Azorinne made Ubekoz a Maran <PK: 7-14>
That's 107 hours as a Squire, before making Maran, which is a long time granted. But, his PK record kind of sucked, and he was level-sitting. That's two pretty significant strikes against him. Yet despite that, he STILL did Maran pre-hero, and pre-10 EPKs (the traditional threshhold), so that's pretty good.
If you want to make Maran quick, there's basically 3 things you have to do:
1. Get 10 EPKs as quick as possible
2. Get into hero range
3. Be a visible leader towards the other Squires (lead raids, offer advice, call people out if they're being idiots, etc).
I'm betting Ubekoz did the third pretty well, and that's why he made Maran (and leader) pre-hero. But if he did the first two, he definitely would've done it faster.
