I finally got my registration done. Drahk, you were easily the best rager I interacted with at the time. I hope you know that Sabiene liked you as much as you apparently liked her When I saw you deleted, it was a real shock. It could have been good, but I understand how it can be. I get frustrated with my skill set a lot, but I remind myself that for my role, it's all I need... but, I still have moments. Best luck on the next!

I was standing at Market Square in Galadon one day. I was afk and searching my living room for my smokes. I come back to my computer to see that Helga had attacked me and I somehow killed her, afk. A few minutes later, a level 5 arial warrior tells me there's a sand lizard in Galadon. So, I come to fight it. Took me about 15 minutes to kill the damned thing. Sorry you had to watch that.

Two days later there's a Drahk in my pk range, so I decide to ask that helpful warrior if he wants to travel. We share that we both want to be villagers and you mention that you know another who can join us. Braghan (Farking shyte!). After that we were attached at the hip. Even after losing a con for HAT! and all the other crazy things we did at level 25, I still had a blast whenever you were on.

Hat, arial emperor, the arena. We always pushed the limits for our respective levels, just the two of us. I've been to the arena with three other ragers and have not been able to do it. I dunno what it was about ya, but you kicked some serious ass.

Dunno what else to say, but in my eyes you left an impression on the village and on the heads of our enemies.

My skin crawls just hearing Hat!.

When I hit your pk I almost didn't ask you to group because of that sand lizard incident. Geez.. this guy must suck!

Heh. I'm so glad I did. Good times, man. Good times. In a lot of ways it was straight downhill from the first 50+ hours of no detect invis and the midranks. How fucked up is that?

Go perfect assassinate or something, ya mangy cat. It was great fighting with you.

Mace had already proven by an arial rager to be highly effective.
Axe i've seen drow use to good effect.

The village has always pissed me off. Thror has always pissed me off. Now it has an abscentee leader that really pisses me off.

I'm not going to say anything further on this subject, in this post or in any replies.

I made Drahk to play with legacies. I played with legacies. It was fun.

I made Drahk because the village was an underdog. It's not anymore.

Drahk had a fairly intricate role, that I had a great deal of fun sticking to. He had a few close friends, a few friendly enemies, and a great many(ragers included) enemies.

I am sincerely depressed by the change in the flow of the game. It was, after passing level 41, next to impossible to find a decent one-on-one or few-on-few fight. It was either get ganked into oblivion, or see no trace of your enemies because they fear getting ganked into oblivion.

I've always hated ragers in that they had no gank-escape(more important now,) extremely limited dam redu harder to deal with ganks, solo,) and RP-wise had no real justification for not standing and dying. I don't like dying, I don't like Kamikazee killing, and playing conservatively as a rager is effectively an impossibility.

Drahk had very, very, few deaths in anything resembling fair circumstances. Hats off to the few that took him down.

I'll claim, til I'm blue in the face, that this was not a rage deletion. Nice ambush by the Warlocks, and nice scatter/splatter by the ragers. I've been losing interest in Drahk for a long time, and logging him on had gotten to be a chore. I'd been contemplating doing this for a long time now, and was thinking about doing it well before I died today. The death just cinched it. I don't have the time or the energy to muddle through a few more deaths(the direct result of not having gear as a rager) and claw my way back into the game. It was fun. It isn't anymore. Thanks for all the cheeze whiz.

A few shout-outs:
Shiluzar: You rocked. Sorry to spoil "Tea with Drahk," but a day after we plotted it out I decided that I really didn't want to educate crop of future gankers/leading wave of the shifting tides/rage-deleters. In the last dozen or so hours of Drahk's life one of the only reasons I logged him in was for a chance to sit down with a cup of tea and Shil'Uzar. I had a great deal of fun talking with you, and if there's one thing I'll miss about the character that would be it.

Kastellyn: I liked you. I enjoyed our interactions. I'm curious about your tattoo - but not curious enough to break 300 hours. I think your expectations are a tad unrealistic. Or I'm not half as good as I think I am.

Sayangu: You mangy f'in cat. We lived togeather. We died togeather. It felt like something was missing when I was running around stomping without you. Damn you, damn your hide, damn your eyes. Your scraggly pirate ass better get Cap'n now that it's conveniently vacated. It was fun. Keep on truckin.

Oh, yeah. HAT, bitch, HAT!

Gre: I'm duly impressed. You reminded me of me... about two hundred hours ago. At the end there I felt a bit pale in comparison, and that's what cinched the feeling that I'd lost the spark for this character. I wish you all the best.

Scion: I've already posted notes in your farewells. Not impressed by any of the current crop.

Caysh: I liked you. I'm not sure if you could tell, but I did. I'm sorry we never got to finish the talk we started. Most of the reason I left you your things when I killed you.

Zacerzan: HAT!

Sylvan:
Boggles the mind to log on and see a declaration of war. I took your sapling, and hated every minute of it. MANY battle-roles are founded around nature. Much of battle is bound by nothing but natural law. Our enemies are mostly the same. Stupid fucking war, and I'm glad that I never had to kill any of you. There are some huge inately contradicting actions/statements that guide the village that just drive me batty. That declaration was one of them.

That's about all I've got to say. It's late, I'm tired, and I really should've been studying. I will try to answer any replies that are worth answering.

Oh.

Darmok: I liked, respected, and was irritated to the point of hatred all at the same time. The effect I think you were aiming to achieve. Very damn well done character. Sorry about the stupidity. You know what I mean.

Grogim: You're worthless. Delete. Half your edicts are idiocy. Getting into battle is hard for all of the wrong reasons, and easy for all of the wrong reasons. At the same time. You were probably a good rager, but you're a piss poor leader. The only reason you won the Rites was that there was no real competition. Thanks for captain!

But bad mojo with the comments, even though most are true.

I enjoyed ranking/interacting with you as Kiyhruus and I thought you and I had decent chemistry. You're a talented PKer, from what I saw, and you must be at least a half-decent RPer for getting Captain.

Keep the good characters coming.

I liked you too, man. Bit sad that you didn't last long. We had some good times.

Believe it or not, not too long after you vanished, I logged on to see 12 ragers on. That's about when I started seriously contemplating deletion.

Bad mojo... Yeah, I know. I never should have made a rager. I've always loved them, but as I was doing it I knew I shouldn't.

Man when you called me to the shrine then logged out back in dropped all your things and deleted my jaw dropped.....

Man I had the utmost respect for you. I always got happyier maybe even slightly giddy when I saw you logged in. I looked up to you IC and hoped to someday be like you and feel worthy of standing next to you.

Man I still cant get over you deleting and you being my sponser I always tried to gain your approval no matter what it was for. Sad eh?

Well anyway I thought you were a champ IC and I agree with you on the sylvan thing. Im even trying to work things out to stop it.

Well good luck with the studying and with life in general and I wish you luck.

You were my pledge, and one of the only ones that I both liked and was successful. There was a lot in your character there to like, and I did so - cheerfully.

I wish you the best, man. You have heart, and it's obvious that you're starting to REALLY figure things out. YOU were exactly the type that I would have 'for love of the art(combat)' given that lecture to.

I don't think so. In some ways that's how the sponsor system should work. At the same time, picture the best rager you know(not necessarily me) sponsored by the worst. How it should work isn't necessarily how it does.

Everything you said, everything you commented on I was thinking on. You basically did what I was thinking of doing. But there is one person left in battle that I know is old school and he and I have lots of fun when we are on together. I asked him if I should throw the towl in and he said not to. Something inside me tells me that now being a rager is mainly supplying ganging enmies with equipment. I've had probably five good fights with this character out of a good hundred or more. I actually made a level raiding at level 48, but even then not a single person showed up, if anyone showed it was a group of five to rip me apart.

At first impression you pissed me off almost as much as Darmok, there was something about you that just made my skin crawl. A superior arrogance that i was only just beginning to ignore.

I would like to say good luck with your next character, but I think you might be looking for a new mud along with many others.

A lot was role. A lot wasn't. You had your heart in it, played balls to the wall. Died all over the place, but kept on coming. That's the type of rager that I like to see... that's not the type of rager that I can be. Props to you.

>I would like to say good luck with your next character, but

Never. No chance in hell.

I've been 'mostly quit' for a surprisingly long time. With this deletion I'll be back to to mostly quit. In a few months, when I find some time, and am bored.. you can guarentee that I'll be back. Unless I happen to find a life between then and now...

Naaaah.

I enjoyed your character immensely and travelling with you. You were knowledgeable and on the ball, great to have around. At first I thought, "mace/axe arial, no way" but then the more I thought about it the more I thought, "damn that is a great idea!". You pulled it off well and captain off well. I thank you very much for the comments. I will mirror everything you said as well dealing with above level 41 fighting. I honestly think that is the biggest aspect of the mud that makes it boring and undesireable. It is either 5 to 9 versus 1 ganks or 8 to 11 plus pets versus 3 or 4 ragers raids. No one takes chances any more and its killing the interest on every level.
From a "theran" point of view, calling in your seven friends is always a good idea, but I hope players know every time you do that to someone you make them just want to give up and delete. Hopeless situations over and over make the mud pointless on so many levels.

Let the ganking continue. *sigh*

Re: Arial axe/mace: Now consider my legacies. Especially the one that basically no one took, and consider it in the reference of axe/mace(almost always a weapon the opponent doesn't know, and always a way to lag if I choose to do so) as a bloodthirsted arial.

Thanks for the compliments. I hope you go far.

Drahk loved you, girl. You're everything he thought a defender should be. I hated doing some of the things to you that my role demanded, but I liked watching you RP through them. Innovative role, great character, great rager-of-the-light, and the perfect defender to have on your side. You have my highest respect for playing that character, and for doing it so well. I just hope it doesn't burn you out.

Kastellyn... watch this one :p. Give her shinies. She deserves them.

That 50-60 hours in the 20's-30's with you and Sayangu is some of the most fun I've ever had on CF. As soon as I got into the village, I stopped enjoying myself. I hate raiding. I hate getting raided. What I really hate though is how once I'm in a cabal, my RP goes to #####. Also, getting Kiyhruus killed that one time just got me so angry at myself, as a player, that I coulden't keep the char going. Anyways, on to reminiscenses.

Getting HAT! at rank 25ish. Fucking awsome.
Tussling with Deathclaw (Deveskrius) with you and Sayangu. Awsome.
Rping with you and Sayangu. Awsome.
#####, even the bajillion hours of spam practice with you and Sayangu was fucking great.

I think if I'm ever going to Hero (which I never have) I need to play uncaballeds, or maybe try a nonfuckwit Herald. Being in a cabal just ruins chars for me. Haven't played anything since Braghan (school and all).

I knew when I saw your deletion, it would be with Captain, Commander or Drillmaster before your name.

You rocked, and thanks for the great times.

If you want to email me, its larcat@larcat.com

P.S Thanks for all the thin axes

What was with your psychotic play times? I was on at those times because I played cf last semester rather than going to class in the morning, like I should have. Whats your excuse?

You were one of about three villagers of any worth that I fought. Well played and all that. You knew your ##### and hunting you was a challenge. You sure could have taught the other villagers a thing or two.

Take a break and come back for more. It was fun.

In your hayday you were just about the only thing that would inspire any backbone in Scion. As I said when you deleted, I grinned every time I saw you log on... it meant that I'd be living in interesting times. I - and Drahk - have always had a softer spot for respected enemies than 'friends.' You helped make playing Drahk fun, despite the mongoose's propensity toward fucking up a damn good plan :p.

It was fun. Thank you.

I won the rites with Nourn...with little difficulty. I gave Commander to Grogim, and General to Guenrayn since I only had one more death in me.

Imms decide who is Commander, not morts. Grogim was chosen as Commander for some very valid reasons. Not to belittle Nourn, he was great, but this seems like a cheap shot here.

I don't think of it as a cheap shot, just saying he did not "win" the rites. I have the log. You told me after I killed him and Guenrayn for my last two fights that cause of my health I could not lead. And it is fact that Grogim is not doing a bang up job. All I did was look at every deleted Ragers posts about him. *shrug*

I'm not being immature. I'm not saying someone is on crack, and I'm not throwing cheap shots. I'm not an Imm, you are. This is your Immortal opinion, this is my player opinion. Grogim is just not around, is he a good leader when he is, yes. Is he better than I was at leading...probley, is he around as much. No. You can think of this as you will, but I have proof and apparently you don't cause the playerbase all feels just about the same. Do a search for Grogim on here, and Dio's. More than half the results are for him to step down blah, blah, blah...Almost all of the Ragers that deleted mentioned him in a negative way. BattleRagers are not in bad shape right now, and you the Imm staff over that knows why...and are mostly the reason for it. Not saying he leads badly, just he is not around much. It's nice to have a very active leader. (to roleplay with. to kill with. To learn from) it's makes the BattleRager experence more fun. I respect all the Imm's and I have a soft spot for the Battle ones (knowing the crap they put up with) but don't feed me a lemon and tell me it's sweet, please.

Before you take this as a cheap shot, look up ignorance. It's not.

>This is your Immortal opinion, this is my player opinion.

I tend to think mine has a little more weight to it since I can determine how many hours a player is putting in. I also have factual stats as resources where as you simply have hearsay.

This isn't a knock at you. It's a point that I'm hoping most players take away from this experience. There is no reason for anyone to literally bring someone down just because they are deleting. Especially a still active player. That's one of the very reasons I brought my forums down. The most vocal bitchers are the ones who can't find a way in game to deal with their dilemma.

>Grogim is just not around, is he a good leader when he is,
>yes. Is he better than I was at leading...probley, is he
>around as much. No. You can think of this as you will, but I

According to his hours, he's around more than enough. You and other players may have your opinions of 'around' but I don't think 8 hours a day comes close to the immortal perspective of 'around.' Sure that was easy to do in college, but when you have RL concerns it isn't very realistic. Nor does that amount of time become a pre-req for leadership positions.

>have proof and apparently you don't cause the playerbase all
>feels just about the same. Do a search for Grogim on here,
>and Dio's. More than half the results are for him to step

All those vocal posters? Read my above comment on this.

I don't read Dioxides. The amount of bitching there is bad for the health.

>down blah, blah, blah...Almost all of the Ragers that
>deleted mentioned him in a negative way. BattleRagers are

Battle isn't in bad shape. Battle also does not need the overhaul people are suggesting. If there are certain concerns you have or anyone has about battle, instead of complaining, why not provide an alternate solution for every complaint that you (individual poster) bring up? We will never give battle complete gang-banging reign. We will never give battle a 'magic-like' ability to escape bad situations, mongoose-burrow will not be found among the powers!

>leads badly, just he is not around much. It's nice to have a
>very active leader. (to roleplay with. to kill with. To

Anyone who needs an active (your perspective) leader to enjoy their experience with CF or a cabal in general needs to rethink why they play this game. A leader is only one part of a cabal, not the sum of all it's parts.

>respect all the Imm's and I have a soft spot for the Battle
>ones (knowing the crap they put up with) but don't feed me a
>lemon and tell me it's sweet, please.

Hey champ, I'm not the bitter one in this whole situation. I'm just pointing out that you're contributing to a problem instead of trying to resolve it.

Like you, I'm through posting about your comments about battle. If you don't get by it now, you just aren't going to get it.

Things I would like see changed with Battle. Give defenders a skill that allows them to defend against area spells. My suggestion for this is spell disruption or some such where they watch the mages movements and strike out disrupting the spell. It could be like doubleblock where they can only concentrate on one person and it has to be the only skill they are focusing on. Maybe even just limit its use to the village.

I found out real early that I couldn't approach a villager like I had my others characters. The seer number of protections they can have up at one time plus the enemies abilities to heal quicker than any rager ever could made this a pretty poor strategy.

Focus more on being students of War rather than the village of old. Sherman called it 'total war,' take it to them. Allow them to be a controlled army that has no mercy. Granted I could almost bet that you would allow a leader to make these changes, since I was given a lot of leeway with Jadir. It would be good coming from the man who carved the thing though. I honestly believe I'd have more fun fighting the village this way as well and that it would limit the bitching from other players.

I dont know what the whole argument is about, but I would just like to say that it is nice to see that the battle IMMs actually take the time to explain theirselves or action of others on the forum, and considering that alot of other cabals IMMs do not do the same makes me want to roll a villager(but most likely I wont). As some other character I have had, and wanted imput by those that could see me from different aspect or what I was doing wrong, would never return an E-mail or a post on the board. Althought I dont like battle, seems you IMMs, intronan/hammersong/Kastellyn are on the right track.

I told you because of your health, you couldn't lead. You were about to die, I told you something to make you feel good about yourself, and your character. Because you deserved to feel good about your character. Then you come here, and take something nice I said, and twist it to use against someone. That really pisses me off, and it's beneath you.

Gosh, that is very nice of you. This is a lot of credit for someone who basically just fixed Drahk's tea. He did more for Shil than anything else.

Drahk was one tough, tea-sipping bird. You really took care of Shil and there were many laughs... It's actually hard to believe you were upset with the game, because you and Sayangu were a riot with Shil around.

Will miss you.

It was my pleasure. Drahk was caught up in ritual, formality, respect. He cared little for anyone, but appreciated the peace and calm of a cup with you.

I, the player, wished his role was less cold and had more room to enjoy the time with you - and the ability to make time(as well you know, I was always running off to take care of business.. :p)

I could tell. And the feeling was mutual. I had a lot of respect OOC from anyone who actually did some discernable RP as a rager (beyond "Smash mage!"). The returning of gear by you was much appreciated, particularly considering the rather humiliating ways my deaths occured, such as getting one rounded before my archon even walked into the room. Caysh always thought of you as a good candidate for learning that perhaps not all magic should be destroyed.

That ambush almost didn't happen. I was hesitant to go along with it when we were outnumbered in the first place, and with you being there I was expected the tables to get turned very fast (yes, that is how much respect I had for you). If you have your view of that fight I'd love to see it, because I'm still note really sure what all happened.

Would love to see you in the Tower.

I don't keep many logs, and won't post any that I do. Basically it went:
I led out of the chasm.. saw Sayangu and Melkorath fall into quicksand

quickly moved west to try to pull them out(before we got hit in the sand) - a process I've pretty much perfected

going west shoved me into the vortex, and separated trylartin and I

cursed. fluently.

heard sayangu and melkorath yell(area spell)

east, north to get back to the poor quicksanded fucks

Walked in as Melkorath died

Beat the hell out of your water elemental

Sayangu vanished

I got webbed and lost fly(thus stuck in quicksand)

made you and Sao word(sao writhing)

Beat up the tiger

got out of the sand

wondered where sayangu and trylartin were(I knew neither was really hurt)

fucked up and got vortexed back into the sand

You came back alone.. I was still thirsted and healthy(ish) so I decided to beat on you

boneshattered.. next round lost thirst and resist

put up resist...

shielddeflected

as Sao and the storm arrived

Died. Quickly. After failing to flee in the sand.

>Would love to see you in the Tower.

Well. I've got a lot of RL things to do in the next couple months. I don't know if I'll come back, and when I do I don't know what I'll do when I come back.. but if the Tower is weak, it's a contender.

Well, I must admit I am surprised to see you delete. I had blocked off Sunday evening to attend your speech at the Inn, which earned me one of those 'looks' from my wife, but hey, I figured it would be worth it!

I thoroughly enjoyed our interactions, and really enjoyed watching you lead raids and defenses. It was obvious from the outset that you knew exactly what to do and how to convey your vision to those with you. I remember a particular raid against the Warlocks, you and three other Villagers (only two heroes) versus four Warlocks in range (I think all heroes). You guys killed three of them, one at a time, without breaking a sweat, and made the fourth one word out of there. Was quite impressive to watch. I know I wasn't the only Imm who liked to watch you work.

You were well on the road to 'getting' my religion. My expectations aren't unrealistic, and you were as good as you thought you were. The religion is just...different from other religions where the tattoo is what marks you as a follower early on in life. That just wouldn't work for my religion. I won't go into details here, but I will say you had come closer than anyone to getting it. I was also sorry that our playing times didn't overlap more; you seem to be a late evening/very early morning guy, and I simply can't be on at those times and still have a healthy home-life with my wife.

I made Drahk because the village was an underdog. It's not anymore.

Ganking is part of the game. Not that I'm an advocate of it or anything, but it is one of the things that constantly keeps you on your toes. I also should point out that, after watching you fight, I can see why most of your foes chose the gank route rather than face you one-on-one. Take that as the backhanded complement its intended to be.

There are some huge inately contradicting actions/statements that guide the village that just drive me batty. That declaration was one of them.

Yeah...*heh*. Nothing in the Village is cut and dry. I like that, makes things more interesting. It would have been interesting to see how things changed had you stuck around and gotten the leadership position. There's more to it than just the interviewing/inducting, or having a 'system' for inducting.

Feel free to email me if you've got any questions or other comments - I had heard that you wanted to tell me a few things right after you deleted, but I wasn't on. Kastellyn@carrionfields.com. Good luck with your next character.

>Well, I must admit I am surprised to see you delete.

I really hadn't been having any fun with the character. I think I tend to lose interest after 50-100 hours at hero. I was past that, and then a few more things happened to bore me: the opposing cabals got a lot weaker, battle filled up, etc. Also, I was off the project I had been on at work, seriously decreasing my freetime.

>I had
>blocked off Sunday evening to attend your speech at the Inn,
>which earned me one of those 'looks' from my wife, but hey,
>I figured it would be worth it!

It would have been. When Arvam told me that I needed to hold an event that would increase the inn's attendance that is what I came up with(partially from Drahk's role.) I started out excited, thinking of the Braoldan/Braghan/Yshemir/Trylartin types. It fit my role, and it fit the player. I'd put a few RL hours into preparing for it the following day, and sitting there with a textfile open typing was more fun that I'd had playing in a long time. How sad is that?

I was hoping that you'd make it, and I was hoping that it would turn out as special as I thought it would.

There really wasn't much work to be done in those later days. For the first 200 hours of my life, I had a blast 'working' - and I'm glad that you and the others enjoyed it as much as I did.

I was also sorry

In Drahk's early life I was a wierd scattered hours guy(lots, and lots of them.) In his mid-late life I was playing after work instead of sleeping. It is too bad, but when our paths crossed it made the rest of the time worth it.

Honestly, while I was enjoying the character I was too freakin' busy raiding for the head, raiding for items, running from ganks, separating ganks and takin' people down... odds are you'd have spent more time watching me than interacting with me. But it was fun

*chuckle* Taken as the backhanded compliment it was intended to be. I'm well aware that it is part of the game... but speaking from experience the hero range is just a lot less fun than it used to be.

>Good luck with your next

Thanks.

In fact, thanks for everything. Despite our disparate play times, following you was rewarding.

First time we met, I thought you were another villager. I don't know how you guys learn to run so fast but with no healing or real protections I can see the necessity to get back to the village if your in a bad way.

Second time, I was thinking 'hey, that was the first 1 on 1 i'd had in ages'. You did better and even took me by surprise, something not done by someone who suspiciously divines the location of every villager every 5 seconds.

Third time, shoot. Killed me and easily.

Fourth, another kill. Still no sight of you ganging me like others have to.

I then proceeded to loose count of the amount of times I saw you rushing off and kicking ass. I never did manage to kill you (though thats no surprise) but I almost had to let you kill me. Something about you screamed 'yep, sticking to the rules and still kicking ass'. I'd lost all respect for the village when I created Yhorian but you earned half back. I'll mention the others later, but you definetly deserved all you got.

We need more villagers like you. I actually enjoy dying then!

Yhorian Adethusal, the conjurer person. You know, the nexun? Oh, right.

Decent players help pull cabals out of underdog status. Excellent players find ways to keep things interesting once this occurs. Guess we know where that puts you.

I really liked your role. Loved your no bs attitude and really thought it to be the character. After reading this post, lined with insults and flames, I'm beginning to wonder.

Kastellyn has such a way with words. It's part of the game. I wish I could try to take the edge off of the bitterness but I'm not really into trying to sugarcoat anything. You learn to live with it and rise to each situation, defeat or victory in hand.

This is an unfair cheap shot. I could sit here and say you did nothing to strengthen/weaken cabal relationships but that would be unfair, because I didn't watch you 24/7. The same applies with you and Grogim. Just because your online times differ and his perspectives and policies are different than yours doesn't give you a right to bring him down with your own deletion. I assume that's an easier thing to do now that you've deleted and you are having your nae says, but it's also cowardly, if that word could be applied outside of the game. If you felt so strongly about this, you should have handled it in game and done better yourself. He who is without sin...first stone...yeah

I'd like to say I really liked Drahk. His battles were great and his attitude was perfect for battle. At one point I wanted to kick you from the cabal for something I forget you did, but you managed to argue (defiance is good if you know how to approach it) solidly your case. To be honest however, your goodbye note managed to sour that impression of you. Good luck in the future.

I'm well aware of my strengths and weaknesses. I'm well aware of my caliber as a player. That was a cheap shot, in some ways patently untrue, and on this subject your opinion really doesn't mean anything to me. We can agree to disagree on this point.

>I really liked your role. Loved your no bs attitude and
>really thought it to be the character. After reading this

In truth, I was (and am) holding back. I stated, simply, that I've always hated you. An oversimplification. In a lot of ways I like you. As an authority figure, especially senior battle imm, I despise you. Simple statement of how I feel. I did flame Grogim, harshly. In that, I'm unrepentant. Though I did break out the napalm, it was a tiny portion of a large post. I don't think that qualifies as 'lined with insults and flames.'

More than once I contemplated deleting rather than having to deal with Thror. I knew what to expect walking into this character, and knew that I'd spend at least some time regretting the investment of time. As I said somewhere else... as I was rolling him I 'knew better.'

In all honesty... it wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. And there was some good to go with the bad. You have grown a lot, and you surprised me (pleasantly) on more tha one occassion. But you did have me contemplating flipping you the bird and deleting. More than once.

>Kastellyn has such a way with words. It's part of the game.
> I wish I could try to take the edge off of the bitterness
>but I'm not really into trying to sugarcoat anything. You
>learn to live with it and rise to each situation, defeat or

Because of my rampant snipping, the above paragraph is out of context. It refers to the prevalance of ganking.

It is a part of the game. It has always been a part of the game. Once a month everyone on one side would log on, and run around in a massive group destroying all in their path. The majority of fights, however, were one on one or few on few. Single people, or small groups, would try to raid against equal numbers. People would try to defend their cabal if only slightly out numbered. Thera was a bit smaller, and it was actually possible to hunt down your enemies.. even if they teleported a round later.

These days the situation is reversed. Almost no one will fight without an overwhelming advantage. Which I find disappointing.

Yes, there was some bitterness there. Yes, a bit of the crotchety-old-man-reminicsing-about-the-golden-days coming out. That, too, was more a statement of my disappointment than a rant, rave, whine, etc.

"You learn to live with it and rise to each situation, defeat or victory in hand."
Three points:
1. Measuring the new hero range against the old against the Nep patented fun-stick... I don't think anyone(except those that can ONLY enjoy the rush of success in a part of an 8-on-1) thinks that this is a positive change.
2. Even as a rager(without hide, no less!) I lived with it, and rose to each situation, with a surprising number of victories in hand.

*** WARNING *** #3 CONTAINS NAPALM!!! ***
3. That was a damned pompous statement... with absolutely no grounding in reality. This forum is OOC. Drahk doesn't have to respect a powerful diety, and patron of his cabal here. You know damn well that you couldn't do even half as well.

I did say it all in game. Thus it's neither cowardly, nor cheap. Drahk felt less strongly about it than I-the-player did, thus he pursued it less strongly. Ask Kastellyn if you doubt.

In many ways Grogim was an anchor around the neck of the village during the hard times, and some of his orders were just plain insane.

I'm no pure-as-fresh-driven-snow virgin, but I do consider glass houses before throwing stones. I wouldn't have flamed-on if I didn't think it needed to be said, and I didn't feel perfectly secure in saying it.

I'm perfectly willing to go into a fact by fact and point by point rational of why I said what I said, and I wouldn't have said it if I didn't feel that my logic was solid. If you really want to we can spell this out, and you can try to defend him. If you really think what I said was wrong/unfair, and there's solid ground there to stand on?
>

I liked Drahk. I built his role, and lived his attitude to be perfect for battle. I had a lot of fun, and am glad that I was successful. I should have deleted 100 hours ago, though.

As I said above, you had me contemplating a unique form of rage-deletion on more than one occassion.

On a positive note, I-the-player took positive glee in some of your 'rage-on' notes/orders. I chortled at a few of the 'your life is our curteosy.. which we can withdraw' statements. I-the-player loved it when you ordered me to kill Farnsworth. Drahk-the-character was upset and irritated - he had better things to do than whack a priest. You soured that one for me when your 'rage-on!' went south with the birds. I was sitting at my computer wishing I had the balls to ask if you wanted him dead or not.

Like your opinion means much to me? I'm just here trying to make the game fun for people. In some regards I success, in others I fail. Like I said, I won't line this with sugar in or out of the game. You claim to be an excellent player, I claim that from what I saw, I could only say "This guy can put up a good fight." In those regards you did have a good role and stuck to it, but it wasn't stellar. I'm going to have to tag that as decent. Next!

As a person, I'm not sure where the 'hatred' comments are coming from. If it's coming from someone who can sit behind a screen and hate another person without meeting them that's bitter, shallow and immature. We'll consider it isn't just to give you the benefit of the doubt. We'll consider it's Thror you hate. Once more, you can hate him out of game just fine. As a BattleRager, you have to deal with him, his role, his attitude. Thror does not equal the person I am. Thror has always done what's best for battle. The funny thing is, I've not stepped in to monitor battle in quite awhile. The fact that the cabal was letting a breach of a pact occur and not doing a thing about it was pathetic. Yes, you were in a leadership position to have done something or even approached the gods. You did nothing.

>More than once I contemplated deleting rather than having to
>deal with Thror. I knew what to expect walking into this

Your contemplation was probably right on the money. If you want to do things your way and have no authority figures guiding a cabal, then you should probably avoid cabals completely. Based on your attitude via these past few posts and your character traits, I'd have to say the commonalities of you and your character aren't far off. By the way, you won't get very far with that.

>In all honesty... it wasn't as bad as I expected it to be.

Why didn't you? Why endure whatever difficulties I threw at you? Which to my knowledge was one incident which you managed to defend yourself enough to remain in the village. I'm not going to stop monitoring battle, for you, or anyone. Battle needs this. Anyone on the other side of a deathblow gang-bang is going to want and expect retribution and unless one of us Battle Immortals steps in and makes sure those powers are being used correctly, that probably won't happen.

Reminiscing won't help. These are different days, it's a different game and there are different players. The best you can do is set an example and hope people will follow it. You did well in that regard.

>"You learn to live with it and rise to each situation,

What are you going to do about it? Go to another mud? Experience the same thing? Honestly, all you can do is bitch about it and that's just a waste of time and bandwidth or you can prepare yourself to think like your opponent in the game and handle each situation with caution. Hey, it's your birthday, do what you like.

Everyone wants to toot their own horn. Here's me tooting.

I've done twice as well and then some.

However, I've also had the maturity to avoid bringing other people down with my ignorant (yes, without knowledge) statements that hold no merit. If you think you have the facts, then you need to present them to argue your case. JoeBob and Billyboy saying Grogim isn't around when they are and that they need him to enjoy this game, does not equate to solid facts. Like I mentioned to Thralkoz. Battle has three very active immortals who check on the status of their villagers all of the time. We communicate when we think someone should go and when we think someone should stay. If we felt Grogim' wasn't doing his duty, based on the facts that are available to us
(yes more than you can hope to have, he would have been gone.

You brought none of this to our attention. You did nothing to back the rediculous and 'look at me' nonsense you have posted here. You did not challenge Grogim's position as leader nor did you perpetuate any form of mutiny within the village. To be as bold as to say you did something to change the situation is completely false.

You shouldn't. Your facts are off. You have nothing solid to stand on by saying Grogim isn't around. Around for who's perspective? Again, if you or other villagers need Grogim around to enjoy this game then I don't think he needs to be punished to fulfill your needs.

E-mail me if you think you have solid facts regarding this situation or want to voice anymore concerns. Or, unless you want to go public again and try to clash egoes with me, again, it's your birthday.

Thanks for that one on one fight near the Village that day. I knew you were going to kick my ass and kick my ass you did. Mostly I was just looking forward to roleplaying with you afterward, but my girlfriend walked in the room and...well you know, I HAD to log off. From what I saw your character was tough as hell and well played. I just wish I could have been in hero range for your younger days when you were still "into" the character.

I too was looking forward to the tea with Drahk this Sunday, sorry its not gunna work out. Good luck with your next, whatever/if it may be.

Thank you for the fight near the village. You were one of the few with the guts(balls?) to accept that kind of challenge. You made a good showing, and were gracious in defeat. The note I wrote reflected Drahk's feelings(OOC I felt bad, but ya do what your role says you hafta do :p) - and both IC and OOC I grinned and gave a nod of well earned respect when you wrote back when circumstances changed.

I was disappointed when you had to leave, and honestly did intend to pick up where we left off... though we never really had the chance.

You were EXACTLY the type of person that I was thinking of when I agreed to 'Tea with Drahk.' Exactly the type of person that I wanted to give a few pointers to, and a bit of a leg up.

OOC I felt bad for you. OOC I am arrogant about some things. IC Drahk was extremely hardass(and arrogant!) about some things... and our conflict was one of those.

Your character had a good heart, and Drahk thought you were a good rager. He was sad to see you go.

Thror declared the war over an incident you had no part in, you did not send a scroll to ask why, instead you bitch about it here. I dislike the war as much as the next but untill the issue is resolved it remains. Thror declared the war knowing it is exaclty what I would do when the pact was breached. Your opinion matters little to me and I looked over your post yesterday and contemplated ignoring it completely but its mindless throwaway comments like this that pustulate into a nasty disease so I am here to poultice your scabby comments.

The edicts were my choice as I am leading the village within the paramaters set out by the Immortals of it. They have no problem and I am sure they are probably glad to see a change from the cookiecutter policies that seemed to have been present with the last few leaders. The idea of finding a sponsor was to make sure the applicants only really needed to see one rager around regularly. having been an applicant and never seeing much meant that getting two recs was often tough. If the applicant was clever they would know to pick a rager elder who suits them. Scouts look for scouts and so on. Also the traits of that villager should suit their style. Zenguk had a sponsor from a villager I know plays hard and dies hard and I said to zenguk that I do not want him to follow his chosen sponsor in his actions, I made a deal that if he died needlesly and stupidly he would be out and the rest is history. This brings me to your failed sponsor who you had not even asked how many mages they killed when they had killed NONE and then tried to lie to me. I got a heads up, they got kicked out and my estimation of you, which was high up untill then, dropped. It dropped even further when you were convincing a young rager to 'trade' his items back with Rogedax who was (a) a Betrayer (b) Hunted and (c) a Nexun and I was about to kick you out then but I was a firm believer in 2nd chances and I gave you one then and just told you how bad it was and how bad it looked. This stab in the back now makes me wonder why I bothered.

I already addressed the sylvan war and as for winning the rites. Well its not all just about bloodthirst and hitting deathblows which, for all intents and purposes, you were. Its about the whole package. Nourn got very lucky with a tick right after he got dirted in the rites but this is the game and luck plays a part. When we had our duel I missed 5 of my perfected skills and as we never duelled again I could not say if you were better than me or not. I would not be so presumtious to judge.

Officers are picked on ability and , for me, to display a trait in Grogim's make-up that I think is lacking. I also consider playing times to make sure that almost 24 hrs of the day are covered and there is always an officer about. You were the harsh, arrogance that Grogim does not have. If I did have it, well, as I said before you would not have even been a rager as long as you were. They are reasons for everything and you did not care to find out any. I often wonder how such small-minded people can have such big egos.

Grogim, out.
