and I'm still alive. I guess your not going to get to see me die just yet. It's pretty interesting what happened between our chars. Lei was never made an offer like that and it was a pretty good offer at the time since he never really had anyone do such a thing. What broke it was that you never really saw what some of the other members in Scion did and that's why I did what I did. Damn I bet you were pretty pissed when you weren't able to finish Kay off weren't you...lol. I really wish that attempt had went through too...oh well I have some more people to try it on anyway. I forgot our healers, and I know why.

Phaistus, keep it on man, healer is the best class to learn the game (I never had a healer though, but people says that)

Raiztelan, we had fun. Hard to be a pawn in the newbies hands, yes?

Zhetzasis, you so fucking disappointed me. You began as a slow, but giving some hope healer. I'm tired of asking every commune twice though. Should our chancellors to be not so weak, you would be kicked far away... very far.
If you dies, it's only your own fault, and no one else. Moreso, it's damn hard for the healer to die - but noone have informed you, yes?

Valguarnera: Now you see why did I call you? :-P I should remove myself from the Chasm after that, but Iillien conviced me not to. After all, I was a seeker of power, wasn't I?

This is what most curious for you, isn't it?

If you so want to know, I'm one of the last majas that lives at antarctica on the weekends, and during the rest of the week I spending my time at atlantide. My father was african, he stole my mother from china. But since my grandfather came to china from brasil, my mother wasn't pure chinese. I heard rumors that some of my ancestors were from the nearbly galaxy, and other says that they arrived from the paralel world.

P.S. Does it matter, who are behind the character? It shouldn't bother you.

Well had fun the times we spent together and the exploring. Lately your char was coming across as growing rather impatient, figured it was due to the lich quest seeking. Oh well, you were a good necromancer, shame to see you go.

You were fun, you deserved to get me at least once, and you did (I won't give anyone else that compliment, in particular holson, who was the other person who HAS gotten me, *mutter*). I was bothered that you posted a log with me talking to you about it afterwards, and tried my best to ask you ic politely not to do that again, since I had no ooc way to tell you where I wouldn't have been labeled an ass.

Not saying you were as good as Shamseddin, but you were the first necro since him who has really put the fear of god in me. (I remember seeing half the echoe for getting forget cast on you, and being at large crossroads from the chasm before I realized that it had said you START to feel your memory fade as opposed to you feel your memory fade, or whatever).

Good job, almost wish you were still around to scare me.

You were one of the harder opponents I have ever faced. I never got to fight you one on one, while wearing much more than opal axes, and I think this just added to my "##### there he is again" mentality where you were concerned. You were also one of the very few people I actively looked to gang and kill. Why? Because you did it to me so much. Heh. That and I couldn't take you solo and knew it. All in all you did well I think, and to be honest it's a shame you deleted. You made me be more aware of where I was and who was around me.

What can I say... it was a fucking waste of time.
As I thought, lichquest is a part of the necromancer class. I was mistaken. I wasted 247 fucking hours of my life because some .... said that I will receive my quest. A BIG thank YOU to that immortal. And I know who are you - you very disappointed me.

Now, some farewells.

<u>Scions</u>

Jubornl, I've no idea why Iillien are Chancellor. You should be one.

Iillien... our last chat was so sorry, that I almost deleted right after that. Only hope to receive my lichquest stopped me.

Halisstra. Look Iillien - and stop covering your ooc buddies, this is disgusting.

Mesernyk - right, I never gonna get it (or something else), since it was my last character (I'm not addicted like you are, but perhaps I'll return a few years later, like others do).

Deamal - keep rocking, Chancellorship shall be yours.

Deuras, sturdy man! Your patience and endurance impressed me.

Muartharon: there are no difference, are you online or not - either way you are unreachable.

<u>Other cabals</u>
Tribunals: rot, all of them. Only one of the four flags I deserved - rest of them were set for nothing.
Bria, ocngratulations with the worst cabal I ever seen.

Marans: kittens. I was pissed that I couldn't fight paladins and disten didn't came. I'd show you!! *grin*

Heralds: where???

Entropy: where???

Scarab: you guys rocks, though I met only two of you. Assassinate them all, Gahmn, and scratch my name on their corpses.

Battle: you are there, I know. Continue your gangbanging, you are doing well. Another worst (ourdays) cabal in the game. Coming with mages against me was so disgusting... you know what about I'm talking.

Warlocks: we had fun, though counterspell is a #####.

Sylvans: you lost it, you lost it! Poor you.

Nexus: pontless cabal I think. Terenvil, you annoyed me to hell, otherwise I wouldn't smash you that much.

<u>Other guys</u>

Kaada: you are second cowardly foe after goapa, but maybe wiser - you wouldn't fight me after that event. At least not alone.

Mob, that should give me the fucking quest: you can't even imagine how do I hate you. :-P

Scarab: you lied, but not your fault I think. But I'll use this chance to blame you And MAKE THE DAMNED DOOR!!!! (you know where).

All other immortals: apology for annoying prays.

<u>THE END</u>

P.S. I forgot a lot of you. But I'm not in condition to think clearly - I jsut deleted character that I so enjoyed.

P.P.S. And don't write original roles, it will lead you to nothing good, if nto something fucking wierd, as in my case. I don't pretend that my role was exellent, but not bad at least, assure you. "My parents got raped and killed by bandits, this is why I came to the mage's tower and they taught me magic" is a 100% successful role for getting lichquest.

P.P.P.S. This is very impulsive and insulting post, if you are easily offended by rudeness, please don't read it... or wait, you allready did. Please forget it, in this case. And sleep well.

Sad to see you go, we had good talks before I became a Scion and it seemed like you wanted to see me in. I thought you would become a Chancellor, but what do I know. It was fun to fight alongside you. I'm guessing you never actually "got" a lich quest then? I think Jubornl is cool as well...but is he around that much? Leadership needs to be there to lead, IMO. Anyway, very sad to see you go, you were a force people didn't want to see.

*howl* - what else can I say?
Now I understand, how much Hifflio were pissed.
Judging our last talk (which after I deleted) I figured that I won't have my damned quest... a simple misunderstanding?

Just a single word, like 'patience' would surely change the things. Instead you kept it in secrecy... I think same thing happened to Hifflio. I'm not blaming you nor (hopefuly) whining, but in future, to avoid such situations, perhaps let a PLAYER (not a character) know that it's in process?

Should I have other characters, I'd switch. But I have (had) habit to play only one character per time... perhaps not the best thing if you are playing spectre.

Anyways, thanks for everything... I had plans for your tattoo and had prepaired part of my role for that, but alas. Too late.

P.S. HTML tags. Yeah. I should pay attention before.

My recollections of our last talk, was that Strahd was researching the requirements to create a lich. He doesn't just magically have this knowledge, and it gave me a little bit of time to get it all set up. He also mentioned that if you rushed him, you'd likely end up an abomination, and neither of us wanted that. His last words, were I'll let you know when I'm ready. I don't know how you get "I won't have my damned quest" out of that.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

It looks like my first mesage didn't get in (I can't see it posted). If it's a second one, pelase delete. I hope I do not break any rules of the forum by bringing this log here.

--------> LOG BEGINS <---------------

pray I wish to speak with immortal, responsive for my lichquest. I have a kind of question please.

An Immortal tells you 'Go ahead.'

You tell an Immortal 'Do I have a chance for it? A long time have passed, and I put so much damned effort into this character. (will whine some). I tried to do something good with RP... is it my reward?'

An Immortal tells you 'Not a question we will answer.'

(someone managed to interrupt me despite the deaf mode)

pray got intercepted.

An Immortal tells you 'Continue, if you want.'

You tell an Immortal 'not really want to bother and annoy you. I understand, you can't tell much to the players. But look, it's almost month passed since time that you promised me the damned quest.'

An Immortal tells you 'Lichquests are IC things. You will have to deal with them in that context.'

You tell an Immortal 'hm, but praying isn't ic? and you told me to stop annoy with prayings - and I did. you told me that will send a note soon, but in terms of the game ten years have passed allready.'

An Immortal tells you 'If you are claiming that your prayer was even remotely IC, I disagree.'

You tell an Immortal 'it wasn't ic, and I am claiming that, yes.'

An Immortal tells you 'I will advise you to never use this manner of pursuing quests. It will never help you.'

You tell an Immortal 'I guess. But I tried all other ways.'

You tell an Immortal 'other ways didn't work either - so this is my last resort.'

reply very well, I won't bother you anymore... ever. You can tell me anything that you have right to tell, concerning this topic?

You can now hear tells again.
They aren't here.

I wasn't responsible for your lichquest, but I had spoken to Zulgh recently about it so I knew the story.

I'll stand by my statement: We aren't going to handle quests via OOC methods. I see emailing me about your lichquest as equivalent to emailing me lobbying for cabal leader, or asking for a quest form or whatever. It will never help.

Lichquests are not automatic things. Some necromancers simply won't get them. If you are only playing the character to get one, you may be disappointed. You did a good enough job that you were going to get one, but like any quest, it's handled entirely IC. As Strahd said (paraphrased), he's no expert, and would need a little time to get things right. This to me, sounds kinder than "Well, he's dealing with a lichlore novice, so we'll just adjust the probabilities like so."

My advice to you, and anyone on any quest, lich or not, remains that dropping character in this way (even over pray or email) is a bad plan. I see OOC prays as necessary for dealing with bugs and rules, and little else.

As for your advice at the top of this thread, I can speak from personal experience that you can have pretty unusual roleplay, and get a lichquest just fine. If you think "Ragers burned my village" is going to get the job done, you are sadly mistaken. If your roleplay is solid, and you're patient, the quest will come.

I did pray ooc, as a player of Nkhirath's character. Why did you interfere?
My question was not to the vampire, but to (as I know now) Zulgh. In other words, I asked 'shall I continue play CF and this character or I can get my ass outta here, because month allready passed resultless?'.

Ah well, I'd liek to think that it was simple misunderstanding.

I didn't do squat. I just said "Hey. You should handle this IC, not OOC." Of course, I had done that when you emailed me about your lich quest, not that you got the hint then. When the pray came, I asked around, and it was agreed I should tell you that.

How that becomes "Valg screwed my character" is beyond me.

To me it sounded like 'no, you will not have it'. Maybe I turned into a paranoic becuase of all that time of awaiting. I don't blame you... I blame the system that keeps players (not characters, again) EXTREMELY nervous. Just one little hint to me, as a player... but ##### happens. It's okay, I think I annoyed you a lot with my attempts for immterraction. Take care.

I have no idea what actually happened here in game, just what's written here. I'm sure everyone, Imm's and players alike understand the...anger I suppose is the best word...when they feel like they've "wasted" 250 or however many hours on a character. I think what this post comes down to is this, written by Valg:

>Lichquests are not automatic things. Some necromancers simply >won't get them.
>If you are
>only playing the character to
>get one, you may be
>disappointed. You did a
>good enough job that you Lichquests are not automatic things.
>Some necromancers simply won't get
>them.
>were going to get one,
>but like any quest, it's
>handled entirely IC.

I think this is a perfectly acceptable policy. However, consider two things.
1) "If you are only playing the character to get one, you may be disappointed." How many people role up a necro thinking to themselves, "I just want to rank to Spectre. No matter what, I don't EVER want a lichquest!" I think the answer to that is somewhere close to zero. Therefore I do think this is a perfectly acceptable goal for every necro to have. I also think it's reasonable for that player to be at the least disappointed about not getting one.
2)"Lichquests are not automatic things. Some necromancers simply won't get them." Again, fine. However, let's all put down our IC roles for a moment and remember that we players come to CF for FUN. So when a decision like this is reached, as the person behind the Imm, isn't it reasonable for you to pull the character someplace like the realm of the dead and have a purely OOC conversation. This could be as simple as "You'll never get a lichquest, end of conversation." Or it could be more in depth, explaining WHY they won't, that if they'd like to continue as a Spectre they're more than welcome to, and maybe even some helpful hints as to what the "lichquest-ers" would have liked to have seen for this char to have been given a lichquest. This way, no player "wastes" a month or more of real-time waiting for a lichquest they'll never get. Maybe they'll also learn from it, having a better chance at the quest next time around. As I'm writing this, I'm thinking of logs where players will OOC start ranting and raving at Imm's. To avoid that, maybe send an OOC note to the character rather than have the conversation.

Like any quest, there are going to be evaluation points. If a Spectre walks up to the responsible NPC and says "Hey! Bite me, d00d!", they aren't going to leave that conversation with a quest. It'll be clear IC, though it will likely be unpleasant. They can, however, turn it around and get another quest in the future.

Nkhirath was told, in no uncertain terms, that an NPC was preparing his stuff, but needed time.

What we're looking for: Necromancer deals with his quest by interacting with the NPC, perhaps using IC prays to help communicate his interest to the immortal staff.

What we're not looking for: Emails, OOC prays. Certain exceptions ("I'll be away for the next two weeks...", etc.) can be made, but in no way should they deal with how to do the quest, unless you suspect something is buggy/broken.

This is generally true of all quests.

Examples of the type that were successful for me(*):

"My Lord Nepenthe, I seek solace in your teachings this day. I go to speak with the (Insert your NPC here), and fathoming his mind will be a great challenge."

"May my Lord's hand guide my search for this elixir, and grant me the piercing insight and logic needed to unlock its unknown workings."

Does this clarify what you don't understand? Let me know if I can provide further examples.

(*) I was a tattooed follower of Nepenthe, which is why I chose him, and tried to work in precepts from the Starcrowned religion.

>Lichquests are not automatic things.
>Some necromancers simply won't get them.

This is a misleading statement, in my opinion. As the guy that
has given out the majority of the Lichquests out there, I can
say that there are a couple reasons why you wouldn't get a
Lichquest:

(1) You don't communicate with the right NPC's to obtain one.
(2) Your interactions with said NPC's turns sour and you do
something irreparable.
(3) You are not persistent.

None of these imply that you, for simply being you, won't get
one. I just want to make sure that's clear.

What are the right npc's?
What hours of the day (system time) should one talk to them?
Do you keep a log of all things said/told to a mob?

Otherwise it's a bag of crap

Please do us a favor and stop just being cranky and posting just to hear yourself be negative. Do you really need answers to these questions? Alright, here goes...

>What are the right npc's?

Well golly, one of them is even named in this thread. Don't you even read the threads you flame? I personally know of two others that have worked in the past just by reading this forum and old Spectre elixir deaths. I can think of a couple more possible candidates. And I've never had a necro. Basically, any high level necro or lich in the game. If you can't think of any, that's your own damn fault for not exploring and you probably shouldn't be a lich anyway.

>What hours of the day (system
>time) should one talk to
>them?

It'd be nice if all the immortals put their personal lives on hold just to make sure they were around every day at 2-4pm just so that the 2 spectres in the entire playerbase at any one time can be waited on hand and foot, wouldn't it? No immortals will ever give you a specific time to be there for a quest, nor should they. Welcome to empowerment, at least you got to be level 47 and pretty damned powerful before it was required.

Most immortals are on in the late evening/night system time, try then. If you can't be on at those times (like I usually can't) give up the idea of liching anytime quickly.

>Do you keep a log of
>all things said/told to a
>mob?

Probably not. However, logs of prayers are kept. If you threw in a "pray May the Dark Gods bless my endeavor to become one with undeath." prayer right before speaking to said mob, then there would be a log of that time. Not only that, it's a great way to say to the Imms logged in at the time "Hey, anyone free to help me with this lichquest thing?"

Even if the mob doesn't speak to you right away, it doesn't mean some Imm that doesn't usually do lichquest isn't watching you to report to the ones that do run the quests about how you interacted.

>Otherwise it's a bag of crap

So you have a bag of crap. Go fertilize a couple fields with it and grow something useful...

I largely agree with the sentiments expressed in this post.

One thing I will comment on, however, is:

Most immortals are on in the late evening/night system time, try then. If you can't be on at those times... give up the idea of liching anytime quickly.

Our hours are considerably more diverse than you're giving us credit for here. For more than a few immortals, praying late at night is the best way to consistently miss them. Individual schedules vary quite a bit.

Also, as you realize, we help each other out with this kind of thing, so even if the specific Immortal that is handling your quest isn't around, there are a number of ways for this information to reach their eyes.

Of course i do, i asked in plural

It's not hard to work out the obvious ones, it's also been known in the past that they have prayed to mortal creatures, guid ane eh?

I can easily think of many, it's a shame you missed the entire point of that one line, picking at the connotation that there was somehow right and wrong creatures to speak to when in fact i was pointing out that it's pretty irrelevant which creature you speak to when in fact it matters #####. The imms don't see it, the imms don't hear it, so you might as well not have done it.

Ahh my mentally challenged friend, once more you evade the issue. Imms taking lichquests are few and far between, the time frames that these gents occupy is limited. Thus they will never see you speak / interact with the creature. My point it is constantly being inferred that it is somehow (the royal) -me- that is at fault as opposed to the system. I do not require the imms to be present in the slightest, it's just a shame that they have coded it so much that this is in fact the case, it is they, not i who requires them to be present.

Believe me, i gave up on tattoos, empowerment, leadership, liching or positive immortal interaction long ago and just played for the game itself, which slowly but surely kept getting cut away from me. Liching, empowerment, religion cabals, invokers. It's not me who requires things at a time. I'm just the one penalised for not being there.

Yeah and a fantastic way to break role at the same time, aye?

How you interacted, *chuckle* a one sided interaction with a statue that portrays character details and insight. I can't wait to see that log.

Well, no shite. Think of it in terms of probability. I attack you solo. What are the odds of me actually getting the kill, compared to the odds of you killing me? I'd say fairly small.

Either you take evasive maneuvers or you flee and spam sleep. Let's assume the latter, since you were fairly aggressive. So now it costs me one "sleep resist" each time I have to re-engage. Given that I don't have counterspell, don't have eyes of flame, and save vs. spells from gear don't carry over into form...that leaves me pretty well screwed. If even one of those sleeps succeeds, and I'm in form, then I'm meat.

Incidentally there are two reasons I attacked you the first time, which in retrospect was incredibly stupid. One, I completely forgot about that new "invis to undead" spell. Clearly that made a difference. Two, at the time I mistakenly thought saves from gear counted for shifters...and, accordingly, was decked out in saves gear. Little did I know it had no effect whatsoever.

So, all that being said, I figured my best chance at getting revenge was to catch you off guard and without protections. Maybe you'd be wounded already, or otherwise occupied, and I'd be able to get in a few good rounds with panther. Unfortunately I never got the chance.

I had a feeling you were getting frustrated with the lack of a lich quest, but there is nothing I could do about that. I enjoyed hanging out with you and you showed me some new things that I didn't know before. I understand the frustrations associated with a custom role, but keep in mind (as I have learned much to my chagrin) that when you modify something, you are forcing the Immortal in question to also do some major changing also, and their time constraints might not allow them to do it in as timely a fashion as you would like. Anyhow, good luck with life and with your next character, no matter how long it may take you to get around to it.

you can't imagine how loud did I laugh. thank you, man!

-------- log begins --------

Towering over you, an ancient looking man pays you no he
instead staring east into the rising fires of dawn. His beard is
made of long, crackling flames that weave and dance mysteriously
about his chest, but burn nothing. His sky blue robe flows about
his body, and you can almost hear the sound of the wind passing
from it. He leans on a hooked staff that is a dark charcoal
color. As if noticing you for the first time, he turns his head
as his eyes bore into yours. His eyes blaze with the color of a
deep red sunset, and his eyebrows are small flickering flames.
Large pointed ears thrust out from his flowing hair of flame.
His skin is a deep orange, almost red, and appears iron-hard,
with deep wrinkles.
Sylun the Shepard of Day is in perfect health.

Sylun the Shepard of Day is using:
<worn about body> the robe of wind
<wielded> (Glowing) the staff of dawn

...
Jubornl says 'Staff of Dawn, eh?'

...
Brrrrrrrrr. You shiver uncomfortably.

...
Jubornl says 'Wonder if it makes you do dumb things.'

Well it was fun fighting you. Though we rarely had one on one encounters. But I think they were pretty much even. You made me flee a few times, I made you flee a few times. But I must say the 8 on 1 rapes I've gotten were sometimes just frustrating. None the less you did well. Thanks

I regret not seeking you out for roleplay more often. I enjoy trying to bring out a person's role but for verious reasons we always seemed occupied with differing things. I was hoping to see you Lich and hate to see you delete after that much work but felt it may be coming from our talks. Getting a necro to those ranks is something I have failed at a couple of times and was hoping to learn a bit from ya. See you in the fields.
