Thanks for all the interaction Phaelim, I'm sure you were sick of me bothering you with all the questions. Tulvaluthian was an arrogant character yet also one who believed in truth. For him it was very hard to understand some of the things you were saying. And in his arrogance he even sought to judge your decision-making. Hope you don't think that was just me bitching, it was more of an attempt to strike up some RP. Thanks for the talks.

Some people said bad things on you, I just hope you don't care too much...

I realy enjoyed running and fighting with you, you were one of Pombe's best friends. It's a shame we did not interact and fight more together. I con-died rather quickly!

Good luck with the next.

Pombe.

I liked this character from a pk standpoint far more then Dralith. It's much easier to fight people when you can prep up and take grazes and scratches all day. Exploring with this character was also a lot easier, and more effective. As a builder myself, I have to say my hat is really off to the area team here at CF, the explore areas are really top of the line. I also liked how barrier wands got a big boost to charges which made regathering them not such a chore.

Tulvaluthian was a believer in life and in love, sort of a romantic who only wanted to see the world become a better place. Around rank 46 I found a unique barrier rod which honestly changed the characters life. When you have a renewable source of barrier, that you can in effect hoard, it makes solo exploring lots easier. A lot of people said Tulvaluthian was greedy, and if you mean keeping nice gear greedy, then so be it. But he wasn't this giant hypocrite saying gear doesn't matter all while being decked to the ####. Gear was very important, but not essential, I lost some really nice sets with this char, but it comes and goes. A lot of people also tried to say I would not fight anyone alone. Well frankly I think a significant amount of people are far better at talking then doing. Joined the fortress, and quickly remembered why I despised it and asked to be uninducted. Cabal wars are...not so much my cup of tea anymore. You take the item, then 10 little peons who you cannot harm come and retrieve, all while Jim the Hero does not even defend or try and retrieve himself. It was very frustrating. I tried as a player to defend everytime a guardian was attacked, but that is just me. Invokers as a whole are very very strong, I think a lot of people believe I think they suck now that I know they can be bashed throuh major shields. That isn't the case, I simply would rather play a character with more reliable protection. Taking deathblows for lower case damage with full shields is just plain sick though. I fought a lot of people too numerous to name, so I will list a few I thought were really really good.

Jinroh, Nhiala, Hamashor, Janakt, Blitzenturt, Ahndak, Zavin, Ranak, Celebrimbor, Vahletharien, Hashok, Keldszak, Grottimgesh, Zauttevre, Nagesh, Audriel, Drezulok, Argrodohm, Gulthruck, Beaux, Zhaorayne, and probably a bunch more I forgot, but these stand out to me.

Shadowmaster.

Hey man,

I really enjoyed your character alot. I think you sort of used me as a sounding board for your RP, which ended up being great - I got your back for anyone who might say you didn't RP or it was poor quality, that just wasn't the case. We had a lot of fun toward the end. I apologize for not being around recently, I just switched to wireless internet and my connection has been extremely erratic.

Yeah in a lot of ways Tulvaluthian looked up to Vahletharien. You were able to see a side of him not a lot of people did and I always had a blast RP'ing with you. Good luck and all

Your description of cabal wars is strikingly apt... granted, fighting in the village isn't everybody's cup of tea, but I can count the number of times I've fought at the Destructor on two fingers. And I can count the number of times I've faced defenders at THEIR inner guardian on one hand. And I'd need a duffel bag full of amputated fingers to count the number of times I've seen a group of 4+ lowbies swarm our poor giant. At some point you simply have to stop taking items, because all you're doing is slowly con killing your out-of-hero-range cabalmates.

On to you, I had a great time fighting Tulvaluthian, and we had a couple of good conversations. I don't recall either of us conclusively winning a fight, but there were several close calls. Hamashor appreciates anyone willing to stick it out and see a fight through to its conclusion when the outcome isn't certain, and you were one of those.

I cannot believe how many people have barrier. It borders on ridiculous. Every time I fought you, you were barriered. No matter how long the fight lasted, barriered. We had some good fights, and when I finally con die or age death, I'll write a book for how to deal with quicksand. I have spent more time in quicksand than out of quicksand when fighting invokers. All in all you were a pretty good invoker and it was always enjoyable to fight you. Your smack talk was entertaining, somewhat child like, but seemed to fit what you were trying to accomplish. I think you will find one thing when you move on to another character, is that invokers and their protections are vastly superior to any other class. You have just been spoiled up to this point .

On a side note, I had no idea invokers could be bashed like that until you brought it up, thanks. Just understand that whatever situation you put your invoker in where he can be screwed, put another class, a warrior or thief, and they would be even more screwed. Invokers have not only bash protection, but also damage reduction and immunity, and skill protection against many warrior specs that no other mage has access to. I would think a drawback like this is an equalling factor to the fact that an invoker has protection against pincer, cranial, hamstring, tigerclaw, throat strikes, stun, lash, assassin kicks, trip, and a whole host of skills that no other mage can protect from. Try playing a necro who gets pincered all the time and you will regain your perspective.

Sad to see you go, but when we last spoke I got the distinct impression something was brewing, and I was to tiered at the moment to mention it. Had been about to long, exploring and talking to others. Which is the biggest problem I have with the shifter class, no communication whatsoever...*sigh*

We did some nice things together, you will be missed, I had hoped you would come along and explore some places with me.

still scratching my head on why you went inn and charged at 4 scions alone, especially when we came so close the last time. And knowing had you waited just a bit I would gladly have joined you again.

Hope you return with something you will be more happy with.

Reazaifr.

I have something different to say about your character. Though I was impressed with the courage you showed, the amount of times you whined to me (and Phaelim, heh) just bordered on OOC stupidity. You would call me a coward and say this and that about Village rules... when you were a mage. Though I don't find this very surprising, as many tend to do it, sometimes you would almost break character with saying innane things. An example is when I was attempting to stalk Zavin and you came happily along. Zavin wasn't around, so I started stalking you. After I made you flee (and vice versa before that), you yapped my ear off for a real time 40 minutes. It was quite irritating.

I think when you bitched about bash, you just came off differently then how you wanted. Many people think Invokers have alot of power (maybe too much and I am certainly one of them) and when you come on both boards and bitch about it.. it leaves a bad taste in many people's mouths. The way you brought it up here was well thought out and inputted though, so just keep that in mind next time you want something changed. Other then that, good luck with the rest of your characters.

I knew I had about as much chance killing you as you did killing me without assassinate, so I figured I would try to open up some RP and understand your char better, but it did not work out. Well played.

No offense but as soon as I read this I laughed. I guess having shields to make you immune to many attacks, and dam redux up the wall isnt enough? Like Jinroh said an Invoker with Barrier is... let us say interesting. Overall I enojoyed tigerclawing you once in a while, other than that, you seemed to do what most invokers do is as soon as the situation looked bad you ran away, but you always struck when i was occupied so props to you. Good luck with the next.

Thanks for the shout out. In my mind Tulvaluthian was a mixed bag. I'm sure lots of people feel the same way about Nhiala, so don't read into that more than you should.

On the positive side, you seemed fairly effective at killing people. That alone probably qualifies you as a standout among Team Good ©.

On the negative side, when we would interact it often seemed as if you were role-playing "at" me rather than "with" me. By that I mean you had something you wanted to get across, and my job was just to nod in agreement and sigh at the infinite gravity of whatever you were saying.

I'd also echo the gear comment. At one point it seemed like you tried to bribe me with Defiance so that I'd help you with stoneform. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with helping out fortress people with gear. But when you suggested the idea it felt very quid pro quo. As in, "You help me get A and I'll help you get B. Otherwise, I'm not helping you get B." Slightly uncool.

All in all a decent character. And if you managed to enjoy yourself, then I call it a success.

"On the positive side, you seemed fairly effective at killing people. That alone probably qualifies you as a standout among Team Good ©."

Why is it that in general, team good is so inferior to team evil at player killing? This was one of the most maddening parts of playing a goodie. That and not being able to kill people that pissed me off.

"On the negative side, when we would interact it often seemed as if you were role-playing "at" me rather than "with" me. By that I mean you had something you wanted to get across, and my job was just to nod in agreement and sigh at the infinite gravity of whatever you were saying."

Uh, ok. Sorry I came across like that but it was not my intention. I do so how I came across like that but it was mostly Tulvaluthian seeking your advice because he looked up to you. Sorry if that made it feel like you were just a listener! Great character, I always enjoyed interacting with you.

I find it ironic the people who say most often "Gear doesn't matter" are the most decked characters in the game. As for helping you with Defiance, I was merely letting you know IC that I knew how bad it sucked helping me get stoneform and that I'd gladly go off on a long journey to help you get something similar. It wasn't a bribe so much as trying to thank you for your help.

"Why is it that in general, team good is so inferior to team
evil at player killing?"

I've wondered this myself. Probably a combination of things. I think it's that skilled player killers don't like being hampered by things like altruism, honor, generosity, etc. If the goal is to be as fearsome as possible, those sort of role-play restrictions can be more detrimental than class or race issues. Case in point: compare Yanacek to Lariya. I don't know about you, but I find Yanacek infinitely more scary.

"Uh, ok. Sorry I came across like that but it was not my
intention. I do so how I came across like that but it was
mostly Tulvaluthian seeking your advice because he looked up
to you."

Maybe you just laid on the role-play a little too thick at times. Or it could just be my imagination. Really it was just the one time in the mountains outside the fort. That may have been before you were inducted.

"As for helping you with Defiance, I was merely letting you know
IC that I knew how bad it sucked helping me get stoneform and
that I'd gladly go off on a long journey to help you get

Oh. Well, I feel dumb. Thanks for thinking of me.

Various reasons why team good isn't as lethal as team evil. Some of it is class based. The AP is a better killer than the paladin, though more fragile. Duergars can see hidden thieves and assassins, which is another reason why likewalker thieves and assassins can't really shine.

I also think it's a personality mix. I've noted that people who play good simply tend to be "nice" people who want to play the game, not so much kill people in the game. Invariably, people who play evil solely are, as Nhiala puts it, people who want maximum opportuntiy to have maximum quantity/quality kills. That opens you up to killing good, neutral and evil.
