You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

#1977, "discuss guildmaster prereq "

I added a bit of functionality to discuss that will give you some insight into the prerequisites for an edge.

Overall it will tell you
- specific stats required
- specific skills required
- whether or not you'll ever be able to learn it
- if you're too low level to learn it

What it won't tell you
- You need a 23 strength
- You need 85% in create water
- If you need something special like imm experience, observation experience, certain number of kills, etc.

Example output:
discuss guildmaster prereq hex augur
Hex Augur prerequisites
Stat : Wisdom
Skill : blindness
Skill : curse
Skill : poison

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

Can you possibly add another line that simply indicates something "more" is needed, but doesn't specify what? Otherwise you may run into the same constant problem of people posting going "I have X, Y, and Z but it still won't let me pick this edge!"

Just sayin'...

The way it is takes care of 95%+ of the edges, and the other 5% have so many little special cases, that I'm not really interested in wasting time trying to determine them, and keep it up to date as we add new ones. It's pretty simple. If your skills are high, and you have the stats (and you know you can learn it because it hasn't told you that you can't), there is something else.

>Just sayin'...

Yeah...I'm just sayin a smart person can figure it out...

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

Yay for a bit more ability to wrestle with the nuts and bolts, and make sense of them.
