It used to be that they couldn't wrath if they decided to lag. Now they can wrath while doing auto lag plus the shield is doing significant damage too.

Only thing close is the lag from a champion, but it's nowhere near the damage of spamming wrath + shield lag.

Talking like that is the quickest way I know to keep paladin edges off the work table.

My next paladin will be shield dedicate because they can consistently lag and also can auto lag. IMHO consistent lag is what the other dedicates lack. If you die to a monk (that doesn't have pounce) I laugh at you for over extending yourself.
