There are plenty of people I'd like to mention, but my memory for names is terrible, so if I didn't get it into my files, by now I've forgotten your name. Feel free to remind me if I've missed anyone.

The following is in chronological order from my journal, so many of the most important people to me IC won't be mentioned til late in this entry, or even until the next one.

Bria: My first real interaction with anyone was because I began with just the name 'Aka', which I foolishly overlooked as being short for 'Also Known As'. That made me feel dense. Thank you for helping me come up with a new/extended name, even though I think neither of us realized at the time it began with the area name 'Akan'.

Kjintareth: While resting my feet in the Inn, we began talking about religion. You said you wanted to be empowered by Mayesha, and eventually we adjourned to her shrine, where we talked for quite a while. The only elven paladin I'd ever known who wanted her for a patron. If I were playing almost any other character, I'd probably have followed her myself. Instead, I eventually ended up searching for Yanoreth for quite a while, and didn't quite follow her after finding it anyway, though I prayed to her some. I enjoyed examining both Mayesha's and Yanoreth's shrines.

Iolar: I'd wanted to see how far and how quickly I could level solo, so after I'd reached 21st level and died 12 times (3 before 3rd level, but I didn't worry), I decided to group for the first time, and you were it. I recorded the names of our groupmates by memory as Arabella and after her Prendarid. That was the day before I began a long and very silly feud with the flying puppy. It killed me more than once, but I got it in the end.

Jeminah: You were my first PK death, I was 22nd and you were 24th. I still prefer that if anything is left behind it be my sack/backpack/etc, but you and many others didn't like leaving it. Annoying, but I sort of understand why you might want to take 'preps' from your enemies, even though I was never one to carry much more than food, return potions, and some see invis stuff.

Nelphrittos and Endrer: The next group I was in. While with you I got attacked by Teris, who had asked me to join him earlier that day. This got me wondering if some people would lure in potential kills by asking them to group.

Rushka and Belgre: We travelled together once, and I remember liking you two. Your being evil didn't seem to be much of a problem to the 3 of us getting along. I prefer it that way, no reason to argue or harm each other when working for our mutual benefit.

Nirumas: A Tribunal member who apparently hunted people down for fun while off duty. I didn't understand you, but we got along ok. We ran into each other plenty, but I don't remember us ever really talking much beyond grouping twice.

Deehuryndeeh: I could never spell your name right, but I liked you regardless. You were with Nirumas and I the first time, and I ran into you a lot for a while. I liked you a lot. Too bad our first meeting included my 15th death, to not running fast enough from a sahuagin. I'm still not entirely sure were those things come from, but for a while it was more important to just keep away from them. Two days after we met, you worked hard at keeping a third around, and helped me get completely out of the xp hole the sahuagin caused. After you had to go, Pugtuck and I got Dileztiram to help out.

Others I grouped with right after that: Tuamotu, Drewbon (you accidentally attacked me, I accidentally attacked you, I learned a lot about transmuters from that mess), Falgmart, Gronshieka (who was wanted at the time), Khepri, Hardesthar & Gyois (sorry for disappointing you two and not going player hunting, but I've never enjoyed PK, and anyway my RP had already established peaceful dealings with other PCs by then), Cleredel, Gragreij, Zaraz, Idiafi, and Myrnaii & Octorn (both died to a quick surprise attack by Nydirawyn while we were all weakened from sparring practice, I managed to rescue some of their things, but not them personally)

Then things began to get a little odd. I was foolishly sleeping in the Galadon warriors' guild, and got killed by Llanthander. Charren recovered and replaced most of what I lost there, except for my blade, which Llanthander had sold to Olin. I was at the Inn trying to get my head back together and mentioned my lost sword aloud, at which Meladori simply handed me one, exactly like it. Then Khalil bought my old one, and gave it to Meladori to replace hers, but she gave me that one as well. The two together worked quite nicely, and later I went off with Nirumas the second time, with Algheregan along.

Meladori was the first Herald I ever really 'met', and not long after I first met Shiluzar. The same day I first got killed by the AP I kept failing to catch the name of. (he seemed to be quite the PKer and his name began with Q; I wish I could remember it, seemed to travel with Kurgtuk a lot)

Anyhow, that evening I told Shiluzar my first IC story, and she encouraged me to join the Heralds. I'd thought about it, and that clinched it for me. I loved being part of the cabal when I finally got in, but I never quite felt like a perfect fit with the rest of them.

Meladori: the first Herald I ever got to know, and always one of the best. Did you ever see Hell? I didn't.

Shiluzar: the second Herald I knew, though not nearly as well, also one of the best.

Aneriasha: Because of you, I got to play with my very own chest of inebriation. I may always wonder what was up with that drider attack on the Inn that day.

Airael: Hardly knew ye, but I liked you anyhow.

N'schael: Whoever you were, thanks for giving me the shot at being part of the whole thing with the mask. I never did find out much about that, and I still wonder sometimes about what it was all about.

Dicasa: I knew you too briefly and was sad to see you go, but I enjoyed what time we hung out together. And the pink pixies.

Iunna: You talk me out of quitting the cabal, yet I was out on my ear anyway once RL stopped getting in the way of mudding. I never saw you again after that. Maybe you'll be back to help out the Heralds once more. I hope so.

Mossi: My favorite of the excellent second wave of Heralds during Akanten's time around the Inn, after almost everyone else from his Herald days were gone.

Vashka: I swore to you I'd never kill another storm giant, and I didn't.

Paeleg: You and Cosmo were great, I loved every minute of it.

Ocelevan: The day we extinguished Galadon was both a lot more fun and a lot more tiring than I would've expected had I known.

Ghuljun: You killed me more than once, to the point that I was afraid to stop in Udgaard while you lived. You were responsible for a full third of my PK deaths.

Jegrael: You kept trying to get me, A+ for persistence.

Nurwon, Rahalans, Zharaluzar, Nobuo, Folorad, and many, many others, all good friends.

Everybody I forgot to mention: it doesn't mean I wouldn't like to mention you, just that I suck at keeping journals. I've lost many names to poor entry making, and the significance of some of the names I didn't lose.

(by the way, who was the gnome with the glasses and wands? I never could remember his name, but he was great)

Mayesha: Still missing you. I'd hoped you'd stay.

This may be one of the longest periods a non-Immortal has survived, dating all the way back to September 20th 2002. Nearly two years, at varying levels of activity for 13 months, but nearly nothing since October last year.

This began as an exploration character, and while I didn't get to personally explore a whole lot in depth, it was a lot of fun, and in my 8-9 years at CF it was my first and only hero. Also my only Herald, though the days with them didn't last long, since Akanten was IC as awkward around groups as I ever was, maybe more. Odd for someone who loves telling stories in and out of game, but true.

With all the people who tried to hunt me down, I only died about 12 times to PK, and I only recall one PK death I caused, to the guy I was grouped with. He ran and our other group member delivered the killing blow a room away from me. Odd.

I died plenty of times to my own foolishness, a good 38 or so I think. (I kept a character diary on my hard drive, and it wasn't always very accurate) A good chunk of those were in mapping the Whitecloak place as a hero. I finished it, though since I explored it alone I still don't know as much about the stuff there as I'd like.

I'd hoped to age die, or even possibly become an Immortal, but life away from CF got in the way, and probably still will for a while. I've dug a bit of a financial hole and need to keep working at climbing out of it.

I'll put some goodbyes in another entry, this one's getting long.

Hmm, my first response seems to not have posted so I'll give it another shot. Good times running into you at the Inn on a few occassions. Mostly I think we traded stories about characters long gone and our adventures with them. We may have even travelled together once or twice, but mostly I remember just hanging out at the Inn. Thought you had a very well developed character and solid RP. Well done.

Btw, it's amazing how closely your farewell post mirrors my own situation. I hope you won't mind when I copy it verbatim and post it as my own. Hopefully that won't be for some time though.
