You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

The Maran’s Light

In Thera’s First Age, ‘neath a starlit veil,
A Maran strode where snowstorms wail.
Reckless heart, with fire untamed,
He carved a path where light reclaimed.
Though some called him lost, a soul astray,
His spirit lit our darkest day.

In the Second Age, his defiance grew,
Laws he broke, yet his heart stayed true.
The Veritas Order, seekers of lore,
Saw magic spark in the oaths he swore.
Bound by binds, yet unacquitted he stood,
His rebel soul wrought truth for good.

The Third Age sang of clash and strife,
Where magic wove through death and life.
His reckless deeds, a storm’s wild dance,
Ignited hope in every glance.
No chain could hold his fervent creed,
For light, he fought, in word and deed.

In the Fourth Age, tides of fate arose,
Where oceans gleamed and starlight glowed.
No longer criminal, his path was clear,
A Spire Lord’s truth drew ever near.
Through caverns deep, his legend spread,
A beacon born where shadows fled.

The Fifth Age crowned his tale in gold,
Where wisdom’s magic truth foretold.
From reckless youth to radiant guide,
He walked with Thera’s mystic tide.
Each step he took, each law he bent,
Wove spells of love, divinely sent.

In the Sixth Age, Thera’s heart still sings,
Of Maran’s light and magic’s wings.
His reckless heart, now legend’s flame,
Burns bright in truth’s eternal name.
Through snow and stars, his gift remains,
A spell of joy in Thera’s veins. Ode to you
my friend Rip Vimalv the Suicidal Scofflaw, Captain of the Brigade

This response is how some bards also speak in character. It is just crazy to me that a character can go from chat room grammatically terrible cabal chatter, in character semi-RP, then bust out a really great error free flawless sonnet randomly.

I wish the effort put into the bard notes of some bards actually transferred into the mud itself via RP as well is my only thing.

That is my own personal hangup though so don't take it personally if this doesn't apply. Also my RP is terrible at times and I would likely call myself out for low effort if I didn't know me.

it is easier to edit a letter then in live pvp perspective so its understandable and it is great to not have a ton of bard notes agreed
