off an Imm, or fail a quest or something? Or are you a big baby and con kill yourself because you lost that nice set of gear? You seemed tougher then that.

He got very pissed at me for giving him crap on irc, but i think the man needs to take a break from CF. There are so many good internet games out there, dont let an addiction restrict you to one text based game.
Before you put me on ignore i wanted to tell you I was only pounding on you because i thought i was trying to help you out. I see someone who constantly levels up nice chars and keeps deleteing really early. Levelling is such a waste of time and i wouldnt wish your pattern on anyone.
TAKE A LONG BREAK MAN and get yourself addicted to some internet graphics game.

I'm going to have to go ahead and stand up for him on this one, I watched Isk try to pull some crazy stuff... once heard him try to assassinate someone out of a group of six people heading to raid. I've seen his other characters pull stuff like that too.

Here's a notion for you. When me and Matty were tearing it up. We were usually outnumbered. Did we sit and hide by the cabal guardian? No sir, no we didn't. Did we go out and pick people off and raid? Yes sir, we sure as hell did.

It is one thing being able to talk tactics in what you will do in certain situations while IC.
It is another thing to talk tactics over IRC.
And it is even another being able to talk tactics with someone you know in RL face to face.
I find this an extremely unfair and lame advantage. And please spare me any bull you may have planned on spouting about how you two never did this.

.. it's another thing being able to talk to someone through a peach can string telephone while pking together.
And it's another thing to be Siamese twins with eerie dual-instinct that borders on telepathy!
Don't hate it man, let yourself out. You have my permission.

Plenty of people know each other ooc and form little groups set out to pk as many people as they can. So if this gives them such a fantastic advantage... then how can one of our single characters kill them all? Because the fact that we can talk ooc about tactics doesn't change things in the slightest, we're just more experienced players. The only difference it makes is in character creation (which chars will complement each other in a pk/ranking fashion)... which isn't too prevalent among us since we're fairly single minded individuals when it comes to pk and we would design our chars primarily around that. But hey, maybe you're right... the fact that I can say Duergar is on eastern road, you summon I blackjack in irc rather that saying it via group tell gives us a tremendous advantage, tactically speaking.

I'm not passing judgement because I've played knowing who was playing particular allies/enemies - but just knowing makes a difference. A character suddenly becomes a known quantity rather than a semi-mystery - and it affects how you approach them, the familiarity with which you approach them. Gaining trust in the capabilities of an ally to stick by you and offer support in duress is a process that, IN CHARACTER playing, takes a long time to build - just managing to log in at the same time as someone you don't know OOC is a feat. Knowing who plays this ally totally circumvents this process - jumping you ahead from wary ally that communicates off and on through tells to bosom buddies that are always grouped.
As far as enemies, I don't know about you, but myself, I can't help but ponder the identities of key enemies, and work on knowledge of how they reacted with previous characters (most times I'm wrong I was convinced Mesernyk was Chris Warren, for example). If you make something familiar to you, you gain some semblance of control over the variables in a text game with 100 strangers.
That doesn't bother me so much because CF is a pretty tight community centered around a common interest, so it's almost unavoidable to know/have a really good guess who is playing whom. Myself, I don't think I've ever played a character that at least a few friends didn't guess or know who I was just from patterns - the player base isn't THAT big, and the truly original people are pretty rare.
I don't really care that you guys do this, but to say it gives you no advantage is mistaken. It's a huge advantage even if it's just something that makes you enjoy the game more - OTHERWISE YOU WOULDN'T DO IT.
The only thing that has ever bothered me were situations like the early Be-mused/Arolin tag teams. Like one time when I held Zharradam and was whacking on him, and Arolin was nowhere in the area - and suddenly, lo and behold, Arolin appears out of nowhere, "somehow" knowing his buddy was in danger. Basically when you communicate with each other OOC when there are no means to do it IC.
Timed log ins via irc/icq, calling for help while your character is unable to via irc/icq, working around not being able to communicate in certain quest areas - basically compensating for extenuating circumstances In Character, these are things that I think we should all agree to avoid. And I think in general we do.

>Timed log ins via irc/icq
To some extent we may be guilty of this (if your friend is on it makes the possibility of logging in more attractive). But had we exclusively coordinated, or even done it over 60-70% of the time there's no doubt in my mind we would have been banned... high profile as we were.
>, calling >for help while your character >is unable to via irc/icq,
I can think of maybe one situation when we did this during some 150 hours of playing time. I can only think of snare... and we pretty much knew when we were in danger of getting snared and would alert each other via group tells to watch for it.
>working around not being able >to communicate in certain quest >areas
Since we never went to them, I guess we missed out on this tremendous advantage.
> - basically compensating for >extenuating circumstances In Character, these >are things that I think >we should all agree to >avoid. And I think >in general we do.
As for trusting and gauging a groupmate's skill level... I could figure this out in about half a week of grouping with somebody. I remember a specific situation where mat's invoker and my bard killed bemused's paladin and arolin came in saying something like "no wonder he died, you guys know each other through irc." The kill involved a near miss where mat wandered in to zhar trying to kill me west of galadon(no irc or group tells), zhar flees and teleports and I find him (this time a group tell to mat where he is), mat just misses him before he teleports again and we split to look for him. I decide to sit at his recall point for a bit (once again no group tell.) I don't clearly remember what happened next, but I think I fiended him after he recalled and he dies. How irc helped us tactically, i'll never know. The only real advantage from ooc forms of communication is finding that competent groupmate to begin with.
