#24857, "(DEL) [SCION] Kazadan Del'Khurr the High Wizard of the ..."

Figure I'll start the post now while the character is fresh, probably
going to donate and get the premium battlefield action as well when I
figure out how to use paypal and why my credit card ain't working.

Anyways, first Transmuter, first neo-Scion if you can call it that.
Overall, the Scion cabal is pretty awesome, the powers fit a
Transmuter to a T, and are very fitting for its purpose as someone had
mentioned before me. My PK ratio if I had to guess is probably about
sixty percent. Died a ton before I realized Transmuters shouldn't be
fighting Berserker Villager Mace specs named Kackrik one on one,
though I can't give him all the credit. Near the end I picked up on
all the cool parts of being a Transmuter. I loved the class, whoever
said you're basically a magical assassin is dead on in how you play
them. They can kill just about anyone pretty easily one on one, but
its very difficult to go against pairs and trios.

Another thing on Scion powers, I absolutely loved the part that you
have to learn the intricacies of them in order to be effective with
them (with the exception of Nightwalkers, which are straightforward).
I had a fun time learning about stuff regarding Scions.

Deleted because of real life, also I have somewhat of a gripe, though
I'd like it to be taken as completely constructive criticism, because
overall I believe the Imms do an excellent job here. I'm going to make
a separate post under this thread about that. Now for my goodbyes:

SCION
Imms First
Beroxxus: You come up with some real neat echoes, both as Kazadan and
the beginning part of my old Rager Assassin Ayuzen. Really, really
adds to the dreadfulness and scariness of evil things. You didn't seem
like 'asshole evil' at all, which was cool, though there's a time and
a place for both types, asshole and ooky spooky.
Archmage: I can already assume who you were, since Beroxxus said he
was gone for January and Mekantos wasn't a high enough imm to speak
with the Archmage. Thanks for the learning session, I wanted to play
an inquisitive evil sorcerer, and it helped.
Mekantos: You fall under the 'asshole evil' category. A kind word
never escapes your lips, and compliments are somewhat dulled. I
completely understand wanting to keep the Chasm from seeming like
a clubhouse of harry potter wizards, as I did too, and occasionally
I accidentally slipped into that category by being too helpful, but
hey, certain classes are at their prime when they work together
with others (ie. Transmuters, Healers, Bards), so in a way its a
necessity. Anyways, thanks for making the atmosphere of the Chasm a
little more unfriendly, even if you're basically just talking trash
or being overly critical. I'm gonna write something on the evilness
aspect of things in my 'constructive criticism'ish post.
Ilivarra - You were fun to be around, extremely effective in defending
and killing massive amounts of people. I liked how you discouraged the
being too nice to one another thing, sorta Mekantos style, but your
giggling kills it sometimes. Good luck, anyways.
Kwalin - Damn you're a tough one, even if all that means is c 'geyser'
spamming. All that protections stuff makes you buff. You're like the
Aiekosoo of the Chasm, though better, because you're a Scion and not
an Imperial.
Etarekoth - Didn't see you too much near the end, but thanks for
inducting me. Hope I did a decent job. Taught me a bit about Kteng's
in the beginning. You stuck it out real well like the above two.
Gahlerikath - When I first saw you I didn't think you were going to
be that good, but I was wrong. Sorry to see you go, but I suppose the
people never wanting to fight you one on one to be axe-chow gets to
be a pain, but you can kinda understand their side too, right?
Feldabs - Why did you delete? You were doing so damn good to begin
with. Thought a thief/transmuter Scion team would have done awesome,
especially considering the PK range of nearly 80% fortress at the
time.
Pre-hero Scions - I'll forget a ton of you, probably forgetting a few
heroes too, respond and I'll reply.

EMPIRE
Treslith - Yeah, I was a Scion the whole time we learned together. I
lied. My character was like that, would lie, steal, cheat, and
whatever to get what he wants. Wish I could show it off more, but I
did when it would actually help me and not just make me burn bridges.
Kardok - You were scary, hands down. Kazadan wanted to see a war with
the Empire just because his RP was liking to instigate violence, but
damn if you didn't give me second thoughts about that.
Njaal/Nelia/Tufudler - Wasn't that hilarious? I was a Scion, I lied
about it, and none of you knew it. I helped you raid. Rusken tries to
kill me and you defend me from him and kill him. The whole time Rusken
is trying to tell you I'm a Scion, and then you all get demoted like hell by the Empire Imms for defending me. The only thing that sucks is that you can only do that once before -everyone- knows. I'd seriously be killing Marans with you, saying I need to gather wands, go to the Village and get the Sceptre back, set a forsaken portal in galadon, head back to the group, step aside to despoil an item, then join you again. One of the better times as a Scion, I thought.

BATTLE
Kackrik: You were funny, and you were painful, after I died to you a
few times and realized it was futile to fight you, and most other
Village Berserker (esp. Warriors), then I stopped dying so much =).
Jormundgaard: You were my first kill, when I ambushed you, Kopiteous
and Muhryl at Aridhol. That was sweet, I loved that kill, though you
did nearly get me.
Vronwei: Like I said in your goodbye, you made me waste a lot of
wands, but it worked out for me in the end.

TRIBUNAL
Grurk: Thanks for the help, we sorta were on good terms with each
other though for one reason or another we'd fight here and there due
to whoever were with.
Odrirg: That one time I looted you I was standing with you and Grurk
duod near the Inn. Heard you were going to duel Selenia, so I decided
to jump in, but when I popped out you were already dead so I looted
you. Hard enough to get a Tribunal without his guards. Kazadan wanted
you dead badly, and would have looted you completely if he could.
Mino Trib Warrior: Yeah, you should type out 'cranial Kazadan'
completely, else you might accidentally cranial Kazath! Whoops, bit
too late for that suggestion =). Man was that funny. About the it ok
for me to kill you but not vice versa thing, that's my character's
RP. Sorta was a scoundrel when he had the opportunity to show it.
Daemar: You were waaaay too cordial to me for a Paladin. Thanks
though.

MARAN & FRIENDS:
Zentilsh/Gradaelus: Sorry, gotta pair you up since I rarely saw you
away from each other. Though, for Gradaelus, I can definitely
understand why fighting a Scion Transmuter is hell for you. I'm not
going to be like all those idiot Villagers that are mad when someone
without deathblow won't fight them one on one. Yeah, I have volley, I
have a nightwalker, makes your life difficult. Anyways, nice job. I
thought I got a great kill on you at the Hamsah Altar, but then you
and Zentilsh returned the favor. Notice I changed my hometown to
Arkham?
Fheynd/Corvus: Heh, sorry, but I have to pair the people who I always
saw together =). I did catch you both apart a little more than the
above two though. Fheynd, nice kill on me in Barovian Keep, thought
I was going to have you easily there. Also nice Fort kill too that I
saw on the log board. My lightningshield dropped just when you
attacked me. Bummer cause one of Jaella's axes were electric disch.
Vorondel: Tough cookie. Volley and having a high wimpy makes it hard
for you to kill me, though =) Must suck. Yeah, Scion powers rock for
a Tranny. I never had a real nice set until I killed you and got your
good stuff =).
Lerrik: Yeah, you're unlucky, was tipped off by Treslith about your
location and said 'wooohooo, free kill'. Spear specs are the easiest
for a Tranny to kill.
I know I'm missing some Fortressers, gimme a reply if I do.

Was fun,
Kazadan, aka. Kravidian/Ayuzen/Vaustrien/Ktavialt/Kuhkliva

From your goodbyes it seemed like you were pretty neat. Fought you a few times, never got you, and I don't think you got me. With myself in Camouflage and you in Duo, there was no way we'd have ever talked, I'm sure. A pity, perhaps we might have had good interaction.

Every time I fought you I was like 'dang how is he hurting me so
goddamn much through my protections?'. For some reason you were just
extremely painful, and for a Ranger at that, fought lots of Rangers and you were the toughest by far.

Anyways, you did land a kill on me, when me and Ilivarra tried to jump you and two others, Fheynd and a Paladin I think, Alvariohn
maybe? Ah well. Was in the mists of Barovia.

I remember a different time when you snared me in front of the
place that was formerly camelot, and a Paladin came around to help.
I got outta that within an inch of my life. Almost had me then.

Kazadan had you on his #1 'I want you dead' list. Never got you
though.

I know when you were logged on, that there would always be some meat to pound on . You always impressed me with your skills in the transmuter class, you knew when to fight and you knew when to run - something I can respect as a player and as Kackrik. That time when it was me vs you + etarekoth and you kept wording Etarekoth, I got so angry I went out of my way to hunt you for a few hours. You evaded me and either logged off, but either way you just avoided me. Transmuters aren't really up for fighting B warriors but anyone who tries, I give credit to. So, hats off to you and see you on your next.

Well, we didn't get to interact much, mostly because of different
play times, since Drokk has been in the hero range for weeks,
but I liked the last time in the chasm shortly before you deleted.
Very interesting.

I agree with most of your views on evil. I think a main reason for
not 'being evil enough' is lack of confidence. I, at least sometimes
(well, just _sometimes_) am reluctant to piss off others, because
they seem to know a lot more than I do, and I would like some of their knowledge/help.

First off, thank you, and I want to say that I thought you did well
in the cabal.

In case you or anyone else hasn't realized it yet, Mekantos is a
bastard. I don't play him that way because it gives me goose-bumps to
torment people in an online game. I don't play him that way because
that is how I, the player, am. I play him that way to make him
believable, and to fill a niche in the CarrionFields environment. I
don't get to interact with mortal Scions on a large scale, and almost
never face-to-face, but there have been a number of times where I
have made appearances in which I did nothing more than interact in a
helpful, albeit cruel, fashion. If you don't like the way I present
the character there is not much I can do about it. And also, 99% of
the time when I am bad-mouthing over the cb you should consider it a
good thing, because you are still in the cabal, which means that I am
just playing part and bringing everyone down .

The part about me being overly critical has to do with my attempt to
keep each member of the cabal potent. As the Gunny Sergeant on Mail-Call
once said, "The more you hate me, the more you'll learn!"

-Mekantos-

P.S. If I mistakenly took your post as volatile, I apologize. I just
now realized that it might have all been a weird kind of compliment.

Yeah, it was a weird kind of compliment. Something unsettles
my stomach when I am in an evil cabal and everyone's more
friendly than a bunch of christians on a prayer retreat.
Your addition (when you give it, here and there) to the
atmosphere of the cabal I think is necessary, despite my
gripe about how masochistic being evil can be. =)

Don't worry about it. Every time I die, I expect a full loot, that way I often get a pleasant surprise.

The only reason I made even the slightest thing about it, was that deep down in the bottom of one of my containers was a small useless item that I had had just about since roll-up. I had gotten irrationally attached to it and to lose it to someone who I didn't even know was there kinda tugged at me. You probably did me a favor in the long run taking it.

You are right about me falling too fast there, boy was that a train wreck of 2 failed attempts at one sup, and 4 more failed attempts at blinding, and other horrid decisions by me all 'round. It's too bad you have to go, I was kindof looking forward to having someone I couldn't see willing to jump me whenever I wasn't ready for it....would have kept me on my toes.

And ooc, I DO know how harsh that death was when you were manacled like that. But I had to do my job.

Please take this as completely constructive criticism. I had a fun
time as Kazadan, IMMS do a real good job, but I have to say I'm
curious as to why certain avenues haven't been pursued to the
extent that they can be. Either way, this is still easily the best
mud I've ever played, but I'd like to give ya'll my viewpoint.

Like I said in my goodbyes, I wanted to mention stuff which I think
could be looked at. Half the reason I deleted was because I got a few
more things on my plate real-life wise, the other half is because
sometimes RPing an evil character seems like 'Oooohhh lets put on some
paper masks and pretend to be eeeeevil!!' In general, to be a true
evil, you basically have to be a masochist, because you're basically
burning your bridges by pissing everybody else off, so you lose their
help and spells/communes, or maybe you backstab them and kill them
for a few real nice pieces of gear (that you can lose in a heartbeat
if someone gangs you, then you're naked and with one extra person who
hates you). And though I did do it once or twice as Kazadan just to
keep my cruel-o-meter at least at an average point, it tends to get me
nowhere.

That said, consider the idea of Scion. Awesome idea, I love the now
RP-wise correct and effective spells they get, and they're about
searching for forbidden magics and other stuff too which I suppose
I won't mention here. But in a way it's like why stop there? I mean,
I notice the immortals are discouraging early deletion, which is good,
but part of the reason people delete is because they're doing the
same ole thing. You're evil? Kill Maran, take Orb, defend from Maran,
regain Sceptre, then do all over again. You're a Maran? Kill Empire,
kill Scion, take Codex, take Sceptre, wait for evils to get bored and
delete (give us a little time, we will), then you're stuck waiting
in the Inn for the next OOC month until the next set of evils rank
up, if they ever do.

What I'm getting at is that 1) boredom sets in, and 2) you're somewhat
limited in reaching whatever your character's goal is. An example of
something that you all just implemented that somewhat addresses this
is the new cabal skill vandalism. Outlanders are about bringing down
civilization, and being able to close down shops so people feel the
effects of a 'brought down' civilization is pretty cool. Perhaps the
longer the scales of justice are in the hands of other cabal's the
less guards repop each day? That would also be a neat thing which
reflects the lack of power of the Tribunal.

In the same fashion, Scion should be more into ritualistic magic that
creates greater effects on the land, here's an example of some sort
of scenario:
1) You're a Scion, searching through an area explore such as, I dunno
the fifth level of hell? A devil offers you a proposition saying that
he can damper the abilities of the light if you are able to give him
the following: 1) the siphoned soul of the most virtuous holy warrior,
(ie. A Maran Paladin) 2) and a flesh sacrifice of a trusted ally. So,
you go about and eventually kill a Paladin, and using some sort of
flask you siphon part of the Paladins soul, meanwhile you convince
some Mercenary of Talia =) to travel to hell with you, where you
tell your friend to wait in a pentogram chamber that you say must
contain some powerful artifacts, so he searches for them. Meanwhile
you go to a podium and recite a mantra that causes your friend to be
sacrificed =). The effect of this, being, the devil uses the siphoned
soul and the torment of your now-backstabbed friend to cause all
Paladins to require double the mana cost to use any of their communes.
The backstabbed friend may probably have his charisma lowered by
several points, and of course takes a death. But, all in all, he did
decide to trust a Scion, right? You may say harsh, but damn, that IS
evil. And that does give people a GOOD reason to hate scions. You
never know if they're going to sell you out for some greater cause.

Obviously, there should be signs to show that this was coming,
probably in a dream for some PC Paladin or other Maran. This would do
a few cool things: You're able to do more evil things than kill the people who want to kill you and take the opposing cabal item; You're
able to actually make people want to stop you; You're getting
something great outta your backstabbing; and you're giving Maran a
better purpose.

Likewise, empire should be able to do things to expand their power,
that could replace guards with centurions (not of the same power and
abilities of course, but at least auto-assists imperials). Battle can
venture into magical towers to try to cut off or strain sources of
magic. Empire could do something that could turn an entire forest to
ash indefinitely, and so on and so forth.

I mean, as Kaavraus, the Nexus Invoker of some time ago, when we did
the whole hell trip where Scarabaeus sent two teams in and whichever
team survived killed the other gets to go in. That was awesome. More
opportunities to realllly be evil should be available.

Here's my forty-six cents, and as I said, its just a suggestion,
and these sort of things can be fairly easy to implement and would
cut the boredom/deletion rate,
Kazadan

A ability to allow players to affect the terrian of the game is a cool idea.

Empire destorying forests and constructing. Outlanders buring cities. Scions bringing darkness. Marans bringing light. Maybe have each spread from the cabal HQ's.

Firstly, about Kazadan:

Our times didn't seem to overlap very much, but from what I saw
you did a good job. You seemed a bit bloodthirsty for a mage, but
theres nothing wrong with that Now, onto this post..

Awesome idea, I love the now
RP-wise correct and effective spells they get, and they're about
searching for forbidden magics and other stuff too which I suppose
I won't mention here. But in a way it's like why stop there? I mean,

regain Sceptre, then do all over again.

There are other things going on within Scion. Whether you are included is largely at my discretion, and that of the immortals. I didn't include you because I didn't think you would be helpful - remember when I showed you Ktengs, and you never figured out any more of it? I never questioned your ability as a pk'er, but as an explorer/thinker...

Oh, and you didn't even have 200 hours on the character, yet you were bored with raiding/retrieving? Heh, try 500+. I suggest you do what I do, when your tired of that #### just go and isolate yourself from the rest of the mud by trying to figure out some explore area you've never been in. After about about one or two weeks you will get tired of said area, then you'll go back to the cabal wars. Rinse, repeat. Everyone needs a break from capture the flag every now and then.

Later man,
Etarekoth.

Yeah, you're absolutely right. I'm sure theres more than what I
already saw, but I believe it should be a little more common than it
is. I mean, something where you would "know" that there are effects
of the actions you do. From my point of view, I would like something
that would make people go "Oh ####, if those Scions succeed in
summoning that demon, causing plagues to infest all the food in
Galadon, or causing random forest creatures to be possessed and
attack the light." then I would be more into it.

Otherwise, yeah, I feel you on that. You gave me the bait and I
really didn't bite. I mean, the boons (or maladies to others) that
the stuff in Kteng's may grant didn't appear to be something that
would really lend to the 'Scions great and awesome ability to search
for forbidden magic'.

Either way, I did like your character either way, and I hope I
didn't disappoint you too much,

- Kazadan

kaz rocked as an evil fella though.
I remember getting out of some scrape near the chasm, and didn't wan't to use the recall potion, was headed to see if i could get out on the other side and hide over the ocean somewhere... rest up etc..
all beat up, thinking okay gonna make it... then blam you were there. that was a nifty one. never expected ya to be in the town.

Yeah, but on the other hand, I remember the time when in Galadon
we had me neuro'ing you, Gahlerikath bashing you, and another
(I think Ilivarra) attacking you, but you managed to get away
without being too hurt. You had your lucky parts too.

Luck with the next,
Kazadan

Instead of 'deathful' my characters are 'deathee'
but once in a while there are moments where somehow
I pull off something that should be impossible given the
circumstances. Those moments I am sure are 90% luck and 10%
well there is just a feeling, something pops into my head
and everything gels into a whole and i just 'know' what to do
even if it shouldn't work.
My personal favorite which sadly I do not have a log of, was after getting stomped by viv and laes i think it was.. I wait by the vanquisher to unghost. viv told me i had better leave (which ooc i rather thought was nice, it was intimidating sounding so in character and at the same time helpful ooc advice, well done viv if you read these) they couldn't have been more prepared for me.
The villagers were getting ready to go for the head, told em maybe i should go no cents in the way and i was about to unghost (not sure of what words i used) I had like 3 or pieces of gear total, no spear .. etc.. and whatever 'it' is that gives me these moments said i could make it out alive. so i told the villager fella i was striking. And yup made it out alive. didn't kill the vanquisher or anything it was strictly to rile them up some. then to run like an orc chased by everyone in the fort.
but those are 'dimion' moments. die 50 times pull off one wicked cool stunt. die more.. etc...

You seemed cool enough, though we never really got to talk. The transmuter class doesn't really lend itself to chatting. Guess I should give you props for fighting alone. Though, to be honest, doing so couldn't have been very risky for you. (Nothing says you have to take risks.)

That time at the chasm...you and Ilivarra were so robbed. I'm sure I accrued some karmic debt for that escape that I'll have to pay back soon enough.

Everybody complains about Elf Paladins being useless, but you
were by far the hardest Paladin to kill (because obviously I
didn't get to). The Amaylthar blade doesn't help, but still, ouch,
you were tough.

I took risks because I was bloodthirsty, but I was in absolutely
no way honorable and would take you down with a group of six if
it suited me. Yeah, that thing in the Chasm was waaaay lucky for
you.

Sorry for forgetting you. Yeah it was fun trying to kill Ragers
with you, sucked to see you eat those flurries. You seemed to do
real well with cutting most of em down.
