#209, "outlanders and distrusted races"

In regards to the distrusted races listed in the outlanders help files: dwarves, duergars, minotaurs, orcs. Is not possible under any circumstances that a memeber of one of these races could get inducted into outlander? I understand the general reasons for distrust but I could see at least in the case of Duergars and Dwarves role ideas and RP that could put them outside of their normal cultures and inline with outlander ideas. Not all dwarves/duergars have to be mountain dwelling mines/defilers or gold hungry, etc. I don't see it in the nature of the cabal to be unwilling to listen to people so how is not possible for them to learn to trust individuals of one of these races?
Just seems very limiting, Orcs and minotaurs make more sense as being banned but even in those cases, it seems to me a ban assumes too much of how all people of x race are or will always be. A cabal that has individuality as a one of it's traits would seem the wrong place to ban people based on race. Just curious I haven't been able to find much of an answer to this question in searching the forums, hope someone can enlighten me a little. Thanks.

It implies culture, heritage and in nearly all cases having two parents of the same race.
For this reason, these cultures remain seperated from the familiar 'mix' which would be human/halfie society (the larger populations of Thera). An orc with two orc parents, is not going to mystically grow up to be more like a daisy sniffing elf. Insanely wonderful revelations asside, this goes for all non-human races.
Dwarves/duergar will have been born and raised by another pair of dwarf/duergar. Even if taken in as an orphan, you'd have to stretch it to make a dwarf/duergar very un-dwarfy. Its in their very nature to do what they do.
Failing the above, the Ancients are very old, grudge bearing Gods. A dwarf might never have mined an ounce of rock in his life. He's still a dwarf, and a member of the dwarven society that has done great harm over millenia. Even if that particular dwarf didn't, you can bet he's related to one that did. Such old gods are more than happy to take things out on descendants of defilers. This racist attitude, while not accepted in RL, fits very well into CF's segmented world - because these races truly have great distances between them culturally/inherently.
Its like exterminating all the cockroaches in your kitchen. You could sit there, and analyse each ones behaviour - perhaps even find a civilized cockroach that eats off a plate and doesn't #### in your cupboards - but its going to be unique and likely un-important in the grand scale of things. You better believe that same cockroach, after watching you kill his relatives, is going to leave 'presents' on your fresh fruit.

Good post, but keep in mind there is actually a dwarven ancient on the totum. So it in theory is possible..
