Some words on getting a bard into Battle.

It takes time. I was inducted at rank 44. I think I was at least 200 hours old at that point.

Yes, being a battle bard is the equivalant of being held to a higher standard. The standard being purely Rp in nature. I point driven home by Kastellyn trying to talk me out of my life's choice. And everything he said was true. You become a target. First to die in a group, likely to die alot no matter what you do. But as Kastellyn put it, dying and fighting ain't really what a battle bard is about. It's about being the Herald of the Village. Lifting the village spirit. I would say that excludes about 80% of the CF population, just by way to dedication alone.

In line with all this, a word about catching battle IMMS. As I said in my farewell note, I remember reading on the forum somewhere (someone talking about a CF con) Kastellyn is a Navy Aviator person, stationed in MD. If he hasn't been seen lately, one can assume he's busy with that, helping us bomb people and stuff. (as someone who tried to play CF while active duty Military, I can sympathize, it sucks.)

As for Thror, *looks around hoping he doesn't get hammered*... He's just as busy with this religion (even more) than he is with Battle most the time. He's capable, but he's spread thin. The one time I tried to speak with Thror when he was VIS before I got into battle, he was... "Not now lass." He was never too busy for current ragers, don't get me wrong... but I think by way of checking out applicants, he's short in that department. After all though, that's very much what the mortal leadership is for.

Also, sorry you decided to check out.. Of the battle bard applicants, your the only one I remember now.. so you must have done something right.

I hate to say it, but I was disappointed when Nerylana died.
I had such a great role. Unfortunately I had...nil people to roleplay it too.
Oh, and I try to get a recommendation from Sehvoor. What do I have to do? Collect a various magical items. Easy, if I used OOC knowledge. Against my roleplay if I dont. And write about four ragers of old, some of who have nothing written about them. Again, OOC knowledge. Im sure someone will point out that Axzwerlich has his role printed in a library somewhere in deepest darkest thera, unfortunately I have a life and I dont want to spend 50 hours finding it when I can look it up on dios site.

I of course completed the assignment, and most of the knowledge I knew already having been there when the said events occured. So I scribed all Sehvoors idiotic poems that I should have no right knowing, but of course doing that was the only think keeping me going. You begin to stagnate after 40 ranks of roleplaying starvation and constantly fearing the invisible, then you begin to hate the cabal for what it has become.

I liked being a rager as Katisae, and when Intronan said I shoud role another, I did since my second want after a battle berserker was a scout bard. Unfortunately the old adage is false, you dont get out what you put in, you just waste 65 hours of your life with no end in site.

First the Items. I myself found the items I asked you to get by WATCHING mages and warriors, and where they went, neither ooc NOR past character info. If you payed attention, there is a reason that skill is important in Sehvoor's mind, AND those were the items Nerylana had ME find for her...so if you think you would have had a cake walk interview with her as compared to me...I think you just MIGHT be mistaken.

Next the scrolls. Bards need an imm to induct for a reason...and that reason (as far as I understand it, I might be wrong)is that they are supposed to be held to a higher standard. Now...most of my interviews a fairly easy compared to the one I got from Loborguz( as I am not the final say), and the scrolls I asked from you are a fraction of what Lob gave me(without going into details). You are a BARD! A keeper of knowledge and lore. Sehvoor was not going to tell his Immortal patrons that you deserved a hut without knowing that you had the capacity to fit that role in the village. As for who I asked of you, I told you straight out that other than reading about them, you could find the information from talking to other villagers...again, no ooc info required.

As an aside, the villagers I asked of you, were the same ones that Nerylana asked of me...and the answers I gave her I got from purely in game sources...books and ASKING PEOPLE WHO MIGHT KNOW. Heck, Nerylana asked me twice the number I asked you.

I did not ask for poems, but I was very impressed with the extra effort it took to do those poems that I saw, and was just waiting on the completion of them to give you a very glowing recomendation.

My fault that posting on the "other" forum and here in Thror's forum that I will be back in the game saturday was not enough for you.

Sarcasm aside, I really am sorry you felt like you were not having fun anymore and thus deleted. I have been there with other characters and can sympathize, but I have never found it constructive....or really all that truthful...to blame *MY* inability to have fun on others.

I guess my main point is that I was asked to do more than I asked you, and I had ZERO problem with it...so I am somewhat boggled at your attack on me, I thought I was being easy on you.

In some points you misunderstand me, yes it easy the things you gave me, because of knew most of the knowledge already. I didnt know where to get a certain scroll, and I had only talked with axzwerlich, never actually gone over his life story. Yes it could have been much harder, but I repeat again that if I hadnt known it it would have pushed me to use OOC knowledge.

Taking again Axzwerlich as an example. Why should anyone know anything of his life? I could probubly ask any number of people and they could have told me, but he is now a dead and buried character who has nothing written about him, except for a single brief reference somewhere in the lyceum. In the end I just asked a young rager wannabe and he told me about Axzwerlich, how the hell did he know? He was rank 12 and had no right to know it unless in his role somewhere it said 'I know everything about Axzwerlich because I hold the lore of his family'. Certainly for two of the past ragers I gave you stories of, I knew already most of their stories, yet most of the information is not written anywhere, you telling me this isnt pushing me to use OOC info?

And you watched mages? Your hidden, you sneak. Im a bard, I have to ask people. Im not going to lie. So what do you want me to do, tell mage 'Where can I get scrolls foul mage scum?'
Again it comes down to asking for knowledge that pushes people to go OOC.

There are plenty of other ways to find out the mettle of someone, and just because 'your' quests were like that doesnt make it right. On a side note, I knew you were away the day you send your note, I wasnt impatient enough to wait, I deleted on Friday in the knowledge you would be back on saturday, I just had no real inclination to want your recommendation anymore.
