My parting words at your farewell summed up what I felt about you. I believe you played the role well, and saw deeper that a Maran isn't only about kill kill kill. Even so, you were very zealous, and that is how it came across. Zeal, not bloodthirsty. I hope I see you in the cabal again, we need people of your mettle.

Thanks. I enjoyed interacting with you too. The fortress always had a special place in Sabiene's heart (being of the Kara Chal and all) and she tried to help them out and watch over them whenever she could, while still remaining true to the way of the village. I think you did play a good Maran, near as I could tell. It took big boulder-sized nuts to attack Azuranda like that, too. You fear evil? Nooo...

You were the only other warrior I saw around with any frequency, I hardly ever saw Erenthell or Gorthalon or the others, so you were my only role model. We differ on several things, but none of that mattered nearly so much as where we were the same, and where Aemelius saw you as fine example of the Fortress, which is in your willingness to do the job even at high self sacrifice. Some may find fault in your tactics, but none in your heart, and to me that's the more important because tactics can be learned. Spirit is something you have or don't have. In my opinion.

Sorry I wasn't there for the end. I knew I'd set a high bar for your CON quest, but I was hoping you'd be able to pull it off.

Fahnrore was definitely one of the favorite followers that I've had. You exhibited one of the traits that I truly admire in roleplaying, which is evolving your character's philosophy as time continues -- being able to grow as a character, rather than being the same character from creation to finish or go through drastic changes (unsupported by a role stance).

As I think you discovered, my perspective on the balance between Honor, Rage and War is quite different than what many equate to as an "Honor" god. I appreciated the way you took what was dealt to you, and continued working to prove yourself, rather than simplying saying: I lost a tat, I got demoted. Time to delete;delete and start fresh. That, to me, was probably one of the major reasons I spent the time with you that I did. I view those as opportunities for RP, and have been disappointed in the past with folks who don't take advantage of these situations. Thanks for taking the challenge!

I started to life when I heard that. The growth of Honor was really something that happen in RL. Just like in my role, it just sorta hit me out of nowhere. It would've been alot harder following you if you didn't talk to me as much. Every little chat that we had kept me going. I really wanted to get that title that you said you'd hand to me. I hope that by the end, you felt that I was worthy enough of such a thing.

Oh and a sidenote, why did you change your speech? Were you getting too many confused looks or something? I noticed that alot towards the beginning.

There were a few reasons for the speech change:

1. Was working on far of a less accented speech as I continued to "age and grow" in Asgaard, being around individuals who enunciated better. (Don't count Thror in that -- Ol' Stumpy is way to set in his ways).

2. Less confusion for mortals -- As my playtimes hit a lot of different player regions, there were times of deep confusion in interacting with folks. Expectation setting sometimes didn't work with a thick accent.

3. The new giant helpfiles that covered areas of speech. This came along at right around the same time, and figured I could help support that change if I didn't have the accent.

4. Epiphany of tattoo-worthiness. While before I had based it on the accent of the applicant, further enlightenment made me realise that it would be *all-around roleplay* that should merit the tat.

Forgot me too, although at the end we did grow distant. I never had a problem with you really until we were going after Sakard and Asin in the Sunken Ship and I told you to wait up and you went rushing in a got me killed with a quickness before I could even prep, you have no clue how much that pissed me off, the whole time I was thinking how the hell did he get to live through this. Was the only problem I had was that you never seemed to think before you acted. I can understand that for a warrior but when you are hunting with someone else perhaps you should take them into consideration. Oh well. Heh, you didn't say anything about preparing. Plus you should've been prepared anyhow...Sakard and Asin could've come up anytime. I did feel bad, but still it happens. If you were that mad, you're taking either dying or equipment way too seriously. Chill. Anywho, Fahnrore always felt that you were one of those that were too concerned with armor. And the last incident that happened definitely supports his sentiments. Oh and what you were saying wouldn't happen did happen cause Gwythinniel died eventually to the skill I was saying could be used. So your whole reasoning was totally messed up and you got what you wanted, your eq. I wouldn't be surprised if this post gets removed. But hey, I'm not speaking of any lies here. All truths.

I hated hearing you occasionally mention over the cabal channel how your life would be coming to an end soon if you kept falling in battle. Getting to know you in the Fortress was fun and Sylvrin loved you, you big old giant. I suspect Fahnrore had a bit of a soft spot for her too. Thanks for the encouragement you gave Sylvrin. There were many times when she really needed it. I was always glad to hear the Watcher welcome you. I knew that meant that those nasty Imperials (who like to pick on Sylvrin for some odd reason )would for sure be having someone hunt them down.

I really loved the way you talked too, it wasn't hard to understand and seemed to suit Fahnrore very well.

Now either come back to the Fortress or roll up a Sylvan ally. There are lots of Imperials on the rise, from what I hear, and the goodies and sylvans will need your help. Whatever you decide to do though, have fun with it.

Well, I knew that I was going to pass on last night. And I thought it was fitting dying in an honorable battle with a foe that I've fought the most. Sorta romantic if you think about it. Nah. Don't feel bad. I did it to myself. I could've done something else and let the other squires handle it. But I felt that it was a good time to go with so many Fortress members around. Yeah, I really wanted to you and the other Imperials dead, not only cause you were pain for me, but also you were apart of my Con quest which I ironically failed. Definitely a well-played shaman. Just try to fight on your own sometime, and you'll surprise yourself. *Wink*

It's always good to have marans that we squires can look up to. Also it was a lot of fun to fly down, report in with scouting news, and see you come barreling in a few seconds later. Corealis had a lot of respect for you, though he tended to disregard the whole honor thing, but swooping in to assist you even if you asked him not to. If you hadn't done that last duel in city hall, I would have been flying in to peck the shaman. Fearless warrior, well done.

From what I saw, you did a very good job. Once you can get over that little hump of getting angry when you die and lose gear, you can start really enjoying the game, and that is when you make the best characters. Now come back and do it again!

Yeah. I totally got over that hump. I had no regard for armor with this character. I think I got a nice set of eq maybe once and that only lasted a day or so before that hoard got me. The basis for creating this character was from what I remembered of Johan, you remember him? Maybe you were him, either way, he was a kick-ass Maran. I remember his going through enemies like cutting butter. So I tried to emulate that. Of course, I was no Johan, but I tried. Ulthur definitely had some influence on this character too. I read some of your posts and you said that honor changed throughout your life. I took that into account when I was rolling him up. So I should thank you for really solidifing my honor beliefs! Anywho, yeah, I'm coming back. Sooner than you think. *Wink*

No, I wasn't Johan, but I was around with him for a while, and I do remember what a beast he could be. I'm glad you got some of the honor influence from Ulthur... it's always been one of my favorite roleplay aspects. If you haven't read the log I posted on Shokai's forum from our talk in the Knight's Castle, you should.

The best explanation I've ever heard for Honor was from a Knight applicant that I was interviewing, back when Delyn was one of the leaders of Knights. He said "Honor is what you have left when you're alone sitting naked in your guild." A funny explanation, but oddly truthful as well.

Yeah. I remember the old way, you know Knights of Thera and the Ehren Guard, of honor. I just saw it as way to ridged and shifted so it would be more suitable to the Maran way. I thought it worked well. Apparently Thornarcrull didn't think so, but what does he know since he really only came after me when I was outnumbered. Yeah. I really tried being in the front lines cause that's what I felt I was supposed to do. I liked your character alot.

Man, I was really hoping you would do the last deed for me when you were dealing with Sylvrin. That would've been cool. But ehh, where you the one that kept on sending me plague? That scared the sh*t out of me the first time that happened. I was worried that it was going to happen all the time like during battles. I was thinking to myself, "plague for 53 hours...everyday?"

That thing that happened to us in the Fortress with Beroxxus was ummm very interesting to say the least and really very fun. It took me a while to figure out what it was I had done that was upsetting him so much, but I finally got it. I loved the way you talked back to him and came to Sylvrin's defense, in true Maran style telling The Dark God to back off and leave her alone.

The coolest Imm interaction I've ever seen, and I think Eluna agrees too, was when Onglaurst attacked me and then proceeded to fight Eluna. I killed Gramukzul infront of him, didn't even know he was there and he got pissed at me. By far the coolest thing I've ever seen. Never actually got to fight an Imm before. And Eluna was doing pretty good too. That how she got her title. *Wink*

Anyways, with another character of mine, I didn't like you all that much, but with Gwyythinniel .. well, it seemed you changed, sort of grew.. in your character .. Good show for a first hero Maran, although I did get the feeling that you felt a bit like 'I'm a Maran so I'm better than you squires' (theoretically you 'are' better, as in, you're considered ready for the 'greater burden', if you get my meaning) .. might just be an idea, but it kinda struck me that you always 'ordered' and not 'asked' if you know what I mean.. to me a Maran should be a kind of 'guide', someone that leads with firm hand, but someone who is a teacher and 'explainer', rather than someone who just gives orders to do this and that .. No offense at all of course, just my thoughts (might be because we didn't have all that much talk).. I still found you did a great job, and you were worth the title of Maran ..

Heh, yeah. I realized I forgot you. You were a very competant bard. Yeah. I kinda figured out who you were. You felt very familiar. At times, I did try to order you guys around cause there is a serious problem organization at times which I think Ulthur dealt with well from what small interaction I had with my last character. I sorta wanted to shape that back into the Fortress. As for being a guide, I actually was a guide for several of the squires. Take Karun for example, we had alot of talks. Even though, he wouldn't agree with me, I know that he left the conversation with a little more to his belt. I did do alot of explaining and stuff. I don't think you were around during those times. You came into the Fortress when I was on a decline, meaning I was dying as much as I did when I first became a Maran.

Wow I feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

It is really too bad you werent sphere destruction because you often epitomized it, whether it be yourself or your enemies. I often felt like a mother chasing you down reminding you take your jacket (Sanctuary) with you when you went out into the cold (combat), but you were extremely gung ho and I had the worst time ever trying to catch up with you.

We had more arguments than I can even begin to count and on more than one occasion I wanted to somehow reach through my computer screen and strangle the living daylights out of you. I realized at the end that you were ready to die and you wanted to go down swinging so I just kind of turned my head and let you do your thing. I was really really happy that you did not let gear get in the way of what you did. Slap on a few axes grab a few random things before you unghosted and then jump back in the fray in hopes of bringing someone down. Furthermore, even though you were the one who probably needed my protections the most you never hounded me for it. If I happened to be around you gratefully took whatever I offered but if I was not it would not change your modus operandi in the slightest.

I will admit I was somewhat confused with some of your tactics at times. I noticed early on that you picked Greeting the Avalanche as one of your legacies. I think you may have won a lot more fights if you had started with a bash instead of starting with a pincer. It seemed like a lot of your enemies fled from you after their two round pincer lag. I had always thought that if you started with bash and then finished them off with pincer you might have racked up a few more kills.

But I digress. Our relationship went from loathin to sweet loving which was nice...and it only took us about 200 hours.
And I dont know if your memory is as good as mine but do you remember our first argument?

I do. It was while we were both lowbies trying to get into the fortress and we were arguing in front of Siorgriend about what a maran was. THAT is how far back we went.

I really liked your character, he was very close to what I imagine a maran to be. Not affraid of death, would charge into battle if only to take out one of them...and so on... As you would come to the grove to aid, I would come to the fortress to fight them imperials. At the times I could not come, and a moment later I detected your corpse before the fortress, or in the halls, that made me feel really bad.

Yeah. I'm really considering making a Sylvan. Back in the day, when Arkand was around, I tried to make a Sylvan and it was really difficult cause 1) I could never find Arkand and 2) I could never find Sebeok. Different playing times definitely attributed to this. After that I never tried. I'm seriously thinking about it. Especially with the Empire rising. It should be fun.

I would hear at least 15-20 times over cabal channel a day. "don't help me in this battle friends" from Fahnrore. He would leave groups chasing evils because the numbers weren't even. He'd even offer an open challenge a lot of times to foes before it began. So anyway I'm not trying to start a flame war, but I think you are completely wrong about his honor.

There is no need to argue with thornarcrull. he is the greatest nonganging pker in the world. He just expects everyone else to follow suit. Since he never gangs and he never walks around with ganking squads, he assumes everyone else doesn't! All bow to thronarcrull! SOme enjoy challenges, while others run from them..

The only time i seen Thornarcrull fighting without gang squad was when he had like 8 ranks on top of me. Never seen him hunting alon ever since i become hero. Never ever he accepts challenge. And honor is not about fighting war with equal power - you cannot win war that way. Honor is about beeng true to yoruself, your word, your believes.
About your integrity and valor. And is someone runs like chicken and does not accept duel hunt him down and strike with whatever means nessessary to bring him down and win the war. Duel is a different story but he never accepts it.

How can you say a Sounder and a follower of Honor could never exhibit honor? Are you really that arrogant? Cause this is total bullsh*t. I didn't run around in a hoard most of the time. I really didn't like hunting like you guys did. Both in CF and in RL, I felt like a coward if I was hunting a few evils with nine others. In that big battle at Trothon, both Erenthell and I choose to leave cause we know that we would have a greater number. And about fear, you of all people would know how big your hoards would get when you had them, so you really need to shut your trap. I wouldn't get an honor tat and as much Imm interactions as I did if I didn't of at least some idea of what honor was.
What didn't you see as honorable in my character? For the majority of my time, except the last week or so, I would return armor (that wasn't tainted) to those I slew and I would also plead others to do the same. Erenthell and I sent out missives in the Fortress regarding this.

I had fun with you, though you seemed to know the moment I logged on and you always asked me how I was doing with that thing I told you I was doing. I found it especially fun to act as if I was getting right on the matter, then walk into a no_tell area

I really dislike Greeting the Avalanch, though. I come from a mud where most warriors will spam bash because it's the best answer, at any rank. What I liked about carrionfields was the diversity of tactics, and Greeting is a big slap in the face to that, in my opinion.

Yeah, that is true. But I'll tell you this. I've played a ton of paladins. My last character was a fortress paladin. Paladin's are by the far the most well-rounded class in CF. They're just incredible. I won't go into some of the criticisms of the class they've already been done, but because they are so good, you can also do so much more on your own. You don't need a healer for certain things a warrior would. You don't need a warrior for certain things like a muter or certain shifters would. Just a bunch of stuff like that. And because of this, alot (I mean alot) of paladins kinda get lost and go do other things. One of the things that I definitely tried to impart into squires and scribes was the sense of duty. Alot of my paladins fell into the same situation as you or Lruthlor. You get a great set of armor and you're really good in battles, but you sacrifice a good amount of roleplaying to do that. There were alot of times when I would know that there was a certain item around that you or Lruthlor or some Warlock would go get and I would have to hold myself back because I knew that I would break my roleplay if I did that. Eq is in my mind the bane of roleplay. Siorgriend totally had it down, especially as a paladin, and I kinda followed his lead. I suggest that you do the same.

Yehh. I know what you mean. It's my like hm... 10th paladin hero may be.... may be more then that... I did not play CF for last two years and frankly speaking mostly traing to get back on to it. As of armor.... I since getting that set of pwents armor the only time i really had do do something fancy about getting armor for myself was when Captain asked me to give him elven blade and i had to replace it with something. So i went and got defiance. Other then that most of the time i go for items is for someone else which is part of my vision of beeng paladin.... Well i had one paladin in past who almost never helped anyone to get itsems and such... but i will tell you the story after i will die or in privat so will not disclose who he was

"Yar! Dis be me boy!" said Dahltor as he gently held his son upon one
forearm. Looking into his eyes, Dahltor felt He gleamed a smile at the
mother of his child and softly spoke, "Ya did a miracle, Geanhaloe." Covered
in sweat after hours of labor, Geanhaloe could only respond with tears and
reached out for her newborn. She held him as if nothing else existed beside
herself and her child, euphoria glowing from seeing what she helped create.

The tribe, quiet due to anticipation, began cheering as Dahltor stepped out
of the enormous, leathery tent. With his son raised above his head, Dahltor
proclaimed, "Dis my son! Fahnrore!" His people erupted in one loud roar,
yelling to the Gods and began a long night of celebration. The tribal chief
entered back into his stuffy tent, found to greeted by three mysterious
characters and his wife fallen asleep most likely from exhaustion.
Dahltor examined the travellers and saw an elf, a dwarf and a human of some
sort. Discerning some of the materials on their bodies, the newly-fathered
chieftan quickly clutched his son to his chest.

"What ya doin' ere?"
"We have come to see your son," said the elf.
"Ehh...what fer?"
"We have come to see your son," said the dwarf.
"Bah, ya already said dat! Why ya come to see me son?"
"We have come to see your son," said the human.
"Oi! What the hell be wrong with ye three? Ye deaf?"
"Your son has been born with a gift," said the elf.
"Aye?"
"Your son has been born with a gift," said the dwarf.
"Aye, the elf..."
"Your son has been born with a gift," said the human.
"Boy, if I had a shark tooth fer every time I heard dat one." Then the all
three travellers spoke, "May we see your child?"

The chieftan, clearly trying to determine the nature of their request, paused
and looked at the face of his son. With a short sigh, Dahltor slowly placed
his child into the hands of the elf. The pale elf cradled the baby and gazed
long into young Fahnrore's eyes. The clean-shaven human peered from under his
hood upon the baby and grinned toward the dwarf as the elf leaned down toward
the stumpy figure so that he could also look at the child's face. The three
travellers exchanged looks and nodded together in unison. And with a few soft
words, the elf spoke swiftly and Dahltor fell into a deep slumber. When he
awoke, he quickly looked around him, searching for his son. Dahltor could
hear Fahnrore's babbling leading him outside of the tent. He found his son upon the altar, missing his left eye.

Well, dis be odd fer ma cause I ain never wrote nutin te meself. I git alot
on me chest so I bes be startin soon. Lots bin happenin since me Pa gone way.
Fargin shark bite em gud, but died like he shoulda, in battle. Still be
hurtin in me heart...jus em an stuff. Afta dat, me had te deal wit assumin da
head ov da tribe. I jus wasn ready so I handed it te me brudder. He told ma
dat if I come back dat I wud be da Chieftan again, but I told em dat I wusn
comin back. I winked me eye an left em wit a smile. I always be wonderin how
he be doin, who be in da tribe, how da shark huntin goin an stuff. Keeps ma
goin knowin dat I be fightin fer him an da tribe.

Afta I left da island, I swam te da big island dat we wus told never te come
te, Thera. Me Pa told ma dat da big battles an gods an stuff be der. When me
wus bout da size ov a bear, he told ma dat der be a god he likd when he hurd
bout em. If I be needin anyting, he told ma te search fer em an talk te em
lik I talk te ma Grandpa. So me searched an found em lik a shiny stone in da
bottom ov a clear pond. It wusn te long befer I learned da ways ov da land an
fargin furthered me huntin skills.

Durin dat learnin, I met lots ov creatures dat hav gud hearts an bad ones. I
jus rememba da fargin stories dat me Pa told me bout fightin da fire giants.
Dey fargin came te da island lookin fer guld an stuff. Da tribe fought bak an
da fire giants ran way lik a chicken afraid ov da knife. Der be a wind in me
heart to blow out da flame ov der evil. So me joined a group ov folks dat

fer gettin in der. Me heart wus jumpin lik a rabbit lookin fer a carrot.

Der be lots ov folks out der dat be carin bout gittin der bosses symbol
tattooed te der body so dey kin be showin it off. I ain one ov dese folks. I
never asked te git or even git promoted in ma group, but me boss tought I wus
deservin or sumtin. Me culd never figure it out. Wit da wind in me heart, I
use da flame ov da light te rid ov da taint dat be ruinin dis land. Me
fell...lots. When me means lots, me means lots. But I kept it goin, an goin.

Da deaths kept on comin te me an da darkness. It wus hard on me spirit.

kick me out ov da big hut. He wouldn kick me out, but I pleaded cause me

nutin if me wusn actin accordin te dem. So instead ov kickin ma arse out, he
demoted ma te whut I wus when I furst wus inducted. I still wusn feelin so
gud bout stayin in da big hut. Me wus ashamed an fargin disappointed in me
self. I wus sulkin an stuff an asked me boss why he kept me in der an he
asked ma if me wuld throw away a dull axe. Me said no an den he said dat da
axe mite be etched or dull, but it jus be needin te be sharpened. He den told
ma dat if I earned his mark again, den I wuld be da "Warlord ov da Clarion"
an dat I wud be da most high or sumtin over his udder followers. I don know
if I be wantin dat. I still don tink dat I be deservin. Me jus don understand
why he git so much faith in ma. But dat be da way he be.

Da deaths be takin a toll on ma. I don know how much longa me kin fight. Da
days be hard an rough. I jus be hopin dat I kin prove dat I be a gud follower

Bin long time since me wrote in dis journal ting, but git te keep up wit it.
Me git back inte da Holy Brigade no te long afta me wrote me last entry.
Nutin much happenin udder den dat wit me life in da Fortress. Da physical
battle wit da darkness be tippin te da light. Yah, me be kickin der arse. But
it be da inner part dat I be tinkin an focusin on mure. Der be so many ov
dose in da light dat walk close te da line between gud an evil te closely.
Greed, anger an hate be breedin taint in da hearts ov da light. It be so tiny
an small dat mos kinno see whut der error be. It be seemin dat everyone git a
sumtin in dem dat be needin fixin. Me sorta lost sum faith in dose dat be
round me. Dey be fierce fighters an all, but me jus don feel right sumtimes.
Me realized dat da errors made further da battle wit da darkness, but at da
sametime, strengthen da will an spirit. It wus den dat I found me self findin
Honor in a whole new wey. Me said dat it wus a livin ting befer an it still

Ah I used to love talking with you and travelling in the middle times, I dont know what I did to piss off you or team goodie, but after a bit it just wasnt the same. *shrugs* I liked your roleplay and I enjoyed our maranesqe talks, though you were holding back on me it seems. That day I found the lich like 12 times, I got fed up of telling you where he was, you just wanted to charge in and take him out by yourself.... No fun for me and no sure kill of the lich neither. But I can dig your honor side of things, I just wish we got to travel more. you had 4 trains could of used them earlier to stem the rot, though I guess you wanted to go out in combat. Loved those little spars on Strange Island and in the Sands of Sorrow. Props to you for maintaing your roleplay at all times and I will see you in the fields no doubt.
