While there's some active threads, they all appear to be regarding Tribunal policies and procedures rather than the character. If there's continued discussion, it can be moved off the Battlefield.

well. I am still a cripple
Life goes on and years go by man, much of it was more readily able to accept my position. I am a bit more able to do things now including with taking care of myself I wasn't able to before. Depression was very hard on me back then, more than now. So also back then, my anxiety was more ramped up . Still have anxiety issues but not as severe etc.
Imms can attest to that with my trip to rotd
With qinsa though I did have a right to be bitter with the umiron situation, and he did deserve a good ass chewing, but that also is the way things are sometimes. I still look at him fondly

and *hugs* glad your still playing and many others. Is still some good peeps on the game.

This char needed much, much more women to flirt with than he got the chance to. Again sorry illaeth for mixing you up for a woman, and umm... bad illaeth for not correcting me! That was sooooo funny.
The two female imms, I hope you guys got some laughs at least, I am not a big flirt irl so things were a stretch for me, and I was probably bad at it anyway.
Venara - I didnt get to be tall dark and skeletal for you, but you were soo funny I couldnt resist interact with you at least a few more times.
Ishuli - same goes for you. Not interested unless I became interesting. I imagined if I ever got to mummy, I would be able to do this : emote extends and retracts his mummified, bandaged hands, and brings his arms back and roars in defiance to the death that sought him. You say, "Never before have I felt such desire and need for the flesh I once craved to please. But there is one before all else I desire above all others. emote snaps his rotting eyes to focus at Ishuli. You say, "I still want you Ishuli." Just because I wanted to make that part in undeath be a creep factor woulda been neat hehe. Sorry that after the griefing I lost interest. If my char ever did mummy, I had plans along that line going.
Vramun - warriors can often not only be powerhouses in the game, but exceptional ones. Its rare one rises up to be on that level, even of my own warriors sad to say. I have had very successful ones, but you were on par with ones like hunsobo strong I would say (or at least very nearly). You did good man. Interacting with you also was like interacting with oh god, that old mummy emporer that made the library in the empirial lands etc. Just.... the type of person you wanna keep interacting with, even with different characters.
Guais - You I saw much less of, im sorry man but your playtime was dwingling when I came in, and dissapeared during lochlans earlier years. RL reared its ugly head. Otherwise you had brass balls as a thief going into the woods saying you would be the distraction for that axe wielding fire giant etc, and more. I rather liked you for it. You didnt go out of your way to be safe, you went out of your way to go into danger. On that end, was happy with the way things turned out giving you those gloves etc.
cardric - use wands first. Take care of yourself first before committing to action. enemies can and will be forced to wait for you to prepare because they have no choice alot of times. Otherwise provincial was deserved. The words 'I hate you less than most' still make me chuckle too you had interesting interview techniques and speach usage
Kreptar - I have a feeling you use that char to log in, check who , and log out a few minutes later after seeing which char to play, and I believe I know two characters. Its dissapointing. Grow some balls and play the character in the cabal you are in man.
Many other tribbies most come and gone. Many I only interacted with a bit because they were not women. Im sorry but that was my characters focus. Specific frost giant ranger tribbie .. all I can say is
Hunsodin - very competant monk. I did keep trying to sway you to the side of helping the felar get laid. You know hat was actually very important to my character, as he did care for women . You were solid, and in that good job, as well for the most part sticking to your values where others' collapsed, in terms of your rp and cabal.
Yanni - my first interaction with you was offering you a test against me, and you responded with you will not fight me, because I will never leave the cities. I considered you to be.. dim with that, and our later interactions would not prove otherwise.
certain felar I was trying to get laid - odd I cant think of your name right now, go figure. Your logins became more rare and I felt like it was attributed to me so I backed off heavily, but I hope you got alot of laughs out of it, and the note to try to get you support You were a blast though also in some of the replies, such as the firm belief I was flirting with you, and trying to convince me your -no no hole- was off limits loved ya man
illaeth - again I will say bad illaeth for not letting me know you werent a woman I was flirting with
uhh glik - Often I would see you log on, then log off later after having not moved. Other times I saw you try, at least more recent, and I felt like yeah this guy really is emporer material after all. But reason I went tribbie and not empire was due to the fact that I felt the emporer (from brryns perspective) wasnt worth having as a leader. Seeing it from this char though, and that you had strong ability and did do alot, I misjudged you and I am sorry. You actually do kick ass, and do alot, and I wanted that known. In game you get alot of hatred, but it isnt deserved, you are doing rather well.
rhoy - very competant assassin from what I have seen. We didnt interact much due to you being a man though, other than the murdering thing for defending. Sorry on that, but I did focus on women.
uhh
mommy underaxyl. Wait mummy underaxyl!! - If it was not for you I would likely never have known the other two items, only the one with suspicion of the other. If my not becomming a mummy was upsetting to you sorry, I really did try. Dang yzekon hehe.Thank you for the help, though it came at a cost, definately willing to pay it for the power. You are scarabs main thrust, and you do a damn good job of it.
Adriac - You were just so damn funny I couldnt go around attacking you, you know that? Even though you were chaotic (though this goes with the throwaway character I had to deal with the griefers mainly). I just love the characters humor. keep mooing you cow.
uhh orcy garfuka - Some orcs just rise to the next level of orcdom, and you do. Tough bastard with huge balls and thats what I like in an orc. My orcs have not been as successful though I have had a few. My best was a spear user for pin mundunugu. I loved him, but he got assassinated like 4 times in a single login by 3 different assassins all hunting him, stripped twice in it, and any fights he got were at least 3 v1 against him but the rare assassinate miss. Ive never been as successful as an orc as yours. You kick ass and good job. Ive also never had a chief though too. I should remedy that one day, but that isnt today.
more uhh - Oh yeah phelzhis - When I wrote that note after your recruitment message I had never interacted with you before, on any char. Not with brryn nor lochlan, I had known nothing about you, I was just a mage messing with a drillmaster . If you took anymore from that im sorry on my end. I really felt like you were a newbie. From what I saw, especially from rhoy you got your butt kicked alot, but still stayed in lowbie ranks your enire characters life. I am a bit old school where I believe a leader should lead, and be seen fighting the fight against the strengths of the world. You were an eternal attempted lowbie killer that did not seem to do that well. Keeping that in mind, I would not wish to join the village with one of its leaders refusing to try at all. This is what I saw on my end. Bear in mind as a leader of a cabal, your presence and ability as well as interactions dictates whether or not people will even want to be in the same cabal as you, and the village really suffered because of you.
Enifey - saved my chars ass with wands man thank you. Normally like odoe and a few others, people that stay out of the wars I often see as gearlockers, because they dont actually use it / risk losing it for the most part. Others though come to be, like you and odoe, that will do anything with anyone and while not risk the armors, will still be benefit to the community, whereas another that stays out of wars, I see as a gearlocker. You and odoe are a great benefit to the pbase still despite not warring, and I thank you both for managing to do it, and come across as a great guy.
Odoe - see above Positive side. Boo for stealing my minions.
Outlander - most came and went so fast the names ive long forgotten. It was very rough for you guys and I am sorry for it. One person did not make so much of a difference even when there were 50+ people on at once, not to mention 100+, but nowadays it does make that much of an impact. It was rough on you guys, and my edge combo did even have me land a few heck of alot of pwks' (eww). But there is one, and one only I will mention very highly in this.
Thorawyn - man it was very harsh on you. I felt so bad I did but on the oher hand I could not show that in character. It was bad enough though, with you being the 'only' outlander often that would even log on and try something, anything even if it was only limiting the power of a magistrate, you were doing it. I begged in my role for you to be tossed a bone for it (hence some part of the comments of putting things in my role I shouldnt, though there was more. bad galkabear bad bad bad). I felt you did deserve sunwarden and more. The effort you put in (though some shady things, such as using the quit command for aggro + anti stalk reason) costed so much, but you were the 1 person, the 1 person in the guild that stuck through it. I wish I coulda helped ya in game, but I was on the opposide side of the fence. Take care man and keep truckin the way ya do. Minus the shady stuff.
Banshee - I still hate you banshee for my death to you in the entropy cabal. Coulda been much more costly for me but your owner was a bit leniant dunno why but am grateful. I still hate you banshee
anyway, im out. take care guys

From your posts about Grimbalg, I sort of now understand (at least I think) why you full-looted/sacced me. Not that I mind the act itself or that it was a wrong thing to do, just unexpected from how I thought you would behave. Though your reasoning to Garfuka that i happened to hear as I was walking by was pretty weak in my book. Saying that you're concerned with the marans becoming criminals is a horrible reason logically to full-loot. I mean then you'd be full-looting everyone you see as a disincentive, at the very least. Much better to just say you either hated fighting me or i was annoying the #### out of you.
I'm glad though that you ended up giving Vehli a legitimate reason to decide to go after you in town, we had some fun fights for sure!
Pretty bummed though that that kill you got on me with Garfuka was one of your last logins. I had an even better set I had scrounged up to fight you with by the end of that log-in and was hoping to surprise you with round 2 the next day!
GLWYN!

had forgotten your name.
Actually, you repeatedly decided to warn my char against wrongful flags, per aiding a criminal, despite being told repeatedly, the provosts ruling. Wouldnt go to ishuli to clarify etc.
You also took to hovering around galadon hoping others would attack me, to when you would become a criminal, and this was during the heavy griefing pariod, and it seemed you wanted to jump on the bandwagon.
So yeah, I am NOT going to, when a char like this dies, give his gear back so he can keep doing it again over and over. I mean come on man.
This sentence summed it up rather well - I'm glad though that you ended up giving vehli a legitamate reason to decide to go after you in town, we had some fun fights for sure'. You were a ####ing maran, you already had every reason to go after a necro in town.
But using those two as a means to try to gang me down during this time, and accusing me for what you were doing (wrongful flagging etc, despite being wrong) just no. You had a very strong char and I saw you as the second strongest, but your playstyle left you as trash to me, and didnt warrant a goodbye.

Here's how life was for a Maran:
The way Ignolmeer ran the cabal made it so that you got into real tough #### for killing a single lightwalker, regardless of how it occurred. From what it sounded like, any past that and you were basically going to be booted. So I never took the risk. I mean, don't you think it's weird that none of the Maran went after you in a city, paladins excluded? Ignolmeer deleting not only changed dynamics a bit from an IRL perspective, but the logic was if you are going to warrant me anyways if you see me in a group or near a criminal maran, might as well get that warrant attacking you in cities. I did hang out in Galadon a lot, but it's because I enjoy watching fights and seeing how they will play out for ppl. Did I ever attack you pre-warrant? No.
I just personally disagreed with how you interpret that law. I didnt realize at the time Ishuli was running her ship the way she did. I also, as I said, saw no reason to bother a Goddess with conversation about that law when Grimbalg said he was going to. In negotiations, you don't have multiple people on one side trying to state a case at different times. You send a single representative, group, whatever. You don't know since you decided to quit, but once it was clear Grimbalg also wasn't going to get the job done, I had gone and talked to Ishuli. As an aside, you make it sound like we had like five conversations where I complain about my warrant. We had two discussions about it. Two. And then you and I never discussed it again.
Jeez man, look at it from other people's perspective and don't just assume XYZ. Perhaps it can be misconstrued as griefing bandwagon (which I disagree with), but the real reason is 3 events all happening in close succession. 1. Ignmoleer deleting 2. You giving me and a slew of marans warrants 3. Grimbalg hitting hero ranks.

I dunno how it was with iggy imm, I do confess that. I havent played in a long time. My last maran was a few years ago, paladin follower of jaguar. Became either marshall or captain forget which. After a situation with the acolyte imm demoting me from leader for doing what maran imm said to do, after said imm comes back from a long break with no clue going on, deleted that char. Jaguar imm gone, will not be in the fortress until I see an imm there that will actually speak before acting, or at least have a clue before acting in some situations. What was done then was almost umiron level of bad.
No, also, some maran did come after me but it was like, only 2. There was some shadier things, such as a dwarf applicant lying about being attacked to try to get my char murdered by a high level conji with angel (failed) but also only applicant.
My captain did kill a very few lightwalkers on accident as criminal, so always took his own life to avoid it. Also did things in the towns itself to benefit the families of said guards, though thankfully it only happened like twice.
I expect maran criminals. They should be willing to be criminals, and there had been criminal ones plaguing the vindicator for a while even with the presence of iggy imm. It is just that they were unwilling to be.
Also, you were not in a group near the criminal, you were attacking me outside of the city with the criminal, so yes. Yes you were warranted for aiding a criminal. As per logic, it is your fault you committed the crime, knowing you were committing the crime. Using your crime as a foundation to commit other crimes freely is redundant. Your a maran, either act like it or not.
To that end, lochlan did not interpret the laws, I made it quite clear the provost did. It was the provosts ruling. You also knew what you had to do in game for verification, i.e. writing ishuli. I think I have said that enough even a complete retard should have understood it by now. Lochlan no interpret law. Provost interpret law. You also trusted a griefer to write to ishuli, and then speak to you, instead of doing it yourself. You have an issue with something, then bring it up. Yes grimbalg never went to speak with ishuli his only want was griefing.
You were not a griefer. I did not accuse you of it, but you did hop on board to use them. In a part with grimbalg I dont blame you, #### man but hes another maran your fighting an evil. On the other hand push comes to shove, I cannot have leniency to allow you to continue on as you were doing either, there had to be punishment in my eyes for repeated and constant crimes.
Just remember. When you choose to commit a crime, it is not someone elses fault you chose to. Dont speak to the magistrate as if you were the victim, avoiding purposely any attempts at actually knowing whats going on, including listening to the magistrate. Those above all else ruined what interaction there could have been between our two chars, which unfortunately with the power your char actually was (well made I might add, and there is a good player behind it that plays it mechanically), you just came across as a complete idiot in the things you said.
Including the repeated 'warnings' of warranting you for aiding a criminal. Really?

Just like you and Maran interpretation I had absolutely 0 idea that was the new way of interpreting that law, as I was coming off with trib law philosophy when I had several provosts years ago. I guess we're both victims of old times.
All in all, it's a moot point about our conversations. We can just both agree the other was competent in terms of PK, and leave it at that.

I'm glad you died. You took no risk, sat online for days and were just boring to play against. I tried to fight you all the time but you'd have nothing of dthat unless I came into the city and had to fight everything in the city, guards, dead, special guards and you still wouldn't chance anything. I should've stripped you when you died because I hate players like you. Seems to be the norm these days though.

I took no risk raiding through 2 and 3+ people solo. I took no risk defending against that number including from fort / village / entropy / outlander all at once. Yeah.
Anyway, the only character to talk like this in game was yanni, who wouldnt even defend his inner guardian, or fight without excessive numbers with little risk to himself in a ganging on one person, when it came to lochlan. So on that note -
If you want to attack a tribbie, suck it up and murder him in town. Dont come to a death thread with the attitude of maybe it was possible I would have a chance, a small chance to attack you if you left the city (for no reason you need to do mind you) etc etc.
Considering my characters role as a ladies man, a heavy flirt, he spent the majority of his time not raiding / defending with flirting / teasing, etc things per his character. If you were not outlander / entropy / criminal you were mostly ignored.

I sign off on all my posts, son, so whoever is OP wasn't me.
Second, you and I had like 2 conversations the entire time we played together, so stop acting like you have any idea who I am as a character. I also don't remember saying anything about you taking no risks, only that whenever I was online you NEVER left the city. And if you did it was only for like a second. By the time I noticed you outside and worded to come look for you, you were back inside the city.
As for not taking risks, I do remember myself and Vehli fighting you and Vramun IN GALADON a couple of times. So a 2 on 2 fight in Galadon against a Provost and a Vindicator isn't taking risks? One of those times you died and Vramun went running. So I guess that's nothing noteworthy, huh? Honestly, you just sound super salty about not killing me. I mean... Try harder? Be better?

Those two conversations were for a reason, aside you not being a woman, after the first conversation I saw you as I had said.
Also when you were on I left the city quite often. Despite what people would try to lead others to believe, my rods didnt grow on the high road.
For the last, take in example you and the sunwarden being on eastern road in a summon trap. Me going outside, summoning thorawyn. Thorawyn runs into galadon, you word home. You head to your guild and quit. That was one of the quite a few examples of when I went after you. I can name others such as the taking of your orb (myself and vramun at your inner, with your inner tanking) in which you wouldnt show, etc et al.
Per your second paragraph, you are leaving out not only the sunwarden who was with you for 3 of you during those attacks, and there being only 1 person at a time you fighting (as vramun needed eat fish etc et al) and only one attack did you three face us together, otherwise it was 3v1.
Per my post itself, I used you as an example because you were trash, and a very good example of what I referred to in that posting. Please read it again to understand if you have to. I am not salty because you wish to pretend it, or anything else.
To you personally, dont go away mad, just go away. Bye.

Not sure of the context of the comments, but I would assume a Maran would likely be less than kind to a necro tribby. You and I only interacted a couple times as Sigard, but even though I was more reserved when talking to baddies I was still more likely to be curt with someone I knew was evil from the outset because I was a paladin. To me your char seemed like a decent enough fellow that must have had some real weird tendencies that skewed your morality into darkness. Others goodies might not give the time of day to find that out simply because you were a necromancer. I will admit to laughing about your get Krelroy laid fund, even if I didn't endorse it in character. In character, however, I had to take a cold view of it. Irikdriby might have been more enthusiastic about all of that but I don't think we met, or at least not meaningfully if so. You have to look at animosity towards you as an IC thing first, IMO. There have been lots of characters that I've hated that I will give absolute props toward the player. So long as they stay IC, me hating them usually means they are doing a good job.

my char was designed to be a flirt / creepy flirt. What made him evil morality wise was his use and abandonment of women and their use as pleasure, as he grew up to be while growing up in a brothel.
Im glad the gettin krelroy laid thing made you laugh, I was trying to give wtf moments to people, while getting across my character really did care about womens existance for pleasure and not pain. Bit of a sadistic thing, but was meant to be funny.
Think karnifex got the biggest wtf moment though, and I think I really screwed with one of his logins with it but as it were, all of that was just havin fun with other players to me.
I did expect cold reactions / not aiding especially from maran, though some did speak to krelroy I believe seeing if he did really need aid in their own fashion (one in particular I know did, which just made it even more funny).
I do look at animosity towards me as an in char thing first. However with the situations that came to be, including the two big griefers (one that was removed from game with gecho) it was not the case.

vindicator calls for taking of an item to try to get a criminal to justice, then yes, their item is taken. I could only do this through word of the vindicator, hence why it was done, and should have been done.
The criminal, if he/she had showed and died (or likely as a well protected invoker fighting at an inner guardian would have fought us off) the item would not have been taken.
It is not a situation of thumbs down, its what was supposed to happen given the situation.

Taking an item, no.
I don't see any reason to justify downing the orb at the executioner, unless every single person in Fort is a perpetual criminal. This is basically starting a war and provoking non-criminals in Fort to retaliate, which runs contrary to the Spire's purposes.

Whether you see it or not doesn't matter.
Taking an item to try to bring a criminal to justice is the vindicators, and only the vindicators right and responsibility, as mentioned within the books within the spire. This means any cabals item.

doesn't mean it needs to be done.
They do not instruct you to "take the item under these and those circumstances", they merely say that as a vindicator you CAN take it. Most of the time even if it doesn't technically break the rules of the Spire, it is still a bad decision because it leads to more crime and provoking people who would otherwise never break the law.

But let's say you find out a Magistrate makes a mistake, such as ones Lochlan committed (which is to attack someone in a city when they are not warranted during their retrieval attempt).
At this point, a tribunal then owns up to their mistake, and you find that respectable. I know that Lochlan wasn't relegated/punished to a "less busy" city like they used to do back in the day, so instead you made him have to at the very most (speculation at this point) pen some internal note speaking on the dangers of what he did wrong and how to avoid such mistakes, or some other trib-related analysis of how to avoid future mistakes in the future, or something to that effect.
Now, why exactly are tribunals allowed to be shown leniency when committing the a crime versus their own hard-line no-leniency, no forgiveness approach to punishing and warranting people for that exact same crime, even ones who made mistakes (like an Imperial accidentally faerie firing his own cabalmate.) Even if we draw parallels to police today, police are reprimanded, put on leave, etc. if they have violate statutes that are *designed* to protect citizens (e.g. unlawful search and seizure). But, if they commit a serious offense, like armed robbery while on duty, they would end up having to go to trial, like a normal citizen would. This rough-shod argument ignores some factors in today's police culture (unions, corruption, etc.) But you can't endorse that as a reason

Partly, it pushed him back 100 hours in his process getting provincial. Measuring hours given his login times makes it very different compared to most, but that is still a substantial setback for someone who was otherwise doing a good job as a Magistrate.
Typically mistakes lead to being knocked back in the city structure (hierarchy? Impossible! All city order is equal!), but it very much depends for me on the circumstances of the mistake, the severity of it, what they did to remedy the situation, and whether or not they fessed up to it.
If they murdered people in a city, depending on how long their good service has been, I could even uninduct them until they end up somehow making up for it.
Otherwise the other posts do make good points in regards to character issues. You might compare it to how it is okay for forties to 'mess up' and kill goodies sometimes (to varying degrees). That isn't to say Magistrates shouldn't be better, but I try to tailor punishments according to the current Provost (they typically get to pick), the character, their history, etc.
Hopefully this answer isn't too lame.

I once received a flag for a crime I didn't commit. As a trib applicant.
Thankfully, in my case the flag was removed later, and I was told my history wasn't stained (e.g. judge power did not show me as an occasional criminal).
Still, IMHO, there is a bajillion of situations where a former criminal may yet be considered for the cabal. Just like a dude who drank potions can still join Battle. Tough but possible.

It's one thing when you broke the law and were convicted in the past. It's another thing when you didn't break the law but were flagged, and then died with the flag.

And that is what the imms will look at if they aren't around to see what happened personally. Other than the applicants word (see:Unreliable) that is all they will have to go on. Unless they personally see that the flag wasn't properly warranted that is all they have to go on.
The only way to reliably prevent this is to avoid dying with the warrant until an official reversal could be made. It's a very niche situation, IMO, as it isn't often that someone waits until they have played over 50 hours to join Trib. Usually they start early for the salary. Inconvenient? Perhaps for that one in one thousand situation where someone was improperly warranted and also wanted to join Trib AND died with the false warrant active. I'm not sure that necessitates a more complex process than is already in place.

I just don't like hard-nos, they are narrow-minded. Or it might be that, while I like Ishuli, I don't like how she runs Tribunal. Completely opposite from how it was run in my Trib days.

I recall no time evils were not allowed in tribunal, though I have taken breaks from the game, some lasting a few years (first break started after assassinate went in, about a month after, that lasted over a year, etc). There may be been a time like this, but not one I am aware of.
Why I can see it happening is none. Tribunal/empire/scarab all allow lawful/evil, but all three has different goals per cabal dogma. Actually outlander allows it too. That is no reason to limit a cabal to neural / good only, especially as vindicator position is a mainly evil / badass neutral position.
As per ishuli, ishuli runs things rather well being played as a tribbie in my opinion. Ishuli has been very active in communication with answering questions and more, but leaves magistrates to question the provost primarily, because its the provosts duty to interpret the laws, and make sure all know and understand his interpretation.
Under the imm before ishuli. Actually I wont even go there that imm was just bad comparatively.
Through the books within the spire, that is exactly how things were supposed to be, and work.
But then added into it, Ishuli DOES speak to the people, even the lowlie magistrate if needed, and makes her presence known.
Just what do you not like about how she runs tribunal? How was it opposite of how it ran in your day? And when was your day? Was it back when say, I was made provost by bria way back in the day? Back when we also watched over more than four cities?
Ive had 0 problems with ishuli, AND she manages to take care of a busy religion, thats heavy note wise with books etc and active character involvement.
Just say what you like, so we can undersand, and speak on it.

I don't like how some magistrates interpret the law in a way it was never interpreted since Arbiters.
You can never flag someone for what they did outside the city, and "assisting a criminal" makes no excuse for flagging where you have no jurisdiction.
There was a provost recently enough (Qinsa) who lost his post for doing exactly that. It took weeks for an Imm to react but at least it happened eventually. Now people are doing it and writing rationalizing notes and Ishuli does nothing but encourage them.
Flagging for "assisting a criminal" outside the city leads to there being no hard line about what is crime and what isn't. Now I don't know whether the law allows me to attack someone or not!
Disclaimer: I like Ishuli. I should probably say more along the lines of "I don't like where the cabal has gone." And it's not my right to question or demand a change -- but if I don't like something, I step forward and say it.
As for "my time", I meant mostly the time when I actively played Tribs -- from Barath, Jahrir and Korrix to Einrai, Haraji and Laeden. 2012 to 2016, intermittently.
As for when evils weren't allowed, yes there was a policy installed by Radik and followed by Yantha, with Marcatis' absent approval. It didn't last longer than a few months.

Qinsa was removed for chewing umirons ass off in game. BTW I was qinsa. Though part of the reason why yes was flagging outside the city, my char had interpreted the law in that manner, which is what my character was supposed to do as far as interpretation. Also it was not the first time it was interpreted this way, and other provosts have before. That law does not say only within jurisdiction, and does not to me for a reason. I agree with it being this way in truth.
For weeks for an imm to react, said imm in question was literally ignoring all prays, all notes, and for the most part dormant in all categories. It was not that it took an imm weeks to react to qinsa, we didnt have an imm in tribbie for the most part, period.
And no also, now all people are doing it and writing rationalizing notes and ishuli does nothing but encourage them is false. The provost is the one to interpret the laws as he judges them, but believe me there is not much room for interpretation as there really isnt that many gray areas. Noone else really has this right, and a wrongful flag in this manner can be grounds for removal too, bear that in mind, as I had expected it with lochlan.
Also, there is still a very big hard line about what is crime and what isnt. Case in point, if it is helping a criminal, its a crime. That is actually very, very easy.
I did not play the game during a radik or yantha, so no experience during this time period unfortunately. Reminds me of taceoleus or whatever his name was, emporer that I helped overthrow, saying half-elves were lesser, and I at the time was a half elf shapeshifter . That would have MADE me make an evil/lawful pledge just to 'overthrow da damn hippie govermment'

"Often a Provost may be seen around Thera with an honor guard of lieutenants at his or her side. However, the Provost is still off duty when outside of the cities. Accordingly, it is NEVER illegal to attack the Provost outside of a protected city, whether they have lieutenants with them or not."
Helpfiles > Spire books
And it's not clear at all whether by attacking you I'm helping a criminal or not. It may be clear to you in your head but it should also be unambiguous to any other player. Flags are a big deal and especially as a Trib you should strive to make it absolutely clear for people what's going to lead to a flag and what isn't.
Instead, you intentionally create ambiguity because "helping a criminal" is so super vague. If you're attacking a cabal outer to get to a criminal, and I'm in that cabal, does the law forbid me from defending my home?

Some might say "look, the third law doesn't say only in protected city", but it doesn't say "everywhere" either. So when the law isn't clear, you turn to other helpfiles (such as "help provost") and the instructions within the Spire.
And in those instructions, if you read the chapter about off-duty magistrates, it says you MAY NOT flag someone should you see or hear a crime outside your jurisdiction.
Any crime. Assisting a criminal included. Outside the city, you are off-duty (yes, even the provost) and you have no power or right to flag someone for what happens outside the city.

it is not a crime to attack a provost, correct, when outside the city.
However, attacking the provost at the side of a criminal is aiding a criminal, which is not murder, but violation of a law.
This is the difference in why pointing out help provost and attacking the provost, has absolutely no bearing on the argument of helping a criminal, because aiding a criminal is its own law, and murder is a seperate law.
Please when making an argument, do not give an example of something completely unrelated in order to justify a statement that has no bearing to what you brought up.

What you're saying is that you can't flag for murder when you're off-duty, but can flag for assisting. I will refer again to what "off-duty" means.
And if the helpfiles/books are not clear enough, then they should be changed. Law 3 should be changed to show clearly that it's only enforced within protected cities. It makes more sense and fits in better with Tribunal and the laws in general.
One could argue that laws that create conflict are better for the game, but my opinion is they are not. This basically gives Tribs the power to arbitrarily decide to flag any people for such things as defending their cabal or ranking with a criminal.
Besides, you can only define "assisting" very broadly. I could name enough situations where my actions would indirectly help a criminal, but were done for completely unrelated reasons. It's usually not a problem if limited to the city, but if the law is enforced abroad it creates a lot of weird conundrums.
Disclaimer: It's, like, my opinion, man. Don't ask me a question of opinion and then argue because you don't like the answer. Someone asked why I dislike Ishuli's Tribunal. I explained. Fin.

One law and how it applies, is NOT the same how another law, and it applies. You are trying to argue mechanics of laws as if they were the same, and they are not. Murder is not aiding. Aiding is aiding. You are not arguing anything but spewing #### that doesnt matter to what you would say you are arguing.
However it is very much like real life, in this argument. Aiding a criminal would be like harboring a fugitive which is direct aid. That person committed no other crime, but is subject to the laws and regulations of the territory the criminal was subject to for harboring the criminal (aiding).
Do you see how I argued the law, in reguards to the appropriateness of the law itself, and not said ok.. I am going to argue about aiding a criminal, and using an entirely different law and helpful that had no bearing on the argument itself?
Try something like this for example, using a case of the law itself.

And I gave you enough examples to show how such treatment of law 3 leads to nonsensical and obviously unjust consequences.
If you allow flagging for assisting outside the city, then in almost any situation you can find a justification to flag someone who attacks you. Hell, you can flag anyone who kills an Udgaard sentry.
You are just looking for excuses to use your powers on people who never had any intent of running afoul of the law. This is the worst thing a Trib can do, short of just flagging everyone on who list.

No, because law 3 is completely, and totally, NOT another law.
Please read my previous post before your comment.
The only time attacking an udgaard sentry would be a crime for someone, is doing it to aid a criminal, which would mean having to be seen by their side, or near enough to walk past without being attacked by said sentry, and that is the only possible time due to aiding.
Aiding only can be done at specific times. And here is something brilliant you may not have thought. Gee, if I do not aid a criminal, I am not committing crime.
You are more trying to justify doing whatever you want with a criminal outside of a protected city knowing you shouldnt in fact be aiding them without risk of a warrant, and using laws that do not apply with said aiding a criminal as a foundation to argue.
Knock it off, and make a valid point because you still are spewing crap. For a detailed perspective, look up south parks chewbacca defense, for something literally of what you are trying to do.

Can't flag for something outside your jurisdiction, period. Not only that, but I say a lot of actions can be easily twisted into "aiding a criminal".
Heck, if I hold strange bracers it's gonna be a crime because by holding them I disallow Tribs from having them, and that obviously helps the criminals they are hunting.
Knock it off. You are trying to justify ####ty Trib behavior using a law that isn't worded well.

I have been reading this with interest, honesty tho you are really really really trying to make some very coarse assumptions with your argument. If anything this should be coming at me because I pushed for this for a long time and IF I had been made Provost alot sooner this would have been a clarification far far far sooner than what it was.
If you have issue take it to gameplay. But honestly as Lochlan said "Don't want to be flagged don't associate with criminals"
And as I said to someone IC "Are the boundaries in this? Yes! Am I going to tell you where they lay? No!"
Why not? Tribunal is not about telling people how they can get around the law to avoid flags. Use common sense and all would have been fine.

is something that is common (duh). There is no "common sense" among CF players -- they all interpret the same things differently.
>Why not? Tribunal is not about telling people how they can get around the law to avoid flags. Hello, what? The major point of any law is that it should be clear to everyone so everyone is on the same page. And if you're afraid of people exploiting loopholes, then you should focus on fixing these loopholes, not covering them from common knowledge. I.e. issue a precise ruling instead of giving a vague "use your common sense".
Tribunal should be willing to educate people on the law, so they don't break it by accident when they genuinely don't want to break it. You want to keep people in the dark so you place more flags and get more frags? This is corruption, and being evil does not excuse you.
Don't associate with criminals? If you are in the same cabal with a criminal you don't have a choice. You want to flag one maran and then flag them all because they of course come to his aid WHEN YOU ####ING ATTACK THE FORTRESS.
And why should I bring this to Gameplay? Someone asked me a question, I answered. You and Lochlan are the ones trying to drag and blow up the discussion. You are the ones who have an issue with the fact that (gasp!) someone disagrees with you. So how about you go to Gameplay instead and complain about Murphy having a different opinion?

Take a step back for a bit.
Walk into your local cop shop - Hey this road has a speed limit of 100, I am just curious exactly how fast can I go over 100 without getting caught? Is 106 ok but 107 ill get busted and fined?
Give that a go let me know how you go.

A better analogy would be stopping to ask an officer the speed limit because it's not posted and having him tell you, "You'll know when you go over it and get a ticket".

For your analogy the answer is 100. because asking the limit and asking how far you can push it and not be caught are two very different things.
No its not Because in this case aiding a criminal is a known criminal act. So if someone so if Bobby is a criminal and a law enforcer is asked.
Is bobby a criminal? Yes
What will get me hunted by the law in regards to Bobby? Any form of aid is an appropriate answer. Some examples could be given - Helping them hide - Taking them across the boarder - Plus many many many more - If you have doubt don't do it

where I'm only helping myself or someone else, or fighting a Trib for unrelated reasons but it could be seen as helping a criminal because he happened to benefit from my actions.
In the city, it's not a problem because if I'm fighting a Trib in the city, then I'm already breaking the law. Outside, not so much. It's very very vague, and laws should never be that vague.
In my opinion, that is.

This is actually getting overly redundant, and I am literally going to stop posting for attention whores.
Were I a maran, then yes I would actively not group with criminals, so I did not run the risk of striking good aligned mobs with the criminal, as said maran, that pledged not to harm the light. However would I risk becomming a criminal fighting side by side a criminal in a raid on the empire in retrieval? Damn right I would. I wouldnt bitch and complain about it though because I got caught, or because I was aiding a criminal, because that is exactly what I was doing to the point of law.
BTW I attacked the fortress twice. Once on accident when I arrived to look for a criminal, was a raid going on and he bashed my zombie, which caused my minions to strike, etc. Was annoying, and second time to take the orb later in the chars life with vindicator, something should have done. When vindicator orders, magistrates obey. Even at suggestion of magistrate which I did suggest it, cannot happen except through vindicator. Read vindicator books.
Another case in point, with education of others. Take vehli in example. You tell him that aiding outside a city is still a crime, provosts ruling yadda yadda, and a magistrate outside the city is to return and mark offenders, etc, as per provosts missive. Bearing in mind, vehli repeatedly warns that I will be removed from the spire for it, completely ignores the law repeatedly, same law, and refuses to speak to ishuli. You can tell someone all day long, they will just flat out ignore it.
Also a magistrate does not have to tell the entire world the provosts rulings. When did you ever say to a magistrate 'what is the provosts ruling on xyzetcetal. Likely never, just want to come here and be a drama queen, and im tired of it.
Murphy has every right to have an opinion. But having an opinion is fine. Arguing about apples to make oranges look different as it were, is stupid and I will call him out for it when he does this crap on my deaththread. Anyway i'm out. I am not here and do not exist to pamper people, feel sorry about people or anything else, especially since I have people in florida I am worried about hardcore which is doing alot of damage to me at the moment, considering my anxiety issues. The last thing I will continue doing is dealing with the overdramatic ####.
This is the general argument. 'It shouldnt be fair that I be marked as a criminal for aiding a criminal outside of a city'.
You arent provost either, you want that ruling changed, be provost. End of discussion on my end.

no, holding strange bracers is nt in fact aiding a criminal. You have to actually be aiding a criminal, hence the term aiding a criminal.
And no, you are just being stupid, spewing stupidity, as a means to justify something that has no context to aiding. I am not here to give you attention.

Statement given in on of the earlier posts:
"if you read the chapter about off-duty magistrates, it says you MAY NOT flag someone should you see or hear a crime outside your jurisdiction."
If this is true, then it means you may not flag someone for aiding a criminal when you are off-duty. Period. Aiding a criminal is a crime. See above quote for when you may flag someone for a crime.
It's not rocket science, it's English.
If the quote does not appear in the LAW or Tribunal instruction, then forget I said anything.

Oh, so the Provost never is off-duty? You can flag someone from inside the Fortress for example, or do you have to return to the city to do so?
I've never been Provost obviously.
But, I will add this from the Spire....
1. "The Provost defers to the Justiciar orVindicator only in their areas of specialty, namely investigation and the hunting of criminals. In all other matters, the Justiciar and Vindicator follow the rule of the Provost like all other Tribunal."
2. "When outside of a protected city, a Vindicator may only have their guards with them while on Tribunal business."
3. "As it will often be unclear to others whether a Vindicator is on or off-duty, it is NEVER illegal to attack a Vindicator outside of the protected cities or the Spire, whether they have their guards with them or not."
So, why would it be OK to attack the Vindicator when he hunts/fights a criminal outside the city but not the Provost, when the Vindicator is not only the primary person to hunt criminals, but has authority over the Provost when it comes to hunting criminals?

>Yes bingo it is never illegal to attack the vindicator outside of town. It is however illegal to aid a criminal. That simple.
This remark is made SPECIFICALLY to clarify Law #3.
You seem to assume it is related to Law #1, "murder". Law #1 already says "protected cities". We already know Law #1 doesn't apply. Why would they need to reiterate that it isn't illegal to attack outside? Oh yes because there's also Law #3. And the phrase "it is never illegal to attack the vindicator outside" is there for Law #3.
"It is never illegal to attack them whether they have their guards with them or not." = "It is never illegal to attack them whether they are on Tribunal business / hunting a criminal or not." = "It is never illegal to attack them whether it aids a criminal or not." That's the logic behind the remark in "help provost" and in the vindicator book.
It even states the very reasoning I described -- an outsider can't tell reliably whether his actions help a criminal or not. Therefore you can't hold him responsible by flagging him.

In all of this what needs to be remembered: From my end none of these things came without a lengthy course of justification. One particular clarification I think ended up being a near enough to two hour discussion between myself and Tribunal Imms.

A magisrate gets at least a double whammy in this. Lochlans' dedication and carefulness was likely noted by this time, but still per the provost I had to sit there for about 40 ticks while a poison slowly did me in (death is the punishment for a crime, and I had to die). Also a magistrate has to get the punishment too from the tribbie imms when they decide to promote, as I had to wait 100 hours (a fifth of a characters life) MORE for a promotion.
That is first offense. Second offense is the end of a magistrates position.
Compare this to say a maran or one of the fortress. No harm to the light, though most of them have killed lightwalkers, in the least a few. Most do not get spoken to at all until excess.
Believe me as a magistrate things are much more strict, and you had absolutely no idea what took place for the repercussions of the incident that I had, as well the rulings of the provost on it, on how he views these mishaps. This is the situation man

As we both have noted, I was speaking speculatively as I had no idea what your punishments are. But I think you're misreading my intention of the post. You and what punishments you received or didn't receive was never a gripe for me. I was merely using you as a convenient example as a springboard for a question I had about the difference in treatment of tribunals and non-tribunals for a crime (i.e. attacking someone in a city), which I feel was already sufficiently answered by Ish and co.
Last point, more on an ironic note considering speculatory statements, is your comparison with maran. Ignolmeer had a super strict policy with it, that he did explicitly note on the forums before he er...deleted. Grimbalg, if he was killing a bunch of goodies, would probably never have become a Maran if he had rolled up his char a month earlier, AFAIK.

per grim I dunno teh amount. I know I had seen ALOT of dead guards, but unfortunately assumed it was him hearing him screaming etc, though there may have been another killing them and unfortunately a dwarf with stupid amounts of saves / landslide / polearm / cutoff / legsweep doesnt give me much breathing room to look around very well as things are going on
I was told in rotd that his numbers were quite low, which is where it got odd to me, considering the body parts left behind x.x

Nooo.. I did get that one date in rotd!
Ishuli I was also brryn, and actually became fond of you with that char. The problem with brryn was the situation that I would hunt with him and it be worthless. Over 200 hours, 8 souls, and all these young outlanders with little possibility I would get to fight any / many for another 200 hours, and the char was little fun.
Lochlan I had made and put him also into tribunal, is why I had brryn removed / deleted so I could have him in tribbie. Also why I made sure the items went to others (of that breastplate, there were two in the pit. The ranger put one in from exploring said place ). The drow a-p that deleted did good off of all of it, but still deleted .
Lochlan I did not expect to be that much of a success in many areas. That pwk count, holy cow around 50 pwk's? As assassins I refuse to take assassinate because it ruined much of the game experience for me. I will likely never, ever again take those edge combinations that I had again. My wight only had 3 pwk's, lochlan was like.. christ.
For in game misakes, I do tend to own up to them. As far as tribbie powers I had a conversation with you in game, and I meant it. There are few other things in game that can screw a char over more than a wanted flag, especially on lower level people just trying to level. In the time I was absent things DID change. Conjurer pets for example were protected, because killing it removes 1/3 of a con, and damages the conjurers, and no other minion is like this away from them. I was provost at the time conjurers came out, was that way then, and always considered it since. Things like that yeah my bad, but did have reason for the warranting. Unfortunately knowing from the provost after the fact they were not considered protected unless by the side also x.x
So some I cannot call mistakes, but my character was wrong to do so, and due to the nature of the power I wont purposely even for role reason place a wrongful flag
I do hope brryn / lochlan gave you alot of fun and *hugs* ty for the conversations hehe, and thinking brryn was cute as a house cat, and liking his pro-slavery route.

yeah they do.
The reason I wont take assassinate with my assassins, and in general dislike the class is because of assassinate itself. It does not matter how skilled you are, the time and effort you put into your char, or your gear etc. All it takes is one completely naked assassin with some stalks, and nothing you did with your character can possibly matter.
PWK is the same. However pwk normally has an excessively high fail rate. As said with my wight I had back in the day I had 3 pwk's, the reason I used it, was it did rediculous damage to start a fight and thats why I like pwk.
Thats why pwk was the double edged sword for me, and I will never take that edge combo again. It became one more skill that said your character, the time you put into it, and everything doesnt matter because your screwed. No chance to fight back, get away, nothing.
So yeah, even you count stevers, because the feelings affect me
p.s. Today is now officially hug a stevers day! *tackles stevers in a bearhug, squeezing him until his back breaks and blood splatters out of his nose and mouth*. god damnit stevers you WERENT supposed to die from a hug

hey. you posted a comment in phelz' thread in regards to your interactions with rahseals' followers. much of rahseals' religion deals with loss, though for the most part is self reflection / growth etc and deals with the self, which opens up alot of rp possibilities.
Unfortunately the nature of teh beast leaves alot of people in game believing in order to be a follower, you have to inflict loss, which is not the only means of sharing / preaching, only often the easiest route. Yeah unarguably if phelz had done this with villager apps, then yeah he made the village have a loss of much, and the appls, and the game as a whole.
While as far as religion wise and rp wise he was well within his capabilities of doing so and it was not bad, he just lacked the understanding to invision just what he was doing to his cabal as a leader as well as a follower of the god of loss.
Their ARE some good followers out there. Well I know from interactions specifically with one but goes not with lochlan so I cant say it .
But for clarification on what rahseal is really about, seek out a broken doll in game. Go from there. I wish I could

thats the thing that is a bit different with me. Back when the mud had over 100 people on, yeah log in, murder people just to have a levelling spot, try to hold the spot. End up con dying many characters, and old age deaths were supremely rare for anyone, but also wracking up 200-400 kills were not hard at all.
With the decline to now however, people are trying to level up, and for the most part, many have to try solo, including mages which becomes hard (unless done smart, but still hard). I do not have the will to sit here and screw a person just trying to get 1 level over, especially by doing what phelzhis was doing, or baka is now (btw thats japanese for ####, and his name has a literal meaning of what he is doing), which is targetting people struggling just to get one level.
So for me, it became something much less of killing except in the hero ranks where people are ready to fight, and with having a depth and high amount of interactio with people, especially to take alot of the frustration out of the game with the levelling progress. I make it alot of points, to not hunt people I shouldnt be per cabal dogma, just to not ruin the game.
Unfortunately cabals do have enemies so yeah is going to be some, but imagine if I decided to make a char with my login times, specifically to go after everyone.
And I am talkin about using preps many people dont even know or care to use, such as if I had an assassin with trance, sanc, prot from metals, aura, shield, stoneskin, haste, accelerate, and refresh pills / potions to back up the accelerate, and just attack 3 to 4 people at once with expectations to win, and just like qinsa have an army people complained about as being as large as a necro's, and I didnt even get all the pets I could have.
The game for the nostalgia that it is, with all the years it was a part of my life pre-military. Time I played in the military, I would rather support it also with a want for people to interact, and be a part of it, more than just murder (while still holding to cabal dogmas, and having to murder)
My bloodlust days are gone I am afraid

Necro from 25-41 is god mode. 42-47 is serious wet blanket time but you seemed to pull it off where many have failed. I had a 2 week return where as rash indicated you really seemed to smother outlander. I never directly interacted with you so I can't comment on your role impact but you did have a noticeable mechanical one.

reason for that specifically was I WAS a tribbie. Bear in mind, for some reason alot of people in the game they think a wanted flag is tabboo. They would rather moan and complain than suck it up and murder in a city and get a wanted flag. That in itself was a large reason why the character was long lived, as compare to say were I in the empire, and able to be stalked etc, especially when in a likely scenario, they would not succeed with the murder. This made my character unfortunately, excempt from alot of fighting that used to happen once upon a time (back when level 1 people would walk into your guild and disperce, because of doppleganger, etc et al).
More than anything I did, that was the more attributing factor. Otherwise this char was meant to do alot of heavy flirting, and alot of teasing, and to give alot of wtf moments (I know I gave a few people a few ) as per his roleplay.

I think you would have enjoyed Ghek when he was around. You are right about the wanted flag, players to tend to be like *oh no I don't wanna get wanted even though this person is my mortal enemy!* Ghek didn't care and would just rumble into town and start burning stuff down and causing havoc, cause f society, that's why. If I make another outlander, I hope you have a tribbie, cause I'm the type of Outlander that causes chaos in the cities cause I want the people to be afraid or at least cautious when I'm about as an outlander.

I do like that attitude. Typically my outlanders are short lived because I am always a criminal and causing havok. The lower pbase means higher living though. I am honestly not used to living as well through my accidental nature etc. Back in the day all my characters con died, even though most were highly successful (at least killing 3 to 1, with a few chars on the highest kill board ever) and some not so successful (deleted them being only about average, largely due to going up against hardcore baddasses like istendil and getting my ass beat so much. Solo. Because I was suicidal. did like being told I am aggrivating for killing so many zombies before I would die etc. What can I say, but that one deleted elven knight with around 30 kills and 20 deaths. about 15 to istendil or istendil and co.
Its my nature to say #### it and im gonna do it, lets see what I can pull off. Characters like yours ARE enjoyable, because they behave the same. so yeah woulda liked it. But I came back to the game when you were having your last kicks sowwy

Sorry to see this. You seemed like a good sport. You played a lot of hours, really tormented a lot of Outlanders, and helped out a lot on the Newbie channel.
It did look like you drew a pretty tough mummy item. Is that what did Lochlan in?
Good luck with your next!
P.S. My one request for future characters (and you'd also see it in the PBF) is that you please use the role command for roles, not messages to IMMs.

no wasnt what did me in. There was two very heavy griefers close to the end before I deleted lochlan that took things to extremes. One was a villager, that not only ignored a conjurer in town, only entered to attack the necro guild and leave to keep it open at all times, just in case. The other was a dwarf pole spec, who actually broke into the necro guild just to log out within it, to log in there etc, both with builds very heavily able to take mine on, especially the dwarves.
Interactions and more were being spoiled for me when not because of people with a competative nature were against me, but overt griefing was involved.
With grim I know his charge set actually did kill quite a few guards including seeing their eq and body parts at times, I do not know how the number was so low though also know others were dragging all the guards of galadon away (including himself). I mean all the guards not on the battlements in the entire city, that bad.
I made a warrior through to deal with the griefers, but one deleted and one got removed from the game (villager). Stopped playing said warrior because job was done and I couldnt stand h2h spec as main.
Im sorry though rahseal that in the end is what did the char in, was the griefing aspect. Otherwise the char could have easily died to old age, after an extended life from wearing + youth bracers and more (until death). I just.. had no will for it. (even without becomming a mummy, which I never had dangit

I'm surprised by your deletion; what happened?
With your strong presence and Guais age death I really tought you'd be the next Provost.

my taking a small break was due to seeing if I wanted to play the char anymore really, after the heavy griefing started making me lose interest that much.
I tried when I came back, really did, but just thought to myself meh, im gonna get griefed this hard, I would rather have a char that can fight back against it in a much better matter than this guy could. So the end of lochlan.
Sorry man. I really dont aspire to leadership positions if I get them, they just happen. I was never after provincial or provost, but I do try to be a model magistrate at least cabal power-wise.
That may have led to it. Or it may have been the excessive hours that I played (now I dont have that ability, and would constantly lose minions when I have to leave suddenly, boo) but I am glad vramun became provost. all around he kicked ass in everything, and was a great warrior, great guide in everything, and a provosts shoes should be harder to fill than any other within the cabal. Anyone can murder, anyone can judge that is intelligent. Few can lead as well as he could.

im sorry but big exploration parties have to be preformed like kobaya's perm they had with the paladin / him / invoker for a while, or go with larger power shifts, such as there being a steady group of people on in a guild with a healer. Magistrate numbers were small, and my list of allies almost as small. Getting that group together was nearly impossible for me at most times.
Woulda been neat to see what you could do with that per your poisons, but really I just needed specific people together and never got it bu t the once, and one needed to go before we finished
