#17889, "Raccidos: Death of a Throwaway Character"
|
Well, Raccidos was my first character back after a 1+ year hiatus. Rolled him to find out what the new thieves were all about. Unfortunately, my head didn't exactly explode AFTER I found out they are pretty much watered down versions of the old thieves--at least the variety I chose to play. Died three times to pks, lastly to Vorcalnon. After the heroing I pretty much realized Raccidos had served his purpose to reintroduce me to the game, and I promised myself the next time I died, it was delete time. It helped to die a stupid death and lose a stupdenous set. Spammed west one too many times, got caught in a quicksand, and smacked by Vorc...ah well. To the two characters of note I interacted with.
Imms: I'll give you credit for sticking to the deal we struck back in 1996--you leave me alone aside from occasionally snooping me for multicharing (pretty funny when I was stashing my inventory on mobs when I was about to fight a thief, and return to find 'An Immortal' making sarcastic comments about cheating), and I'll never try for more than a few sentences of immteraction. One of these days I'll have to break our deal.
Moligant: You got some rage issues buddy. I have (had) no problem with you OOC, and really didn't mean to rile your feathers with that note posting. Take it easy--people who are your enemies IC don't necessarily want to burn your house OOC.
Navarro: You're headed places pal. Unfortunately I didn't have the motivation to stick around and find where those places are. I can only think of a few thieves that know what they're doing right now, and you're definitely the top of the heap.
To the rest of you...well, um, keep it up. Oh, and Chasillia, quaff a fly potion once and a while, huh?

Hey bub--
I never hated you. I liked having you about and was kind of disappointed when I outranked you. I'll see you around though. Drop me an email if you feel like it.

That's the problem when you have cash coming out your ears, no cabal, and no reason to log on because you have almost everthing you want--you have to start making fun for yourself. It was fun giving you marks just on a whim to see how fast you could assassinate them. I also started stealing people's nice weaps and trying to get them to fight other people to get them back, but that's a different story =P

...and seemed to know what you were doing which was a refreshing change. Thanks for having the balls to go rank when there were ragers everywhere and most were to scared to. I still think you should have continued, the open endedness of your character would have allowed you to do a number of things. Oh well. Have fun with the next.

I really didn't see you around too much, and unlike Enbuergo, Raccidos wasn't an especially greedy thief. I usually would steal anything good I saw in folks' inventories, but 80% of the time would just give it back. And contrary to popular opinion, I was neither in Empire nor evil.

I dont think I have rage issues, im just easily annoyed and very vocal.
As for the posting, what is amusing to you ooc is not to me.
Ever think maybe the fact that was sent to thieves IC and not sent to a bard IC to post to all was a part of my RP? The thieves guild going after a rogue thief has plenty of RP potential that is ruined when anyone on Dio's now knows about it.
Scenario:
Enemy of Moligant wants Moligant dead.
Sees OOC posting about how Raccidos and Moligant dislike each other.
Somehow Enemy contacts Raccidos IC and now some enemy of Moligant now has someone he can count on to be an ally who can see him in the shadows, something Mligant hates. Basically I saw that post as a slick way of letting people know that you and me were beefing.
Basically I disapprove alot of OOC postings, I dont do them.
Im also a hypocrite becuase I read them and have used info in them, i cant help it, once knowledge is in my head i cant just not use it.
At any rate, I was probably harsher than I should have been.
So Ill apologize for being harsh.
But I stil dont like what you did even if you thought it was funny.

Ive managed nearly 500 hours with few deaths, but since that posting I've been hunted and slain by people who have never bothered me, and have little IC reasons to go after me.
Im not paranoid, but I wouldnt be suprised if the post was the reason why.
Goes to show you how OOC things can mess up your IC experience.

I know what you're saying, bro. But the OOC affecting IC actions can be said for almost any log that shows anything. I personally don't have a problem with any kind of log, but one of the reasons I posted that log instead of the logs where we fought was because I thought it was more PG and you would be cool with it.
Peace in the middle east.
