Without repeating what others have said, I'll also add that I could only concur with everyone elses assessment of Bobbobimb's aimlessness based on the note you sent to Lyristeon and I after you became neutral. The note was entirely unclear as to whether you wanted to 'recover' from your neutrality and become good again, or whether you wanted to be embraced into neutrality, which is why I responded the way I did. I might have been inclined to give you a chance at a recovery, or at least some sort of guidance, if you had expressed some form of direction. Instead all I saw in that note was "give me my specs back, and I don't care how", which may well have been how *you* the player felt, but it didn't reflect anything about how Bobbobimb felt or what he wanted. And since you didn't have a role on top of it, it was virtually impossible to tell where your character was going, so we all assessed you to be going absolutely nowhere.

That said, you did have a stick-to-it-edness that most people wouldn't have (which is why I would have given you some guidance if I had seen any direction to speak of). I hope you found the character to be a learning experience, and can do better next time. I'd also strongly advise reviewing some of our helpfiles regarding roleplaying and alignment.

Good luck, and have fun.

Bobbobimb was the first arial I've ever made, also
he was the first char I've made for the Fortress. I
didn't play him for very long, overall, but he
heroed quick. He knew a lot of people, both friend
and foe, during the short time I played him, and here
are some of the people I need to thank:

Mairra- Friend since the twenties, always reliable
and a good friend. Had fun practicing the skills when
we sparred, even though you didn't learn nearly the
skills I did. Bobb loved Mairra, loved to hang around
with Mairra when we were both wanted. Best friend of
Bobb's, and was sorely missed since she left.

Qirinor-I can't even remember how we became friends,
but I think it spawned from the fact I used to spar
a whole lot, and you were easy prey, except when you
used that lightning battleaxe. Anyways, you were Bobb's
best non-Mairra friend, always there to help, or, more
importantly, serve drinks.

FORTRESS - Bobb's days in the Fortress were the best
days of his life. So many trustworthy people, even after
I left, I still had friends in the Fortress. Thanks for
the good times...

OUTLANDERS - Never really hunted with any but Malkhar
and Crerigord, but the times I did were fun, getting
back at the Spire (and getting marked for it). Always
thought you were cowardly, though Bobb's not one to
talk. Fighting the spire's no easy work.

HERALDS - The Group I best fit in with, I don't know
if I ever talked to a Herald I didn't like. Sastine,
Withs, Qirinor, Graeterok, Verv, they were all fun to
hang around and talk with, even though they were no
fighters. (Soucivi, you may be an Avatar, but I'll
always think of you as the High Herald, Avatars don't
get beat in spars by Birds, even though that Backstab
hurt like hell.)

TRIBBIES - My last two chars were tribbies, but I never
realized just how hard they were to fight. Odrirg, if
you couldn't rot, I'd beat you in every fight we had.
Grurk, I couldn't beat you in a spar if you were already
dead, I never knew Heroes to die in four hits before...
All the other Tribbies, I never really fought any of you,
but I'm sure it would not have been easy. You had the
Outlanders so badly outnumbered, it seems I couldn't log
on without seeing four or five tribbies in my PK range...

I know I'm forgetting tons of people, if I forgot
you, just tell me about it...

There were a few things that made me delete, for anyone
interested in hearing them. First, when I became Neutral,
I never really understood WHY a threat against another
lightwalker would be cause enough to make someone go grey,
but I'm sure Vynmylak will enlighten me. Second, when
Bobb went neutral, he lost his specs. I had to learn sword
(Thanks to Mairra for the Help there) and I lost the whole
defensive spin and impale, and stun, and pummel, you start
to miss all those when you're stuck kicking mobs to kill
them. Thirdly, I must say that this Mairra deleting was a
big factor in MY deleting, suddenly the only person who
would sit with you in the woods when you're warranted (Even
though she was always warranted herself) is gone, it really
takes the fight out of you...

Well, I'd be lying if I said Bobb wasn't fun to play, he sure
had his moments, and I hope my next will be a bit better, more
able to PK at hero...

My initial impression of you was less than positive. I tried to help you kill a drow assassin (out of range) in the High Tower. You bashed, he disarmed, you bashed again, he got your weapon... and you proceeded to bash another 20 times without wielding anything. I was like, "Woah, newb!"

When they made me Captain, I decided I was going to coach you some (as per the Captain's duties) but never got too much of a chance. When you got kicked out of the Fort I thought, "Figures." When you told me you were going to be a Herald I though, "Weak." Then I saw you helping Malkhar (an evil) against Optkiwhoever (Justiciar) I gave serious consideration to kicking your ass. However I knew that that would have been walking the line of Maran Rightness, and since the Captain is supposed to do more than he would ask of others I decided to not attack a faltering lightwalker. When you accused me of helping the Justiciar kill you I was astounded. When you threatened me I was thinking, "You will never in a million years kill me. I'll disarm and watch you bash yourself to death."

When you apologized so profusely I decided it would be in bad form to hunt you down and kill you, so I just left it alone. I think your fall into neutrality had more to do with helping an evil and betraying the Fort than threatening me. My advice to you on your future characters is to make a role, and stick to it through thick and thin. It seemed to me like you were always trying to take the easy road, and the easy road never leads to Greatness.

Yeah, the first time I fought by you there, I had
to spam bash because I had something or another to
do, I came back and I was freaking out because I had
made myself look moronic in front of my Captain. It
wasn't a proud moment in my life.
As for the threats, it was because I fought Optom
because I was wanted, then he killed me because I
was manacled, etc., and as I was going to my corpse,
Malkhar saw you two on the same road or something and
told me that you were helping Optom, one of my enemies.
I got caught up in the moment, having just died and in
need of a way to vent anger, so I took it out on you.
Afterwards, I saw the mistake I had made, that's why I
apologized like I did, it was a very stupid thing to do.

Bob, I enjoyed the last minute spar, luckily I wasn't an avatar at that time. I had fun, but it seemed like you lost your focus even before you left Herald. Now, get back in there and bring another character. Luck.

He he.... not to many of the outlanders, and I never did know where to put you in the line of people I knew, as you might have noticed Crerigord was a loner, and being a shifter that is in constant movement, its hard to speak to. I did however like your zest to go at it even though you knew you most likely would die...

Luck with the next one.

By the time I started fighting with the Outlanders,
I had lost all direction, but it gave me something
to do, I still feel guilty not being of more use to
the outlanders during Bobb's life. Ah well, good
luck with your fight, you'll need it.

First, when I became Neutral,
I never really understood WHY a threat against another
lightwalker would be cause enough to make someone go grey,
but I'm sure Vynmylak will enlighten me.

I'm fairly certain it was I, not Vyn who made the decision to turn you neutral, contrary to rumors I am still around and still watching. That being said, Jaegrudai was pretty close in that aiding an evil was very much the reason for you going grey. Threatening a good, much less the Captain of the Maran with death right after was pretty much just icing on the cake. I don't expect all goods to be 'paladiny good'...but aiding an evil (as a fomer maran) was pretty much the death knell, then threatening one of the "goodest of the good" (since if you think about it in IC terms, Captain of the Maran is a pretty high acclaim in the realm of Lightwalkers) just pushed you so far over the line that action was required.

I expect goods to be goods, regardless of what class, race, cabal they're in. As such, I tend to make a point to enforce that. As Fortress kids are lightwalkers with a lightwalking goal I hold them to a slightly higher level (when it comes to being good and staying good)...however, any other cabal I also hold to certain standards of 'goodery'. That being said, lemme explain why threatening a fellow lightwalker is pretty much a bad thing. Only under extreme circumstances can a good kill another good, and even then I'd hope to see some remorse roleplayed about it. Threatening a fellow lightwalker (espicially as a former fortress kid) is a bad thing, in nearly every situation. You can disagree, you can growl at, you can glare about in frustration....but you can't threaten to kill. Once you do that, you've more or less stepped over the boundries of what is good. Threatening alone isn't going to get you booted to neutral, but it certainly is going to help your cause as a lightwalker. I keep trying to explain *why* it's wrong, and all I can come back to is 'it just is'. It's like trying to explain water without using the word 'wet' or 'liquid'.

So it was you? I always figured it to be Vyn, he
never really seemed to like me, and I never had
much of a problem with you. I wasn't so much trying
to aid Malkhar (being evil as he is) as much as I
was trying to give the scales to an Outlander, I
had taken them for that very purpose. And I didn't
aid him in taking the fetish even though I took
the scales with no more than about five seconds of
his help, he got beat up bad. And the insults, they
served as icing on the cake, but they truly were in
frustration. Well, at least now I know who did it.
And I probably did deserve to become Neutral, but
I've always wondered if you demand such goodness,
why would someone like Odrirg be allowed to walk in
and Rot me and Mairra in the Inn and get off scot-
free? I mean, at least in MY mind, helping an evil
person when you believe in their cause doesn't seem
as bad as Rotting quasi-innocent good people in the
relative safety of the Inn...

I'm not familiar with the ins and outs of the situation (and since at least one of the characters is still alive, probably best not to discuss it too much) but I will say that certain cabals have leeways in terms of what they can do in certain circumstances. Good ragers for example, are still required to kill good mages. Good tribunals are required to whack down good criminals. It's walking a line though, and it's a line that is watched. For anyone out there playing a role where they have to whack a fellow lightwalker here's a tip...ponder being remorseful after being forced into an ethical scylla and charybdis. If it fits your role, and done correctly, it'll add a lot to the believability of your character being good.

That wasn't a case of good vs evil, but one of Law vs Chaos. Both you and Mairra were known to be against Order and Odrirg was fighting against that Chaos. Odrirg was doing his duty, so good and evil was out of the window in this case. Good people kill goods all the time when it comes to being Duty Bound. Especially an orderly person will keep his duty. Also good people aren't perfect. They make mistakes like everyone else. Its how things turn out, how they go about it, and how they feel that determine if they are good or evil. For all you know Odrirg could have felt bad about killing two goodies, but he had to in order to protect the cities (full of innocents mind you). That's just part of my view on it.

I didn't have anything to do with the turning you neutral, but you're right, I wasn't impressed. You didn't seem to have the conviction for hunting down evil (despite boasts in the Inn) nor the skills to carry it out. I can live without one of the two, but not both. Still not a big deal. People learn and I never view uninductions as a "bad" thing as it can cause a character to reprioritize or modify/shape their role....

You however, went from the self-boasting warrior of the Light to seeking out the location of the Black Box from Scions in about 10 minutes time. I also happened to observe your interactions with a character who looted some of your gear -- unimpressive to say the least.

In the end, I simply ignored you because frankly the character had lost all sense of interest and potential in my opinion, which was far from the reasons I began to watch in the first place. In the future, I hope you decide to stick to your role a bit more solidly rather than what appeared like the pissed-off player shining through.

why you trashed talked Vynmylak to me that day just as i was quitting out. I thought you were a lightwalker so i didn't attack.(as lerrik)
had i known you had been booted from fort and gone neutral i likely would have, on the assumption you were just evil in the guise of neutrality couldn't see any other reason for you to trash talk vyn like that. anyway give it another go bet you learned alot.. use it for your next character.

Ha! Bobb, you were one of my favorite Heralds. I was probably one of the few people who understood your directionlessness, and I offer my kudos to you.

As far as no fighters in the Heralds, I would have thought that you would consider Graeterok as one. I tried to make him as nasty as possible in a fight, especially with mace/polearm spec. Heh. Charge set, switch weapons, boneshatter, backhand, backhand. While my pk ratio wasn't very high, most people took off running after that because everything in maces was perfected.

I haven't had very much time for CF lately, but I did manage to contact you as a new character. You helped her get a spear in the frozen wastelands. I was sad to see what had happened to you with the loss of specs and the switch to neutrality. Immortals are good, hard-working people, but I think they need to look deeper sometimes. Oh well.

Good luck with your new character. Maybe you'll see your way to contacting my new character, if you still remember who she is. Of course, I wouldn't want it to be obvious it was you though. Heh. Keep on truckin'.

Yeah, I think of all the Heralds, you were the
only one people'd give even money on against me,
but I can't help but remember how five minutes
after I was inducted, you and Verv were stuck in
Barovia or whatever and were having MAJOR problems,
but I killed everything that was chasing you with
damn near no problems. I must say, though, that
the Mountain was more of a fighter than I gave
credit for.

Heh. The two paladins (one with a warhammer) and the transmuter ALWAYS gave trouble to Graeterok, for some reason. Even when I had the polearm spec. However, I never really liked to take blows. I could fight like the ####ens one on one versus another player, but when it came to mobs, I always fell short.

I was upset when you flew up to hero. I was hoping to reach that together with you, but when you got there first, I didn't want to take up all your time. Heh. If you had better legacies, I think you would have beat me by a higher margin in spars. It was a blast though. You'd impale me, I'd break your bones... a good time was had by all. By the way, make your next character a svirf. They're a load of fun, and the roleplaying possibilities are greater in my opinion.

By the way, were you one of the ones there for the drunken poetry night myself and a few others had? Its hazy, but myself and three others sat at the bar getting wasted and did a line of poetry at a time. I think you were there, but I'm not completely sure. Ring a bell?

It was you, Bobbobimb, Joyceleyn, and I as I recall. But then Bobbobimb had to run off for some Fortress business and the poem was never finished. As I remember, it was about Njaal (poor guy was the source of many jokes) declairing war on the Inn, and was going to end with Bobbobimb shoving a spear through his face.

Yeah, we did finish it, and as I recall, that was
when I had to go fight Ilivarra, right before I was
kicked out of the Fortress, I could be wrong. In
either case, the "being drunk" aspect of it couldn't
have helped Vyn's opinion of Bobb. I wish that just
once I could have stuck a spear through Njaal, but
I fought him I think twice, and Died too quickly both

Never had the chance to interact with you much until one day I noticed you were not one of us anymore. When you spoke to me after that you seemed quite bitter and lost IC (probably OOC too, heh), so I tried to do what I could to cheer you up a bit I appreciated the fact that you put your trust in me for helping you, that's what my char is about. Like others said I think the main problem with Bobb was the lack of focus and dedication to a cause, but you were a good chap and an honest friend Add more focus to your next char, think of a role (no need to write it), adapt and refine your role as your grow up, and you'll get much more recognition.

Farewell and good luck with your next!

I actually had no intention of seeking out your Battlefield thread... but that was Withsworry talking, not me. And since Withsworry's gone now, I guess I get to do the talking and say thusly:

I liked Bobbobimb. iIt seems like once you start a timeline in CF its hard to start over again in a different direction, but you proved with Bobbobimb that it can be done, even if people start disliking you after a time. We Heralds were very resentful of your departure(Withsworry, when asked how expensive Arvam's talons were for his drink "Arvam's Talons", began claiming that he actually saved money by using Bobbobimb's talons), and Sastine added a new oath to the Herald induction: "Do you swear to never leave your Heralds until the day that you die?" All thanks to you pally, the Heralds induction oath has changed forever.
Anyway. Well played, hope to see another character by you soon. Just so long as when you come back you leave your PKing abilities to rot in hell.
