“We must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil, which we must fear most; And that is the indifference of good men.”
Seeing Boondock Saints for the 30th time, and looking to come back to CF after about a year away I got some inspiration. The idea started out as a role idea, a guy who was fed up and decided to get off his ass and do something about crime/evil/etc. What it turned into was a guy who was pissed off that so many people were doing nothing, and bitter that he wasn’t getting the respect he thought he deserved for his deeds. So he changed from just wanting to keep things orderly and following the sphere, into more of a true follower of Khasotholas, bent on dominating the world.
Needless to say my death wasn’t expected. I was planning to be around another good 50 hours, live to 92 or so. But like the help files say, you never know when it’s going to come. I still had two big things going on in Lochzan’s life that I wanted to finish before I went away, one of which I’d been working on for about 200 hours. Unfortunately it just wasn’t to be. Age death aside it just didn’t seem like it was going to happen.
As I’m sure the Tribunal Imms or anyone who knew me early on could attest to, this was the first justice/arbiter/tribunal character I’ve ever attempted. I never made any huge mistakes, but I had my fair share of little ones. It was however not my first empowered char by a long shot, they’re pretty much all I play. Both cause they kick ass and cause I’m a fan of Immteraction.
I met far, far too many people over Lochzan’s lifespan to say goodbye to them all, so I’m going to take the easy way out and just talk about the Imms. Even the ones I don't mention specifically all deserve massive amounts of respect. Anyone who met me, has an opinion about me, whatever, just reply and Ill respond to you as soon as I’m able.
Khasotholas: Not even sure where to begin. Every thing about you impressed me; our discussions about me, the religion, other people. I was just plain amazed. That time you showed up out of nowhere after the “corpse sacrificing incident” is one of my favorite moments from CF. Thanks for the gifts you gave me, even if a couple of them were a bit dysfunctional, hehe. Made quite a bit of a difference and really appreciated the effort. Keep it up man, your becoming famous for being such a quality Imm in the mortal circles.
Lyristeon: We had a couple good chats and I could tell you were screwing with me on occasion. Lochzan didn’t really think of you as more than an annoyance that would be swept aside soon enough. That thing with the master necromancer, I’m not sure it was you, but that was just mean. That’s not to say I didn’t enjoy it. It’s not every day an Imm exploits your double-vuln and kicks your ass. But hey I brought it upon myself now didn’t I? What was the deal with that red lightning, was that your doing? It all sort of abruptly stopped.
Velkurah: We had some good conversations about me, about the Spire, etc. Not sure if it was you or not with the executioner that time but I learned a ton about Tribunal. I was unsure where I was headed OOC at that point, and that really cleared things up.
This is the longest I’ve ever played a single char by about 200 hours. I was starting to get a little burnt out but this gives me a chance to take a little break and start over from scratch. See you all in the fields.
…the withdrawal, its killing me already.

Well, we had a lot of fights, normally me beating the living ####e out of you. The fact that you kept coming when you knew you couldn't win in most cases make me really have alot of respect for you. Sometimes, of course, it seemed like you were just trying to con die, but I realize now that is nowhere near truth, you were just playing your role (at least I think so.) Good character and all that rot.

There was no one I hated running into more than transmuters. No matter how much spell save or paralysis save (which admitedly wasnt all tha much) I was wearing I would still be frozen for 15+ rounds while you spammed away with your disrupts.
By the way, since the PB isnt up yet, I only had 5 deaths left. Wasn't trying to con die but I was damn close.

Glad you did as much as you did. I assume you enjoyed it. I knew there was going to be something different about your you. Give the fact I let you in on some of my lich quest. I mean come on you were a paladin, that says alot about how well you roleplayed. I don't think you had been turned evil at that time either. Well like I said. Glad to see someone I inducted into the Spire last so long and did so much. Perhaps next time it will be the other way around.
Another great induction by Agarah. HAHAHAA

I'm goina have to take at least a little bit of the credit for how I turned out. You may have indicted me into the spire, but I actually accomplished my goals before I age died. Muhahaha.
You were a damn good leader of the Spire but then you had the benefit of doing it in peacetime. When you died and the Outlanders showed up things seemed to go to #### briefly, its all good now though.

I’ll base my farewell around your own reply. “Khasotholas: Not even sure where to begin. Every thing about you impressed me; our discussions about me, the religion, other people. I was just plain amazed. That time you showed up out of nowhere after the “corpse sacrificing incident” is one of my favorite moments from CF.” That was a fun moment, and now I’m the only one left who was there, which is disappointing. My comment was meant to be gentle mockery of you bringing our efforts to nought, and ended up turning out to be the literal truth. It was the first I’d seen of Khasatholas and I can see why he’s popular with the evils now. I might look at making a follower of his one day in the distant future. That’s the problem with playing single characters for so long. You accumulate things you want to try faster than you can try them. “Lyristeon: We had a couple good chats and I could tell you were screwing with me on occasion. It all sort of abruptly stopped.” I don’t know if you are talkin about the time we fought the master necro and he killed you with vamp touch, but if so, I never realised that an imm was involved. I thought it was just the master necro using his usual range of spells, only when he used it on you you took an erradicates and died (healing him a lot in he process), unlike the rest of us who took mangles to devastates. That time though, if it was when we went on to kill the invisible stalker, really brought it home to me how strong the spire and its allies could be at its peak. I was really looking forward to the Spire’s unique position of having an evil paladin and me to run around together if our time’s coincided. I think we could have had some very interesting times against the numerous good paladins outside of the spire.
” This is the longest I’ve ever played a single char by about 200 hours. I was starting to get a little burnt out but this gives me a chance to take a little break and start over from scratch. See you all in the fields.” Probably a classic example of how rp can keep a character interesting when pure pk cannot. Baendra is currently one of my longer lived characters too, having recently become an old lady (although that didn’t stop a thief mugging her). I know you probably won’t want to, but playing another trib could be interesting at this point in time, if you feel like it. “…the withdrawal, its killing me already.” It’s killing me more. Believe me! Anyway, general stuff about Lochzan. I found Lochzan a pretty relaxing guy to hang out with. Interesting because you were taking a path that no other paladin had taken before in my memory, so fascinating to watch and see how you progressed. I’ve been messing around with a lowbie for the last few days since Baendra can’t log on, and some of the characters I’ve grouped with seem to think that the playerbase should all be bowing to their great skill despite the fact that they are able to spam themselves to death on bloodbeasts in FoN, which until now I never knew was possible. It made me realise how much I enjoy most of the current tribunals’ company. There are some excellent players in there but they don’t seem to come with the ooc egos. When there are clashes, they are only the ones you’d expect from having a cabal of diverse alignments who have different alliances outside of the cabal. People complained about Drunsthol and Velkurah doing some cleaning of the cabal, but I think it has paid dividends in terms of the quality of most of the members. You did ask me to take you to meet someone when I’d found him, and I would have been able to do that this week-end if you were still alive. I think you’d have found the trip an interesting (if potentially painful) one and I’d have found it interesting to find out what you wanted from him. Guess now I’ll never know, although I had a hunch about what it was. If you can say here without giving anything away that you shouldn’t, I’d like to know though. I also wonder if we’ll ever subjugate you know where now that the initiator of it has died.

> I think we could have had some very interesting times against the numerous good paladins outside of the spire.
As much fun as that would have been, taking eradicates every other round tends to result in death quickly. But hey, I guess it never hurts to have an extra zombie in tow.
> I’d have found it interesting to find out what you wanted from him. Guess now I’ll never know, although I had a hunch about what it was.
The short of it is that I wanted to convince him to serve Khas/order, etc. It went a bit deeper than that though. I was planning to send him to try and kill Lyristeon. As revenge for the necromancer thing and to prove his worth to Khasotholas.
> I also wonder if we’ll ever subjugate you know where now that the initiator of it has died.
I think Lemath is still trying, but it may die with him.

I had respect for you man.
I mean, I come at you, axes at the ready, knew where you would be, you would know I was coming, would see me coming, yet you would try to fight or stand your ground. An unempowered paladin against an axe spec........not really any other outcomes that I can think of
But kudos for staying.
I liked the talk we had in Hamsah, just sitting. I was hoping maybe I could lead you back, worth a shot I spose.

And see, now I thought I might have been able to turn you evil, too bad.
I almost always say you enter town before you attacked me and could have almost always escaped but Lochzan wasnt the type to run away, especially from a criminal. If you were in town and wanted I was coming for you, no matter how ####ed I was.

Well I had fun with Lochzan, always felt the 'darkness' in him ever since I was inducted and it continued as I was Provost, we tried to do something and it doesn't seem it's goin to work out, I won't quit till I'm dead but I think it's a lost cause, at least so far. Well done with Lochzan, we got to talk some but not to much I'm afraid, I didn't really get to know you even with how much time we spent together, always something goin on. Anyhow, well done sticking it out, and sorry for trying to 'protect' you on quite a few occasions....you were just target practice at that point in time. Nice char, hope you try another spireling, have fun and enjoy the next.

You're definately doing a great job as provost both from the point of view of kicking criminals asses and keeping it full and well directed.
> Well done with Lochzan, we got to talk some but not to much I'm afraid, I didn't really get to know you even with how much time we spent together.
Lots of people knew my general feelings about order, about Khasotholas, but I think only Agarah ever knew about my character's past, childhood etc. He was the only one who ever asked about it.
> Nice char, hope you try another spireling, have fun and enjoy the next.
Nothin against Tribunal but I don't see this happening too soon. Too much downtime. No one ever broke the law when I was in town unles they were a hero and killing me. Had I not been a big shiny target nothing much would have happened at all.

Yes, I was the master necromancer and yes it was all for you.
When you started going bad, Khaso and I just started drooling. We just didn't know who should get more of you. Khaso is a big mean guy, so I let him have you after I played with you a little.
Kudos to taking it to Age Death, it definitely was a hard choice. As far as your being a Tribunal, you fell into the trap that paladins fall into when being one. You stuck with it and that deserves good credit.
Good luck with your next.

Really enjoyed our talks as Tulvaluthian, though I did not ever decide to attack you, don't think. Most of the other goodies were hell-bent on destroying you, Tulvaluthian just wanted to bring you back to the light. Well done age dying. Good luck on the next and great work playing a character that isn't a "power combo" all the way.

Way to stick it out. An evil paladin is a tricky thing to deal with, since frankly paladins aren't evil. I worked with Khaso a bit on what we could do with you, (though most of it was him), and I'm glad you had fun with it. Your betrayer status exempted you from promotion beyond Provincial Magistrate in the Spire, as you probably realized, which is unfortunate since I think you could have earned your way up a bit.
Yes, it was me as the executioner (it usually is), and I'm glad that cleared things up for you... either way, it was well roleplayed. Good luck with your next character.

Actually no, I didn't realize. I really wanted Justiciar and figured I had screwed up somehow and no one had told me. Theres also no way to find out about such a thing because asking an Imm about becoming a Justiciar actomatically gets you barred from becoming one. I asked Optom all the time about what he had done, that sort of thing, to become a Justiciar. I guess no one happened to be listening.

I was one of the people blocking your promotions
I couldn't recommend you for anything since we knew how hard you were pushing the Khasotholas religion thing. Please don't take it personally, but the Spire is the Spire and having the Lord of the Empire empower and control a justiciar would be too much. Assides from that, I suggested Lemath become provost because we'd spent so much time with leaders pushing extremes. Either, harsh and evil or soft and peaceful. Lemath was meant to herald a new era of neutrality and pushing you up to either provost or justiciar would have been counter-productive.
That said, you did loads of great stuff just as a provincial. You were, without a doubt, the best provincial out there. A great mix of experiance and dedication meant in any other situation you'd be a prime candidate for Justiciar. The whole subjugation thing was great and I was hoping you'd do well. It would have been a great way to immortalise your name - adding another city to our collection!!! Hopefully, we'll be able to pull it off and you'll be remembered for being the main force behind it all.
I certainly hope you enjoy your next character - you proved dedication and roleplay is all you need to really enjoy this game. Kudos to you!

First I would like to say that Boondock Saints is one of my favorite movies of all time.
Now, I will say that you were the only paladin I didn't like killing or fighting. Not because you were over virtued like most paladins making them unkillable by one person, but because you were evil and thus had no real problem with you. Your character was very well played and our conflicts were always over you trying to keep me from getting to that mage or this mage in Galadon.
So good luck with your next, I was greatly impressed.

I hated fighting you, I never once saw one of your skills fail against me or anyone else. Your role, at least what I knew of it, seemed to be an intresting take on the village and magic hating.
As far as that scroll I sent you, I the player didn't really believe it, since you claimed to hold order to such a high standard. Lochzan didn't doubt your alliance in the slightest though. Mostly cause Khas said the village couldn't be trusted. Blind faith anyone?

I'll reply more in depth when and if you post a farewell. For now, I'll say it's one of my great disappointments as an imm that I wasn't able to do more with you. I just rarely saw you on at the same time as me, even though whenever I watched, you were just doing an excellent job. Sticking it out with the drawbacks you had, and with the perserverance you did is quite admirable. I had more powers and things coming for you, but I'm a bit slow lately.

We've had cabal leaders age die at 500-600 hours recently (although I've thought for some time that duergar seem to age very quickly in "hour" terms. But it wasn't just the duergar imperials, it was Agarah (human) too if I recall
Now we have someone age-dying at <500 hours?
Just wondering if age_death has been brought forward in some fashion?
I mean, I've played characters with more hours than these people who are age dying.
